3:11Welcome back to A Numbers Game with Ryan Gerdusky.

3:13I'm so glad you're here because I have a lot to tell you about.

3:16So on last Friday's show, I told you about a controversy engulfing Congressman Representative Tony

3:22Gonzalez from Texas. He represents the district on the border.

3:26And since that episode came out, things have gone from bad to worse for the

3:32Texas Congressman. For those who missed the episode, which, why are you missing episodes?

3:36Like and subscribe, am I right?

3:38But for those who missed the episode, here's a quick recap.

3:41In September, a staffer named Regina Santos Aviles died, a staffer of his died from

3:47setting herself on fire after she claimed that an affair with Gonzalez had gone wrong

3:53and he ghosted her and that her entire life was destroyed.

3:56Her husband and her had broken up.

3:58He had taken the child and she set herself on fire, unfortunately, in front of

4:02her mother. Anyway, Gonzalez claimed that in the wake of her death, that he had

4:07absolutely nothing to do with it.

4:09You know, he had nothing to do with it.

4:11There wasn't an affair. Now, remember, Tony Gonzalez is a married man.

4:16He has a wife named Angel and they have six children together.

4:22Yes, this he and Angel, this woman named Angel, gave him six children.

4:27And this is how he's chosen to treat her in public.

4:3024 site news reported that new text messages have been revealed between Tony Gonzalez and

4:36the deceased staffer. And it's not only clear that there, yes, there was a relationship,

4:43but he was the one incentivizing the relationship.

4:47He was the one pushing the relationship, even when she said no.

4:51Messages from May 2024 revealed that Congressman Gonzalez requested, quote, sexy pictures from the staffer.

4:58And she declined not once, but four times.

5:02From the article, it says this.

5:04The message showed the exchange between the beginning around midnight in May 2024.

5:09First of all, why are you texting a staffer at midnight?

5:13Unless it's, I've been robbed at gunpoint, I'm in the hospital.

5:17Unless it's literally an emergency, why are you messaging an employee at midnight?

5:22That's first. That's first. With Gonzalez asking Santos Aviles to send him, quote, sexy pictures,

5:27she deflected writing that her life had been a telenovela for the past seven days

5:32and that he didn't, quote, really want a hot picture of her.

5:35When, by the way, this is what people do when they are in positions that

5:40they feel they feel that they need to get out of, but they don't want

5:46to be rude. So they're either making a joke or they're saying, no, you really

5:50don't want this, trying to convince the other person.

5:54Gonzalez responded that he was just a, quote, visual person, a visual person.

6:01Okay. Santos Aviles declined again, saying that she didn't like to take those kinds of

6:06pictures of herself. As the conversation continued, Gonzalez asked about sexual preferences and positions.

6:12The message indicated Santos Aviles repeatedly pushed back, this is going too far, boss, at

6:1812 .50 a .m. So they've talked for over an hour at this point back

6:25and forth in text messages.

6:26You can imagine that one of their spouses may be laying next to them in

6:29bed, probably hers too, as they're sitting there and she's repeatedly being asked, send me

6:34a naked photo, send me a naked photo.

6:35She was also asked, she asked Gonzalez, did you hire me because of my appearance?

6:41How long have you, you know, did you find me attractive for?

6:46Gonzalez pressed her continuously with more sexually explicit questions.

6:51And I hope your kids are not in the room right now, what I'm going

6:53to say. He asked her at one point, do you like anal?

6:57Which at one point Santos and Aviles pushed back, never.

7:00The message was so over the top that she asked him at one point, are

7:04you sober? That is how aggressive he was to this woman who was his employee

7:11and he was an elected official.

7:14It would be bad if this was a private sector experience.

7:17There's a power dynamic here.

7:19But the fact that you are an elected official, you're elected to represent this woman,

7:23she probably voted for him and she works for him.

7:27And he is prying her with information.

7:30He is asking her explicit information.

7:32Think about the power dynamics.

7:35Think of what is probably going through her head.

7:37There's a self gratification of, oh, he thinks I'm attractive.

7:41That makes me feel good.

7:42She has had a son.

7:44A lot of people don't feel, you know, as attractive as they once did as

7:47they get older, as they have children.

7:49But he finds me attractive.

7:51He's my boss. He's this powerful man.

7:53She's pushing back. She's pushing back.

7:55But he does not take the bait.

7:57He continues. He continued with several other questions about her and what he would like

8:02to do to her in bed.

8:04She's reminding him continually in the conversation, you are my boss.

8:08Hint, hint. This is appropriate.

8:10Hint, hint. But she said no.

8:13And the more she said no, the more he wanted it.

8:16Other female staffers have gone on background in this article saying that they also received

8:25late night text messages that came off as forward.

8:29They never said that they were explicitly sexual, but they made them feel comfortable from

8:36this father of six. So she, those same staffers also say that Aviles, Regina Aviles,

8:43came to them and said, this is what's going on.

8:46You know, she came out and she said, this is what's going on.

8:49I'm having this affair. She said, I feel terrible.

8:52I messed everything up. But other former staffers said that he used the fact that

8:57he was the boss to give her special community projects that she was interested in

9:03and special promotions to keep her in the office.

9:07Things that she enjoyed. She was enticed to stay working for him because I'm sure

9:13someone's saying, why didn't she just leave?

9:15Why didn't she just leave?

9:16He's throwing benefits at her for her, for her job, things that maybe she wanted

9:22to do for a very long time.

9:24She's getting the chance to do because he's sitting there as the boss and he

9:28knows that she's attracted. She knows that he's attracted to her.

9:31When her husband found out, he told her the only way to keep the marriage

9:36together was for her to resign from her job.

9:38That seems very obvious. She refused saying that she wanted to finish these projects that

9:44Tony Gonzalez was giving her, the projects that she loved and wanted to do for

9:49a very long time. He was dangling them like special treats and enticing her, making

9:54her feel sexy, making her feel wanted, making her, giving her professional promotions, professional promotions

10:01and professional projects that she liked.

10:03He was keeping her very happy and, you know, basically love bombing her in many

10:10ways. Gonzalez continued to say this was a coordinated political attack.

10:14All these leaked messages. That's honestly one of the stupidest thing in the world.

10:18Now, sir, this woman was your employee and you used your position of power to

10:23lure her to you, to have a sexual relationship with you.

10:29You knew that you had the power over her the entire time.

10:32You were married. You knew she was married.

10:34You know you're a father.

10:35You know she was a mother.

10:37You didn't seem to care about anybody's life throughout this entire situation, sir.

10:43This is not a political attack or a coordinated effort.

10:48The fact that this... woman is deceased after you ghosted her because her life was

10:55ruined. Now, she's not, you know, an angel.

10:58She's not, you know, she did.

11:00She laid in the bed to wherever it was, the desk, who knows.

11:03But she very much tells him in these messages, no, no, no, no, no, no,

11:09no. A series of times.

11:11And every time she told him no, he wanted her more.

11:17He was more aggressive with it.

11:19He was dangling more cherries at her saying, this is an opportunity for you.

11:24He didn't care about her.

11:27He didn't care about the life he was destroying.

11:31And not only that, he was pursuing other women in his office while doing the

11:38same thing, while he was doing that to her.

11:40He was doing the same thing to other women while he was in this relationship

11:44with her, while he was married.

11:46With all this information coming out, the congressional Republicans are finally breaking.

11:52As of this taping of this episode, which is being taped on Tuesday, remember what

11:57I told you in the past, Tony Gonzalez is not just a creep, but he

12:00was not that conservative. He was allegedly attacking other Republicans who, during Biden's administration, wanted

12:09to crack down heavily at the border.

12:11Allegedly, he called the entire Texas delegation a bunch of racists for wanting to crack

12:17down on illegal immigration. Allegedly.

12:20Well, a flurry of House Republicans are finally calling on him to resign or drop

12:25out of the race. Lauren Boeber, who's a pretty conservative firebrand from Colorado, was the

12:29first to go public. She tweeted resign.

12:31That was followed up by women like Anna Polina Luna, Mary Miller, Nancy Mays, all

12:36Congresswomen from Florida, Illinois, and South Carolina.

12:40But it wasn't just women.

12:42Brandon Gill came out. He's been on this podcast, and I worked for him for

12:45his campaign. He called on Gonzalez to give up his re -election bid.

12:50And that's not all. Tim Burgess from Tennessee, he is known as one of the

12:54nicest men in Congress. I'll tell you a secret.

12:59Allegedly, when George Santos was having his, you know, expose has been coming out one

13:07after the other, and they were moving to kick him out of office, Tim Burgess

13:13allegedly would go to him to check on his mental health to make sure that

13:16he wasn't in a really dark place where, you know, bad things can happen.

13:22He's known as an incredibly, incredibly nice human being.

13:26So, wanted to point that out.

13:28Anyway, there's also Eli Crane, Chip Roy, Thomas Massey.

13:31The Freedom Caucus, which is the conservative caucus of the most conservative members of the

13:36House, have endorsed his opponent, and they're spending money on behalf of his opponent.

13:39This is all coming at Speaker Johnson like a freight train.

13:44People are asking Speaker Johnson to revoke his endorsement of Gonzalez, and he's claiming that

13:49these people are, that these are very serious allegations, but he wants to know more

13:53information, that this needs to play out.

13:56That's kind of odd to say because Gonzalez is not under a criminal investigation.

14:01It's not like Gonzalez, you know, actually, you know, lit the flame himself.

14:05He didn't. But these are just private conversations.

14:10This is the kind of thing that would get you fired from a private sector

14:13business. This is, you know, absolutely a disgrace to the office.

14:18So, for him to say, let's see where this goes, is kind of a deflection.

14:22And here's why Johnson does not want to turn on Gonzalez immediately.

14:26If Gonzalez resigns from office before November, or he retires, or he switches parties, not

14:33retires, but if he switches parties, or if he just decides to become a thorn

14:36in the side, then the GOP is left with a one -seat majority in the

14:41House, and that seat is Thomas Massey.

14:44And while I like Massey personally, he has not been a reliable vote for Republicans

14:48on a number of very consequential pieces of legislation.

14:51That's why you're not going to see Johnson and likely Trump turn on Gonzalez right

14:56now, because they can't afford to lose literally one single seat.

15:02If they had a 10 -seat majority, a 20 -seat majority, I think things would

15:05be different. But they don't.

15:07That is also why I think you haven't seen him turn on a few other

15:10members who are doing nefarious things.

15:14Meanwhile, it looks like the NRCC, that's the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee, they support

15:21the House Republicans. It looks like they're also, pulling away from Gonzalez.

15:25Last election, 2024, they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to protect Gonzalez's seat.

15:30This year, nothing. And he only won by 800 votes last time.

15:36So it's a sign, either A, of confidence that he can win without their support,

15:41or B, that they just don't care anymore to support him, to protect him.

15:45I'm not exactly sure which.

15:47I'm going to continue to reach out to my contacts over in that organization, so

15:50if I can hear the gossip.

15:52But one of the two was happening, and they were saying, he's going to win,

15:54or he's going to lose no matter what we do, so we'll save the money.

15:58What I do know is this, that in the age that we are expecting more

16:02from people who are in positions that deserve respect and positions of power, when conversations

16:10over abuse of that power are happening, it really is of the utmost importance.

16:17in in importance that people who can hold them accountable do hold them accountable.

16:23Republican voters in this district should start weeding out the worst of the political class.

16:29And Tony Gonzalez is the worst of the worst.

16:33His opponent, Brandon Herrera, has a few weeks left to bring this election home and

16:37kick this, you know, kick this, you know what, to the curb.

16:41But we'll see what goes on.

16:43It's been a few more weeks of early voting, early primary voting, and then the

16:47actual primary date itself. I don't know why Texas has like six weeks of primary

16:51voting, but a few more weeks left.

16:52It is Brandon Herrera's race to lose right now, and we'll see if maybe Tony

16:57Gonzalez's long -standing support and his endorsement from President Trump is enough to get him

17:03over the finish line. I kind of doubt it is.

17:06Okay, next up we'll be talking about new polling data around AI and how Democrats

17:10are looking to get ahead of Republicans on this emerging political issue.

20:29That's odoo .com. Echelon Insights is an interesting polling firm and something that they really

20:39do that no one else does as well as they look at the political realignment,

20:43the fact that Republicans are becoming a party of more fiscally moderate but socially conservative

20:48working class people and Democrats becoming a party of college educated, very progressive voters.

20:53I know this seems so obvious now, but when they started tracking it, it really

20:56wasn't obvious. No one else was doing it like they were doing it.

20:59They were really the first ones on this whole entire, you know, movement that now

21:05encompasses our politics. And they caught political trends before everyone else did.

21:10So kudos to them. And I really need to try to get them on this

21:13podcast now that I'm thinking about it.

21:15But they have a new poll over AI.

21:18And I know, I know, because I've heard from people, I'm sure you're saying, Ryan,

21:22enough with the AI talk.

21:24Every day is like the Terminator with this channel sometimes where you're bringing up AI

21:28like once a week. I know.

21:29I do think it will be one of the most pivotal issues in 2028.

21:33I truly do. And I want to get ahead of the curb on what's trending

21:37with AI. So bear with me if you think that I've talked about it too

21:42much. I know from, I heard from somebody that I do, but I will.

21:45I will try and I will try to make this very short, but sit tight,

21:50it's important. Echelon Insights in their latest polling would ask people, how concerned are you

21:56that AI will eliminate your job in the next five years?

22:0133 % of respondents said yes, 63 % said no.

22:06One in three Americans fear for their job.

22:10What type of job do you think is at risk for AI, for AI taking

22:15them? 41 % said white collar, 13 % said blue collar, and 36 % said

22:20they would be equally under threat.

22:22Which scenario are you more worried about?

22:2459 % of respondents said that policymakers are not going far enough to regulate AI

22:31to prevent harm. 24 % say policymakers are going too far to regulate AI and

22:36stifle innovation. Would you support or oppose a data center being built in your community?

22:4335 % say support, 46 % oppose.

22:46When they asked about the purpose of the data center, it was a very different

22:51answer. If the data center is used for digital services like searching or streaming or

22:57keeping your cloud on your phone or computer, 25 % actually said they'd be more

23:01supportive of building a data center.

23:0324 % said likely, less likely.

23:06Basically, the data centers are less of a concern than what they're doing.

23:11Because when they asked, what if they were to train AI?

23:1518 % said they'd be more likely to support a data center in their community.

23:2041 % said less likely.

23:23It is becoming very obvious that there is a populist underbelly in this country that

23:29is afraid of their livelihoods because of AI.

23:33They are afraid for their kids' future, that AI is going to rob them of

23:37the chance for a good life.

23:38This cuts across generations. So what are policymakers doing about it?

23:44And this is what really ticks me off about the press, about the whole Never

23:50Trump bulk work crowd, who I did actually just invite a member from the podcast.

23:54But this is what annoys me about those people, is this is the conversation we

24:00should be having. We should be talking about the future.

24:04What would happen? What will happen?

24:06Is there any accountability? Is there any protection?

24:10Are there any guardrails? But no, they want to talk about Trump's latest breakdown or

24:15illegal aliens shouldn't have to follow the law or is this streamer gay or is,

24:20you know, what's going on with the royal family?

24:23No, this is actually really, really important to everyone's future.

24:29And it pains me to say this, Republicans, for the most part, are missing the

24:34moment. There's a few Republicans, especially in the states, who are doing things about it.

24:38Ron DeSantis is, the governor of Utah is, Spencer Cox.

24:41But there's a lot of Republicans who are just taking cues from President Trump and

24:46he's all in on AI, not supporting any regulation and actually trying to stop states

24:52from filling the void that the federal government is leaving behind.

24:56We should have a one federal standard when it comes to AI, but the feds

25:00won't create anything. So we're going to end up with 50 standards.

25:03And rather than having smart people get together to create a standard, we're going to

25:07have a lot of dumb people in 50 states creating standards.

25:10It's going to make the entire industry very, very difficult.

25:14And what I fear is that AI is going to become a wedge issue.

25:19It isn't yet. It is not gun control or immigration where everyone takes one side

25:23or the other. There's a lot of nuance still in AI.

25:27But because a lot of Republicans are feeling the need to take cues from President

25:31Trump rather than having intellectual conversation over where a third of the public are feeling

25:36right now, we are going to make this into a partisan issue where it's blue

25:41team versus red team and no one's going to win when that becomes the conversation,

25:46right? There's a lot of gray before there's a party consensus that we are living

25:50in right now. Democrats are taking note, though.

25:54Alex Thompson of Axios, he wrote, he's been on this podcast, he's a very smart

25:59reporter. He wrote that the Democratic contenders for 2028 are flip -flopping on AI right

26:05now and ramping up efforts to regulate the industry.

26:09This is from Alex Thompson's reporting.

26:11Just a few months ago, potential 2028 presidential candidates, including Illinois Governor J .B.

26:17Pritzker, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, and Maryland Governor Wes Moore were bending over backwards to

26:22lure data centers with offers of lavish tax breaks and other goodies.

26:26The projects seemed like no -brainers to many politicians.

26:29They promised jobs, made big trade unions happy, took on China and pleased Silicon Valley.

26:34Now those Democrats are abruptly retreating and vowing to protect voters from the consequences of

26:40the AI revolution. Just six years ago, Pritzker was all in for AI in Chicago

26:45before electricity costs spiked. Josh Shapiro trumpeted a $20 billion Amazon AI data center in

26:51Pennsylvania before clarifying his position and calling for more oversight.

26:56And Wes Moore went the furthest by beating legislation to study the impact of data

27:00centers, but is now calling for new state guidelines.

27:04Other Democrats like Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, you know, MP Buttigieg, the most disliked gay

27:10man to black America, to Ro Khanna.

27:13They're all calling on more regulations.

27:16And then there is Bernie Sanders.

27:18Bernie, who at 84 years old says he's not gonna run for president, but is

27:23doing everything he would do to run for president, is calling for a moratorium on

27:26all new AI data centers.

27:29And maybe he won't run, he is very old.

27:31He says his age is what's stopping him, but he's leading the party narrative.

27:36The progressive wing is taking their cues from him.

27:40But it's more than just progressives now.

27:42It's more than just AOC or Bernie or Ro Khanna.

27:46This is governors from Kentucky and Pennsylvania and politicians in must -win states who are

27:53sitting there and saying, hey, I wanna represent the one in three Americans who are

27:58afraid of AI taking their jobs.

28:00This is going to fuel a populist backlash if unemployment rate starts ticking up, especially

28:07for recent college graduates and young people.

28:11Republicans do not need to go full Bernie Sanders.

28:13They don't need to become Luddites.

28:15But polling is very obvious.

28:18They need an answer. And the answer can be, we have to beat China.

28:22No one cares. They have to sit there and say, and I know I just

28:26said sit there. I thought I was going the whole episode without saying sit there.

28:28They need to say we support regulations to protect IPs, intellectual property, to protect children,

28:40to train people. We need information just to make sure that AI can be turned

28:46off, that these robots can't, you know, there has to be a kill switch somewhere,

28:51that they can't just reroute their own entire intelligence, that they must be pro -human.

28:56There's a big conversation to be had and they're missing it.

29:00They're completely asleep. Wake up, people.

33:02He says, Hey, Ryan, since this has asked me anything, all cap locks, I've heard

33:06you make funny references to Wendy Williams before.

33:08I was a tangential fan of hers when she had her TV show.

33:12I hear now she's in a conservatorship and locked up in a senior care facility,

33:16possibly against her will. But then I listened to a more recent interview with her

33:20by Charlemagne, the God, and she didn't sound, she did indeed sound like she's no

33:25longer with it. As a well -connected New Yorker, have you heard much about what's

33:30going on with her? And were you a fan of hers as well?

33:34Thank you. I love listening to the show.

33:35Frank, thank you. I love that you listen to the show.

33:37And how are you doing?

33:38I love Wendy Williams. I loved her doc show.

33:41I loved her radio show too, because I'm from New York.

33:44I think that she was one of the best people in daytime broadcasting since like

33:52Oprah Winfrey. It's an incredibly hard job to sit in a place on a chair

33:59and talk to yourself, talk about being completely alone for 30 minutes.

34:04I do it three times a week sometimes, and it is very difficult.

34:07Even my monologue, which is like 10 minutes long sometimes, it's hard.

34:11I don't know if you guys are getting my jokes or if I'm reacting positively.

34:15At least she had an audience when she would do her hot topic segments.

34:20But it's difficult, and very few people do it well.

34:24She does it, Rush Limbaugh, there's just a handful.

34:27It's not many people who can actually just talk by themselves and hear what the

34:31audience is responding in their head without them actually talking to you.

34:35A lot of people need a guest.

34:36It doesn't make them bad.

34:37It's just a very different type of talent.

34:40And I thought she was great.

34:42I learned a lot from her.

34:43I use certain verbiage that she said in her show.

34:46I don't say old. I say a person of a certain age.

34:49I think it's a lot more respectful.

34:50She used to do that.

34:51And for those of you who don't know, Wendy Williams, she suffered from a terrible

34:56addiction for decades. And when her husband, Kelvin, cheated on her and had a baby

35:01with another woman, she really went on an extreme downward spiral.

35:05And she was like on television, allegedly looking very drunk, looking like she wasn't with

35:11it, slurring her words, belching.

35:14It was really, she was really kind of off.

35:16And she was off her show for a year before they ended it.

35:18And then around the same time that she's showing that she's less than all there,

35:25her son used her credit card to make some very, very large purchases for his

35:31birthday, allegedly. And Wells Fargo froze her accounts and a judge gave her a temporary

35:39financial guardian because they thought that she was being abused financially.

35:43She lost access to her $75 million fortune.

35:48This is actually just as a point of contention, truly insane that somebody can lose

35:55their freedom. Not from a family member saying, oh, you know, this person's sick, not

36:00from a friend from a bank, a bank took this on and put her in

36:05a financial guardianship where she had very limited access to her money.

36:10And then she was placed in a long term health care facility for people with

36:14dementia. I think it's called frontal lobe dementia, which she claimed she didn't have.

36:19There's been a lot of doubts that she had it.

36:22It was probably alcohol induced, but not permanent, the damage.

36:26She's definitely taken a step back from where she was as a performer.

36:31She repeats herself a little bit.

36:33However, that doesn't mean that she has dementia like it was originally claimed.

36:39It's really a terrible story.

36:41And the shocking thing is, is when this happened, you know, it happened just a

36:45few years after the Britney Spears thing.

36:49When it happened, New York State has not changed any of their laws around guardianship.

36:54It's actually one of the strictest states in the country when it comes to guardianship.

36:58And the fact that a bank put a famous person in a guardianship because her

37:03son used her credit card too much and locked her out of her vast fortune

37:08is crazy. And I've heard, I don't know this, it's alleged, I've heard that she

37:16is having to spend for that health care facility that she's in, and it's upwards

37:20of like $15 ,000 a month where she doesn't even want to be and she

37:26has no choice whether she can stay there or not.

37:29It's truly crazy. The latest I heard from people that I kind of, I know

37:35people who know people around her, I don't, I've never met her, but I know

37:39people who worked on her show and actually one of the main people who worked

37:42on her show doesn't live very far from where I grew up in New York.

37:45The latest I heard is, you know, her very dearly beloved father passed away.

37:49He lived a very long life.

37:51She attended his funeral in Florida and that her lawyer, she's a powerhouse attorney, is

37:55demanding a jury trial if a judge doesn't refuse to terminate the guardianship.

38:00He keeps saying that the, you know, guardianship will be over any day now, but

38:03he's been saying since December, so who knows, but they're looking for a jury trial.

38:08trial. Um, and, uh, we'll see if that happens, but his comments that it'll happen,

38:14that it will end any day now as we want it for two months.

38:16So we'll see. Um, a jury trial will likely be next.

38:19I think that, I think that she probably shouldn't be on the cameras anymore.

38:23Um, cause she's not performing as she used to be.

38:26However, um, the guardianship is extreme.

38:30She's like in a place for like 80 year olds and she's a woman that

38:32was like maybe in her early sixties.

38:34All right. That's all I have today.
