2:30So, Trump doing something of an early victory tour with regard to Iran, but also

2:35the economy, a whole range of things that he is, well, he's saying are going

2:42great. Going great. And he already talked, we talked about the Iran war with him

2:47in the last hour. We will get to that.

2:50But he's also pointing out that the Democrats want to raise their taxes.

2:56The Democrats don't understand how to, well, how to really fix any problem.

3:02In fact, they make problems worse.

3:04One thing I wanted to put out there, Clay, we've talked about Washington, D .C.

3:09on track for, it's murder rate is down 50 % year over year, and carjackings

3:17are down 40%, and carjackings were a big problem there.

3:21So, that's just one place.

3:23You and I will be visiting the Capitol sometime this spring, and it's a different

3:29city now. And people who are there are telling me, people, I have friends, many

3:34friends who live there, and they say that it's just great.

3:37And you're noticing that these other news networks, they don't really give you the news.

3:41These are stories that people should know.

3:44These are positive stories. They are newsworthy stories.

3:49But they don't like to talk about it.

3:52Because, unfortunately, the news is a political narrative to so many.

3:55It's not actually about what is worthwhile information for the public to be told, data,

4:03facts, and knowledge to be shared with the American people.

4:07It is generally to just confirm the political prejudices of people and tell them what

4:14they already thought they wanted to know.

4:15But here, yes, sir. I was just going to say, I'll give you an example

4:18of that, Buck. I was in D .C.

4:20Wednesday night, finished dinner, walked back to my hotel.

4:25It was probably 10 .30, not like super late or anything.

4:30Streets, it felt insanely safe.

4:33And the way that I judge how does it feel safe, I probably walked a

4:36mile and a half, so it wasn't a small walk.

4:38Tons of single women out, and they didn't seem remotely concerned about 10 .30, 11

4:46p .m., walking on the street solo.

4:49That's a pretty good test, right?

4:50If you're in a city and you're a single woman, how comfortable do you feel

4:54out walking by yourself well after dark, 10 .30 or 11?

4:58We both subscribe to the chicks jogging alone at night litmus test.

5:04It's the ultimate test of any neighborhood.

5:08Do women feel comfortable in that neighborhood jogging alone at night?

5:12If the answer is yes, you're in a safe neighborhood.

5:15If the answer is no, you got problems.

5:17And that is, I bet you're seeing a lot more joggers on the mall.

5:22I bet you're seeing more joggers up in.

5:24Rock Creek Park. You know, you and I both know D .C.

5:27well from our years there.

5:29So this is a great thing.

5:31So I just want to point out that while we're talking Iran and how it

5:34does look like Trump has checkmated the mullahs, we'll see, but he's very close.

5:41There's a lot of other things going on that are really good.

5:43Meanwhile, Democrats just make things worse.

5:46Here he is in Vegas.

5:47Here's Trump in Vegas. This is cut three.

5:49He's just saying, keep in mind, we just had tax day.

5:52Democrats just want to raise your taxes as if we're not spending too much money

5:55already. Play it. We can never forget that every single radical left Democrat in Congress

6:00voted to deny the American people these life -saving changes.

6:03They voted for tax increases.

6:05They wanted your taxes to go up.

6:07I've never seen it before.

6:08You know, all my life I've been sort of always interested in politics.

6:11Never did it before. I decided to do it a little while ago, not too

6:14long, but I've never seen it before.

6:16It always was, I'd watch politicians for 30 years, 40 years.

6:19We will lower your taxes.

6:21We will lower your taxes.

6:22These are the only people, the Democrats now, the modern -day Democrats.

6:26We will raise your taxes.

6:27And I just don't think it's winnable.

6:30I don't know. Maybe I'm a little old -fashioned, I guess.

6:33It is true, Clay. The Democrat Party has moved away from being the party of

6:38the working class, the party of small, you know, and never really was a small

6:44business owner's party. But they've moved away from people who were Democrats in those categories

6:49for sure, and they are now the party of coastal, wealthy elites and those who

6:57are dependent on government largesse in one capacity or another.

7:01So a lot of people at the top, a lot of people at the very

7:04bottom economically, and then the middle class, which they talk about a lot, is the

7:08one getting squeezed all the time.

7:11What I said on tax day is a stat that when I saw it, you

7:17actually look at it, will blow your mind.

7:20Roughly half of all Americans pay no federal income tax.

7:23Oh, that's been true for a long time.

7:24Yeah, but I think a lot of people still don't know it because Democrats are

7:28always talking about, we've got to tax the rich, and the rich make the 1%,

7:35right, top 1%, makes about 26 % of the income, and they pay 46 %

7:41of the taxes. And the question that never gets asked, because obviously we have a

7:47lot of legacy media that never follows up, what is a fair share, right?

7:51If 1 % of the United States population is paying nearly half of the taxes,

7:57what would be a fair share to Elizabeth Warren?

8:00Should they pay 90 %?

8:02What tax rate should the wealthiest have to bear?

8:05And the important thing here also, and I think this is so important, is we

8:10don't have a revenue problem.

8:12We have a spending problem.

8:15The federal government brings in $5 trillion in taxes and spends around $7.

8:22And the overall spending is out of control.

8:26At some point, if you just take a step back and think about this from

8:28the perspective of your own families, if you and your wife, and let's say you've

8:34got a family, let's say you're a family of four, if you were making hundreds

8:38of thousands of dollars a year and you spend a million, at some point in

8:43time, I think you would have to recognize that the revenue coming into your home

8:48is not the issue. It's the spending that is the issue.

8:52And everybody understands the basic marketplace economics of that.

8:57And yet, the Elizabeth Warrens of the world, you go look at her Twitter feed,

9:01it's all just we should have more.

9:04And even that clip that went viral of Mom Donnie standing outside of the private

9:11homes of New York citizens demanding that they pay way more.

9:16I mean, I think it's just going to lead to further exodus of wealthy people

9:20from New York City, L .A., Chicago.

9:22Did you see the stats on this, Buck?

9:24Because I think this ties in with it.

9:25New York, we know people in New York City are frustrated.

9:30What about L .A.? Did you see that we've got record low satisfaction in L

9:35.A.? As you and I have talked about, one of maybe the most beautiful areas

9:39in the entire country, the world even, Karen Bass has a 25 % approval rating.

9:46Can we play this cut, guys?

9:47This is talking about why are people in L .A.

9:51so profoundly unsatisfied with their community?

9:55Listen. 1 ,400 L .A.

9:57County residents were surveyed earlier this year.

9:59The high cost of living is the main driver of the lowest score of the

10:03Quality of Life Index has ever received.

10:06Besides cost of living, participants were asked about public safety, health care, your neighborhood, transportation

10:12and traffic, education, the environment, jobs and the economy, and race relations.

10:16Now, the survey found 31 % are worried about a family member or someone close

10:22to them being deported from the U .S.

10:24because of their immigration status.

10:26Those surveyed were also asked about the L .A.

10:28mayor's race, with incumbent Karen Bass only receiving 25 % of support with 40 %

10:34undecided. 26 % of residents reported wildfire -related income loss, and 56 % were dissatisfied

10:41with wildfire recovery efforts. I think this is such a good example, Buck, because when

10:47L .A. burned, most people out there, if you said, hey, what is the number

10:51one job? of government. What should government do?

10:54Most people would say provide safety, right?

10:58I think that's probably number one and maybe number one in the safety bucket would

11:02be if your house is on fire, there should be a fire department that can

11:07put it out. I don't think there's very many of you out there that would

11:10say, hey, you know what?

11:11I think the firemen aren't doing enough.

11:14I'm really anti -firemen. I don't even know that there would be an anti -firemen

11:18community. And yet LA has become so dysfunctional that when the city was burning, which

11:23was a very foreseeable event, they didn't have the resources bucked to put out the

11:27fire. It gets worse. Now it's been over a year later.

11:31They don't have the resources and the permitting processes in place to allow people to

11:36rebuild the home that the city allowed to burn down.

11:39And at some point that just becomes infuriating.

11:42Let's hear from the phenomenal mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, which has cut 17.

11:50Oh, sorry. I thought you were calling for it.

11:53My bad. Yes. Karen Bass, she doesn't know what to do.

11:57Karen Bass is not a good mayor, but this is not surprising.

12:0125 % approval. This is not surprising.

12:0425%. Now, let's understand this.

12:07They are doing permits now.

12:10But because of the tax structure and the environmental situation of Los Angeles and California

12:16more broadly, people are not going to be able to rebuild for a long time,

12:21even if they get the permit.

12:23And they're going to have to pay taxes at the newly assessed rate.

12:27And they're now trying to get multifamily homes built so they can do denser urban

12:34planning stuff in these previously very beautiful single family home neighborhoods.

12:40So it's a disaster. The whole thing is a mess.

12:45But people are seeing this, I think, more clearly than they have in a long

12:49time, which is why the satisfaction numbers have gone down so precipitously.

12:55But yet I sit here and say, you just did your whole thing about Kamala

12:58last time. I think Gavin Newsom is still going to be the nominee, folks.

13:02We've got to mark this down, too.

13:03I think Gavin Newsom is going to fight his way to the top of the

13:06pack. Clay, I don't think that they're going to run a woman for a third

13:09loss from a woman. I think that's a huge problem.

13:12And I know maybe that sounds not sexist, just reality.

13:16They've run women a couple of times, and they have gotten beaten soundly.

13:21They ran the oldest, most befuddled white dude they could possibly find.

13:28And he somehow became president.

13:31I know some of you don't like it when I say one, but he became

13:34president. That is a fact.

13:35So I think they have to take all of that into account.

13:39But California's governor's race is also just indicative of the really the sort of depraved

13:47state of Democrat governance, that this is the guy that they were going to elect

13:53is now gone because he's been accused of being really a sexual abuser and even

13:59a serial rapist. Yes. That's the best that California, the largest state by population and

14:07the fifth largest economy in the world can do.

14:11That's the best. I how is that possible?

14:15And they couldn't figure this out before.

14:17This isn't like stuff that was that hard.

14:20It just goes to show you also there's no oppo media on these people.

14:24There's no there's no opposition media on Democrats by the the old legacy outlets, the

14:31the corporate media that we're supposed to trust, which no one trusts anymore.

14:34And they shouldn't. I did.

14:36Buck. It's interesting. You know, we talked about the Swalwell timing.

14:39I did see what I thought was interesting.

14:42There's a report out there that they were prepared to blow him up in the

14:47presidential race and then he dropped out and they just didn't think he was consequential

14:52enough for the media to do a deep dive on him until he decided to

14:57stick his head back up and run for run for governor.

15:01Now, this raises all sorts of interesting questions, because basically what you're saying is it's

15:05OK for him to engage in this behavior if he just is a congressman, right?

15:11He's one of four hundred and thirty five.

15:13He's not a big enough name.

15:14We're not going to really go after him.

15:15It reminds me of the Kavanaugh thing because people you and I talked about this

15:19off air. Kavanaugh was on the D .C.

15:21circuit, if I remember correctly, he was one of the most powerful judges, probably one

15:25of the 20 most powerful judges in the country, roughly when he was on the

15:29D .C. circuit. But as soon as he got nominated for the Supreme Court, moving

15:33from top 20 to top nine, it was, hey, we got to have an all

15:37points bulletin out. We'll make up as many stories about him as possible.

15:40And so it does feel like Swalwell.

15:43They're like, OK, but you can be, you know, your California attack dog is one

15:47of four hundred and thirty five congressmen, but that his decision to run for governor

15:52and have success because to your point, Buck, he was going to be the guy

15:56was what ultimately required that the party mobilize and take him out.

16:02It is interesting what levels of because most people would say, hey, congressman's kind of

16:06a significant kind of a significant overall role, but they're but they just didn't care

16:11until he decided that he wanted to be governor and then everything fell apart.

17:14they did that show the poop cruise which probably some of you have seen being

17:17stuck on a cruise ship and not being able to get off might be my

17:20personal hell uh but right yeah back in COVID days they made everybody stay on

17:24quarantine them in those tiny little rooms uh I mean that's basically a floating prison

25:17we wanted to dive into it with you supreme court justice clarence thomas gave a

25:21lecture at ut austin uh earlier this week and he was talking about the 250th

25:29anniversary of the declaration of independence and his personal encounters with american founding principals clay

25:37no surprise there were protesters protesters of course the supreme court justice comes to a

25:44state school and you have to have idiots who don't want him there instead of

25:49listening and perhaps learning something they would rather squawk and bleat and you know bang

25:56cowbells and do all the other idiotic things that these leftists love to do but

26:02we wanted to bring you some of the uh some of the highlights of this

26:06and for one clarence thomas supreme court justice is not shy this is cut 14

26:11not shy about progressivism calling out progressivism as a threat play it at the beginning

26:18of the 20th century a new set of first principles of government was introduced into

26:25the american mainstream the proponents of this new set of first principles most prominent among

26:33them the 28th president of our country woodrow wilson called it progressivism the century of

26:42progressivism did not go well the european system that wilson and the progressive scolded americans

26:49for not adopting which he called nearly perfect led to the governments that caused the

26:56most awful century that the world has ever seen stalin hitler mussolini and mao all

27:05were intertwined with the rise of progressivism and all were opposed to the natural rights

27:11on which our declaration are based in order to thank you to include all the

27:14outstandingYA 好ramopistsore the benefit of the LDLgestist Executive Actors Starzrows Clay, he knows.

27:17He pays attention. Yeah, look, and we've been talking some about the idea of Justice

27:24Alito stepping down. In fact, he's favored to.

27:28Clarence Thomas is only a couple of years away now from becoming, I believe I'm

27:32correct on this team, look this up.

27:35Molly Hemingway, by the way, coming on the show next Tuesday.

27:38She's written a book about Alito to discuss that book with us, and we'll get

27:42her take on whether she thinks Alito might step down.

27:45But Clarence Thomas -Buck, if I'm not mistaken, is only about a year and a

27:49half away from becoming the longest -serving Supreme Court justice, I believe, of all time.

27:57And so there's the expectation that he will not step down because he wants to

28:03get that title. Good for him.

28:06Team, confirm that that's correct.

28:08We've got a couple more from him, and I think this is important.

28:12He was talking at the University of Texas at Austin, the main UT campus down

28:16in the state of Texas, Buck, and he also directly addressed intolerance about younger generations.

28:22And this is something that my wife and I have been focused on because it's

28:26one of the reasons we made a donation to Vanderbilt University to their law school.

28:33Seriously, I think that that young person should ask yourself while you're in college, how

28:38do you all deal with differences?

28:40Because I joined a court that dealt with differences as friends, as we respected each

28:45other. And I don't know how that civility, I don't know how you bring it

28:49back in the current environment with social media and name -calling and people accusing each

28:56other of various things and animus.

28:58I don't know how you do that.

28:59And I fear that that's going to infect the institutions such as the court and

29:05judges, etc., in the future because these are the young people who will be in

29:09these jobs. One of the things I'm most concerned about in law schools, Buck, and

29:14I do think it's really significant, it didn't exist when I was in law school,

29:17is the idea that the cases that you take on as an advocate in some

29:24way are your own personal reflections of the world.

29:28Now, sometimes that can be the case, right?

29:31If you happen to work, say, at a First Amendment center, you would be taking

29:36on cases typically that would be expansive in the First Amendment.

29:40But if you are engaged in many practices of law, it is the fact that

29:45you will sometimes represent people you don't like, you don't agree with, but that have

29:49a right to be zealously defended under the Constitution.

29:52And so I think arguably this is maybe the most important thing that lawyers have

29:57an obligation to do is zealously advocate to the best of our ability sometimes, oftentimes,

30:03say even, for individuals and for situations and cases that we would not personally advocate

30:09for if we were not in the job of being an advocate.

30:13You know, you're a lawyer.

30:14You're an advocate for someone else.

30:16You aren't typically espousing your own views.

30:19And I think a lot of young lawyers have lost that, and they somehow believe,

30:23oh, if I represent this case or this person, that's a reflection of my personal

30:27beliefs. I think that's one of the big, major institutional flaws that is now taken

30:33root across all of the legal profession.

30:35It's worth noting that President Trump came up against this where there was a really

30:41concerted effort through the upper ranks of the legal profession, the private sector side, to

30:48prevent any good attorneys from name -brand firms from doing any work involving Trump or

30:56even the administration or anything at all.

30:58They tried to make MAGA untouchable for the purposes of big law.

31:06And that just goes to show you how quickly they're willing to abandon principle on

31:12these matters and how some of the most core and basic understandings of what our

31:16system is supposed to be all about can be dispensed with so quickly by those

31:23who have the Democrat persuasion in their ideology.

31:28Buck, this is also a big story that's not getting a ton of attention.

31:31California is stripping away the law license of one of, to your point on President

31:37Trump's legal advisors, for legal advice to a client that they do not like.

31:43This is crazy. I mean, that we would allow a bar association to go to

31:50the point of lawyers give all sorts of advice to clients.

31:53And unless the legal advice is, hey, here's how you dispose of a dead body,

31:59right? I mean, there are certain legal standards that are applied.

32:02You can't be involved in helping a crime to be committed that is a direct

32:07crime. But all of the advice that the President of the United States gets and

32:12got about electors, about the entire process surrounding how power is transferred, I thought was

32:19very within the bounds constitutionally of acceptable advice.

32:24They're taking away this guy, Eastman.

32:26I believe it's Eastman. Guys can correct me if I'm wrong.

32:28Taking away his law license in California.

32:30And I talked about this the other day, Buck.

32:32It's one reason I'm glad that I'm licensed in the state of Tennessee, because we

32:36have basic common sense in the state of Tennessee.

32:38But I think that people would have come after my law license 100 % if

32:43I... I were licensed in Washington, D .C., or if I were licensed in California

32:48or New York. I mean, remember, our good buddy Swalwell wanted me criminally prosecuted for

32:54saying I don't believe that Trump should be convicted.

32:56I mean, he tweeted that.

32:57And I got a bar examination into my record for and I said, hey, you

33:01know, I'm a lawyer, but I'm also a prognosticator.

33:04I have to be able to say exactly what I think.

33:06By the way, Clarence Thomas would become the all time longest serving Supreme Court justice.

33:13Sometime in 2028, if he continues on the bench.

33:16And I think that goal matters to him quite a lot, Buck, because we're playing

33:20these cuts of Clarence Thomas.

33:22I don't think he's ever really recovered from the nastiness of his of his confirmation

33:27hearings. And I think he sees as the ultimate vindication becoming the longest serving justice

33:35as a way to spite his critics.

33:38And I think that matters to him significantly.

33:40So I don't think he's going to step down.

33:42That comes with risk because I believe he's 78 years old.

33:45But I do think Alito is going to step down.

33:47I think we're going to have a Supreme Court opening this summer, which will turn

33:52into a huge story. It'll be a big story.

33:57I'm not sure the fight.

33:59One thing would be interesting is if they're going to go with a woman again,

34:01just because remember the they couldn't Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett.

34:07Yeah, that was for sure.

34:09Maybe they would try this time around and say that there was some lady that

34:13worked for her or something that she touched.

34:15But the the reality is the Democrat playbook on that stuff was not as effective

34:21for obvious reasons the second time around after they tried it on Kavanaugh.

34:26So I think you're likely to get a very good judge from Trump if Alito

34:31steps down. And I feel like Alito is a team player.

34:34Maybe I'm just reading too much into this, but I feel like he thinks, you

34:37know, honestly, I believe in that.

34:40He wants a justice who shares his principles, which I would view as actual legal

34:46and constitutional principles instead of political whim or politicized feeling about things, which I do

34:54believe. And I understand this is not this is of course I'm going to feel

34:58this way. Yes, I think his wife may be ready to be done with it,

35:02too, because remember, they came after her over the flags that she was flying outside

35:06of their homes. And he's 76 years old.

35:10I think if you're in good health, some of you out there are probably in

35:14this position and you're thinking, hey, I don't know how many more years we have.

35:17Let's go do fun things.

35:19Let's be grandparents. Let's not be bogged down in the same way with working.

35:24I saw a stat the other day that blew me away.

35:26Buck, only 37 percent of Americans work after the age of 55 years old now.

35:32And I'm 47. And I was looking at I'm kind of in disbelief that only

35:3737 percent of Americans even continue to work past 55.

35:41So the age of some of our political figures, whether it's politicians or judges, and

35:47obviously their jobs are less.

35:49They're not, you know, putting down asphalt, but it is kind of wild.

35:53The amount of people 55 doesn't seem that old to me to just decide, hey,

35:58you know what? I've had enough of this.

35:59My brother in law retired at 51 the other day and I couldn't believe it.

36:04I'm like, you're retired. You're 51.

36:06Um, anyway, uh, so 76, uh, for most jobs would be a very advanced age,

36:11uh, under which to be pursuing them.

44:52blah, blah, all that stuff, but her ego's too big, and so she's likely to

44:57go for it now, although I'll forget ever having said this if it turns out

45:00by some miracle she doesn't run.
