Hour 1 - Clay's On-the-Scene Account from WHCD

4/27/202637 mincomplete
0:00This is an iHeart Podcast.
0:02Guaranteed human. Welcome, everybody, to the Monday edition of the Clay, Travis, and Buck Sexton
0:09show. And today's going to be one of those days where one story, one incident,
0:16I think, defines the news cycle and much of the conversation.
0:20There was another attempted assassination of Donald Trump over the weekend, this time an armed
0:28maniac at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
0:33He had a pistol, a shotgun, a knife.
0:36He made a run for it, passed Secret Service.
0:39He was tackled to the ground.
0:41Nobody was killed. But, wow, it was quite a scene.
0:47A lot of video of firsthand people who were there.
0:50But we actually can do better than that for you in this discussion because our
0:55own Clay Travis was, in fact, at the dinner, heard the gunshots, saw Secret Service
1:03run into the room. Clay, I've got to just hand this over to you, my
1:05friend. First of all, glad you and Laura are safe.
1:09And you did look fabulous in the pre -incident photos.
1:13So, well done on that.
1:14Yeah, we'll start with a positive.
1:16Laura did a great job looking good.
1:18She looked fantastic. I looked about as good as I can do, which is, you
1:22know, just okay. But she looked great.
1:26And we were seated near the front table where President Trump was scheduled to talk.
1:33As all of you know, I was expecting, as I would imagine many of you
1:37were as well, that we were going to get a real just vintage Trump, maybe
1:44Trump at his best. I was thinking, Buck, something akin to the Al Smith dinner.
1:49Remember the one that happened in October right before the 2024 election where Trump came
1:55out and just told absolutely great jokes and was particularly just affable and very much
2:02of a likable figure. So we're sitting down.
2:05I had just been sitting at the table having a conversation about the fact whether
2:09we expected for any of the left -wingers in the room to kind of throw
2:14a fit and protest when President Trump was there.
2:19And all of a sudden, there's a great deal of emotion and clatter and noise.
2:26And it's occurring to my back.
2:30And so everybody starts screaming, get down.
2:35Mark Wayne Mullen was at, he and his wife, we had a good time talking
2:40with them, were at our table.
2:42Secret Service is rushing in to get everybody out.
2:46And they're saying, get down, get down.
2:49My wife is next to me.
2:51And she is crouching down towards the ground.
2:55Rachel Compost Duffy was, for those of you who watch Fox and Friends on the
2:59weekend, she's awesome. Sean Duffy's wife was sitting right next to her.
3:03And they're leaned over. I'm leaned over a little bit.
3:06And then I hear, Buck, what sounds to me like a pop, pop, pop of
3:11gunfire. And then I go over and cover up Laura and Rachel, who are on
3:19the ground. And I look up, and we're right by the front of the rostrum
3:24where the president is going to be.
3:26And he's now been evacuated along with J .D.
3:28Vance. Everybody's off the stage.
3:29And then there are guys with long guns.
3:33And we've been to a lot of events where guys with long guns are.
3:37This is the first time, Buck, I've ever seen them with the guns raised, where
3:42they're swiveling around, looking in the room.
3:44And at that point in time, my concern was, did the shooting happen in the
3:49ballroom, which I didn't know, or had it occurred outside, which we later found out.
3:53But looking up at those guys who have the long guns and have them up
3:58on their cheeks and their hands on near the trigger guard, where they're looking around,
4:02thinking they might have to take people out.
4:05That was a, oh, wow moment for us.
4:10We were all fine. Everybody was fine in the room.
4:13But as you know, oftentimes, if you're at an event, you have a worse ability.
4:18Cell phones were not working very well.
4:21And it was difficult to kind of piece together everything that happened.
4:25Initially, we thought President Trump was going to come back in because they told us
4:28that he was. And then, as you can well imagine, Secret Service said, no, there's
4:35no way we're going back into this room.
4:37Who knows what else? Dangers might be out there.
4:39And so it was crazy.
4:42Before we get into the political analysis of this, as in Democrats, the left clearly
4:48have a huge violence problem.
4:51And they don't, I think, view it as a problem.
4:53I think it's actually a feature, not a bug of their rhetoric.
4:56But we'll get into that.
4:57The security at the venue, you went through it.
5:01A lot of conversation online in the immediate aftermath of this incident saying, it was
5:08very lax until you got to the actual ballroom where everyone was gathered.
5:12Talk us through that part of it.
5:14The security at the, you know, at the event.
5:16Yeah. So in order, this is a big hotel, the Washington Hilton.
5:20I think it has a thousand rooms, something like that.
5:23About a mile and a half from.
5:24About a mile and a half from.
5:24the white house in order to get into the hotel you just had to flash
5:30a ticket not even a ticket for the white house correspondence dinner there were tons
5:35of parties going on in the hotel every media organization was having a party in
5:41the ballroom underneath it all these different locations i don't there's probably 20 ballrooms in
5:46this place uh and so zero security to get in really buck and there were
5:51thousands of people coming in uh and i remember saying to laura my my wife
5:58we walked in like this is just totally chaotic it's not very well organized we
6:03didn't know which direction to go there were multiple lines eventually we get in uh
6:08don't get wanded at all don't get patted down i didn't see any major elements
6:13of security that were even there we go to the fox news party um because
6:19we were there as guests of fox news and um and in there there did
6:24there was no security to get into the fox news party buck really uh there
6:27were people with uh with lists to make sure you were on the list to
6:31get in so i am so thankful that this guy did not decide to come
6:38down before the ballroom uh was seated when you went into the ballroom they had
6:44metal detectors in order for you to get into the metal into the ballroom you
6:48had to go through a metal detector uh but buck every football game that i
6:54have been to college and pro has more security to get into the stadium than
7:00they had for the white house correspondence dinner surrounding environment every basketball game every baseball
7:06game we have gotten so lucky well i mean i'll just say it that the
7:10butler west palm beach and now washington dc attempted assassins were not actually trained assassins
7:18because if they had in that ballroom if they had in that hotel if they
7:24had had eight or ten guys with guns and they had come down there uh
7:28before the thing even started they could have killed dozens or hundreds of people uh
7:33they've got to do a better job of this um and i should say when
7:37we're laying on the ground there when i'm on top of my wife uh and
7:41uh we're laying on the ground uh i i was saying like it's just another
7:47left -wing lunatic trying to kill trump you know i even before i knew all
7:52the details and even before it all came out we knew right all of you
7:57know this is not the thing that is frustrating buck is this is not the
8:01end they're gonna try to kill him a fourth time they're gonna try to kill
8:04him a fifth time it's so imminently predictable where we are the left wants him
8:10dead a lot of democrats want him dead and they're gonna keep encouraging people to
8:14do it and so as i was laying there on the ground i'm thinking this
8:18is just i mean it's so predictable and i wasn't even that rattled by it
8:22i just kind of expect now that if you're at an event that the president's
8:26at there's a high chance that somebody's gonna kill him buck when we walked outside
8:30people protesting left wingers had signs i posted a picture of it that basically said
8:36kill them all i mean this is right after an assassination attempt there are guys
8:40leftists democrats holding signs saying kill them all outside of the uh hotel and there
8:49are a lot of people you've seen it already happen as we know knew it
8:52would that are very disappointed that this assassination attempt didn't succeed so i think we
8:57have to have different protocols in place than we've ever had before for president trump
9:01and even still there's going to be another a fourth i think there'll be a
9:05fifth there are more assassination attempts coming i wish there weren't going to be but
9:09it's inevitable to me this is very important because you have to recognize we are
9:15in a different environment different threat environment now than we've ever been in before in
9:19this country when it comes to political violence we can't keep track of how many
9:23times people have tried to kill this president that's right this is this is now
9:27you have to go wait hold on which one was that was that the one
9:30where he actually got shot remember this president was already shot and and we were
9:34an inch away from a cataclysm in this country uh the likes of which nobody
9:41would ever be able to um recover from and and think that you know life
9:47is going to go on normally i mean it would just be an absolute abyss
9:50that we would have leapt into been pushed shoved into as a country uh if
9:54god forbid president trump had been fatally hit by that bullet in pennsylvania but then
10:00there was the guy at the uh golf course which you have been to west
10:03palm beach which is equally insane and and and the fact that i think you
10:09said it uh and i think it's really important if shots are fired in the
10:13vicinity of the president security has failed right we got lucky that the guy in
10:18butler missed we got lucky that somebody finally saw a glint uh on the barrel
10:23a couple of holes away because that guy would have been impossible to miss the
10:26president at that point in time and frankly we got lucky that this guy in
10:30washington dc didn't manage to come out and do more damage than he did but
10:35it's a failure of security when gunshots occur in the vicinity of the president period
10:40right the president should not have to rely on luck to be physically safe and
10:46top officials all around the president i mean this this whole thing too of everyone
10:51being rushed out of the venue you and being grabbed and everything else the bad
10:55guys see that as a victory in and of itself the fear that is created
10:59the ending of the event the threat that president trump and his top advisors and
11:05his his cabinet officials and their families remember this is people were there with their
11:10wives with their husbands their families under threat even though this guy was unsuccessful thank
11:17god in killing anybody there is the view the vision of once again president trump
11:26being shuffled off stage once again an administration under threat real mortal physical threat and
11:34democrats want this to continue this is the problem i'm sorry it is true democrats
11:40think that an environment where trump and all of his people are in fear for
11:44their safety is absolutely justified and how do we know that we know it because
11:50they say he's a traitor he's a rapist he's a pedophile yeah and we'll get
11:57into more of this you cannot say that about somebody claiming that speaking the truth
12:02is your career is your profession you cannot advance these narratives and then wash your
12:08hands of the violence that comes from them which the entire anti -trump democrat left
12:13-wing media does day in and day out they can't wash their hands of this
12:17they try in the moment but now you're actually starting to see and there's this
12:22vile little turd who keeps appearing all over the place now the new york times
12:26just did a sit down with him who unfortunately has gathered the biggest malcontents and
12:32losers from all over the internet to create quite a fan base for himself who
12:37goes out there saying you know you want to go go kill people drown in
12:42the capitalist blood he said things i could not even repeat to you uh without
12:46getting a violation on this program about what should happen to politicians he called for
12:50uh violence against senator rick scott i mean the guy honestly is crossing lines that
12:55i think go into the legal realm not just the you have no ethics you're
12:59a scumbag and anybody who likes you should get their head examined realm he's already
13:02there um i don't want to name him because i don't want to give him
13:05the credit but you guys know i'm talking about maybe we'll get to a clip
13:08of his later but this is the problem we're in an internet culture now clay
13:12we're being the most disgusting the most depraved the most violent the most sadistic is
13:17rewarded by clicks is rewarded by notoriety and people aren't held to account for any
13:24of this because as long as there are enough people clicking subscribing liking they get
13:28rich their influence grows it's time to call some of this stuff out and to
13:33take action against it um because the results of this are clay what you just
13:38saw on saturday night we are in a political environment where a large portion of
13:42the democrat party believes that it is justified to be violent against trump and his
13:47people and his supporters they won't do it themselves necessarily but i've seen this in
13:52countries that are wracked with jihadism yeah maybe they won't be a suicide bomber not
13:56everybody who supports hamas themselves would strap a suicide vest on some of them honestly
14:00just don't have the uh you know they don't have the stones to take up
14:04any kind of arms against anyone but they like when other people do it do
14:09we really think clay we're an environment where a lot of leftists a lot of
14:12democrats a lot of people remember what happened after charlie kirk was assassination i went
14:16on blue sky i saw what these scumbags say thousands and thousands and thousands of
14:21them they like this now they don't condemn this they'll exalt they would have exalted
14:25if trump was killed last night um and and this is a very profound difference
14:29i mean look kamala we thought was a moron and no one wants you to
14:34kill kamala or kill joe biden or and if by the way if you ever
14:38engage in violent acts against someone you disagree with politically you're wrong right we've said
14:44that for a long time but that doesn't really exist on the right buck um
14:47it's really become a left -wing democrat i mean talking point whether it's celebrating charlie
14:53kirk's death whether everybody forgets about the united healthcare ceo got executed in cold blood
14:58and they turn the guy who killed him into a pin -up model um if
15:02uh if this i would imagine there will soon be a cult of people who
15:08are fans of this guy this 31 year old would -be assassin that's where we're
15:13headed oh look the price of gold opened today at four thousand seven hundred and
15:18thirty four dollars an ounce when gold became available on the open market 55 years
15:21ago in 1971 it was a mere 35 dollars an ounce that's a 12 000
15:27percent gain of the last half century by comparison the u .s dollar has lost
15:3285 percent of its value in the same 55 year period the contrast tells you
15:37a lot about why gold increases in value over time whether it's 55 years 25
15:42years or even this past year the value of gold has grown while the value
15:45of the dollar has decreased that's why many central banks are buying gold at record

16:27Clay and Buck owning the airwaves.
16:30Welcome back in. We'll play Travis Buck Sexton's show.
16:32We will take your calls, 800 -282 -2882.
16:35Let me hit you with a couple of other news stories that are out there
16:38as we continue to react, obviously, to the third assassination attempt of President Trump where
16:43he was present. A 60 -minute interview from Trump.
16:46We'll play some of the cuts from that.
16:47We'll also get into the shooter details, why this is significant.
16:51He's just a normal Democrat on social media.
16:54I'm just telling you guys, you go look at everything that he was posting.
16:58He is a perfect example of Buck Sexton's latest best -selling book, Manufactured Delusion.
17:04He's from a two -parent household, has three brothers and sisters, Caltech grad, 31 years
17:11old, just got his master's degree.
17:13You can read his manifesto yourself.
17:16We'll talk about that. Florida redistricting, Buck.
17:19This is going to slide under the radar a lot, but Ron DeSantis has proposed
17:23a new map that would get four additional Republican seats in Florida and the Virginia
17:30Supreme Court hearing the latest challenge legally that was upheld by a circuit court judge
17:37in Virginia about whether their redistricting vote was legal that would take the map from
17:43six to five in favor of Democrats to ten to one.
17:47All that. We got a ton, as we often do on the Monday edition of
17:50the program. We'll set the table.
17:52There you have it for everything we'll be talking about.
17:54And I got to tell you, we also have to talk about Iran and what's
17:58going to happen there. Is there going to be any sort of movement this week?
18:02We will discuss. But in the meantime, there are still a lot of people that
18:06are struggling all over Israel.
18:09I have seen it for myself, the challenges that exist there.
18:12And the IFCJ has been working, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, to build
18:18a bridge between Christians here in the U .S.
18:21and those of Jewish faith in the Holy Land.
18:24Same organization that's out there building bomb shelters, feeding people who do not have the
18:30ability to take care of themselves, and also getting hospitals so that people can even
18:37be taken care of below ground.
18:39Give $45 right now to rush life -saving essentials to the vulnerable under fire.
18:45888 -488 -IFCJ. That's ifcj .org.
18:53Ifcj .org. All right, welcome back in.
18:55Clay Enbach. Trump is a force of nature.
18:58That's just an observation. That is a fact.
19:01That is objective reality. This guy, I'll never forget when the bullet graces his ear.
19:09And he lifted his hand up and said, fight, fight, fight.
19:12But, you know, Clay was just pointing out to me, because in a lot of
19:14the, in our commercial breaks, we just continue talking about what we're going to keep
19:17talking about on the show.
19:18And we were just discussing how this guy, the President of the United States, under
19:24threat again, okay? And he gets a press conference.
19:29He's in his tux. The guy is just remarkable.
19:33I don't know what else to say.
19:34He's never shook. He never looks like, you know, oh, I don't know.
19:38I don't know. Unlike Brian Stelter, who needs a warm sippy cup with milk.
19:42We'll get to Mr. Stelter.
19:43He's like, oh, my gosh, I was there.
19:46It was almost as scary as January 6th.
19:48Like, we're going to get there in a second, I promise you.
19:51But, Clay, for any normal person, for, you know, an everyday person, this is a
19:59guy who has people who are constantly trying to kill him.
20:02Constantly. But, you know, he's under constant threat.
20:05Has been shot. And he's just on a mission.
20:10He's absolutely unfazed by things that would, and never mind all the criminal prosecutions.
20:17Yes. Clay, he's like an unstoppable force.
20:19It's incredible to see this guy.
20:21It is really remarkable, and I think sometimes doesn't get talked about enough, even by
20:26people like us. The press conference that he did on Saturday night at 10 .30
20:33p .m. or whatever the heck of time it was, in his tuxedo, answering questions
20:39about a third different assassination attempt, was flat -out remarkable.
20:44And I know nobody would try to kill Joe Biden because he was both doing
20:48the bidding of so many people in positions of power, but also so inconsequential in
20:53many ways. But can you remember, can you imagine if somebody had, and Biden had
20:59been up in the White House taking questions in a tuxedo at 10 .30?
21:03There's a 0 % chance that Joe Biden would have been capable of engaging in
21:09any sort of responsive act like Trump did at 80 years old.
21:14Yeah. Which is remarkable. I also want to point this out, Clay.
21:18Let's just say that, you know, God forbid, but somebody was able to even get
21:24one more shot at Trump.
21:26Let's say it missed. I mean, just because this is a very, you know, psychologically
21:30dark place to go. So, but I bring it up only because that would show
21:36us that we now live in a political environment where it is, where we are
21:41incapable of defending and protecting the president of the United States.
21:46That's where we are. We, we...
21:47We've had multiple near misses.
21:50We have nothing but focus should be on the president, keeping him safe, secret service.
21:57We should be at the absolute lead.
21:58I sit here, I'm like, we know all these tier one guys who did 15
22:04tours and GWAT and everything else.
22:06Can we bring some of them in to, if not be standing guard with the
22:10president, to work with some of these secret service guys so that they're real meat
22:16eaters? Because some of the stuff you're seeing, I'm sorry, it's not up to par.
22:22It would be a stain on this republic if we have a, they've already tried,
22:29they already shot Trump once, Clay.
22:31If we can't keep him safe for the next three years, it means we can't
22:34keep a Republican president safe, period.
22:38And I just feel like that's where we need to understand.
22:40There's a zero -fail policy that must be in place now.
22:44I don't know that we've heard officially, team in New York, let me know.
22:48I haven't even heard anybody ask.
22:50It appears that several of those agents fired many shots potentially at this guy and
22:57all missed. This guy who ran by?
23:00How is this guy still alive?
23:02This guy ran through security with a shotgun and he didn't get lit up?
23:06That's my question. I don't know what to say, man.
23:08It just seems... And again, we don't have full video of it, but first of
23:12all, Laura Travis, not happy with the guy who's standing guard there.
23:18The guy's coming at a full run and goes right by him.
23:22Right? I know everybody's saying, oh, the response was great.
23:25Go watch that video that has been released.
23:28Like, why? First of all, they say that he came down.
23:31First of all, the fact that he was able to check in with guns is
23:34unbelievable and a pretty clear security flaw.
23:37He mocked the security in his manifesto.
23:40Buck, they say he came down 10 flights of stairs.
23:43He then just sprinted right past a guy standing there.
23:47He doesn't see him. Then he draws his gun and appears to fire.
23:52And again, I think I heard gunshots, and so do a lot of other people.
23:57We know he fired at least once and hit a guy in a vest.
24:01How did they not hit him?
24:02Clay, how is this possible?
24:04It's a huge security. Look, I know that, thank God, no one got killed here.
24:09Although, interestingly, the shooter didn't even get killed.
24:11No one even got to.
24:12Because the guy was wearing a vest, thankfully, no one was even shot in terms
24:16of actually being struck in the body.
24:18Was that also the shooter, or was that friendly fire?
24:21Well, that's a... This is what we need to...
24:23I think they're holding back on that while the investigation happens.
24:26Let me tell you something.
24:27To me, this guy's firing a 12 -gauge shotgun.
24:30That's what he had. I think he had a Mossberg.
24:35If you take that, now, it depends what he has in there.
24:37I would guess he might have buckshot.
24:39Maybe he has a slug.
24:40He said he had buckshot in there, I believe, in the manifesto, in his manifesto,
24:46the shooter. So, even with a vest on, it all depends, but the spread of
24:51that buckshot, all I'm getting to here is, was a Secret Service agent shot by
24:56a Secret Service agent trying to shoot the bad guy?
24:58Is that what happened? Because I've seen people speculating.
25:01I feel like they could put this to bed right away, because that would also
25:04just go to what a security failure this is.
25:05Look, if some guy... I want to build on this.
25:09They also didn't hit the guy at West Palm Beach.
25:11He got in a car and drove away.
25:14So, these are now... Now, thankfully, they hit the guy in Butler, but two of
25:18the three would -be assassins at Trump didn't get struck by people who were firing
25:23at them. You're the expert on marksmanship.
25:26That seems like a really bad situation.
25:28We don't know how many bullets were fired at this guy, but, again, this goes
25:32to my point on if there were more than one, like, this is not good.
25:37Yeah, this is indicative of, once again, systemic failure.
25:41Look, does anyone think the Secret Service has really been fixed?
25:44Think about this for a second.
25:45Think of all the failures that have happened here.
25:47And I would say this, though, Clay, as well, as we're looking at, you know,
25:52there's... If some lunatic rushes a Secret Service agent outside the White House, you know,
26:00with a knife or shoots somebody with a gun and he gets taken out, that's
26:03a terrible situation, but that's not a security failure because it's at the secure perimeter.
26:08You can't, you know, if somebody's going to attack secure perimeter, we can't live in
26:14an all -out police state, okay?
26:16So that's... This was getting through the secure perimeter with weapons.
26:19Yes. So this is a different thing.
26:21Multiple weapons in the building.
26:24Right. This is getting into where the event is with weapons.
26:29I'm going to say this.
26:30It's remarkable that this guy, the shooter...
26:32I know we don't usually name shooters, but he didn't actually even shoot anybody, or
26:35maybe he shot one guy and didn't kill him.
26:37Yeah. This guy, though, who's a teacher, right?
26:40Yes. He's just also... His manifesto...
26:43I'm just going to say this.
26:44We'll get into some of the specifics on this.
26:45Clay, his manifesto's boring. You know why?
26:48He's like an average MSNBC watcher.
26:50Yes. Believes all the same things.
26:52Just, you know, was that a...
26:53No, here's Nora O'Donnell just telling Trump in the CBS 60 Minutes interview he did
26:58after this. Yeah. This guy was at a No Kings protest.
27:02Play 20. He had attended a No Kings protest in California.
27:06No Kings. What did security tell you about what may have been his motives?
27:10The reason you have people like that is you have people doing No Kings.
27:13I'm not a king. What I am...
27:15as a king i wouldn't be dealing with you i'm just gonna say this he's
27:19i've said that on the show by the way the whole notion of like no
27:21kings is the dumbest it's the it's the stupidest branding ever but they're so pathetic
27:25now um but this guy had pretty standard democrat views he just acted on the
27:31view that so many democrats have which we'll get into this part of it here
27:35in a second but yeah he left twitter for blue sky which is what the
27:39most left wing of democrats did because he was frustrated about elon who of course
27:44he called the nazi to your point though buck he's not a trained assassin he's
27:49just a california teacher who had gone to the range imagine i ask this question
27:55guys imagine if 10 guys like him except actually assassins really trained people had all
28:03checked into the capital hilton and decided that they wanted to engage in a real
28:07terror attack buck here's another question what if they got bombs into the capital hilton
28:12and blew the whole thing up while most of the government is downstairs in a
28:18ballroom this is i mean again i hate to be cataclysmic in my thought process
28:24but we are so fortunate that the people who are trying to kill the president
28:29are morons who have no ability whatsoever uh no tactical for no real tactical training
28:35or anything else no this is this is true fortunately these terrorists are generally i
28:40mean look if you're going to a no kings protest you probably have uh you
28:44know you're emotionally unstable if you're a man you have low testosterone and and you've
28:49never been in a fistfight before thankfully those are the people who are trying to
28:55whether it's with ice officers or now uh at this event the people who are
28:59engaged in the political violence are a bunch of uh you know trying to think
29:05of a word i'm allowed to say on the uh on the air here but
29:07they're generally not formidable they aren't special ops badasses they tend to be pretty wimpy
29:14dudes yeah well the special ops badasses 99 of them love president trump so there's
29:19also that there's there's a thing about this i mean we're at a war with
29:22iran uh as soon as this happened my thought is my god if iran actually
29:27had a sleeper cell here all they would have had to do is book hotel
29:31rooms in the in the hotel walk in with their guns and then come down
29:36and they could have mowed down buck there was no security by and large in
29:42all of these parties which most of the cabinet officials were going to they could
29:46have taken out any number of high -end cabinet officials without even having to go
29:51into the ballroom if they had just done this and so i yeah we we
29:55are very fortunate that this this maniac who was clearly willing to trade his freedom
30:00really he was willing to trade his life and it's remarkable he's still alive he
30:04was willing to trade his life to kill our president and and or his top
30:09cabinet officials and anyone as he said in the manifesto such an idiot what anyone
30:15in the manifesto he said who was in that room watching trump because they were
30:20all complicit too and again what we started this with how many shots were fired
30:25and to your point did one secret service agent shoot another secret service agent how
30:32did nobody hit this guy he's unscathed did somebody tackle him if he if he
30:37had if he had buck shot in that shotgun he wasn't shooting it from from
30:40four feet away i would assume i think i think it's very unlikely that somebody
30:44would have all of that on that would just hit the vest right now it
30:49depends on the spray pattern in the distance but my i'm i think that it
30:52might have been a secret service guy who shot him by accident we haven't yet
30:56heard buck again i know i i'm very confident that i heard at least pop
31:00pop pop you know like that's when i got nervous and then obviously the guns
31:03are all out and everything else in the ballroom no one has talked about the
31:07and when you watch that video remember it stops before he's tackled you can see
31:12the drawing and the guys appear to be taking aim but none of them none
31:16of them hit him if they fire and i'm sure they fire i just want
31:21to be clear though that amidst all the chaos and the mayhem a hero emerged
31:27one man who's willing to shed the tears for all when it comes to how
31:34sad he was how upset he was at the threat to him and those around
31:39him in the press because the press of course brian stelter thinks are the real
31:44heroes this is little brad stelter here is he was at the white house correspondents
31:48association dinner yes that's right he was super brave play cut one today i've been
31:54having some memories come back from last night but i've also been thinking about shreveport
31:58about the mass murder a week ago i was thinking about the the mall shooting
32:02in louisiana where that teen girl died a few days ago uh the scourge of
32:06gun violence is all too common in america and i've been thinking about how people
32:09process it my sources my contacts my friends who are in the room with me
32:13they're processing the traumatic stress processing the traumatic stress no i you guys were like
32:22nowhere near anything actually bad happening and no one got shot except for a secret
32:26service agent who might have been shot by another secret service agent but brian stelter
32:30he's the real hero journalists praise themselves more than any profession on the planet um
32:37it really is kind of ridiculous ridiculous uh but yes um i hope brian stelter
32:42has another Nice, long cry, which is maybe the peak of his journalistic wimpiness.

33:54Clay Travis and Buck Sexton on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcasts.
34:00Welcome back in. Clay Travis, Buck Sexton Show.
34:03Hello, and let's see. This is a question that we just talked to.
34:10We got a bunch of talkbacks.
34:11Keith in Melbourne, Florida asks, how was the gunman not killed or at least shot?
34:17I mean, this is something that I think is going to become a bigger part
34:20of the story. Caroline Levitt pressed briefing schedule that won in about eight minutes from
34:25now. We'll see if we get any more info from that.
34:28But cut B here. Hey, guys, I got one question.
34:31I'm not sure how this gunman runs past Secret Service with a gun, a handgun,
34:38and knives. He goes around the corner.
34:41He shoots point -blank range of police officer.
34:45Luckily, he has on a bulletproof vest.
34:48And yet, he's not taken down.
34:50He's not killed. How do you not kill that guy?
34:55It's a very good question for which we don't have any ready answer.
34:59I would just say, Clay, remember when we went to the RNC?
35:02It was hot as hell, too.
35:04Yeah. RNC in Wisconsin. And you and I, I mean, I'm not going to say
35:08we were treated like we looked like Al -Qaeda.
35:11But getting into the RNC bubble area, there definitely might have been some rubber gloves
35:16and pat -downs happening. And that was in a far lower risk.
35:21God, Trump wasn't even there at the time.
35:23It was a far lower risk situation than what this was.
35:26So the security situation to me just seems inexplicable.
35:30I'll also ask you this.
35:32Why is the video cut off before we see how he ends up apprehended?
35:38The video that was released is the suspect, you can see him clearly, running past
35:43the security guards. And then you can see the guys drawing their guns.
35:48Wouldn't they also have footage of the tackle?
35:52Or I think they don't want to show because there are a bunch of guys
35:56firing guns and they all missed.
35:58And I think your analysis that the guy might have been shot by a Secret
36:03Service agent, based on the...
36:06I know they have not said it yet, but that sounds like it might be
36:09true. Like, how many shots were fired?
36:12Well, I want to know, when did this guy...
36:14I've seen the video. He's running.
36:17He doesn't look like he stops to engage shooting anybody.
36:21And other people obviously could have been shooting at him as he was running, which
36:24would make sense. When would he have gotten the shot off to hit the Secret
36:28Service? Unless there's part of...
36:29Maybe the video doesn't show the whole exchange.
36:31But my understanding is he ran past them and was tackled.
36:34Yeah. How do you get hands on this guy, but not bullets on this guy?
36:39I don't know. These are real questions.
36:41Maybe we're going to start to get some of these.
36:43But that was my thought, too.
36:44He's an armed guy and he just ran and tackled him.
36:46It's easier to tackle him than shoot him?
36:48Crazy.
