3:40The U .S.-Iran talks in Pakistan scheduled to begin on Saturday.

3:45Artemis 2 going to land off the coast of San Diego.

3:49That is the week -long plus moon navigation that took place starting last week.

3:57And, Buck, we didn't really react to what we talked with our good buddy, Ryan

4:05Gerdusky, who is also a part of the Clay and Buck Podcast Network, told us.

4:10But I do think it's worth here, as we dive into hour three, having a

4:16little bit of discussion about it.

4:17I was jotting down notes because this has been a widely discussed in some circles

4:23story. But, by and large, it's mostly getting ignored.

4:27The United States' fertility rate has fallen, according to the most recent data, to 1

4:33.5 children per woman. And that is relatively easy to explain because, and the math

4:41is not crazy complicated, women need to average 2 .1 children in order to exceed

4:50replacement level. Again, the math on this is not crazy complicated.

4:56And that is not occurring.

4:57And it's not just happening in the United States.

5:00It is collapsing all around the world at many different elite Western civilization countries, whether

5:07it is Japan, which has South Korea, whether it is Italy, and now, obviously, the

5:15United States, wherever, and certainly much of Europe, if you look at France, and if

5:20you look at what's happening in England, all these different countries with great histories.

5:24of civilization that have basic human rights the population uh is collapsing and i don't

5:32know if this is ever going to reverse but if it does not then humanity

5:38starts to decline in population buck really really fast china is a great example of

5:45this where they're saying by the end of this century the chinese population is going

5:50to go from around 1 .4 billion ish i believe where it is right now

5:55to about 650 700 million in other words before the end of this century china

6:00is going to have half the population that it does right now i was reading

6:03a story this morning japan is having a huge issue with just abandoned homes in

6:09japan right now uh huge numbers of homes because the population has collapsed to such

6:14an extent they're just abandoned nobody lives there uh the the government will actually basically

6:20give you title to these homes to be able to live there is this should

6:25we be talking about this more um as a real significant uh issue and and

6:32whether or how we fix it well yes it's a hugely significant issue and there's

6:40a lot of factors that all come together and it's really a pretty new phenomenon

6:44in human and human history to have both so many women entering the workforce delaying

6:50child childbearing these very well -off societies in the west and including uh you know

6:56democracies in the east like japan and south korea where people aren't having enough kids

7:01that's all very real elon who is certainly a guy who sees the future well

7:05recognizes this is i think the biggest challenge that humanity faces the good news is

7:10there is a solution to it and the solution is actually quite fun in fact

7:16in fact and not only fun i mean there's of course that part of it

7:20but it's also very rewarding and being a dad is like my favorite thing ever

7:25as i'm sure it is for you clay three times over being a dad is

7:28the absolute greatest being a mom i'm sure is i can't speak i can't speak

7:32to it you know i can't identify as a as a mom but uh i'm

7:38sure that's the same thing uh you know what i think is going to actually

7:42be increasingly playing a role in this there's already some data you've seen a little

7:46bits of this here and there glp drugs oh this is an interesting very helpful

7:54because once you start taking that sweet sweet sauce from ozempic or terza peptide or

8:01whatever you drop those 30 or 40 pounds you're sleeping better you're feeling better you're

8:06looking better you might as well just throw on a little berry white in the

8:09background can't get enough of your love baby you know it starts really moving and

8:14grooving people are gonna get more frisky as they lose weight on the glps because

8:19this is funny body positivity was a big thing for what 10 years you know

8:25they put people in spandex who shouldn't be in spandex like doing uh you know

8:30all sorts of body movement and they're like hey i feel great about being morbidly

8:35obese and i was like i don't know that doesn't seem like a great thing

8:38body positivity has vanished and as these glp ones are becoming more and more affordable

8:44people are dropping weight at a significant level that's an interesting theory and it's going

8:50to make them in uh in the mind of buck sex well you know they're

8:53more frisky there's actually a chemistry behind it too uh for the guys out there

8:59if your estrogen levels get too high or your estradiol uh then your libido tends

9:05to you know if you have low t and high estrogen it's all about balance

9:10by the way you need estrogen actually as a guy uh but if your estrogen

9:13level gets high relative to your testosterone level it'll affect libido and mood pretty drastically

9:19and so because we also have a t a testosterone crisis in the west yeah

9:24people haven't really figured out yet i think part of it is just uh it's

9:28our it's dietary it's uh the toxic masculinity hate that men have been getting there's

9:34a lot of things that come together there too there's it's not a single factor

9:37analysis you can do but clay biochemically you are more likely to want to get

9:43frisky if you are at a healthier weight is the bottom line male and female

9:54and also i think you're going to help with the baby boom there could be

9:59something of an ozempic baby boom if you will this would be fantastic here's my

10:04concern i think that by the way you respect the barrier barry right barry white

10:10i mean if you're if you're in the baby making mood right barry white's what

10:13you got to throw away very very very very positive uh i would say here's

10:18my concern um and this is it almost is just a math equation just make

10:23it very logical if the average woman and i believe i'm correct in this is

10:28so let's start with point one we would like to have uh children in marriage

10:34right in an ideal world so i tell my kids get married have as many

10:38babies as you can be a good dad but you need to get married right

10:41so you want a dad and mom both present um if we are having incredibly

10:47declining rates of marriage and we are also son simultaneously seeing marriage beginning for women

10:55now i'm focusing on women here because women have babies we understand that biologically here

11:00we're not a left -wing show if women are not getting married until they're in

11:04their 30s and this is now becoming the standard right the average man is over

11:0830 the average woman increasingly is basically 30 years old the math equation on this

11:14buck just gets hard and i i we need to have more women on talking

11:19about this but this is because then inevitably it's just like well you're a guy

11:22you don't it's way harder for women to have babies in their 30s than it

11:27is in their 20s and if we are both simultaneously creating a world where the

11:33highest educated most wealthy among us are not getting married until they're in their 30s

11:39then you just get into a mathematical equation right where it takes longer than you

11:45expect you're 33 when you have your first baby the babies are especially first babies

11:52as you've just learned buck very changing to your lifestyle and then you're like okay

11:57we got to figure out do we have the time now to have baby number

12:00two it takes a time i just think the math on this when you don't

12:04get married until after 30 on average i think there are a lot of people

12:08that would be open to having baby two baby three baby one that don't get

12:13in a position where the math adds up because a lot of women look when

12:18you get into your upper 30s what is it a gerry this is crazy but

12:23it's called a geriatric pregnancy once you hit 35 35 which doesn't feel very old

12:28but yes by the way that is officially medically that is not a point of

12:32contention that is not a derogatory thing that is it is considered medically a geriatric

12:37pregnancy from 35 so do you know because my wife had a geriatric pregnancy so

12:43so this is i know because my assistant katie who has a couple of different

12:47babies she was like i couldn't believe it they called me a geriatric pregnant woman

12:50uh because she was 35 i think when she had her second baby um i

12:55think it's just a math equation and and i think a lot of women out

12:59there and i don't know if it's going to happen are going to have to

13:02decide hey what's the most important thing to me is it having a baby or

13:08is it getting promoted to mid -tier management in a job that frankly isn't that

13:14desirable of a job and i think we have sold this again people are going

13:18to get mad at me over this i think we have sold a lot of

13:21people a bill of goods um that your success in a major multinational corporation defines

13:30you more than your success as a parent and i think you can speak to

13:34this now that you're a dad i can certainly speak to it as a dad

13:37like success in life is great in professional career but it pales in comparison to

13:43being a parent this is like a whole different show we're doing now but i

13:46guess i'll just lean into it uh and a whole different show just in terms

13:49of how much content and discussion there can be about this stuff one thing that

13:52i've seen from my female peers in new york city meaning girls who i grew

13:57up with and are my age uh a lot of them i think feel very

14:00they felt a little lied to by the culture that professional success at some level

14:07would make them desirable mates we've kind of run that experiment and the truth is

14:14the guy working as a gas station attendant and the ceo of the fortune 100

14:20company kind of looking for a lot of the same things it's and and it

14:26doesn't equate with being vp of the marketing firm they don't care is the point

14:33it doesn't actually affect your marketability the same way as it does in the dating

14:38marketplace by the way people can argue with me on this all the data supports

14:42this i was single a lot in new york city i've seen a lot i

14:45understand how these dynamics play out that no matter whether but what i was referring

14:50to by the way there's data that shows that uh whether you're making like fifty

14:54thousand dollars a year or you know five million dollars a year the top three

14:59professions that it's not that they don't want people want educated you know they want

15:03an educated wife they want somebody but in terms of career stuff nurse pediatrician school

15:09teacher black guys white guys uh hispanic go go to the connective tissue there is

15:16all that would be a good mom this is a job that you think a

15:20good mom would yes would have yes and so women who sacrifice this is like

15:25the women that i went to amherst with who went into investment banking which has

15:29just horrendous and really abusive hours in your 20s which you exchange for money it's

15:34not worth it to gain 30 pounds as a woman in your 20s and have

15:38your hair start to fall out fall out from stress and anxiety and trying to

15:41do all this stuff because you know you're going to make like a slightly bigger

15:44bonus than if you took the job where you're actually doing something you want to

15:47do and i think a lot of women have been lied to about that men

15:50will make those by the way jordan peterson's been hitting this for years and years

15:53he's totally right men will make these trade -offs like the guys listening to us

15:58who do the the crazy uh like arctic fishing thing off of alaska and they

16:04make you know 80 grand in the six -week season i'm making up the numbers

16:07but they might get knocked into the ocean and die men make but they might

16:10freeze to death in the oh yeah exactly they're playing with like big harpoons and

16:14hooks and stuff and captain ahab stuff they do that knowing that they come home

16:20home and they're a you know they're a more appealing provider they got more money

16:24in the bank all this sort of stuff the economic incentives in mating are not

16:28the same for men and women is the bottom line and women have been largely

16:31now now there are going to be some guys who call in who watch ms

16:34now and who are beta males who are like i want a provider as well

16:38i'm not saying you don't want a woman who has a job i'm saying that

16:41people who sacrificed life for job who are women oftentimes because remember the timelines are

16:48different they look back at this now and they're like no one told me no

16:51no one told me that mortgaging my 20s and deep into my 30s so that

16:55i could be on a super aggressive career track had real consequences for me that

16:59the men don't have we can have kids in our 60s this is the key

17:04you can be a guy and say i want to work 90 hours a week

17:07in my 20s and 30s and you can make put yourself in a position where

17:10you're making a lot of money and then at 45 you can decide hey you

17:15know what i want to get married and there are tons of from frankly from

17:2025 to you know 35 year old women you saw it all the time my

17:25date my dating options once i hit 35 were more um uh available than than

17:33in my 20s by like a by like an order of magnitude and so it

17:38is a biology is real and i think again when you don't get married until

17:42your 30s the math on this i'm not surprised honestly because i think the fulfillment

17:47um you decide hey i had one you're 36 37 two may or may not

17:51happen and um i do think it's a it's a major issue going forward because

17:59the most educated successful societies are having the least amount of children and that does

18:04not seem good and by the way the wealthiest societies and by the way they're

18:08importing a lot of people from societies where they're not educated and they're having a

18:12lot of kids and there are social costs that come with that too because now

18:16you're creating a massive welfare state and there's there's problems with that so anyway um

18:21see we got into a whole other conversation here i might actually want to talk

23:33you because i didn't i'd pay no attention to it know nothing about it this

23:37is from a comedian peter ravello i just think this is kind of fun we

23:40could have on a friday this he did this on the on the tonight show

23:43on nbc but this is a little bit he did on sports talk radio which

23:47you used to do play 18 i'm going to therapy and um guys run from

23:52blue collar new york guys they don't really do therapy this is what they do

25:56listening she says that geriatric pregnancy she just texted me she was listening to the

26:00show buck um now they're starting to move on from geriatric pregnancy because so many

26:06women were uh i think rocked at the age of 35 by hearing that they

26:10were a geriatric pregnancy they now call it in many places buck this is advanced

26:16maternal age or ama uh to try to make women less stunned i think by

26:23the the concept of a geriatric pregnancy i totally and i i totally disagree with

26:27this i think that they should let like people should know you shouldn't because it's

26:31a biological reality this isn't about feelings this is about with each passing year after

26:3535 your risk of complications goes up your chances of getting pregnant goes down your

26:41chance of bringing the baby full term goes down all of the people women need

26:45to know my female friends that i grew up with like i said in new

26:50york so many of them were just lied to about this stuff lied to by

26:56the culture go be a girl boss you have plenty of time you have plenty

27:01of time the guys are partying you know go go to tulum eat pray love

27:05your way through now i understand this may be a very specific thing to people

27:08in new york la dc boston chicago but i but it's that's a big time

27:15and i All those places.

27:16I think it's very common for highly educated women.

27:19They are told that they can have it all.

27:24And some, to be fair, are able to manage all of it better than others.

27:28But if you don't find the right person, to your point, like you're hanging out

27:32with guys at 25 and 30 and 33 and 34 that can be able to

27:38do the fancy vacations and still have the high -end success.

27:41But those guys might decide at 45, hey, I'm going to get married.

27:45I'm going to settle down.

27:46I'm going to have kids.

27:47And that option is available to them.

27:49And you suddenly look around.

27:51You're 39 years old. You're in middle management.

27:54Maybe you're making a decent salary.

27:56But I don't think it's that fulfilling.

27:58And I think a lot of women have been sold.

28:00And then they look around.

28:01And the 39 -year -old guy doesn't feel the same pressure that the 39 -year

28:06-old woman does. And here's the other reality, Buck.

28:08It's way harder for women to date young, right?

28:12Way harder for a 39 -year -old woman to find.

28:15First of all, men are morons in their 20s oftentimes and aren't that serious.

28:19So it's hard to find.

28:21Like, let's say you're 39 and you want to date a 28 -year -old.

28:24A 39 -year -old guy can date a lot of 28 -year -olds.

28:26Most 28 -year -old guys are not going to seriously date a 39 -year -old

28:31woman to stay with. So the math on this is different.

28:33We want to play this rush cut because you played a funny clip as we

28:38went to break of how male sports talk or ADO is often...

28:43Before we get to the rush cut, though, I mean, have you had guys call

28:45in to, like, Clay, I just want to say I love what's going on with

28:50Auburn. They're doing great. And, you know, my wife and I are having problems.

28:56Like, did you ever have to Dr.

28:57Phil the situation? Because you thought you were there to do sports analysis, but really

29:01someone just wanted to call in to chat.

29:03Look, this has to do with during COVID, and I'm not claiming that Sports Talk

29:09Radio is saving the world.

29:11Far from it. But during COVID, March, April, May, June 2020, I was doing nationwide

29:38To a large extent, my job then, Buck, I really mean this, was to be

29:42a therapist for people who are otherwise sports fans.

29:46Because a lot of people didn't get the opportunity to just sit at home and

29:50eat Cheetos and watch Netflix.

29:52A lot of guys, especially early in the morning, are up on the road, they're

30:34I'm telling you, you go back and you listen to a lot of those March,

30:37April, May, and June shows, a lot of it was therapy for guys that were

30:41busting their ass and didn't have sports to be able to escape, and the world's

30:44falling down around them, and they still got to be in that truck, and they

30:48got to deliver that beer to a gas station, or they got to still be,

30:51you know, showing up at their jobs when everybody, the higher end your job was,

30:56you just slept in, right?

30:58You're not waking up at 6 a .m.

30:59Remember when, like, everybody was getting up at like 10 a .m.

31:02in the morning, they started to look at the data, and nobody was waking up

31:06early in the morning who had, you know, working from home, things changed enormously, and

31:10a lot of people didn't get that opportunity and still had to go and work

31:15no matter what. I think it's very important being able to separate yourself from just

31:19the rudimentary routine that you're in on a day -to -day basis, whether it's prayer

31:26or meditation. I'm actually doing yoga with Carrie after this.

31:31Yoga, sports. I find video games are...

31:35Elon and I, I find video games are a super easy way to kind of...

31:40What does your wife think about video games?

31:42I try not to play them when she...

31:45I feel like... Women hate, women hate men playing video games.

31:51Sports, like, they may not love you watching sports, they really hate walking in.

31:56I'm talking about, like, 20s and 30s.

31:58I try to, like, slyly sort of just turn it off, like, just checking to

32:01see if it still works.

32:04You know? As a general rule, women do not find it attractive for men to

32:10play video. And when I'm, like, changing diapers and cleaning the kitchen, I get Wifey

32:15walking around, you know, spandex and feeling great.

32:18When she catches a little too much video games going on, all of a sudden,

32:22Wifey's, like, triple XL sweatshirt, like Mrs.

32:26Doubtfire style out there. It's amazing how that happens.

32:29The young men, and I know we have some young men listening, just have this

32:34idea that, you know, they're going to have a girlfriend and she's going to be

32:39incredibly good -looking and she's going to love playing Call of Duty.

32:43with him right like there's this there's this young male fantasy it's like we're just

32:47gonna we're just gonna be like fighting world war ii battles and then when we're

32:51tired of fighting world war ii battles on call of duty we're gonna make out

32:55and it's gonna be yeah it's probably and they sell them right they sell them

32:59on this idea because there's a couple of pretty girls like what was the olivia

33:03munn back in the day he's like i love video games and star wars and

33:06i'm gonna dress up like princess leia and we're just gonna play this is like

33:09all the uh all the maxim magazine models in the heyday of maxim magazine they

33:14would do some little interview and they're just like i like a guy with a

33:17little bit of a beer belly that i can hug and cuddle it's like sure

33:20you do sure you do uh olga the bikini model like absolutely yeah um rush

33:27uh coming back to this clip when you shared that uh comedians uh uh take

33:33what was the comedian's name by the way should we give him credit did we

33:36give him credit again for it i'll i'll pull it up right now make sure

33:39we give him credit peter revello doing his routine on the now i follow him

33:45because like i just i thought that was a really funny routine he's got some

33:48other funny bits too sports talker this is one good thing about instagram by the

33:52way comedians have just taken off on the reels function if you find a couple

33:56of funny cuts like it's been phenomenal for them uh but uh so that comedian

34:01talking about sports talk radio callers rush obviously as many of you know was huge

34:07uh sports fan was involved in sports for much of his career of a variety

34:12of different perspectives in fact there was talk for a while that rush was going

34:16to buy his own team um because of the success he had with this radio

34:24royals back in the day and what sports teams did and meant to people i

34:31thought this was really interesting well done pulled by the staff this is from 2017

34:35i believe cut 19 one thing about sports fandom i had a sociologist from harvard

34:41once tell me that the the great thing about sports and i've i've never forgotten

34:46this folks i was working for kansas city royals winter meetings one year in scottsdale

34:52arizona we had this harvard sociologist nice little boy my first reaction are you kidding

34:57me we've got some ivy leaguer coming down here trying to tell us added techniques

35:03on marketing our teams and yeah yeah yeah well so i went well it was

35:08mandatory i went and the guy said something that was actually one of those things

35:14that when he said it yeah absolute wish you could have thought of it yourself

35:18but you didn't he said the beauty of sports now remember all this is in

35:25the context of us who were in marketing and sales trying to expand the number

35:30of people that visit the ballpark or watch on tv and and ways to exploit

35:35their fandom he said the the the unique thing about sports is the one thing

35:41you can invest total passion without consequence he said try that with a woman or

35:50there were some women who looked at them said try that with a man and

35:53what he meant by that was your team may lose and they may disappoint you

36:00but your team will never try to take half of what you've got your team

36:05will never divorce you team will never reject you your team will never unless you

36:11throw beer on a player they'll never kick you out of the place but when

36:15interpersonal relationships all everybody their first time they get heartbreak or hurt they're reserved after

36:21that they don't want that to happen again and so they do not invest their

36:25passion totally because there's consequence when you can this is this is the definition of

36:33uber fandom invest total passion without consequence it's really kind of fascinating and i mean

36:40i think again there are women who are sports fans um you know 25 of

36:45sports fandom but for most diehard sports fans is male um and it is really

36:51kind of interesting to think through that um and many of you may be in

36:55your relationships with your dad or your brothers or your best friends um a huge

37:01portion of the conversations that i have with uh the men in my family is

37:06sports related right the boys in my family still sports related it's a form of

37:11love language for men that is not defined in that way and i thought the

37:15comedian on the flip on a funny side of it making that point and then

37:19rush on a more serious side kind of deconstructing the psychology behind it does make

37:24sense well it's important for people to be able to have conversations that that share

37:28any kind of a common ground which i know you this is why and i

37:31i have to take credit for this because it's true it's an observation about clay

37:34and he admits it he straight up trusts you and likes you more if you're

37:38an sec football fan he's like oh i can give you the keys to my

37:41car i can you're like you're a good dude or gal you're a good person

37:44you like sec football um but being able to find common ground with people uh

37:49that you can share is is very powerful and even reminds me of i feel

37:54like i used to think that small talk was people there's a lot of people

37:57say i don't do small talk or small talk's a waste of time small talk

38:00is actually just about establishing the energy and the exchange between two people it's kind

38:07of like hey i'm here i'm a friendly and i'm hope you're good and we're

38:12all good and it's putting everyone at ease right small talk is not about the

38:15exchange of information it's the exchange of energy that comes from it or the the

38:21intent if you will of the exchange which is hey i'm happy to see you

38:25you're happy to see me i wish you well you wish me well and we're

38:29talking about the weather because people don't really care to talk about the weather but

38:32the point is establishing that commonality and i see that a lot with the people

38:37who are sports ball fans yes and by the way you know what that commonality

38:41often is lost in now phones because it used to be that you would have

38:47conversations with strangers more now what most of us do and i do this too

38:52is if you're standing in a line or if you're engaged in um you know

38:57some activity so many people look down at their phones and so you dial out

39:03um of the circumstances and surroundings around you and your human interaction has now been

39:09translated into the phone um we've got a funny clip uh somewhat funny it's good

39:15it's good for me um uh from kamala harris that we will play close out
