Hour 3 - Kristi Noem is Fired
3/5/202637 mincomplete
0:00This is an iHeart Podcast.
0:02Guaranteed human. Third hour of Clay and Buck kicks off now.
0:06Our friend Ryan Gruduski joins us.
0:08He is the host of It's a Numbers Game, a fantastic podcast.
0:13Breaking down all the data in politics.
0:15You can be smarter than all your friends about what's happening in these elections and
0:19the polls and all the things going on.
0:22Check out It's a Numbers Game on the Clay and Buck Podcast Network.
0:24Ryan, thank you for being back with us.
0:27I want to get to Texas.
0:28I want to get to all that stuff.
0:30But first, I have to ask you, you might have heard the big breaking news.
0:33Kristi Noem fired from DHS and has some.
0:37Actually, Clay, do you want to read what the job is that she's now being
0:40moved to? Because it's a doozy.
0:42Go ahead. Yes, President Trump has posted on Truth Social.
0:47And by the way, we should mention she's speaking right now here in Nashville.
0:53So they demoted her. And then she's going directly in front of the media right
0:59now to speak. So here in Nashville.
1:03So that seems like a difficult spot where I am.
1:05Here is what President Trump posted.
1:07I am pleased to announce the highly respected United States Senator from the great state
1:12of Oklahoma, Mark Wayne Mullen, will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security effective
1:18March 31st, 2026. The current secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well and has
1:24had numerous and spectacular results, especially on the border, will be moving to be special
1:30envoy for the shield of the Americas.
1:35Our new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere, we are announcing on Saturday in Doral,
1:42Florida. I thank Kristi for her service at Homeland.
1:46And then a very strong endorsement of Mark Wayne Mullen as her replacement.
1:51Again, she is speaking right now.
1:53Ryan, has she been sent to the archives?
1:56Because special envoy to something I've never heard of before.
1:59It doesn't sound that good.
1:59Yeah, she might as well be ambassador to Greece.
2:02That's how much she's on the outs.
2:04This has been the rumors about Kristi Noem and the dislike on Kristi Noem has
2:09been going on basically since she became DHS secretary.
2:13The very expensive four foot long weaves and wigs and the press conferences.
2:18And it's been a lot.
2:20A lot of people haven't liked her.
2:22Her association, quote, unquote, with a former Trump campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, has not done
2:29favors from anyone in the interior of the Trump administration, from the close people associated
2:33with him who do not like Corey Lewandowski.
2:36So there was a lot going.
2:39And basically what Trump said is he accused her of lying to Congress, which is
2:43a federal crime. He said that he knew nothing about the $200 million ad featuring
2:47Kristi Noem. I don't know.
2:49I imagine there'll be another congressional investigation of Democrats take the house.
2:54Yeah, this is a this is interesting.
2:57Again, she's speaking right now.
2:59And. I would just suggest to you.
3:03Can I go to throw some other question?
3:04She tried to throw she tried to throw Trump under the bus is actually what
3:08happened here. She got caught with her hand in the till.
3:11Two hundred million dollars of Kristi Noem's face everywhere.
3:13You're a government employee like you're not running for office right now.
3:17And she says, well, Trump said it was OK.
3:20And Trump is saying, I did not say that was OK.
3:24So it is a it is a mess.
3:26This is the first cabinet secretary to to lose his or her job.
3:31And again, if you're looking on the Senate side, Ryan, confirmation for senators who rise
3:39to or ascend or I guess it could theoretically be a demotion, depending on your
3:44perspective. But usually it's seen as a promotion to become a cabinet secretaries.
3:49Usually they get confirmed fairly rapidly as sort of a Senate nod in their direction.
3:56And so I would think this will not be something that gets bogged down in
4:01a significant way. But what it does mean is Oklahoma is going to need a
4:07new senator in what is a fairly even United States Senate right now.
4:12Yeah. And I haven't had a chance to look at the process of how they
4:17either appoint or nominate a senator.
4:19Remember, the Senate, the current governor of Oklahoma, is very moderate, especially on immigration.
4:25He has said that he doesn't believe that illegals are going to vote or the
4:30Democrats want illegals to vote.
4:32And he has been very complimentary towards illegal aliens.
4:35There is another candidate running for governor who has called for basically embedded immigration.
4:41So Oklahoma and James Langford worked with Biden on a bill that would have given
4:45them, you know, five thousand illegals crossing a day.
4:48Oklahoma, for a conservative state, has not always elected the best people.
4:51Martin Wayne Mullen is definitely the most conservative member of the delegation.
4:55So it'll be sad to see him go.
4:57But it will be very interesting who is his replacement.
5:00More details coming out here.
5:03Bill Malusian reports Senator Kennedy of Louisiana had that contentious back and forth, said that
5:12when he told Trump about it, Trump was, quote, mad as a murder hornet that
5:19Christy Noem claimed he approved the $200 million ad contract.
5:23Kennedy said he. was upset by that contract he called the white house told them
5:29in advance he was going to press her on that at the hearing and the
5:34white house was not opposed to it so this feels a little bit like a
5:39political hit where senator kennedy who is a republican usually you guys all watch these
5:45hearings usually republican witnesses cabinet members are treated pretty kindly uh by the party that
5:53is the same as theirs and grilled on the opposite side when this hearing as
5:58buck mentioned last hour kind of went off the rails a little bit and republicans
6:02came after her it was a sign that there was this uh disapproval on both
6:09sides uh and now again mark wayne mullen is in and christy noem is out
6:14i would just add to this uh ryan that it's not over minneapolis from what
6:19we can tell minneapolis seems to have played very little now i'm sure that that's
6:23uh you know you could say that that was compounded into all of this but
6:28it's not that she messed up the the messaging in minneapolis which i think she
6:32certainly did it's that when push came to shove she tried to shove trump under
6:37the bus because there's no way to justify a 220 million dollar ad budget starring
6:42you as a government employee about a government program yeah it was there as i
6:49said before there have been a number of people who really questioned why she ever
6:54got the job they dad never liked her in that position uh they didn't like
6:59her with her i mean south park humor humorized it very well but the fact
7:03that she has this expensive makeup ads and these expensive makeup jobs and these giant
7:08weaves and uh is on television every 30 second kind of promoting herself that it
7:15doesn't come as a shock that they did not oppose senator kennedy wanting to ask
7:19her about this and um it's uh yeah it sounds like this is there there's
7:25been a lot of uh blood no love lost between the two for a very
7:29very well i i just i bring this up clay just because to me it's
7:32trump is loyal to people who are loyal to him and christy gnome's main asset
7:37had been an unflinching loyalty to donald trump i will say that for her she
7:41was unflinchingly loyal to donald trump because she thought it benefited her and then when
7:45she got grilled and the heat was on she turned on trump and trump said
7:49see you later that's what i see happening here so i don't i don't disagree
7:54either ryan i'm going to ask you about the larger senate issues at play because
7:58now mark wayne mullen factors in a bit here but senator fetterman has already said
8:04as a member of the homeland security committee ranking member of the subcommittee i'm not
8:09sure how many of my fellow democrats will vote to support mullen as the next
8:14dhs secretary but i am i so he is saying aye he is saying that
8:21he is yes which would get us theoretically to 54 i don't think you can
8:26overlook sometimes these cabinet uh battles can get really uh contentious it sounds like trump
8:34is making a choice here for somebody that he thinks will get confirmed quite easily
8:39coming out of the senate but let's talk about the senate here for a minute
8:41ryan um texas this is what we initially had you on to talk about we
8:47know that maine and north carolina where there are republican senators currently in position there
8:53are going to be tough battles right susan collins and the open seat in north
8:58carolina georgia and michigan and maybe to an extent minnesota there's been some optimism that
9:04republicans could put democrat seats in play but really so long as republicans keep texas
9:12iowa montana states like that ohio and alaska a good one to bring up um
9:20how much of what's going on right now in texas is really just about the
9:25trump white house saying we need to make sure that texas is not a seat
9:30on the board because if you take texas off the math starts to get more
9:35difficult yeah i mean listen part of it is is that paxton underperformed he did
9:41very poorly in this primary uh cornyn spent a fortune but to his credit he
9:47was polling in the low 30s and ended up and i'm coming up number one
9:52had cornyn come out with 30 percent as some of the polls said i'm sure
9:56this call would not be being made right now but paxton underperformed polling he was
10:01up by five and six points in most polls he ended up being down by
10:04a point and a half paxton had the fight of his life and i would
10:07get sorry cornyn did but the fight of his life and i give credit to
10:10the old man he came out slugging and he won so there's no there had
10:16he come in a second or a distant second he would not be getting this
10:19treatment right now but you can't i i said this in my podcast episode that
10:24comes out tomorrow for a numbers game do you remember a single moment during this
10:29campaign where paxton actually had a viral moment had a had a reason for running
10:34for office sat there and really uh nailed down why cornyn was an insufficient republican
10:40senator i don't remember it i don't and i why i pay attention all the
10:44time paxton was completely mia and i talked to people in texas who said he
10:49is a very lazy campaigner and he's overly exaggerated constantly and there was a case
10:53to be made against cornyn but paxton doesn't look like he was ever going to
10:57be the one to really work for it the way that it was needed to
11:00be can we can we uh clay let's let's keep ryan through to talk tallarico
11:04and the general here in a second because i want to talk to you about
11:06those numbers tallarico how that all plays out these clips ryan i mean you've heard
11:11some of them we might even be able to play one or two when we
11:13come back they're wild the stuff that this tallarico guy says i mean it's pretty
11:18astonishing so stay through with us if you can it's a numbers game is ryan's
11:21podcast we'll talk about the texas general matchup uh as well as how this primary
11:26continues to play out and the gen and the overall senate picture uh we'll return

12:24little comic relief clay travis and buck sexton find them on the free iHeartRadio app
12:30or wherever you get your podcast welcome back in clay travis buck sexton show we
12:35are talking with ryan gurdusky our data analyst he's part of the clay and buck
12:40network podcast network you should definitely sign up for him ryan i don't know if
12:44you're watching but we are monitoring it not only did they fire christy noem they
12:50did it just a couple of minutes before she was scheduled to speak and she
12:55now is taking questions uh in nashville uh from media right as this firing is
13:03taking place but we uh as we went to break we uh we're talking about
13:07the situation in texas and there has been an assumption that somehow james tallarico was
13:13going to be a guy that could have appeal and put that texas senate seat
13:17in play but there has just been a bevy of crazy video comments from james
13:24tallarico that have come out that have made it quite clear he is not a
13:27moderate at all and it feels almost like republicans were playing possum i even said
13:31earlier ryan maybe jasmine crockett's not as crazy as him which is saying something uh
13:36how do you assess this texas senate race now that the primaries are over yeah
13:41i'm not worried up for i mean listen he did very well latinos there was
13:45a surge of voter turnout it is not the first time that that democrats about
13:49voter republicans it's happened several times the last few cycles mostly in presidential years but
13:54sometimes in midterms so everyone and republicans still have won all the generals so i'm
13:59not worried about that but a lot of the search came from latino voters and
14:02he is he is what white progressive liberals think a christian should sound like in
14:08the sense that he has said that jesus christ has let him rectify his whiteness
14:14instead of his sin but i guess being white and a sin are the same
14:18thing to him he said that prisons are violence and we should work towards a
14:22world without prisons he's referred to latinos as latin xers i mean you name it
14:28it's every woke white nonsense thing you could possibly imagine and it's gonna go down
14:35like like a rock and you could tell it's bad because the bulk work people
14:39would like as these comments were coming to light said if you're thinking about running
14:43for office please delete your old tweets they wasn't like don't believe in this it
14:48was to hide the evidence and the evidence is overwhelming and i i you know
14:52and the crazy thing is had jasmine crockett not been afraid of the online left
14:57-wing mob for her his things about you know wanting to support transgender men in
15:03girls bathrooms for say prisons are violence she would have won the democratic primary but
15:09she could not run to his actual right because she was too afraid of that
15:13it's amazing it does seem clay brought this up before i think there's a real
15:18grounds to make this claim ryan talarico seems crazier than jasmine crockett he's not he's
15:25crazier than a freaking pistachio farm in california he called for uh for allowing abortions
15:32in federal buildings after roe was overturned could you imagine grandma going to the post
15:38office to mail christmas gifts and next to the po box is the woman getting
15:41an abortion this man is crazy he is the keybler elf of bad ideas he
15:48is absolutely certifiably nuts the hardest left winger you could possibly imagine and he's constantly
15:55reflecting on trans people getting abortions and how sad he is about being white i
15:59mean rachel dolezal the woman who faked being black had a better relationship with being
16:04white than than he does it's it's literally nuts and there's constant referencing about how
16:10the women he could get i mean has anyone heard him speak or see him
16:14and think that that's actually true this is like we're in bizarro world right now
16:19and and No, I think I'm not worried about the Texas race at all.
16:23Democrats want to dump $50 million like they did against Lindsey Graham.
16:26Be my guest. I'm not.
16:27Okay, so if you were going to make, and we're coming up on a break
16:31here, so this is probably, if you can be quick.
16:32We've got one minute. How do Democrats take back the Senate?
16:36What would they have to win?
16:38What is the firewall? Break it down quickly for us if you could.
16:41Maine, North Carolina, Alaska, maybe, maybe Ohio, maybe.
16:48So if you can firewall Ohio and Texas, which in Iowa, a couple of others,
16:55which has to be the way the Trump team is thinking, that way you preserve
16:58the Senate at minimum. Yeah.
17:01Iowa, Ohio, Alaska, those are the three that you need to protect.
17:04They're much more close than Texas.
17:06Texas has eight, also, media markets.
17:08It's very expensive to campaign in Texas.
17:10Tell everybody who's not going to have the money.
17:11You need, like, a billion dollars.
17:13Ryan Gerdusky, my friend, always great to have you here, and thank you for showing
17:18up. Everyone should go check out It's a Numbers Game, his excellent podcast.
17:21Topic tomorrow, Ryan, what's it going to be?
17:23James Tallarico and the Texas primaries.
17:25I go live. This is a generational election.
17:28Why the people in charge of Texas GOP will not be there in the next
17:31five years and why it's so important.
17:33For anyone to get upset about the way this election went, listen to my podcast.
17:36I will break down why it's a ray of sunshine for conservatives.
17:40Excellent stuff. Ryan Gerdusky, everybody.
17:42Ryan, thanks. Thank you. An FBI report from just over a year ago on home
17:46burglaries reveals how frequently they're occurring, two times every minute, on average, nationwide.

19:29I've never heard of it.
19:30Learning something new. Please play.
19:37It's a dad joke. You caught the dad joke there, right?
19:45It's nice. Which, yes, the dad jokes get a lot of respect here on the
19:50program. By the way, I know we're going to get to a bunch of these
19:54talkbacks. Markway Mullen appears to be in a vehicle on the way to the White
19:58House right now, which suggests this decision was made very quickly, right?
20:04That the decision was made, and the fact that right now, Kristi Noem is on
20:08Fox News and CNN. They are showing her speaking, and she is taking questions from
20:14some of the law enforcement that are in the crowd.
20:17But I can't remember a time when someone has been fired and then immediately walked
20:22out to a public event like this.
20:25And any of you who are going to do the, like, no one should ever,
20:28you know, you should never celebrate when anyone gets fired or anything else.
20:32Because the Wall Street Journal reported that she fired a Coast Guard pilot, okay, for
20:39not bringing her blanket from one private plane to another.
20:45The stories that were being told about DHS Secretary in friendly media outlets, I'm not
20:52talking about CNN trash. I'm talking about Fox News reporters getting wind of this.
20:55I'm talking about Wall Street Journal reporters getting wind of this.
20:59We're of an imperious and incompetent top of DHS.
21:04You cannot have that. This is one of, this is certainly a top three agency
21:09for the Trump agenda. It is one of the most important posts in the administration.
21:15She had a shot. Now she can move on and be the special envoy, deputy
21:20assistant secretary to the shield of Western security or whatever that, whatever that thing is.
21:28So that's, that's where all this is.
21:30You want to play in the big boy game?
21:32You got to deal with big boy consequences or big girl game, big girl consequences.
21:37This is C. Chris from Morgantown wants to talk movies for a second from West
21:41Virginia. Play it. Hey, Buck, you made a movie full pop.
21:46Indiana Jones. Temple of Doom did not take place during the 1950s.
21:50At the latest, it took place in the early 1930s, considering that it was a
21:55prequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark, which took place in the late, mid to
22:00late 1930s. I stand corrected.
22:04I think that caller is correct.
22:05I just was confused or forgot for a second.
22:08Isn't it the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull maybe is in the 50s or something?
22:12Isn't there one that's like Soviet era?
22:14It doesn't matter. He's right.
22:161930s, I think, is the Temple of Doom time frame.
22:20Yeah, look, the big surprise there, and this is one you can win a lot
22:24of trivia with, is that on the chronology scale, Raiders of the Lost Ark actually
22:30occurs after Temple of Doom.
22:32And that blows people's minds, but even though they were not made that way, that
22:37is the reality. By the way, we're getting a couple of questions.
22:38I think this also factors in.
22:40We're going to get to a ton of your talkbacks.
22:41We will continue to hammer through.
22:44When a U .S., people asking, now that Mark Wayne Mullen is out, presumably will
22:48be confirmed as the next DHS secretary, senator from Oklahoma, what happens?
22:53Different states have different rules about how the Senate seats are filled.
22:57When a U .S. Senate vacancy occurs in Oklahoma, governor is then able to appoint,
23:03must be a registered member of the same party as the predecessor, to fill the
23:08seat temporarily. Rarely, a special election is subsequently held to fill the remainder of the
23:13term. I don't know enough about Oklahoma election law.
23:17Maybe somebody out there is an expert on this.
23:19It seems to be a quick turn to have the Senate seat in Oklahoma available
23:24in 2026 now. So I don't know that you could do it in 2026.
23:29So the term might be filled until 2028.
23:33Different rules apply differently. Oklahoma governor, Republican Kevin Stitt.
23:37So there would be a Republican who would follow.
23:40I don't think Trump would be.
23:41For instance, he wouldn't have appointed Susan Collins to his cabinet because then the Democrat
23:47gets to put a Democrat in her place.
23:49So all of that is the particulars in a closely divided Senate as we go
23:55forward. This is funny, by the way.
23:56Chris in Phoenix, Arizona. M.
23:58This is Chris from Phoenix.
24:00Now that Jasmine Crockett has not been reelected, do you have to change the name
24:06of Crockett Coffee to AOC Coffee now?
24:10It's a shot. It's a shot.
24:11We've been saying for some time Crockett Coffee not connected to Jasmine Crockett, named after
24:15the legendary Texan Davy Crockett.
24:18But podcast listener Bill, he's also hammering on, also from Texas here, Cut D.
24:24Great news. Jasmine Crockett didn't make it any further in her political career, which now
24:32frees her up from any conflicts of interest to be the spokesmodel influencer of Crockett
24:39Coffee. I think that would be just an amazing transformation.
24:45You guys are thinking, coming up with some of the same jokes here.
24:49VIP email from a Southwest pilot, and this is referencing, okay, actually let me tee
24:55this up properly. It came out today that United Airlines now has an official policy,
25:00and you sign as part of the contract of carriage that you will use headphones
25:07on any device that creates sound.
25:10They can be Bluetooth. They can be wired.
25:12It doesn't matter. The point is you don't get to be a savage.
25:15You don't get to be a barbarian who sits there and watches loud videos on
25:22their phone, on their iPad, on their laptop, or whatever.
25:26This has been a scourge of the skies for too long.
25:30I, this is a true story, when I went to France last year, Clay, I
25:34had to turn around to the guy behind me.
25:35I gave him an extra set of my earbuds.
25:38I remember this. Because. This is a perfect buck story.
25:41You were angry about hearing his, and so you provided him with your own.
25:45I gave him earbuds, yes, which he then proceeded to use.
25:49But I was like, here you go, sir.
25:50I carry an extra pair so that people like you can't ruin the flight for
25:54everybody else. Because remember, if it's loud enough to be heard in the cabin, it's
25:59loud enough that you're going to hear it with your ear.
26:01So now everyone has to hear this cacophony.
26:02And United now says, not only can you be removed from the flight, you can
26:06be banned from flying United for multiple violations of this policy.
26:11I absolutely love it. It's been some great news today.
26:15I absolutely love this policy.
26:18VIP email from a Southwest pilot.
26:20He says, I'm a captain.
26:20This has been Southwest policy for some years now.
26:23No sound is allowed from any personal electronic devices.
26:26Headphones must be used or sound muted.
26:28No exceptions. Captain, please enforce that with rigorous efficiency.
26:33I have, I can vouch for this, and this is an all -time Southwest Airlines
26:39flight. I take Southwest Airlines, everybody, everywhere, on a flight to Las Vegas from Nashville.
26:47Legendary, now -deceased Major League Baseball player Pete Rose was in the row behind me,
26:52listening to Fox News loudly on his personal device.
26:58And the Southwest flight airlines attendant came around and said, sir, I'm sorry, you cannot
27:03listen to that. The hit king himself, Southwest Airlines, said, you need to have earbuds
27:09for that. By the way, one thing before we go to break here, we were
27:14just saying this. Let's go.
27:15Happened in a hurry because Mark Wayne Mullen was on Capitol Hill and all of
27:19the press grabbed him. And he was here.
27:22He is saying he found out just a couple of minutes before everybody else did
27:26cut 38. This just happening.
27:29Was Mark Wayne Mullen on the show this week?
27:31I think he was on the show this week, wasn't he?
27:33Monday or Tuesday, hanging out with us.
27:35Here he is saying he just found out a little bit before all of us
27:39cut 38. No, you know, the president has still got to communicate, so we'll talk
27:45about it moving forward. But I appreciate it, guys.
27:47Yeah, the president, I've already talked.
27:51Obviously, the statement went out, but we need to talk with the president.
27:54We're going to get on the same page and do what things we need to
27:57do. Do you want to make changes at DHS?
28:01When did you find out, sir?
28:03A little bit before you guys did.
28:06So, Mark Wayne Mullen, you come on the show Tuesday.
28:08Next thing you know, you're in the cabinet.
28:10He was on earlier this week, and he is en route, I believe, right now
28:15to the White House to meet with the president to talk about his new job.
28:18And again, Senator John Fetterman has already come out and said, hey, I'll vote for
28:24him. You got 53 yeses, you would think, from his colleagues on the Republican side.
28:29That's at least one Democrat.
28:31Confirmation will be pretty easy, I think, which is one reason why I believe President
28:36Trump likely picked Mark Wayne Mullen.
28:38Now, that seat needs to get filled soon by Oklahoma because, again, there is a
28:45close contest here in terms of being able to get anything through the Senate, just

30:07The Team 47 Podcast. Trump highlights from the week, Sundays at noon Eastern in the
30:13Clay and Buck podcast feed.
30:15Find it on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.
30:19Welcome back in, Clay Travis, Buck Sexton's show, a very news -centric show, as for
30:27those of you who just got in your car, Kristi Noem out.
30:31She's been replaced by Mark Wayne Mullen as the head of DHS, and you just
30:36heard from Mark Wayne Mullen as he is on his way to talk with the
30:40president. Secretary Noem spoke for 40 minutes at a Nashville law enforcement event, did not
30:48address the fact that she had been fired, has not publicly commented that we have
30:53seen, but is the first cabinet member to lose a job in Trump 2 .0.
30:59And again, the senator from Oklahoma, Mark Wayne Mullen, being elevated.
31:03So that is major breaking news, and certainly there will continue to be fallout from
31:08that. But let's see, podcast listener Jerome, this is Cut P, a lot of reactions,
31:19we're trying to get as many of them in as we can.
31:21Appreciate all of you who use the iHeart app to give us your talkbacks.
31:25You guys are fantastic. Here is Jerome.
31:28We talked about the success right before the Kristi Noem news came out.
31:32We talked about the success that Ron DeSantis has had in Florida and all the
31:36new residents that are moving there.
31:37Podcast listener, this is P.
31:39Hey, Clay and Buck, Jerome from Utah.
31:42I totally agree with your take on Ron DeSantis and how he's transformed that state
31:47from purple to red. And I just don't know why we can't get more Republican
31:52governors to follow in his footsteps.
31:55I kind of think of it in the terms of the NFL.
31:58It's a copycat league. Why can't we get more governors to copy Ron DeSantis?
32:04Well, my argument would be most governors are not as good as Ron DeSantis.
32:09If you want to make a sports analogy, like everybody's not Michael Jordan.
32:13Yeah, Michael Jordan's really good.
32:15We should have more people copy Michael Jordan.
32:17The better your talent is at a particular job, the harder you are to replace
32:22would be my take. And I think DeSantis really, again, is being rewarded for making
32:27hard decisions at a time of great complexity when it was COVID and being found
32:33right by the vast majority of the American public.
32:36Jay in Tempe, Arizona. Cut O.
32:41Guys, this is Jay in Tempe.
32:43I gotta say, I like the ad campaign.
32:46I thought Kristi Noem looked super hot and great in that cowboy hat and badass
32:51carrying a rifle. I don't know her personally, but I was like, yeah, let's get
32:56these illegal immigrants out of here.
32:59She rocks. So I was kind of sold by it.
33:03I'm glad that you think she looked hot in the campaign, Jay, from Arizona.
33:08$200 million is a lot of taxpayer money to light on fire.
33:11And also, I think Trump, at some level, realized she was running a stealth 2028
33:15campaign using taxpayer dollars. That's effectively what that is.
33:18This is why when I walked in the airport, I would see Kristi Noem videos
33:21every airport I go into.
33:24She's all made up and the whole thing.
33:26It's like, why am I watching videos of you in every airport I go into?
33:30She was promoting her brand, and she was promoting her brand using taxpayer dollars while
33:34a public servant. And then when she got called out on it, what did she
33:39do? Oh, it was Trump.
33:42For any of you who are like, oh, but it's fine.
33:44It's fine. Really? She tried to throw the big guy who gave her this shot
33:47under the bus? Not on Trump's watch.
33:51And now Mark Wayne Mullen is head of DHS.
33:54We were talking before all this news broke about the situation in Texas as well.
33:59Amanda's asking a question that a lot of people are reacting to.
34:02And she says, I have a Paxton -Cornyn question.
34:05Those are the two finalists in the runoff for the Republican Senate race.
34:10People are saying they will write in Paxton or not vote in November if he
34:14drops out before the runoff.
34:16Wouldn't that be disastrous if that happens?
34:18My general position on this, Buck, and everybody always gets mad at us when we
34:22say this, is ultimately people come around even when primary battles are nasty.
34:29Because we heard from a lot of people who were big fans of Ron DeSantis.
34:33Ron DeSantis and President Trump had a really kind of nasty primary campaign against each
34:39other. And remember, we would open up phone lines and people would call in and
34:42they would say, hey, I'm a big Ron DeSantis fan.
34:44I'm not going to vote for President Trump.
34:46And you and I would say, hey, we think this thing's going to end up
34:49being healed. And guess what?
34:51I think for the most part, people ended up voting for President Trump.
34:54Trump and Ron are golf buddies now.
34:57They're golf buddies. They're golf buddies.
34:59And I'm going to be on a panel with them tomorrow.
35:02President Trump is hosting a college sports panel with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis as one
35:07of the chairs along of Marco Rubio to try to fix college sports.
35:12I'm going to be doing the show from D .C.
35:13tomorrow and I'll be on the panel with them.
35:16My point on this is they get along well now.
35:20And so I don't know what the long range future of Paxton and Cornyn is,
35:25but I think whomever the Republican nominee ends up being will win.
35:29And some people will be upset, but they'll get over it because they'll look at
35:33Tal Rico. We need to play more of his audio.
35:35And they'll say, OK, this is not my ideal Republican Senate candidate, but this guy's
35:41crazy. If I have a choice between voting for a crazy Democrat or a Republican
35:46that might not be my first choice, I think most people in Texas will come
35:49around on that. Now, that's always controversial.
35:52And everybody always says, oh, I'll never vote for so and so.
35:56Most of the time it ends up being the case that they do.
35:59Big breaking news day, Buck.
36:01You never know what you're going to get when you start off the day.
36:03We thought Iran. We thought the Senate.
36:06Instead, Kristi Noem is gone and is out.
36:09And Mark Wayne Mullen is in.
36:10And the first of the cabinet moves of the president has been made.
36:16A lot of cool stuff going on in the world.
36:18A lot of things to talk about here.
36:19And we're going to continue to do just that.
36:22So make sure you go check out Clay and Buck YouTube and subscribe to the
36:27podcast network and make sure you use headphones when you're on flights.
36:33Very important. This is an iHeart Podcast.
36:38Guaranteed human.
