0:10show. We have a lot to discuss.

0:13Some big things right off the top.

0:15Let's dive in, shall we?

0:17We have an indictment drop against the Southern Poverty Law Center announced by the director

0:25of the FBI. It seems that the SPLC, which has been an absurd leftist propaganda

0:33work for a long time, it seems that they allegedly were creating racism.

0:40They were paying people to be racist so then they could raise money and say,

0:45we're going to stop all these racists.

0:47So the Southern Poverty Law Center, both arsonist and firefighter, all in one DEI, you

0:56know, anti -racism package. Yeah.

0:59That is what is going on.

1:00Yes, sir, Clay. Well, I mean, it just kind of comes back to, I think

1:06the big story here is, look, racism is wrong.

1:09Um, and as a result, the vast majority of racism in this country no longer

1:14exists. And if you keep having to have fake race hoax, hoaxes, and you keep

1:21having to pay people to pretend to be racist so you can raise money while

1:26claiming to fight against racism.

1:28Buck, this is one of the things we've talked about for a long time.

1:30If you found an organization predicated on its entire existence being that racism exists and

1:37must be combated, what are the odds that that organization is ever going to say,

1:41hey, you know what? The job's finished and we can go do other things now.

1:46It doesn't exist, right? And so they have to create a reason for their existence,

1:51even if it is largely unsupported by the existing environment.

1:55You saw this with the transformation of the entire pro -gay and lesbian NGO industrial

2:04complex to trans issues. So all of a sudden we went from gay and lesbian

2:11agenda and all these different nonprofits saying, you know what?

2:17Actually, a 12 -year -old who says he's a girl who's actually a boy is

2:19actually a girl. That's a different thing.

2:22But they had to do something after Obergefell, and so that was what they transitioned

2:27to. So, yes, it is in fact the case that a very well -funded, very

2:30large hammer will decide that everything is a nail.

2:34And in the case of the Southern Poverty Law Center, it will make the nails

2:37and then say, you need a hammer.

2:39So we will discuss and say, what's with all these nails?

2:43Hold on a second. You're the ones that are making them.

2:45We will talk more about that.

2:47We've also got the Iran situation.

2:51President Trump, yeah, this is in fact what I told you guys would happen, and

2:58I'm trying to find the exact, here we go, the truth social posting.

3:03I mean, bottom line here, Clay, is Trump has said, you know what?

3:07We're making great progress with the deal.

3:10We have a lot of pressure on them, so we're going to extend this ceasefire

3:15situation. Here it is. Based on the fact the government of Iran is seriously fractured,

3:21not unexpectedly so, etc., etc., I have directed our military to continue the blockade, etc.,

3:27etc., and I will therefore extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is

3:33submitted and discussions are concluded.

3:36Two weeks for a ceasefire for a deal, ending with extension of a ceasefire and

3:42no deal and no actual limit on when the deal has to happen.

3:47So, yes, this is exactly what I told you would happen.

3:50It did happen. Now we are there.

3:52We can get into that some more.

3:53Clay, I want to return to Iran, actually, though.

3:55It was a little fun.

3:56I told you so. Not to you, but just in general.

3:59It's always fun to do when I told you so.

4:01And I'm going to need to bank up as many of those as possible when

4:03Kamala announces her presidential campaign, and I'm going to be sitting here like, I can't

4:07believe this happened. But the other thing is, you're really getting a sense about the

4:14Democrats with what happened here in Virginia.

4:17They, by a very narrow margin, passed this new gerrymandered map.

4:22Now you have, what is it?

4:24Is it 10 to 1 or 9 to 1?

4:2610 to 1. 10 to 1.

4:2710 to 1 Democrat to Republican congressional districts in Virginia.

4:33It is truly absurd. It is absolute maximalist approach to wielding their power.

4:40And yet Tim Kaine, senator of Virginia, here he is, Clay, saying, this is about

4:45standing up to tyranny. Play seven.

4:47We also have a state motto that says, six semper tyrannis.

4:51We will stand up to tyranny.

4:53When Donald Trump weaponized redistricting first in North Carolina in 2023, and the three seats

5:00that he stole were the margin of victory for the reconciliation bill that kicked 80

5:06,000 Virginians off the SNAP food benefit program and cut hundreds of millions of dollars

5:13of Medicaid funding to Virginia, Virginians said, look, we got to stand up to tyrants.

5:19And that's what Virginians did tonight.

5:21We lived up to our state motto.

5:24And we stood up to tyranny.

5:27Delusional, Clay, utterly delusional, disenfranchising effectively half of the voters of Virginia who now won't

5:34be able to make a choice in their congressional election.

5:37It's going to be a Democrat.

5:39Even worse than than that, Buck, it is northern Virginia effectively saying we own the

5:46state of Virginia. If you look at the way that they have designed all of

5:50those districts, five of them directly come out of northern Virginia and then spiral into

5:56different directions. They have effectively disenfranchised the whole state.

6:01And look, here's what I would say about this result, because, again, 51 to 49

6:06victory. Kamala won by about five and a half points, as we talked about on

6:10this program in the state.

6:12And now Democrats are going to control over 90 percent of the seats in the

6:18state. Republicans have to get tougher.

6:21I'm sorry. This whole like, well, what if we violate norms world that exists in

6:29the Republican Party? As soon as Democrats get power, do you know what they do

6:34to norms? They kick them in the teeth and they put their boot on their

6:38throat and they say we got new norms now.

6:40And so I just look around, Buck, and I just say there's a lot of

6:44I got to be careful what words I use pussy willows in the Republican Party.

6:49And I'm point to Indiana, which we talked about back in the day, Indiana, Trump

6:54won by 20 points, Buck.

6:55And the people in Indiana said, well, we can't really redistrict now because we're worried

7:00about violating norms. And then Virginia said to hell with your norms in a state

7:06that Kamala only won by a little over five points.

7:09They took 90 percent of all of the seats.

7:13This is a form of gerrymander that basically doesn't exist anywhere else in the country.

7:18And to me, it's just a sign.

7:20And I think you just need to prepare yourselves for it.

7:22But all of the Republicans wringing their hands over protecting the filibuster, the minute that

7:28Democrats have the House, the Senate and the presidency again, they will eliminate the filibuster

7:33once and for all. And they will put in place all sorts of far left

7:37wing policies. They're just going to do it.

7:39And Republicans are going to sit back and they're not and there's not anybody out

7:42there who's going to say, oh, I'm an impartial umpire.

7:46You're the good guys here.

7:47You know what they're going to say?

7:49Exactly what Tim Kaine said.

7:50This is a response to Republican extremism.

7:53And they're going to go all the way to the absolute most extreme outcome.

7:58And Republicans are just going to left walking into the country club saying, boy, can

8:03you believe can you believe what just happened here?

8:05This is really kind of crazy.

8:07And people like you and me who have said, hey, this is what's going to

8:10happen at some point. If you know you're going to get punched in the mouth,

8:15you can't be surprised when somebody punches you in the mouth.

8:18I just I don't get this.

8:20And so they punched us in the mouth.

8:22Virginia, 51 to 49. They took it over.

8:25Well, they it's it's in a sense.

8:28It's even worse than that, because they punch us in the mouth and they're sanctimonious

8:32while they're do it like they say, like, we had no choice.

8:36But to stand up to your tyranny by doing the most absurd, aggressive redistricting of

8:42any state in the entire country.

8:44Yes. They are the victimizers playing victim.

8:48Always the case with Democrats, I might add.

8:50This is a very common tactic.

8:52They're the ones that they'll complain, for example, about the way that confirmations work.

8:59Well, they're the ones that broke down the old agreement.

9:01Initially, it was Harry Reid that said, you know what, we're just going to force

9:04votes on certain judges and they they do it first.

9:08And they hope you forget that they're the ones that started it.

9:10And then they act like they're the heroes when they accelerate even beyond what they've

9:14done in the first place.

9:15So, yeah, I'm I'm looking at Virginia and I just see it, Clay, as a

9:18harbinger of things to come, starting with the midterms.

9:21And then thereafter, you have my friends, we have been sitting and thinking about what

9:29is going to what's happening in the country.

9:31What kind of accomplishments can Trump has?

9:34What can I do to set things right?

9:35That whole time, the last call it 15 months, Democrats have been seething with rage

9:45at Trump, at the change in culture, at the federal government, all these things, whether

9:51it's Doge or it's the border or it's all these clay.

9:55Anyway, the explosion of left wing lunacy that is going to be unleashed, I don't

10:03know what to say other than just be prepared for it, everybody.

10:06We're not going to be completely incapable of handling it.

10:10But I do think it's going to be a shock, especially when you have a

10:12lot of people on the right that have decided, you know, there's some of the

10:18things that are really important that we need to all be talking about are fighting

10:21with other people on the right.

10:22Right. Chasing conspiracies down to the darkest corners of the Internet.

10:27No, actually, the commie maniacs are going to try to ruin your day to day

10:31life as soon as they can.

10:32Just just remember, I told you this.

10:34We will be back in that reality soon.

10:36I think this is also a time where a lot of people look around and

10:40say. Fortify your communities and fortify your state.

10:45I'm glad I live in the state of Tennessee.

10:47I'm never leaving. And you're in Florida now.

10:51And I think. There are a lot of people, the divergence between what life is

10:56like in crazy left -wing blue states and red states, I think is going to

11:02continue to grow. And here's what I think is going to happen too, Buck.

11:06The more resources you have, the more ability you have to move, the more people

11:11are going to move. And look, I would say natural reaction to this is Florida

11:15has to put in place, in my opinion, a map that is somewhat equivalent to

11:21what Virginia just did. State of Florida is one of the last that can act.

11:25I would also point out this, and I think this is such a big point

11:28of discussion that needs more attention.

11:31Democrats have been rigging the House for a long time, and a lot of people

11:35still don't realize this. I know a lot of you do, but most people in

11:38the nation don't. They're counting illegal immigrants to steal around 10 House seats.

11:43So they can't theoretically vote, but illegal immigrants are, for purposes of the census, counted

11:52inside of our country. So Democrats are stealing around 10 seats by saying we represent

12:00illegal immigrants even though they can't vote.

12:03That's a huge deal. And I hope and wish that the Supreme Court decision on

12:09racial gerrymandering would come down because maybe it would impact what Virginia has just done

12:15here. And in the meantime, look, I mean, it was an accurate, roughly, reflection in

12:23a purple state of the fact that it's a divided state.

12:26Six Republicans, sorry, six Democrats, five Republicans.

12:29And then they took it to 10 to 1.

12:31Now, we'll see whether the courts are going to get involved in looking at this

12:35and all those other aspects.

12:36My inclination is, given how close we are to the midterms, they won't do anything.

12:40And just wait. This may well be the difference in who controls the House.

12:45And as soon as they control the House, they're going to impeach Trump, and they're

12:48going to block his entire agenda for two more years because they play the long

12:52game. And they have, I think, the wrong policies on virtually everything, but they have

12:58a committed cadre of insane people that will take advantage of any opportunity they can

13:05to advance their insane agenda.

14:39getting led over the middle here.

16:16It was a story that broke last night or yesterday in the year.

16:20evening and it's something that a lot of us have been waiting for for a

16:25long time and that is the uh the comeuppance if you will justice being done

16:29uh or in the process of being done as it pertains to a hate group

16:35that is i'm sorry an anti -hate group that is actually full of hate full

16:39of hate for the right anybody who is a republican and had effectively weaponized the

16:47the history of civil rights champions they they had decided to appropriate that i'll borrow

16:55a word and present themselves as the modern day civil rights champions by doing the

17:00dirty work of the left pretty gross when you think about it really ugly but

17:05aclu is the same thing i might add aclu southern poverty law center these are

17:10entities that at one point may have done things that you say oh wow that

17:14actually but that time has long since passed and now they just do the dirty

17:19work of the left and really trying to yes sir yeah i saw you're 100

17:24right on all this oh i indeed i was just uh i was just really

17:28clay was taken aback by how spot on i was uh but i would i

17:32would say this and of course they used to go after rush uh we're just

17:35talking to the team rush's team uh in the break about that they used to

17:38come after rush limbaugh that he's a hate monger and everything else well it turns

17:43out that they're basically media matters posing as atticus finch if you will they are

17:51media matters running around trying to do character assassination and pretend that this is about

17:57fighting racism so much so that they are now accused of manufacturing racism in order

18:07to raise money to fight racism and this isn't from some blogger somewhere or just

18:14uh a talk radio host telling you this here is the acting attorney general of

18:20the department of justice todd blanche this is cut 19 listen to this one in

18:25the middle district of alabama a grand jury returned an 11 count indictment charging the

18:29southern poverty law center with six counts of wire fraud four counts of bank fraud

18:34and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering according to the charges in the

18:39indictment the splc is a non -profit entity that purports to fight white supremacy and

18:46racial hatred by reporting on extremist groups and conducting research to inform law enforcement groups

18:51with the goal of dismantling these groups as the indictment describes the splc was not

18:57dismantling these groups it was instead manufacturing the extremism it purports to oppose by paying

19:03sources to stoke racial hatred clay they were writing checks to people so they would

19:11go online say racist things and then get together with other people and create like

19:18racist marches and and by the way you see these guys we've all been saying

19:23this for a long time you know these guys that show up with their faces

19:25covered in the khaki pants and everyone on the right has been saying fed up

19:31fed up for for years and years and years because it's so obvious and now

19:36we see this and people are starting to put these things together this does not

19:39exist there's not some group of khaki clad uh kkk members who cover their faces

19:45out of fear all the time because i don't want anyone to know who they

19:48are uh this is all it's all fabricated yeah they spent three million dollars to

19:55pay uh a variety of different organizations to be racist so that they could say

20:03look at how racist these people are we've got to raise money to fight racism

20:07so effectively the southern poverty law center was paying for racism to exist so they

20:13could point to racism that existed and argue that they needed to combat it here's

20:19what i would say in general about this first of all this case is being

20:23brought in alabama yes good move i do not like the odds of the southern

20:29poverty law center in a deep red state getting a very favorable jury in this

20:34locale so i i think that is a uh that is a significant deal in

20:40the same way that every time they try to bring an indictment against republicans they

20:45always do it typically in dc which is the most left -wing rigged uh location

20:51in all of america so they know they're going to get a good jury this

20:54is smart uh when it comes to where you brought federal charges um the other

20:59part of this that i think is significant look they're going to defend themselves and

21:03their uh their spokespeople uh for the southern poverty law center many of whom are

21:09involved in politics being uh have been long assets of uh the southern poverty law

21:14center they're going to say well we're just paying undercover agents in other words they're

21:19going to say the racism is there we were just reporting on it to make

21:23the country safer this was not actually paying for racism that's going to be their

21:28defense just prepare for it here's what i would say that is significant here buck

21:32and i know everybody wants to pretend that it didn't happen um because the whole

21:38biden era was a disaster joe biden had a public uh planned speech where he

21:44declared that white supremacy was the greatest what i was it that was like the

21:47only that we had a problem just just threat to our nation that that's not

21:50me making that up and then he said hey the georgia bill on voting rights

21:56is the equivalent of jefferson davis during the days of the confederacy there's a direct

22:01connection here this isn't jim eagle sorry this isn't even jim crow this is jim

22:06eagle which was the ridiculous talking point that they decided was going to make everybody

22:11be like oh my goodness this is even worse this is worse than the 1950s

22:15this is worse than a pre -civil rights era america it's all a lie uh

22:19but the problem you have is when people in positions of power decide as joe

22:25biden did that white supremacy was the biggest threat facing the nation you know this

22:29everybody who uh is serving at the behest of the president then has to go

22:34out and find racism there's almost none right you and i have talked about this

22:38for a long time if white supremacy was a huge issue who's the most famous

22:44white supremacist in america who is advocating for white supremacy and raising millions of dollars

22:50and out there marching around as the face of any there's not even a i

22:54can't even name a guy it's it's every election cycle it's david duke and the

22:58only reason anyone knows his name still after decades and decades is because cbs news

23:05the second they get a republican on be like excuse me do you denounce david

23:08duke it's the ultimate when did you stop beating your wife question right did you

23:11denounce david duke they did this to trump of course we remember that they did

23:14the trump and trump was just like what are you even talking about you just

23:17it's such clown stuff um they also lied of course about what trump said about

23:21charlottesville as we know uh and and the other part of this and i i

23:25would like people to make this a more uh this should be more important i

23:29actually i don't agree that there is no systemic or there has been very limited

23:34systemic racism in this country uh there has clearly been systemic racism in this country

23:38against white and asian people yes for my entire adult life and that is a

23:43fact and that is a supreme court backed legal reality there has been systemic racism

23:49in america in favor of black latino and native american individuals for jobs for college

23:55for admissions all this stuff that has been a policy a government policy not guessing

24:02at what's in someone's heart or whether someone is doing enough to be anti -racist

24:07that was structural systemic racism it is race uh it is racial spoils yeah and

24:17now we're supposed to be dismantling this instead people still want to run around and

24:21say that white supremacy is the biggest problem you know the democrats are trying to

24:23make america as as non -white and hateful of our white past as possible as

24:29part of the party plan yeah and look i i think that's important and i

24:34would just sum it up in this way if you have been born since 1980

24:38in this country right which would now mean you are coming up on 46 years

24:43old this year right i'm 47 i was born in 79 i think a lot

24:47of us from like 1975 and on would also be classified in this group the

24:52only racism you've seen is actually anti -white and anti -asian racism that is systemic

24:59from a government perspective um and so far from being a victim now look if

25:04you were born in the 1930s if you were born in the 1940s if you

25:08were born in the 1950s and you are black you have certainly lived through racism

25:12i'm not arguing against that but the counter to that is there was a clear

25:17calculated decision in the wake of the civil rights era to put in place affirmative

25:21action policies which were designed to uh deal with decades of discrimination and rapidly evolved

25:28into flagrantly racist uh policies them own their own selves and they're all illegal now

25:34um and uh democrats now have decided that that is the foundation of their policy

25:40through identity politics and there is such a desperate desire for racism that democrats are

25:46raising now through the southern poverty law center think about that buck three million dollars

25:51what percentage of the money that the kkk for instance i mean does the kkk

25:56have three million dollars in assets in the united states it would surprise me so

26:01when people say well it's three million dollars they're just paying for informants three million

26:05dollars is actually a huge amount of money relative to the money that is put

26:10into white supremacist organizations right um and so uh i think they caught them dead

26:16to rights uh the southern poverty law center is i believe buck like media matters

26:21uh they are not legitimate organizations um and i think it actually ties in with

26:27what we were talking about with what happened in virginia which is a lot of

26:32you out there still have the belief that it's the 1980s and the 1990s and

26:38if you are just honest and principled the media is going to give you credit

26:43for being honest in principle there's a lot of people out there still think hey

26:47you know what i can convince cnn to be honest when they cover me i

26:52can convince msnbc and the new york times and the washington post they're going to

26:56be honest when they cover me they're honest brokers they're calling balls and strikes they're

27:01not trying to take a side you're living in a fake world and democrats realize

27:07it and take advantage of it and are nakedly partisan to buck's point all while

27:12they claim that they're standing up for democracy i mean it's pretty Pretty amazing when

27:17you think about it to disenfranchise all of these people in Virginia and do it

27:23while you are sanctimoniously lecturing all of us that it is necessary to not have

27:28a six to five advantage in the House seats in Virginia, a five point difference,

27:3451 to 46 basically country, 51 to 49 on this specific amendment, and to sanctimoniously

27:42lecture while you do it that this is for democracy.

27:44I give credit to Will Chamberlain, who's a friend, writer and does a legal analysis.

27:52He said that we should revert back to when Alexandria was actually part of the

28:01District of Columbia, and it was Alexandria that then got split into Alexandria County slash

28:08city and Arlington County, but Clay, originally that was all part of the district, which

28:13is why the district has kind of a strange shape to this day, from like

28:161801 to just before the Civil War, 1850 -ish, something like that, the Northern Virginia

28:24Lib stronghold, which is really, it is culturally and in every way an extension of,

28:33you know, you go to Roslyn, you go across the river, you're like, this is

28:37D .C. still, right? It's very much an extension of the city of Washington, D

28:42.C., but that is the population center of gravity that they use to create.

28:47So it's basically Washington, D .C., the city and its environs gets to tell people

28:52who live in southwest Virginia what they can do in their state.

28:58That is where we are now, and I would also remind everybody that Abigail Spanberger

29:02ran as a moderate mom.

29:07I'm just a moderate mom.

29:09She's a communist front. Look at what's happening in her state.

29:13Take the guns away, the radical redistricting, let the criminals out, help the illegals.

29:19Every Democrat is the same, and they all play the same game when they're in

29:23a tight election, which is pretend not to be a Democrat just until you can

29:28fool. They're just playing fool the idiots, also known as independent swing voters who go

29:34for them. Sorry, it's true.

29:35No, no, no. It is interesting to compare because the criticisms with Trump, by and

29:39large, Trump ran the most transactional presidential campaign I can ever imagine.

29:43He just said, these are the things I'm going to do, and he's gone down

29:47and checked them all off one by one.

29:49There's no hiding of the ball, really, when it comes to what Trump believes.

29:53He's been as outspoken about exactly what he believes as possible.

29:56I will say, man, 51 to 49, if there had been any kind of even

30:03spending of dollars here, this wouldn't have passed.

30:06Like, I know everybody is celebrating on the Democrat side, but the fact that they

30:11only won 51 to 49 on this, despite spending tens of millions of dollars, is

30:17actually indicative that you're already starting to see a little bit of a rebellion among

30:22Virginia voters who have recognized that they've been sold a bill of goods.

30:26And again, ultimately here, I think Florida has to respond, and I think they will,

33:04timing interesting given what just happened in an actual purple state virginia but dana let's

33:09just start here you are a super optimistic person uh you are you've been involved

33:15in politics uh in a significant and high level way and now you are one

33:20of the most successful people on television in the country um and i bet let's

33:24just start here i think a lot of listeners and we have a lot of

33:28them fortunately all over the nation they struggle with staying optimistic on a day -to

33:33-day basis you talk about a lot of stories that are not very positive in

33:37fact oftentimes very negative yet you maintain what i would say is a very sunny

33:43disposition i know you both on television and also privately that's not fake that is

33:48really you how do you do it uh thank you for having me um i

33:53love being on your show i love you and i love it when you're on

33:56my show america's newsroom and one of these days on the five is going to

33:59be a blast with you it'll be a lot of fun i i do sort

34:06of wake up on the sunny side of the street i think in a way

34:09it's a little bit natural i think i drive some people a little crazy because

34:14i'm very much a morning person i wake up ready to go i have 20

34:19ideas i'm going to tell you everything that's on my mind and my husband just

34:23needs a minute you know he's that kind of guy he's it's not that he's

34:26a pessimist it's just a little bit he's very pragmatic i there are times i

34:34will say when after a while like a heavy week of news like on a

34:39saturday i'll say my gosh you know it weighs heavy especially we cover a lot

34:44of horrible crimes yep um i i worry about a lot of things though i

34:49do have a strong faith and when i wrote the book everything will be okay

34:54i truly believe that if you have faith in god and you can figure out

35:02a way to let go of your plan and to trust in his then you

35:07do believe that ultimately yes everything will be okay so i kind of start there

35:13i think it's so so interesting i tend to be a very optimistic person um

35:17and i understand and you certainly understand i say it on the show all the

35:21time negative news often makes headlines good news because it isn't necessarily blaring or creating

35:27a great deal of attention doesn't always do it and one of the things i

35:31like to do on this show we've been doing a lot of this year saying

35:34hey you know the all -time low murder rate being hit in 2025 that's kind

35:40of a big deal uh you know when you constantly are talking about negativity sometimes

35:44the positivity gets snowed under do you feel like that how do you consciously keep

35:50that in mind not only given your your individual life but also given that we're

35:54in media are you conscious to say hey every show let's try to find a

35:59couple of things that are at least a little positive because buck and i definitely

36:02consciously make that choice because you can just marinate in negativity in the news cycle

36:08almost every day yes and even if i go back to my press secretary days

36:13you know every single day when you work at the white house you i would

36:16have a to -do list and i'd have all the things that i wanted to

36:19do that were proactive that day to say isn't this great isn't this wonderful and

36:24i used to get to the office at 6 30 and by about 7 20

36:27my plan was out the window because other things were happening yeah so uh there's

36:32that but if you think about the five at the very end of our show

36:36we have a segment called one more thing it's short usually about two or three

36:40minutes it's amongst i believe that's the highest rated part of the show like we

36:44build through the hour but that part really has a spike up and i think

36:49it's because people want just a quick laugh before they go into the next news

36:54hour with a brett bear so we have funny animal videos you'll see something crazy

36:59or like i loved it when judge janine had stupid criminals and we'd have these

37:04short little things so we added that also to america's newsroom at the end it's

37:08called before we go let us show you something that's a little bit lighter and

37:12many shows do that and i think that it's uh good to have a little

37:15bit of a mix and now people get most of their news online and on

37:21social media and it depends on your algorithm what you're seeing right like i get

37:26news but i also get a heck of a lot of dog content i bet

37:30you get a ton of sports content i don't get any sports content yeah sports

37:35for me is is where i go to escape the serious things in life and

37:39speaking of good news i would have to classify this as good news uh president

37:43trump just sent the message very good news uh i've just been informed the eight

37:48women protesters who were going to be executed tonight and iran will no longer be

37:53killed four will be released immediately and four will be sentenced to one month in

37:57prison i very much appreciate that iran and its leaders respected my request as president

38:03of the united states and terminated the planned execution thank you for your attention to

38:07this matter uh president trump that came out eight minutes ago uh and the trump

38:12team actually just texted me to make sure that we knew on the program so

38:16there you go there's some good news you mentioned it is good news and um

38:19he he he does keep the human condition in mind as he deals with all

38:27the other things that he has to deal with the fact that even if you

38:30go back a month or two ago before this even started they were about to

38:34hang a young man just because he had protested and he said i think it

38:38was a wrestler he said don't do that and they didn't do that unfortunately what

38:43they did do is they killed 30 to 40 000 people is the estimate right

38:46after that so yes maybe this is a little bit of progress and i would

38:50certainly consider that a bit of good news especially for the four who are getting

38:53released how do you contemplate now because you used to be white house press secretary

38:57the world in which you operated at that time i imagine you could call people

39:02that made the so -called news back in the day and you could talk to

39:06them and you could make the argument about why a story should or should not

39:09be covered in a certain way now as you reference social media occurs so rapidly

39:14it's almost impossible to even track back where stories started and so we're all reacting

39:20to them after they're already out into the public as opposed to before um i

39:26think that's a transformative difference in the way the news has evolved how has that

39:30changed what you do and how much more challenging do you think it makes it

39:34instead of this top -down world everything bottoms up and comes from the bottom up

39:39and you can think about it whether it's nick shirley you know the the investigation

39:43that he did in minneapolis um you know that's a perfect example of a story

39:47that originates online and then percolates its way up to impact everything which is i

39:52would imagine very different from the way the media environment worked when you were in

39:57the white house yeah so in the white house when i was there we twitter

40:01and facebook were sort of becoming a thing towards the end of 2008 um and

40:06then it took off so as a press secretary i never really had to deal

40:09with it but i came to fox not long after that and i've been here

40:12for the transition for where what was happening on cable news and other tv was

40:19driving what was happening on social media and around i would say 2013 really i

40:25think about isis when uh those lunatic radicals were executing people in the middle east

40:33it was almost as if the social media at that point all started to drive

40:37the news and you can look at almost anything nick shirley is a is a

40:42great example nobody said that the new york times the wall street journal the washington

40:45post couldn't have gone and done what he was doing but now it has flipped

40:51and that's not necessarily a bad thing at all but do you remember clay when

40:56you hosted fox and friends weekend and there's a you have a rundown and there

41:02will be a soundbite that you could call for like you might say well that's

41:07an interesting point let's listen to president trump because he said something similar yesterday and

41:11then they play the soundbite for you well this morning i had to tell our

41:17producers like i need time stamps not just the date i need the actual time

41:24with which this president trump soundbite or truth social was posted because it's changing so

41:31quickly yeah that if that if he said that at three o 'clock yesterday but

41:35that's been superseded by something that was said at 8 p .m but actually maybe

41:39even now at 9 0 3 a .m so yes it's completely different now during

41:44the biden administration you could go hours days without even needing to check for news

41:50yes no now i can't take a nap i can't take a nap you can't

41:56take a nap you're gonna miss like five news cycles if you take a nap

42:00we're talking to dana perino fox news all right tell me about this book and

42:03by the way this is exactly right dana when we sit down to start this

42:07show buck and i have an idea and buck's on his way to new york

42:10so he wanted me to tell you hi when we sit down to start this

42:14show we have a rough idea of what we're going to talk about one minute

42:17before we start the show the president might send out a message and it completely

42:22alters the entire trajectory of anything that we were going to talk about on the

42:26program even now while i'm talking to you some people watching on video notice i'm

42:30on my phone the whole show going through making sure that there's not some news

42:34story i've got a quad box but to your point uh i've got msnbc cnn

42:38fox news and fox business up right now in studio but the news breaks on

42:43social media five to ten minutes oftentimes before it actually is on television so i

42:48want to make sure everybody's informed now you have written a new book it's called

42:51purple straight uh purple state it is a romantic comedy uh we sell a lot

42:55of books on this program a couple of things for you here uh how did

42:59you find the time because you're on television uh a lot of hours every day

43:04how did you find the time to write this story what motivated you to write

43:08it and what would you hope that people will take from it if they are

43:11out there in the marketplace as we come into summer and want a romantic comedy

43:16beach style read which i imagine this is designed for that time frame thank you

43:21so much for letting me talk about it on your show um you know i

43:24as i say clay real men read rom -coms but um if you're not reading

43:28them you're watching them with your wife and you're secretly enjoying them um i think

43:32that it's also a little more than a romantic comedy it's um kind of a

43:38a current literary fiction. How did I find the time?

43:42I actually had to make the time.

43:43I had to be very disciplined.

43:45And I only wrote between 11 and 4, 11 a .m.

43:49and 4 p .m. on Saturday and Sunday.

43:51Oh, wow. So I would get up early, walk the dog with my husband, do

43:56a little exercise, read the Wall Street Journal, have breakfast, make a big thing of

43:59green tea, and then say, I'll see you in a few hours.

44:02And I went upstairs. My husband was so supportive.

44:04And I would just take notes or thoughts through the week.

44:08And then I would just start to write this story.

44:10I had this idea because I am concerned.

44:13I know you talk about it all the time, too.

44:14I think Americans believe that we're more polarized than we actually are.

44:19I think once you get off your phones and you meet people where they are,

44:23there is more commonality, more neighborliness, more American patriotism that supersedes ideology.

44:30I know that's a little bit naive.

44:33I'm not naive. I know that there is polarization.

44:35But in this story, I take three young women who live in New York, and

44:39they're always going to live in New York.

44:40And they love New York, but they're going through their quarter life crisis, which is

44:4425, 26, 27 years old.

44:46And any of your listeners who are that age or have daughters or granddaughters that

44:51age, they know what I'm talking about.

44:53It's when your plan starts to fall apart.

44:55You're not achieving the goals that you thought you would.

44:58You're not even sure you went into the right profession.

45:00And it just feels stuck.

45:02These girls take an opportunity and they follow Doc Clark, the main one, main character,

45:06to Wisconsin, the ultimate purple state.

45:08They're going to work on the election to try to turn it blue for the

45:11Democrats. And then they find this community of Cedar Falls, Wisconsin is quite lovely and

45:16sweet and fun and easier.

45:19And they meet these three guys who happen to be Republicans.

45:23But the politics takes a backseat and romance ensues.

45:28That is very well said.

45:29So I saw you on the five say that you had a quarter life crisis.

45:33You've obviously had a tremendous amount of success.

45:35I had a quarter life crisis when I was practicing law as a 25 year

45:39old. You know, you do everything right.

45:41And then you sit there and you look around and you say, boy, this job

45:45is not what I thought it was going to be.

45:47I don't know that I want to be in this place.

45:50We get calls all the time, Dana.

45:52And I don't know. I'm just gonna be honest.

45:54I don't know that there's ever been a time when women have said, you know

45:58what, there's too many good men out there, right?

46:01Like, I think in 1860, women were like, hey, men stink in 1960.

46:06You know, I think that women in general have tended to not be that happy

46:10with the men that surround them.

46:12But you told the story that you were not finding a guy that you were

46:15super bothered by it. And that something happened to you.

46:20I saw you talk about it on the five.

46:22We talked about this quite a bit on the program.

46:24What would you say to young single women or the parents or or whatnot of

46:29young single women that are struggling to find a guy?

46:31They want to have a family, but they can't quite make it happen.

46:35You were in that position.

46:37I was I was in Washington, D .C., a terrible place to date.

46:40I mean, am I right, ladies in D .C.?

46:42It's tough. And I think the guys agree.

46:44But in D .C., I hadn't dated anyone in like two years.

46:48My year, my 23rd year, 24.

46:49I'm about to turn 25.

46:51And I was like, what is going on?

46:53I don't know. I don't see any of my goals being met at the time

46:56frame that I had laid out.

46:57And I went to my singles group at my church on a Wednesday night.

47:00And this woman said she's a little older than us.

47:03She took me aside and she said, you know what God says all throughout the

47:07Bible? He says, fear not.

47:10He says, your name is written on the palm of his hand.

47:13So everything will be OK.

47:15You're an educated American woman.

47:17Everything's going to be fine.

47:18Just relax. So I tried and then I ended up having a pretty good summer.

47:23And then I got on this plane in 1997, August 17th, 97.

47:29And I sat next to a guy, British guy, older than me, 100 reasons why

47:33we shouldn't have ever been sitting together or for me to fall in love with

47:37him on that plane. But I did.

47:39And we'll have been together 29 years this year.

47:41The ultimate lesson for me in this book is for young people to read it

47:46or not, maybe not even young people, but for people to read it and to

47:49have that sense that I had, which is choosing to be loved is not a

47:55career limiting decision. It can make all the difference.

50:02Joined now by Indiana Senator Jim Banks.

50:06We were talking about your state, Senator.

50:09Appreciate you coming on. In relationship to the Virginia decision, Purple State, Virginia, going from

50:176 to 5 in favor of Democrats to 10 to 1.

50:21Meanwhile, the state of Indiana, which you represent, now this is in the state legislature,

50:26not your decision, but basically said that they didn't want to violate norms by redistricting

50:33in Indiana. A lot of people connecting what the Democrat Party was willing to do

50:38in a purple state, Virginia, with what the Republican Party was not willing to do

50:42in a deep red state that President Trump won by about 20 points, Indiana.

50:47Do you see the connection there?

50:48If so, what was your reaction as you saw these results come in?

50:52Well, I'm still disappointed about the weakness of the Indiana State Senate.

50:58The Indiana State House did pass redistricting.

51:01The Speaker of the House, Todd Houston, led that through the House.

51:05But in the Senate, you had 21 Republican state senators join the Democrats to literally

51:12thumb their nose at President Trump and really the Republicans all over the country who

51:17are begging Republicans to fight back against radical Democrats and all of the games that

51:23Democrats play. And in this case, you had a group of very weak Republicans.

51:27For some reason, we still have this bastion of anti -Trump Republicanism in the state

51:35of Indiana, and I'm trying to lead the way to fix that.

51:38In fact, we're spending millions of dollars to oust some of these anti -Trump Republican

51:44state senators in the midterm election, which is just two weeks from – less than

51:50two weeks in May. And I think we're going to beat all of these anti

51:56-Trump Republicans, state senators who are running again, and replace them with strong, conservative, pro

52:03-Trump Republicans. I spent a lot of time thinking about the Republican Party and where

52:06do we go from here.

52:07Donald Trump's not going to be on the ballot again.

52:10But how do we keep the Trump voters in our party, voters like my dad,

52:14retired union factory workers, blue -collar voters that used to vote Democrat who are now

52:20Trump Republicans? We've got to keep them in our party, and we still have –

52:24in Indiana, you had a Mitch Daniels -led effort to oppose redistricting.

52:30And this has a lot to do with their distaste and dislike of Donald Trump.

52:35And in this case, I think they really let us down.

52:38They screwed the country and let the Democrats get away with the games that they're

52:42playing. Florida still has the opportunity to act.

52:46I know you're in the Senate, different state than the one you represent.

52:49But in general, I've said I think Florida needs to act.

52:53Do Republicans need to get tougher?

52:56For sure. And Donald Trump has shown us for the last 10 years how to

53:00be tougher, how to fight back.

53:02And I expect that Governor DeSantis and Republicans in Florida will – now Virginia has

53:09motivated them to do their part, to make up for it.

53:13And you go all the way back to the beginning of this.

53:15When I traveled back home to Indiana with Vice President Vance to make this case

53:21to Indiana legislators, you look at what the Democrats did to rig – literally rig

53:26the 2020 census. They used a shady formula and how they counted illegals and how

53:32they reshuffled the census data.

53:35And what the Democrats did – even though the 2020 census happened when Donald Trump

53:41was in office the first time, he left.

53:45Biden took office. They took over the census and that effort, and they used these

53:50shady privacy formulas to count illegals and reshuffle the deck.

53:55And you had – it's now been proven a fact – I mean, the census

53:59has come out and said this is true – that they undercounted in red states.

54:03They overcounted in blue states.

54:06Florida, for example – you're talking about Florida.

54:09Florida, if the census wouldn't have used this shady formula and counted illegals around the

54:13country, Florida would have two more congressional seats today than what they do right now.

54:19And states like – and Texas would have one more than what they have right

54:23now. And states like – blue states like Minnesota, Rhode Island, and Colorado, they would

54:28all have one less congressional district in a blue state.

54:33And you see how – You see how the Democrats rigged the process back then,

54:37this mid -cycle redistricting. There was a real case to make that we were drawing

54:43these maps in a more fair way using the data, the way that it's supposed

54:49to be used from the last census.

54:52Unfortunately, the Indiana State Senate let us down, but I think Florida can do a

54:58lot here to help make up for it.

55:00How optimistic are you about the scene in the Senate?

55:04And I always want to, before I get your take, I always want to try

55:07to make sure that people understand what's going on here.

55:10Georgia, New Hampshire, Michigan, we just talked yesterday to Michelle Tafoya, Minnesota are all Democrat

55:17seats. Guys, if we could take one of those four, the chances of losing the

55:22Senate become zero. And then we've got states that we have to defend, like Maine,

55:27North Carolina, where if we win one of those states, probably the chances go to

55:31zero. Next door to you in Ohio, what do you see?

55:35You're privy to a lot of details.

55:36What should people know from your perspective as we get ready for the midterm battleground

55:42fight? Well, we can't take anything for granted, but the best thing that we have

55:46going for us is the crazy Democrats.

55:48I mean, look at Michigan, just next door to us, up north from Indiana.

55:54Mike Rogers is a strong candidate, ran last cycle and almost pulled it off.

55:59This cycle, the Democrats are going to literally nominate the craziest person they could find

56:04to put on the ballot on their side.

56:06And you see the contrast between a reasonable Republican and an out -of -touch lunatic

56:13Democrat. So you look around the country, you have a guy with a Nazi tattoo

56:19that's likely to win the primary in Maine against Susan Collins.

56:23And Susan Collins and I are very different politically, but there's no way I could

56:28get elected in Maine. There's no way she could get elected in Indiana.

56:31And she's a fighter and wins these elections.

56:35It's the toughest election she's ever been in.

56:38But she's running against a guy who has a Nazi tattoo.

56:42So I have a feeling she's going to end up winning that.

56:46John Husted in Ohio, my freshman colleague.

56:51Ohio is a state that has trended our direction.

56:54It's a tough race against a former senator, but he's working really hard.

56:58And bringing those blue -collar Trump voters home to vote for our side versus the

57:05other side, when Donald Trump's not on the ballot, we struggle.

57:09When he's on the ballot, we do better.

57:11But we've got to bring those Trump voters our side to win these Senate seats

57:16to keep the Senate majority and go out and make the case that that's what

57:19matters. What matters is putting our workers first, our trade deals, everything President Trump is

57:26fighting for and doing is good for those voters and make sure that they vote

57:31for us this time. If we do that, we'll keep the Senate majority.

57:34And I think we can – the House is a toss -up.

57:37It's really hard, especially with this redistricting stuff and the Democrats doing what they did

57:41in Virginia and other states of California.

57:44But we have better candidates.

57:47We have the issues on our side.

57:49And if we bring those Trump voters home on Election Day, we'll keep the majorities.

57:55You invited me to come up to one of your big events coming up.

57:58I'm sorry I'm going to miss it, but obviously I'm a big fan of yours.

58:02And I have to ask you this.

58:04What is it like living in a football state now?

58:08Indiana, everybody used to – you know, Dan Dockich works with me at OutKick, former

58:13player for Bobby Knight. Used to be the ultimate basketball state.

58:17Now you guys are the defending national champions in football.

58:22If I had told you, this is a good question.

58:23You doubted us. Just to be clear, you doubted us.

58:26I did. I'm never going to let you live that down.

58:29But I have a feeling Cignetti and the Hoosiers are going to be just as

58:33tough next season. And we also have the – you know, I'm an IU alum,

58:38and one of the reasons I went there was to go to Bobby Knight, coached

58:43basketball games at Assembly Hall.

58:45I mean, those were the glory days, and we've kind of sucked since then.

58:50But we have the best transfer class in college basketball coming to Bloomington next basketball

58:56season, too. So there's a lot going on in our state, but Cignetti's turned us

59:03into – Indiana University into a football school, and I couldn't be prouder.

59:07If I had told you five years ago, Indiana's going to be a national championship

59:12football team, would you have thought that I was on some sort of illicit substance?

59:17I might have. I mean, when I was a student, we had Antoine Randall -Ell

59:22as our quarterback, and he was a lot of fun.

59:24And we had, you know, five -win, six -win seasons with Antoine, but not exactly

59:36I mean, it's just the magic that Cignetti has brought, the attitude that he's brought.

59:43I mean, we've got the Fighting Irish up north as well.

59:46They're going to be tough this season, and, you know, in college basketball, we've got

59:52the – the Boilermakers are always tough, and it's a lot of fun to be

59:56in the Hoosier state. We've just got to make sure that our Republicans that represent

1:00:01our state – They are fighters, that they're fighting for our values and the cause

1:00:06of this great country. And as the new senator from our state, I'm focused in

1:00:10his primary election in less than two weeks and getting a better majority in the

1:00:17Indiana State Senate and fighters elected across the board to represent Indiana.

1:00:22And President Trump loves Indiana.

1:00:24He talks about Indiana all the time and what Indiana means to him.

1:00:28He wins our state by 20 points every time he's on the ballot because Indiana

1:00:32loves President Trump. But in this redistricting fight, back to that, I mean, I think

1:00:37we let the country down, but we can make up for it and elect better

1:00:41people so we don't do it again.

1:00:47And again, for everybody out there in Indiana, when is the primary date?

1:00:51What would you encourage people to do?

1:00:53Well, it's in two Tuesdays.

1:00:55So what is that? It's the Tuesday after next Tuesday, the first Tuesday.

1:01:01May the 5th. May 5th is Election Day.

1:01:06Remember, Indiana, our polls close at 6 o 'clock Eastern time.

1:01:11That's why when there's a presidential election, we're always the first on the board because

1:01:15our polls close so early.

1:01:16So tune in, and I think you'll see the results of a lot of pro

1:01:21-Trump Republicans beating anti -Trump Republican incumbents.

1:01:26And it's going to tell a big – I think it's going to tell a

1:01:27big story to the country that this is Donald Trump's Republican Party and we're bigger

1:01:32and stronger because of it.

1:01:34And it's going to forecast, I think, where the party goes from here.
