2:39Welcome back to A Numbers Game with Ryan Gurdosky, everyone.

2:41Thanks for being here. Happy Friday.

2:42We made it through the week.

2:44So the State of the Union was on Tuesday night, and I had to go

2:48to tape for the Wednesday episode before it aired, just because it was so late

2:52and, you know, Trump never stopped speaking.

2:53So we are taping our episode for the State of the Union today.

2:57I know it's a couple of days old, but bear with me.

2:59I have the great Scott Jennings on the show, radio host, CNN commentator, my favorite

3:07news network. But he'll be on to talk about it.

3:10But before, I want to actually start digging a little deeper into the State of

3:13the Union. So Trump's, not just the State of the Union speech, but the State

3:17of the Union, and most notably the State of the Republican Party and Trump.

3:22Trump's approval rating, President Trump's approval rating, are near all -time lows.

3:26I put together a few aggregate polling services, and that means it's a collection of

3:32recent polls, it's not just one singular poll.

3:34And they found that Trump's favorable number is around 41 .3 % to 55 .6

3:41% unfavorable. That is not good.

3:43Not where you want to be 248 days ahead of an election.

3:48And the problem for Trump right now is not that there's one singular issue guiding

3:52this, it's a bunch of issues.

3:54The most obvious one is the economy in Trump's first term, Trump term one.

4:00His numbers, the economy, the approval ratings, even though his personal approval ratings were pretty

4:04low because of all the, you know, there was so much leaking going on and

4:08people saying that he was, you know, working with Russia and all the rest of

4:12it. But his numbers on the economy were good for the entire administration.

4:16A Reuters, Ipsos, polls found that they were always around or above 50%.

4:21Trump's current approval rating on the economy is a dismal 36%.

4:28That's nearly exactly where it was for Biden at this time four years ago when

4:33he was looking at his midterm elections.

4:34They both have a negative 20 point approval rating.

4:39Immigration, the issue that got him to the White House twice, is not much better.

4:43He's at 39 % favorable.

4:48Ironically, that's basically where he was four years or eight years ago, rather, when his

4:54policies were not as aggressive as they are today, but they were equally as controversial.

4:59So it's funny because in my head, he was very favorable.

5:03He had a favorable opinion on immigration during the first term.

5:06And I looked up and no, it was actually kind of where it is today.

5:09It's at negative 15. According to that same Reuters, Ipsos poll, that is nowhere near

5:14Biden's numbers. Biden's numbers at this point, right ahead of the midterms, was negative 30.

5:20By the end of his presidency, it was almost negative 40.

5:23And that's also that's I mean, that's not great, but it's not the worst thing

5:29in the world is immigration numbers.

5:30The one thing dragging his numbers down across the board wears really, really awful is

5:36on cost of living. Trump is negative 33.

5:40According to a CNN poll, 68 percent of Americans believe his eye is on the

5:46wrong issue, that he's not focused on what they care about.

5:50You know, I'm going to say that Trump's conversations that he's had have made him

5:58look like he's focused on the wrong thing.

6:00A lot of foreign policy stuff, a lot of good foreign policy stuff, but America

6:04is not focused on foreign policy.

6:06But other things like trying to annex Canada or Greenland have been a negative distraction

6:12for the president. And they make people feel like, oh, he's talking about Greenland.

6:15He's not talking about my wallet.

6:17It makes people believe he's not focused on them.

6:20Once again, he's at negative 36.

6:24Biden was at 38 when it comes to are you focused on the correct issues?

6:30You shouldn't be where Biden is.

6:32It should be a rule.

6:33Don't be where Biden is.

6:34And when they asked Americans, what is the issue you folk you want Trump to

6:38focus on the most? It wasn't even close.

6:40It was 57 percent cost of living.

6:42Second highest was immigration at 13 points.

6:45I know some people will hear that and be like, oh, Democrats must be saying,

6:48no, Trump stopped with immigration.

6:49It was actually Republicans that said that Trump wanted to focus on immigration.

6:55Immigration was their second issue.

6:58Democrats' second issue, especially Democrats with a college degree, white Democrats with a college degree,

7:03was the state of democracy.

7:05That incompletely made up issue that is not real whatsoever and that they are obsessed

7:11with. If they cared that much about it, they should have demanded Democrats, Democrats should

7:16have demanded that Bill Clinton step down when he perjured himself.

7:19But they truly don't care about the state of democracy.

7:23OK, according to CNN poll, Democrats care about democracy as much as Republicans care about

7:29immigration. Republicans care about a real issue.

7:33Democrats care about a made up one.

7:35Now, let's talk about the state of the union.

7:37It was the longest state of the union in history.

7:40It kicked the Democrat response out of prime time, which was smart.

7:43But Abigail Spanberger, the governor of Virginia, speech was so insanely boring.

7:47Honestly, I don't think it would have really mattered whatsoever.

7:50So she had these weird like applause lines, but they were like the clapping stopped

7:55and started immediately as if someone was holding up a sign saying clap now and

7:58then stop, stop, stop immediately.

7:59Stop. It was very, very jarring.

8:02Also, the fact and maybe because I'm reading too much into it and I find

8:07a lot of Democrats being sufferable, mainly Abigail Spanberger.

8:10When she said that the mothers who are illegal immigrants living in fear, you know,

8:18have her heart and as a mother of three, which I love it when they

8:22put their own biography as that, you know, to show how much they actually mean

8:27about this. She wasn't so righteously indignatious when when her attorney general candidate was fantasizing

8:37about murdering children. She didn't have that same level of rage.

8:40I wonder why that is.

8:42Trump's speech was good, but it was very much a blueprint for Republicans going into

8:45the midterms. He said, hey, this is the way we're going to talk about lowering

8:49costs, about making life more affordable, about raising wages.

8:52He talked about the Trump Rx health care savings account, which sidebar, if you remember

8:58that part of the speech, he pointed to a woman in the audience who obviously

9:02he had brought there and he said she was the first person to get reduced

9:05costs in health care because of the Trump Rx account.

9:09And he said that she was suffering from infertility and she needed to use IVF.

9:14Um, OK, that's a little personal, like imagine if it was like and Tom over

9:24here, he has an undescended testicle.

9:26He can't have children like it was a lot like that was a lot.

9:29I felt like America didn't need to know her entire health care history.

9:33I didn't think that that served necessarily a purpose, but whatever.

9:36I mean, I laughed. I just was like, wow, this could have gone sideways.

9:40It was many other afflictions affecting people.

9:44Um, anyway, and he had, uh, he had a lot of shout outs.

9:48He had World War II veterans come out.

9:49He had the hockey team come out.

9:50I was like, if he has Savannah Guthrie's mother walk out pretty soon, it's just

9:53going to be nonstop standing ovations.

9:55Um, but he, it was good, but it's also a very aggressive speech.

10:00At one point, Trump referred to Democrats as sick people and he called them nuts.

10:05And he made an ab lid line.

10:07I looked this up. It wasn't actually in the speech.

10:09He just made it up.

10:10He said, stand up if you think the government should serve American citizens.

10:14Over illegal immigrants. And I don't, I don't think a single Democrat stood up.

10:18Some people said a one or two stood up, but I didn't see any.

10:21Almost no Democrats though stood up when he said the government should serve American citizens

10:27over illegal immigrants. See, that is Trump at his best because he orchestrated a moment.

10:33He produced something worthy of TV from a man who knows what television production looks

10:39and sounds like. Something that you will absolutely see on TV screens when Republicans and

10:44their affiliated groups spend some of the billion dollars that they have on behalf of

10:49Republicans running for statewide and congressional.

10:51offices. When Trump was calling them sick and nuts, he wasn't just insulting them.

10:56He was saying that they are beyond the pale.

10:58It's not that they just don't agree on one or two issues.

11:02It's just that they don't even see the purpose of government like we do.

11:06They do not believe it's there to protect American citizens.

11:09They are sick and nuts.

11:11He made, and that was very, very, very effective, probably the most effective part of

11:16the whole speech. He made some claims that were obviously not true.

11:20I'm not going to fact check everything.

11:21One of those was that data centers and AI companies will be paying for their

11:24own electricity bills. That is frankly completely untrue.

11:27And there was a bill to do that and congressional Republicans opposed it, but that's

11:31neither here or there. The company Navigator Research was a pretty liberal organization, but they

11:36had Republicans and independents dial on how they reacted at certain things that Trump said.

11:42And amazingly, one of the things that they actually turned the knobs down for, including

11:47Republicans, was when he talked about foreign policy, I really just think Americans don't care

11:54about foreign policy right now.

11:55They just, there's no major terrorist attack.

11:58There's no major war that we're involved in.

12:00And he, you can't make Americans care about it.

12:02It's like fetch. It's just not happening.

12:05Overall though, and I don't mean to nitpick.

12:08I just, it was a very interesting observation.

12:12Overall though, it was very skilled speech and the outlined Republicans plan for a lot

12:18of things. Remember back a couple of weeks ago, there was a conversation that the

12:24White House had with congressional Republicans and pollsters and said, this is the way you

12:30need to talk about these issues, right?

12:33So talking about the Trump accounts for children, which is probably the most brilliant policy

12:37outside of immigration that Trump's had this entire term, talking about the big, beautiful bill

12:43and how it impacts taxpayers and cost savings to taxpayers.

12:47And the day after the State of the Union, the ABC Washington Post poll had

12:52a release on the congressional ballot and they found that Republicans are at a two

12:55point disadvantage overall. Voters favor Democrats 47 to 45.

13:00That's not that bad. It's not where you want to be, but it's not, it's

13:03not horrendous. It's not as bad as other polls.

13:05Another recent Quinnipiac poll from just Pennsylvania gave Democrats a six point advantage and a

13:10different poll in Texas found a loan, found that in the Lone Star State, they

13:14were tied generically. I mean, that's, that's ABC Washington Post poll is much better.

13:18The one big glaring red warning sign out of the ABC Washington Post poll that

13:25was worthy of paying attention to was voter enthusiasm.

13:3079 % of Harris supporters say they are certain to vote in the next election

13:35compared to only 65 % of Trump voters.

13:39Among young people, it's even more lopsided.

13:4277 % of young Harris supporters will vote.

13:4651 % of young Trump supporters will vote.

13:49And among those who are absolutely certain to vote right now, it is an 11

13:53point skew, 55 to 44 Democrat.

13:56There are a lot of Republicans who are just not amped up to vote this

14:01early. They're still very apathetic.

14:03That is why, aside from the economy, Trump was mentioning so many red meat issues

14:09for Republicans, immigration, DEI, culture issues, you know, the transing of children, calling out Democrats

14:16for refusing to stand up for America, talking about the 250th anniversary of America.

14:21You know, all those things were to say, hey, Republicans, wake up.

14:25There's an election and I'm still your guy.

14:28You may not have liked this thing or that thing.

14:30You may not like my policy on, you know, this or that.

14:33However, I'm your guy because I'm delivering nine out of the 10 things that you

14:38will, you know, you will support.

14:40He got one standing ovation that was bipartisan, which was ending congressional insider trading.

14:45That's okay. It's not that big of a deal.

14:47But can it work? Can Trump's policies actually effectively deliver?

14:54Well, let's see and change Republicans, change Republicans course as far as support for the

14:59midterms. A CNN instant exit poll found that 38 % of people who watch the

15:04state of the union found it was very favorable.

15:0625 % said somewhat favorable and 36 had a negative reaction to it.

15:11You can guess how many Democrats, what percentage of the audience was Democrats or Democratic

15:14-leaning independents. Will we see a bump for Trump?

15:18I doubt it. Maybe a point or two.

15:21It doesn't say the union is not what it used to be.

15:23It doesn't provide the big bumps like it used to.

15:27It's free airtime for a president, which is why they haven't changed it back to

15:30just writing a letter to Congress.

15:32But that doesn't matter. It might give enough Republicans the enthusiasm they need and give

15:40the instructions to Republicans at a whole saying, I, this country is better because I'm

15:44in charge and we are doing more for you on a myriad of issues because

15:48the Republicans aren't in charge to keep us in charge.

18:45you my friend always a pleasure so scott what did you think of the state

18:48of the union address what was your big takeaway well number one takeaway i think

18:53the moment that will live on forever is when donald trump asked every member of

18:58congress to stand up and affirm that their highest duty is to protect the american

19:03people is a simple question and every republican stood up and every democrat sat there

19:08stone -faced mark kelly you know there was that cutaway with miserable mark kelly looking

19:13you know just miserable about it i honestly couldn't believe it this is a simple

19:17question that a hundred percent of the american people could answer in the affirmative and

19:22not a single democrat could do it so that's the number one moment uh look

19:26i interviewed eight members of the u .s senate on my radio show today every

19:31single one of them was happy with the president's speech and they found individual things

19:35about it that really appeal to their constituents back home for instance dan sullivan in

19:40alaska love the energy stuff mark wayne mullen was really hot to trot on the

19:44public safety stuff today democrats couldn't even stand up for the uh mother of irena

19:49zarutska and so you go around you know uh john housted from ohio he was

19:53really into the president's discussion of how we're growing the private sector and manufacturing jobs

19:58while we're shrinking the size of government the speech was long but that meant there

20:02was a lot in it for a lot of different republicans i haven't spoken to

20:05a republican today who wasn't anything other than thrilled with the president's performance yeah and

20:09i thought that it was kind of a blueprint for republicans in the midterms because

20:14i mean there was this meeting that happened in the white house maybe about a

20:18month or so ago with suzy and with a poll with tony fabrizio and members

20:23of the congressional republican caucus and they said this is how we're going to address

20:27these issues and that was really the outline of what he was saying on a

20:30number of things from trump rx to the trump savings plan um and trying to

20:36really tell tell americans like hey look we are actually care about your cost of

20:41living it is his biggest net negative and it is the biggest issue for voters

20:45right now a couple of things on that front that jumped out to me number

20:49one this was actually a very disciplined trump on messaging to your point they have

20:54a plan on messaging he was very disciplined on it he didn't really get off

20:58the script all that often and when he did i thought it was actually kind

21:02of effective i heard the stand -up thing was ad -libbed right he didn't he

21:05just made up on the stand -up for for the country that wasn't in the

21:09script that was brilliant trump i'm a producer i'm going to orchestrate a television moment

21:14right there which he does best but then you look at the policy stuff and

21:20this is where he got really specific it wasn't just platitudes i mean it's talking

21:25specifically about trump rx and then you have someone who used trump rx to get

21:30a massive discount on their ivf drugs talking specifically about how the trump tax cut

21:37provisions from last summer helped an individual family i mean and then you had these

21:42specific people uh who were impacted by the immigration policies of the you Democrats or

21:47the criminal justice policies of the Democrats.

21:50This wasn't really a speech about platitudes.

21:52It was about very specific things that, you know, any of us could point to

21:57and say, yeah, I could see how that would impact my own personal life.

22:00And so if you're if you were looking for the president to tell you, here's

22:04what I ran on and here's how I checked the boxes.

22:07He really did do that last night.

22:09And in a very specific way, it was a lot of discipline for him to

22:12do that. Yeah, I kind of laughed when he said she has infertility issues.

22:18So I was like, imagine if it was like foot fungal cream that they needed

22:22or something disgusting. You'd be like, yeah, this man's body is a disgrace right now.

22:27And he has the Trump Rx card.

22:30Yeah, I thought that was interesting.

22:32And I thought that was very smart because in so many ways, Trump, Trump being

22:37Trump, he has kind of dismissed the cost of living as an issue many times

22:41publicly. And although I mean, he has it is what it is.

22:46And I think that he I think that so often when he's got lost in

22:51comments about Greenland or annexing Canada or whatever the case is, Americans are really tired

22:57of foreign policy. We're not a foreign policy.

22:59We're not in a foreign policy moment.

23:01We're very much in a I need some me time, attention time.

23:05And yeah, that's why I think that the speech had very little foreign policy into

23:09it. There was a little bit here and there, but not much.

23:13And I think it's why Americans have felt that Trump is not care on their

23:17care about the issues that they care about, because he has had these moments that

23:22even though they're not big moments, they're they're regurgitated in the media.

23:26Seventy five million times all they want to talk about is Greenland or Canada or

23:31whatnot. And I think that that was very, very smart.

23:34I think that it was more of his more principled time.

23:37There was an ABC Washington Post poll that found that Democrats have a two point

23:41generic ballot advantage, which is not that bad, actually.

23:44It's a very good poll for Republicans.

23:46But I mean, as compared to other polls.

23:48Yeah. The one concerning thing was there's a big 18 point gap upon people who

23:53want to go out and vote.

23:54Democrats really are chomping the vote, which we've seen a lot of special elections.

23:59I think that's why interjecting so much red meat into the conversation to say the

24:03union was necessary, telling Republicans, I know you may not love me for name it,

24:10you know, whatever, Greenland, Epstein, whatever the case in which you're annoyed about me.

24:14I it doesn't matter because I'm your guy.

24:16And these people, when he called them nuts, there was a very choice series of

24:21words because it wasn't like, hey, we just just agree on the issues.

24:24They don't even see the same country that we see.

24:27Is that to you right?

24:30Yeah, absolutely. And that's what Republicans wanted to hear.

24:33And honestly, Democrats walked right into the trap.

24:36And of course, there's no issue on which there's a brighter line in this vein

24:42than immigration. And when you ask Democrats, can you just stand up and affirm that

24:48your highest duty is to American citizens and not illegal immigrants and they can't do

24:53it? When you talk about that little girl, Delilah, and say, hey, maybe we shouldn't

24:57be giving, you know, CDLs to illegal immigrants who can't speak English or read the

25:01road signs or follow any of our laws and they can't get into that even.

25:06It is a bright line issue.

25:08I believe it's still his best issue.

25:10I know what the economy, I know affordability, I know these things are top of

25:14mind for voters. I still believe Donald Trump's reason for being on the national stage

25:19for the last 10 years is in large part because of immigration.

25:23It was a mess. People don't want all these illegal immigrants here.

25:27They not only connect it to public safety, they connect it to their economic conditions.

25:30They connect it to their own quality of living.

25:33And the Democrats are crazy on this issue.

25:37He is exactly right. And there's no issue on which they spend more energy.

25:41Can you think of an issue on which they spend more energy defending the 20

25:46of an 80 -20 than trying to keep 20 million illegal immigrants here?

25:50Trump knows it. He is a dog with a bone on this.

25:52And for good reason, it's good policy.

25:54But in this case, it's also good politics.

25:57So, you know, for all of the defense of illegal aliens and all the attacks

26:00on ICE and abolish ICE and defund ICE, I think Trump knows Democrats have handed

26:05him another thing where, look, you know, the American people, you know, whatever they think

26:10about certain issues in the fall, they're going to look at these Democrats and say,

26:13well, wait a minute. They still care more about illegal immigrants than American citizens.

26:17They still care more about transgender surgeries for minors than they do about, you know,

26:23other things. They're just not normal enough for me to vote for.

26:26That's the Trump bet. And you saw it in the speech last night.

26:29And that's what Democrats did to Republicans in 2022 so often.

26:33He said they said these who are not normal.

26:36And I did it to, like, you know, Carrie Lake or to other people where

26:39they sat there, the guy running for governor in Pennsylvania.

26:44And you are, I mean, immigration is the issue that made him a president.

26:47There's not one thing that really differentiated Trump from, I mean, there's a lot of

26:54things personally, but not on policy -wise, tariffs and immigration.

26:59But immigration the most was the thing that got him elected.

27:03And my friend Ann Coulter says this, and I never thought of it this way,

27:07but I kind of agree.

27:08She said, how did you think that Biden's open borders were going to end?

27:13Like, where, what? How did they where did they think that this was going to

27:17end after having four million people come in illegally?

27:20Like just another set of people we're going to give amnesty to will all be

27:25forgiven. It's like the movie Men in Black where they they have a little pen

27:29and it has a light and everyone just forgets what just happened.

27:32They really kind of expected, oh, no, there's no ramifications for what we just did

27:38and openly let anyone in the world come.

27:42I mean, that's that's really where it comes down to.

27:45They believe their own B .S.

27:47as it relates to illegal immigrant populations.

27:50I mean, they must really believe that illegal immigrant populations are somehow better for the

27:55economy than getting American citizens working again.

27:58They must really believe that there is no fraud in the illegal immigrant community, say,

28:03in Minnesota. They must really believe that the country would be better off if we

28:07imported the worst people from the third world all over this globe.

28:11They must really believe that because they are fighting tooth and nail to get them

28:16here and to keep them here.

28:17And I'll tell you one more thing, Ryan.

28:18I think people are connecting that posture to this debate over the Save America Act.

28:24And they're asking themselves, oh, wait a minute.

28:27Democrats worked really hard to open the borders.

28:28They're working really hard to keep people here.

28:30And now they're working really hard to stop us from showing an I .D.

28:34to vote in a federal election.

28:36I think people aren't stupid.

28:38I think the American people are pretty smart.

28:39And I think they see the through line and all these, you know, what I

28:42think are politically insane positions for the Democrats to take.

28:45Did you see the Democrats counter convention that they had with the people dressed up

28:51as ducks and you didn't see that?

28:56Oh, I see it. Oh, you did.

28:58Yeah. Yeah. None of none of this looks like I mean, it's it's crazy.

29:03And here's the thing. If you just like looked at a clip of it, you

29:07might say, wait a minute, is this a I or wait a minute, is this

29:10an Asian national convention? No, these are Democrats.

29:15This is how crazy they dress up as things.

29:17They've got grannies out here doing aerobics in front of ice facilities.

29:20They're making up folk songs.

29:23These are not serious people.

29:25And then their elected representatives.

29:27That's who they're beholden to.

29:29And so then they go in the halls of Congress and that's why they can't

29:31stand up when the president says, hey, are we all here?

29:34Do we all agree that we're our highest duty to see the American people?

29:37That's why they can't stand up, because they're beholden to these nutty radicals that you

29:42see doing all this performative crap on the streets of America.

29:46Yeah. Jay Powell, the Democrat from Washington, was screaming about transgender children.

29:52I mean, screaming. And I said, if you were to see something like that on

29:54a corner, you would tell your child to avert their eyes because that is so

29:59insane. Listen, Andy Beshear, my governor from Kentucky, who is the supposed moderate running for

30:08president, has apparently decided to make the centerpiece of his entire presidential campaign, dying on

30:15the hill of mutilating children.

30:17He goes, it's the number one thing he mentions in every interview.

30:20He will die on this hill.

30:22Now, this is their moderate candidate for president, dying on the hill of transgender surgeries

30:28for minors, which, by the way, was one of the issues that sunk Kamala Harris.

30:32They've learned nothing, Ryan. They are doubling, tripling, and quadrupling down on the stuff that

30:38makes them seem crazier than, you know what, rats.

30:42And that, I don't get it, but that's what they've chosen to do.

30:45Yeah. And Jay Powell was the same Democrat, by the way, who said that America

30:49was built by Somalis. Somalis, Africans, and I forget the third.

30:52I think it was probably Mexicans, but definitely not white men.

30:55We're not included in that number whatsoever.

30:57We did not. We've been sitting here idly by just being fanned by our servants.

31:01What did you think of Abigail Spanberger's response?

31:06You know, she is. I don't know what to make of her.

31:12First of all, she's another one of these Democrats they like to position as a

31:15moderate. Yeah. She's been governor for a month or almost two months now and has

31:19been the most radical Democrat governor in the country.

31:21So that's number one. Number two, even when she talks about immigration, you know, she

31:25said, you know, she described illegal immigrants as people who aspire to be Americans.

31:30It's like, I mean, they keep coming up with these euphemisms to explain why they

31:35want to abolish ICE and not have any immigration enforcement at all.

31:38And they keep describing these populations in terms that they would never describe American citizens.

31:45They do not like American citizens.

31:48I don't know what has happened to Democrats.

31:50They are an American political party who hates their own constituents and they love illegal

31:55aliens more than they love the people that are their own constituents.

31:59She fell into that trap last night.

32:01It's just fetishizing. It's a fetishization of them.

32:05And here's the thing is they say the word immigrant as if it's like a

32:08bag of oranges, as if we want to take one, we got to take them

32:11all. And as if that there's equal outcomes among immigrant populations, which just there are

32:16in certain immigrant populations are enormously successful and other ones, not so much.

32:21And it's been like that for a very, very long time.

32:24I thought you're when your appearance in CNN, you had on the state representative from

32:28Texas, the guy who the theater kid who's kind of pretending to be MLK Jr.

32:32And you asked him, is there a single immigrant that you would?

32:35They're all theater kids. It's unbelievable.

32:38Is there any immigrant you would deport?

32:40And he he just sort of.

32:42filibustering about killing Americans from ICE.

32:45And also, one other thing I want your opinion of, there's been, I think, 200

32:50Americans detained by ICE who were legal Americans of several hundred thousand encounters.

32:57So if you were to make that a parallel to a major metropolitan city in

33:02the entire country, that's one of the better ones as far as detaining someone who

33:07was not criminally charged or anything.

33:09Every law enforcement agency in the country detains people at times who are not criminally

33:15convicted and innocent, and it just happens because no one's perfect.

33:19Some of the people being detained are actively trying to interfere with federal law enforcement

33:26detaining people who are illegal immigrants.

33:29That's the reason they were detained, because they were part of, say, an illegal immigrant

33:35sting situation, and they're interfering.

33:37They're in the middle of it somehow.

33:38They're part of it. And so, look, the Democrats throw out all these numbers, and

33:44they try to act like this is statistically abnormal.

33:48It's not. You go back in the Obama years, they also would detain American citizens

33:53occasionally. They also, you know, again, they were having hundreds of thousands of interactions as

33:57well. And, you know, even people who died in custody, people who had things happen

34:01to them in custody, I think Obama had far more than Trump had, even by

34:05a percentage. And so, look, they are trying to paint an untrue picture for the

34:11American people about what's happening.

34:12And they want people to believe that no illegal immigrants are being detained, that only

34:16American citizens are being harassed.

34:18It's simply not true. And every illegal is just a mother dropping her cover of

34:21school. Exactly. And that's not true.

34:24It's not true. And a lot of these people have very violent criminal history.

34:29Some of them have nonviolent criminal history.

34:31Some of them are engaged in fraud.

34:33But you know what? The bottom line is, if you're in the country illegally, Tom

34:36Holman has said, you're on the board for us.

34:39You know, we're not really interested in giving a pass to anyone here just because

34:42you haven't committed additional crimes to the crime of coming into the country.

34:47That's what the American people voted for because they know this.

34:51If you show leniency to any illegal immigrant population, that's when the border reopens.

34:58The reason the border is closed is because people know if they come here, they're

35:01not going to get across.

35:02They're going to be deported.

35:03They're going to be stopped.

35:04Under Biden, people came here by the hundreds of thousands because they knew if they

35:07could get across, it would probably work out for them.

35:10That is the difference in attitude.

35:12That's why the border is closed.

35:13The Democrats act like, well, you know, we should just leave anyone alone who doesn't

35:19have, you know, who's not a murderer.

35:20Let's just leave all the non -murderers here.

35:22No, that is an invitation to reopen the border.

35:26Americans are not stupid. They know this.

35:28Yeah, and it's also you're cutting a check for the drug cart, the human smugglers

35:32and the cartel. The cartel made billions under Biden with human smuggling and you are

35:37cutting them a check because people stop paying them because they know they can't get

35:41across the border. And I mean, that's the truth.

35:44How effective in your mind would a message around we can't go back be for

35:51Republicans? Because even I sometimes forget the thousands of illegals crossing the border under Biden,

35:57what that looked like. I mean, I really, I saw a clip and I was

36:00like, oh, right, screw these people.

36:01They're all horrible. Everyone who advocated for this.

36:05But how effective would that kind of messaging go to?

36:08Because it's because COVID and the years after COVID were so insane between BLM, between

36:16COVID, between the open border.

36:19We kind of just can't believe we lived through it.

36:21It's like when you're dealing with a relative who's sick and your whole life is

36:24in chaos and then they pass away and you're like, I can't believe that was

36:27my life for two years.

36:28Like I didn't sleep for two years.

36:29That's insane that that was my whole life.

36:31That was our life for four years.

36:33And I worry that too many Americans have just been like, oh, wait, this is

36:37normal. We're just talking about if Trump's too aggressive over trying to occupy Greenland.

36:41We forgot that, you know, we were having language codes and people were losing their

36:45jobs and everything was race -based and, you know, boys and girls didn't exist and

36:49there was no binary on the gender scale.

36:51Like we just, I think a lot of people have forgotten and I think that's

36:55a big part of that.

36:56So how would effective would that kind of messaging go?

36:59I think if you just looked at the immigration issue, it would be quite effective

37:03if only because Democrats cannot in this moment today admit they were wrong and they

37:11cannot come up with a moderate or reasonable alternative to what Trump is presenting.

37:16The Democratic median position is abolish ICE, abolish Customs and Border Patrol, deport no one,

37:24no one, even the most violent don't get deported and reopen the border.

37:28That is the median Democrat position.

37:31And by the way, you look at these Senate and House races, who's winning?

37:34It's the people with that radical position.

37:36They're the ones with the energy in the Democratic primaries.

37:39So if they could even just bring themselves to say, actually, you know what?

37:44We went too far. We should deport X, Y, and Z.

37:47When I debated that guy the other night from Tennessee, I thought for sure he

37:50would say, well, you know, anyone who committed a violent crime, they're out.

37:54He couldn't even say that because the Democratic base will not permit them to say

37:58that. So I think because they don't have a current position that's reasonable, you can

38:03pin the old position on them, pin the current position on them, and say, listen,

38:08whatever you think about immigration, whatever you think about...

38:09Ice, your choices here are close the border and deport illegals, reopen the border and

38:15keep everybody, rapists and murderers and child molesters and child traffickers included.

38:20I know where the American people are going to fall on that.

38:23They are going to back Trump.

38:25They will back him. And Democrats don't have the wherewithal to stop them because they

38:29can't admit how wrong they were.

38:32All right. I have one last question.

38:33It's a media question for you.

38:35You just and you don't have to answer, but someone who I'd be being the

38:40foil on CNN has been great for you because you get the most airtime because

38:43they have to you get to be the bad guy.

38:46I got to be the bad guy for like a nanosecond, but you get to

38:48be the bad guy. So you get a lot more attention.

38:51Has there ever what is the moment where you couldn't believe someone said something out

38:55loud where you were like, did you just literally like that's actually what you believe?

38:58Was there ever a moment you were like, this is the craziest thing I've ever

39:02heard? And you're just you you believe it and you said it on national television.

39:06Anything agreeing out to you?

39:09Well, I've been on for some crazy moments.

39:11A while back, I was on with a guy who literally sat there next to

39:15me. Ture is his name.

39:17He doesn't work for CNN.

39:18He's awful. Yeah. He got fired for sexual harassment.

39:22He literally said he did not believe that Donald Trump was shot at Butler, Pennsylvania.

39:27So we were talking about political violence.

39:29And I said, well, you know, the president has some experience with this.

39:31And he said, well, I don't.

39:32I don't know if he was shot.

39:34And I, you know, I thought for a minute he might be kidding.

39:37No, he actually does. He's an honest to goodness ear truther.

39:41He does not believe in his reasoning.

39:44I wasn't there. I wasn't there.

39:46But he's an ear truther.

39:47I heard that. I was on the other night with somebody.

39:50And I said, would you honestly advise somebody if they witnessed a federal law enforcement

39:56situation to like literally walk up to the middle of it and put their hands

40:01on a cop or get in the middle of it or interfere?

40:03And the person, yes, I would advise them to do that.

40:05And I'm like, you would not advise somebody to commit a felony.

40:09Surely you didn't just say that.

40:10No, no, I really would.

40:11I've heard that. I heard all kinds of crazy nonsense during the kid who accused

40:17Trump of I forget. He had to apologize.

40:21I guess his lawyers called him like, you have to take this back.

40:23You're going to get sued.

40:24Oh, he made crazy allegations.

40:26He made crazy allegations against the president that are not supported or corroborated by any

40:32evidence whatsoever. I've heard that out there.

40:35You know, even even the other night that Pearson fellow from Tennessee, not able to

40:41come up with a single kind of illegal immigrant that you would want to deport

40:45that that even to me.

40:47I mean, this guy's running for Congress.

40:49Oh, he is from Tennessee.

40:51No. Yes, he's running. He's running against Cohen, who's the only Democrat left in the

40:55Tennessee delegation. Oh, he's running for the Memphis seat.

40:58Wow. The only Democrat seat in Tennessee.

41:02Yeah, he could. I've heard a lot of crazy things out there.

41:07And when I hear them, it reminds me a couple of things.

41:11One, liberals live in a very tight ideological bubble.

41:15Like they talk only to each other and they say increasingly unhinged things to each

41:20other. And then, you know, when when they end up interacting with a Republican or

41:23a conservative or even just a normal person, they're shocked at how people react, you

41:28know, to these positions that they hold.

41:30But understand, these are the median Democrat positions.

41:34This is what most Democrats actually believe.

41:37So it's not even like the things that I hear are outlandish or on the

41:41fringe. No, these are at the dead center of the Democratic Party.

41:45So when I hear Donald Trump at the State of the Union say, these people

41:47are crazy. It rings true to me because I'm the one sitting out there listening

41:51to it night after night after night.

41:53Yeah, it's the evolution of the governor of Minnesota who went from a legitimate moderate

41:59when he was in the House of Representatives to being a complete nutbag as governor

42:02is what happens when you govern via Twitter.

42:05Like governing via Twitter is what has happened to the entire Democratic Party.

42:09They're like, we cannot get dragged when Tim Walz, who is the biggest buffoon in

42:15American politics, is openly fantasizing about he's out here openly fantasizing about Minneapolis being the

42:22next Fort Sumter. This is something he said.

42:25Can you imagine if a Republican governor was like, hmm, I really I really envision

42:31my state as being the tip of the spear in a new American civil war?

42:36We would be in 24 -7 coverage of Republicans threatening civil war.

42:42Tim Walz is out here fantasizing about being the Jefferson Davis of the modern era.

42:48And it's just not even like a blip.

42:51It's not even like a blip for people.

42:52It's crazy to me how nuts he is gone.

42:55Yeah. I mean, he is off his hinges and also him surviving a civil war

42:59is slim to none. So I wouldn't recommend it.

43:01I mean, if it's crazy, he's nowhere, he's nowhere near as crazy as that lieutenant

43:07governor they got up there, Flanagan.

43:09And she's probably going to be the Senate nominee in that state.

43:13If you think Tim Walz is nuts, wait till you meet Peggy Flanagan.

43:16She might be the most left wing radical nut the Democrats are running anywhere.

43:22And that is a high bar to jump over.

43:23But they might have it in planning.

43:24Well, I'm rooting for Jasmine Crockett in Tennessee to win the nomination from that role.

43:29Listen, my African queen, Jasmine Crockett, I'm all about it because she needs to be

43:35the Democrat I spoke for.

43:37for 2026. I am, I am sold on that, that her black scent and everything

43:42else that she's got going on.

47:39Has there ever been an observable bump in election results for the party that embraces

47:43USA pride coming out of the Olympics or major team USA sports like the Women's

47:47World Cup back in 1998?

47:50The last two days have been nothing but videos of Olympic hockey games, winning goals,

47:55celebrations of home videos, or Alyssa lose pure joy at winning and then the lefts

47:59are just writing articles posting about it or not being proud.

48:03Could Republicans do something up with the 250th celebration to bring voters out that they

48:07love the USA? As Charlie Kirk said, men must vote and this could be a

48:11way to drive them out.

48:12Or is it a great, or is it just a great time for the team

48:14USA? So in 1998, well, one, in past elections, when you go back decades, Democrats'

48:24level of patriotism was much higher than it is now, right?

48:27It's difficult because in the past, there was different levels of patriotism.

48:32For the Olympics, though, I'm trying to think.

48:35Four years ago, it would have been a presidential election with the Olympics removed because

48:38of COVID. And then you have to go four years before that to 2016.

48:43I don't think that there's ever been a bump because of the Olympics related to

48:49patriotism. Certainly, patriotism has rallied people in the case of war to vote for Republicans.

48:54We've seen that in the recent past with George W.

48:57Bush and 9 -11. And we've seen that all across Europe, where the right -wing

49:03parties were winning elections after terrorism.

49:05attacks happen. But as far as it goes for, I just don't think that they

49:08happen at the right time.

49:09And even Super Bowl happens after the election day, I guess World Series does, but

49:15it's too regional. So no, I don't find that it's ever been the case that

49:21it drives people out to go vote.

49:23It is an interesting thing.

49:24And yes, men do need to vote more.

49:26It is a big drag for the Republicans that men don't vote as often as

49:30women do. If they voted more often, I think that we would have won a

49:34couple more tighter elections than we did.

49:36If going into the summer, Republicans do need to bring out men and advertising into

49:43men's sporting events would probably be a big part of it.

49:47But some people, especially in the South where football is huge, I know people don't

49:52want politics intruding on their things at all, on their sports at all.

49:58I think that maybe trying to push into the frat societies and the frat culture.

50:06I don't know. It's very, very tough.

50:07How do you individualize for men?

50:09Obviously, gun shows are a big thing.

50:11Obviously, some other stuff is big, like men's groups and men's societies.

50:16But that's the problem with a culture that has very few unifying entities.

50:22Everyone has their own thing.

50:24And most of the stuff's online.

50:25It's not in person. So yeah, it's tough.

50:28But you're right about that.

50:29But no, I don't know of any evidence.

50:30And it's in 1998 in the Women's World Cup.

50:33The Democrats won that election because of backlash over the Monica Lewinsky trial that they

50:39thought it was going too far.

50:40So yeah, I don't have any I don't have any recent evidence.

50:43But great question, though. Very smart.
