2:35For those of you who may not have been aggressively following it, oil and gas

2:40down around $10 to $81.

2:43Stock market soaring. The Dow up nearly 1 ,000 points.

2:48S &P 500 setting an all -time high as optimism on the end of the

2:54Iran war and the Hormuz Strait being open continues to take charge of the markets.

3:02So, we bring in now someone who knows a little bit about the markets.

3:04I am told she is in Alaska.

3:06I enjoy reading her column in the Wall Street Journal.

3:09She is Kim Strassel of the Wall Street Journal.

3:12Tons of news from Trump early morning post.

3:16Kim, what's your take on where we are with Iran?

3:18Is Trump being overly ambitious, overly optimistic?

3:22Or do you think we're really at a place now where this conflict is close

3:26to being complete? Well, I think there's reason to believe we're in a more optimistic

3:31place than we have been.

3:33Mostly just because the Iranians, the last time around when they said, oh, well, we'll

3:37open the strait. Within minutes, it was clear that they were messing around.

3:41They weren't really going to do this.

3:43This sounds like it's more definite.

3:45We're going to have to watch.

3:47I mean, we all know the game they play, right, is to try to delay

3:51things, string things out, wear down the other side so that they can get right

3:55back to doing what they want to do.

3:57But I do think that this oil embargo that we have put, this ship embargo

4:02that we've put in, has changed the calculus.

4:05That economy is already under enormous stress.

4:08And we, by not allowing its ships out, are doing very rapid, very large damage

4:15to it. And at a certain point, it's going to face enormous uprest internally, which

4:20is, of course, what it really worries about.

4:24The blockade was a lot of people said that Iran had control of the Strait

4:29of Hormuz, even though they were really, as Buck said, just taking it hostage.

4:33And they were threatening that they might blow up any ship.

4:37As soon as we started the blockade, it feels like Iran just crumbled, both economically,

4:43as you just mentioned, but also even from a negotiation perspective, it feels like that

4:48was sort of the coup de grace from Trump.

4:50Maybe they didn't anticipate it, but it seems like an incredible play from a negotiating

4:54perspective. Well, just think about all the problems that they have with that.

4:59I mean, this is their only source, really, of revenue, their main source of revenue.

5:03It's also, for all that they export oil, they depend deeply on a number of

5:07imports, just like most countries do.

5:09And we are essentially starving them of that.

5:12Here's the other problem, too, is that at a certain point, Iran doesn't have a

5:16great deal of storage capacity for its oil in -country.

5:20And a lot of it was about 60 percent of it was already full.

5:23They're going to run out of the ability.

5:24to do anything with the oil they are pumping very rapidly, and that requires you

5:29to then shutter wells, and it becomes immensely difficult to reopen those once that happens.

5:36Also, a currency problem, massive currency problem within the country, massive inflation.

5:42And, you know, they don't like the idea of the United States giving them orders,

5:47but if the decision that they are making at the moment is, well, we can

5:51accept some orders from the United States, or we can lose control entirely, I think

5:56they're debating the lesser of those evils.

5:59Kim, Buck and I have been debating.

6:02In addition, we're talking about the midterms, obviously, but we're already looking ahead a little

6:06bit to 2028. Kamala has been speaking out quite a lot.

6:10Do you think that Kamala...

6:11Clay is a huge, huge Kamala fan, just so you understand, Kim.

6:15Huge Kamala fan, Clay Travis.

6:16Yeah, no, I do, I know.

6:17I listen, I got it.

6:18Do you think that Kamala will run?

6:20As you try and read some of these tea leaves and look ahead, not just

6:24to the midterms, but also to the 2028 campaign, what are Democrats going to do?

6:29And also, we'll get your take on, do you buy J .D.

6:32versus Marco as ever emerging?

6:35Do they run as a joint ticket?

6:36I know we're a ways out, but as Buck and I talk about, the day

6:39after the midterms, the 2028 political cycle is really fully go.

6:45What happens? How does this play out?

6:47So, on the Democratic side, of course she runs, okay?

6:51I mean, look, you're not in politics.

6:53You're not Kamala Harris, unless you're ambitious.

6:56And for all of the ridicule that we like to heap on her, if you

7:01look at the polls out there, simply because of name recognition and her prior position,

7:06she still begins essentially at the head of the pack.

7:09So, you can also see some of her movements.

7:12She puts out the book.

7:14She's been doing these tours.

7:15She's keeping in the public eye.

7:17She did pass on the California option.

7:19Some people were saying, oh, you should come in and sort out this completely messy

7:23primary field we have. She doesn't want to be governor of California.

7:27She's still got her eyes on the big prize.

7:30I don't think that once she gets in, we know for a fact just what

7:34a fantastic campaigner she is.

7:36By the way, that was a joke.

7:38She's going to have a lot of trouble.

7:40I mean, Kamala Harris next to Gavin Newsom, he's a whole lot smoother.

7:45But she has some other kind of built -in identity politics advantages as well, too.

7:49So, yeah, of course, I see her running.

7:51Now, if I'm wrong, I liked Buck's idea that we memory hold this whole conversation.

7:56But anyway, for now, that's what I'm going with.

7:59On the Republican side, I find this fascinating.

8:02J .D. Vance is out there all the time trying to remind everybody he's the

8:07heir apparent. Marco Rubio, by contrast, is just there every day with his head down

8:13trying to finish his work.

8:14And, you know, if you look, his stock is really rising, that kind of quiet

8:19approach, loyal to the president, get the president's agenda done.

8:24And so, you know, we'll see.

8:26I don't necessarily see a joint ticket, but I do think there's a long way

8:31to run between before we see how that little rivalry plays out in the long

8:36run. All right. Kim, I got to ask you, is there any way that the

8:40situation in Iran, you think, could go south in a hurry?

8:46Do you see anything? I've also been saying that the Iranians, they're masters at delay

8:52games. They're masters at finding ways to just stretch this out.

8:57And I do worry that that's where this could end up going.

9:00But that's not obviously a catastrophic thing.

9:03Is there any way that you think, though, that they can turn around what they

9:06currently face with the power dynamic over the strait and everything else?

9:09Or is this checkmate by Trump?

9:13It's never checkmate with Iran, I don't think.

9:16I agree with you. We've been watching these characters for 47 years.

9:20I was much more concerned about what you laid out a couple of weeks ago

9:23when Trump announced that ceasefire.

9:26That did seem as though there were major concessions that the United States was not

9:31getting and that we were being put into a delay loop where they were never

9:35going to give them. The fact that we decided to do this blockade and we

9:40have continued to say that the bombing will recommence unless you get to where we

9:45are. Now, it's all going to matter, though.

9:48Yes, it could go sell.

9:49We got to watch this.

9:50You know, this president also wants this done for political domestic reasons.

9:55And I get it. OK, it's and it's a very big tension there.

9:58And there are people within his administration that are very much advising him just to

10:02cut it off, take the win, even if they haven't got everything they want.

10:07It doesn't seem like he's there.

10:08The other thing that I worry about is, are they honest brokers?

10:12I mean, is there going to be a ship that goes through and is it

10:16going to come under attack?

10:17Is there going to be an explosion, a bomb, you know, a mine, something?

10:21Is this a fake head fake?

10:22We don't know. I mean, and there's can I can I just jump in there,

10:25Kim, just because I just just that to me, I mean, I describe this.

10:30It sounds like you've been tuning in to some of the chats with Clay on

10:33the air. So thank you for that.

10:34But I've described this as they don't control it, but they took it hostage or

10:38at least they claim to take it hostage.

10:40Of course, in hostage taking, they have to believe that you're actually pull the trigger,

10:43so to speak. That is the part of this that at least to this point,

10:47I have been surprised by.

10:50I always thought because otherwise, well, then why do we care?

10:52at all right if iran is unwilling now maybe some would argue it's it's so

10:56incapable of doing that now relative to what it would have been before the airstrikes

11:00that's another layer of this but if iran is unwilling to open fire on ships

11:06in the strait then what was the you know what was the threat from the

11:10beginning why were yeah they got then then you're right they're exposed as nothing so

11:18that to me is the concerning part because they might we're assuming right now or

11:23i shouldn't say assuming but right now it looks like trump is just saying they're

11:26not going to do anything because we're going to hit him well we've he has

11:29if he has called their bluff in this way it is just a waiting game

11:34where we get to sit there choose which ships go and which don't which means

11:38the iranian ships they're fully blockaded and they're just going to run out of money

11:43right but here's the other scary thing which i think follows on with you is

11:48you know it's it sounds wonderful one of the first things we did is obviously

11:52go in there and take out their leadership like the top 40 guys right but

11:56who's actually running things right now and are they on the same page and i

12:01think that's the other thing that's a big unknown here that's a little bit worrisome

12:06which is it you can have some of these parliamentary figures come out and say

12:10okay the strait is open is that actually the view of the dug -in militants

12:14who believe that their existential survival is at stake here and who operate much less

12:21in a rational fashion uh you know and they're not thinking real politic here they're

12:26thinking you know that they're going to do this out of religious fervor i think

12:30that's a really scary question yes well that's all it reminds me and a lot

12:35of people listening who were uh veterans of our war in iraq will remember the

12:41iranian move toward providing shia militias in iraq which were effectively iranian proxies although obviously

12:49this complicated that's a whole story unto itself but they were giving them these explosively

12:53formed penetrators iran figured out that they could mass manufacture these devices very very easily

13:01uh effectively in like garage bomb factories where they could punch through almost anything i

13:08mean maybe an abrams tank could stand up to them but i mean everything else

13:11was getting chewed up specifically to kill americans and that was something that had not

13:16been considered before on the battlefield so there was a a deviousness to the iranian

13:23uh certainly asymmetrical warfare and they just did that to kill americans right that was

13:27the there was they weren't going to take over iraq but they wanted to harm

13:30americans as much as they could for them to just allow the ships to go

13:34i'm that's the part of this that has really shocked me so i sit here

13:38saying oh okay all of our worries all this time about iran doing something to

13:44ships in the strait of hormuz seems to have been neutralized and if that is

13:48the case i don't see how they end up doing anything other than conceding at

13:52least my the the other the other problem here kim this is my last thing

13:56for you is they may concede to think about future concessions and i think that's

14:02where they get very slippery yeah no i i agree with that and then again

14:07to remember and to your point about how uh the tactics they've used in the

14:13past this is a this is a regime that has relied fundamentally for decades now

14:18on the use of proxies and and that has been very effective for iran you

14:23know whether you're talking about ones that are very organized like hezbollah or the houthis

14:28or hamas but it also raises the option or the possibility that you have proxies

14:34that ultimately you can't control right and so i just think it's really important that

14:39we are are watching not just what happens immediately in the strait but uh who

14:45emerges in the end of this as the actual spokesperson and how much we trust

14:49that they are in control because you can still have real hot spots emerging here

14:54or problems in the strait and they might not and they might be coming from

14:57actors that the regime as it were doesn't have control over but i agree with

15:03you if they're doing nothing this is this is an amazing turn of things she's

15:08my favorite columnist for the wall street journal she should be yours too go to

20:43So, you know, sometimes friends send me a story and they say, what do you

20:48think about this? And I say, I don't know anything about this.

20:52And then I feel like I have exposed a chink in my armor, if you

20:59will, because I'm supposed to know everything that goes on in the news.

21:04And that turns out to be not the case.

21:09And so, it was this story about a national, this story about a cluster of

21:17deaths and disappearances involving roughly 8 to 10 American scientists, researchers, and engineers, a high

21:26-ranking retired military official, all with ties to highly classified U .S.

21:32space, nuclear, aerospace, or defense programs.

21:36And people have said, what do you think about the disappearing scientists?

21:41Well, these are real documented incidents.

21:44They started in 2023. And they...

21:47They have increased a bit, and it certainly is something that is in the news

21:52now because Peter Doocy asked the president about it yesterday, and here is what the

22:00president said. Play one. Ten missing scientists with access to classified stuff, nuclear material, aerospace,

22:07they've all gone missing or turned up dead in the last couple months.

22:11Based on what you've been briefed, what do you think is happening here, and do

22:15you think that this is connected or totally random?

22:17Well, I hope it's random, but we're going to know in the next week and

22:21a half. I just left a meeting on that subject, so pretty serious stuff, but

22:25we're going to be not.

22:27Hopefully, I don't know, coincidence, whatever you want to call it, but some of them

22:32were very important people, and we're going to look at it over the next week.

22:36We'll probably have a pretty good answer over the next week.

22:41The president's looking into this, so this is being taken seriously.

22:45This is not some Internet conspiracy that is being pushed aside, and I have the

22:51list here of people who have died under strange, certainly sudden circumstances, and it's just,

23:04look, I don't, this is one of these things, I'll look more into it.

23:09I didn't even know about it until a few friends pinged me with it and

23:12said, hey, what do you think about this one?

23:13I said, I don't even know, and then I meant to talk about it earlier

23:16in the week, and then the president was asked about it yesterday, but when you

23:21read in on some of these cases, it seems very strange.

23:28You know, there was one woman disappeared while walking in New Mexico, phone left behind

23:32and wiped, still missing. Another guy was working with non -nuclear nuclear weapon components, disappeared

23:43from Albuquerque, still missing. Another guy, a plasma physics fusion energy expert, he was shot

23:55at his home in Massachusetts, and they're treating it, some are saying it was a

24:00homicide. I mean, there's just, there's definitely smoke here, friends, so we're going to track

24:05this down. Trump says he's going to track it down, so we are paying attention

24:08to it, but I don't have an answer.

24:10I just have an interest, and I promise we'll keep looking at this.

25:14Mehmet Oz. He is a CMS administrator under HHS.

25:18He is focused on what is going on in the world of health and the

25:23bureaucracy that is supposed to help with that.

25:27Dr. Oz, always a pleasure, sir.

25:29Thanks for making some time for us.

25:32The honor is mine. I tell you, these days, fraud, waste, and abuse, which is

25:36a massive affordability problem in our country, has gained a lot of attention.

25:40I think in part because the president has gotten so frustrated by the weak rules

25:45that were put in place over the last administration.

25:47Some of them worsened by COVID, which taught a lot of thugs, corrupt individuals that

25:53they could steal from the government and get away with it.

25:55So we are laser focused, as you know, with the vice president's task force and

25:59lots of other efforts. Well, you know, I saw this guy out in California.

26:03It was one medical practice, Doc, and you may have seen this one, too, where

26:08he was essentially just over, like, overbilling for medication.

26:14And they pulled off in California.

26:16They pulled off the guardrails within the system.

26:19So I think this guy was one clinic billed a few hundred million dollars of

26:24medicine that he was paid for, like, paid by a California state system.

26:30And I think part of it is the scale of one individual fraud like that

26:34within the medical system is pretty jaw -dropping.

26:37But also that it wasn't caught until years into the process or years later, I

26:44mean. So what is this task force doing now?

26:47I mean, how can you tell us that things are going to get cleaned up

26:52when there's so much to clean up that it feels like we're just swimming in

26:55fraud everywhere? Well, let's go back a second, because what you said is really important.

27:00You asked with some disbelief how it was possible for this guy to get away

27:04with it for so long.

27:05There's an implication in that question that this is a flaw in the system.

27:10What if it was a feature of the system?

27:12What if people wanted this to happen because there were...

27:15benefits of running a program where anybody wants to get into Medicaid can get on,

27:20that if you want to get someone to carry your groceries upstairs, someone will pay

27:24for it. And it turns out, unfortunately, there are merits to wanting that.

27:29Now, here's a couple examples.

27:30First off, if you go on public health insurance, we offer you at the same

27:35time a path for you to go to vote.

27:37So there's a voter recruitment element.

27:39That's by federal law, by the way.

27:41And then let's take advantage of the system by hiring people to do things you

27:45would not normally hire people to do.

27:47For example, things that your family would normally do for you if you don't feel

27:51well, like driving to the doctor's office or carry those groceries up the stairs.

27:55The number one job in New York State, the number one job is personal care

28:01services individuals, people like in your neighborhood helping you out, right?

28:05That sounds innocent, but the federal government is paying the tab on most of that.

28:10California, same thing. And how can it be the number one job in the state?

28:14And now we're finding out there are allegations that these guys are, these programs are

28:19growing because there's foreign involvement, so it's professionalized.

28:22And then we find out that the unions are maybe getting involved and try to

28:26unionize these individuals. So this starts to smell more like it's political patronage.

28:30And I bring that up because if you're asking me what possible ways is there

28:34for us to fix this, imagine that it's 2024, we're getting ready for the election,

28:39and someone says millions and in fact, tens of millions of people have come across

28:43the border, how can you possibly fix it?

28:46And within months of the president coming in, we've cut it down by over 99%.

28:50Why? We wanted to. We can fix fraud in America, we just have to want

28:55to do it. So you ask about that doctor in California.

28:58There's right now in the country, one third of all of the hospices, one third

29:04of all hospices in the entire country are in Los Angeles.

29:07I mean, how many people are dying there?

29:10How's that possible? Right? One third are there because the local government didn't want to

29:15deal with the issue and everyone's making money.

29:18So they sort of let it slide.

29:19Now we just in the last 10 weeks, just in the last 10 weeks, have

29:24shut down over 400 hospices in California from billing us.

29:29They're no longer allowed to bill us.

29:30We've, we've, we've, we've made that, you know, shut, shut the cash register off.

29:36No money's leaving the building here in Washington.

29:38Guess how many have complained to me of those 400 hospices who are suspended?

29:42Zero. Not one of those hospices that we've suspended has reached out.

29:47Why? Well, the implication is they're guilty because if I stop paying you for coming

29:51on the show every day, you'd probably raise hell, right?

29:54You'd come back and say you're paying my money.

29:55These guys aren't complaining because they finally got caught.

29:59So, so I, I gotta ask you this and the doc, I'm glad you're on

30:03it. And I know JD as the vice president is looking at this too, because

30:06you know, it's, it goes beyond, there's the waste of the dollars, which is the

30:10thing, but there's also the lack of faith in the system and the system being

30:13serious and fair. And I think Elon and Doge really also highlighted this for a

30:17lot of people. Like, why am I paying my taxes?

30:20Why am I my subject to the rules?

30:22If the rules can be so flagrantly violated, but as another part of this though,

30:26just in the, in the waste side of it, more of the waste side than

30:29the fraud side, New York's Medicaid alone budget is I'm looking here on my, on

30:36my screen, pulled it up.

30:38It was $84 billion in 2022, the state of Florida's entire budget, the state of

30:46Florida, which has more people than New York is $117 billion, give or take.

30:52What is a state like New York spending all of these dollars for Medicaid on?

30:58How do you spend almost the same thing as the budget of a, of a

31:03state with 21 million people on just a Medicaid program in New York?

31:07Where's his money going? They're not paying attention to the cash register and folks are

31:14able to lobby them to take money out of it.

31:16And that ends up becoming a major crisis for the state.

31:20See the problem here, and you point out the, the, the, the major issue is

31:24if, if you're getting the system defrauded, and these are the precious safe net systems

31:29of our country. Medicaid is the payer of last resort.

31:32When you've lost everything, Medicaid, our program comes and rescues you.

31:36Medicare is the program for our seniors.

31:38If we defraud those programs, people lose confidence in them.

31:41But here's the unfortunate reality.

31:43If you're a scumbag that's willing to steal money from our most vulnerable, you will

31:47steal their health. You'll steal their life.

31:49And so we hurt the programs themselves.

31:53They lose their reputations. Taxpayers don't want to contribute.

31:56Folks lose confidence that you're actually providing high quality care and you're hurting people all

32:00at the same time because they're not paying attention.

32:02And you mentioned New York state where it's basically a jobs program, right?

32:06Most of the new jobs being created are in healthcare.

32:08So they've actually completely flipped the economic engine of the sit of the state upside

32:12down, but it's not sustainable.

32:13You've got to pay people to help other people in healthcare, but only pay them

32:18when they're doing that. And if you're not willing to do your job, then move

32:21out and let someone else do it.

32:24Yeah, it's, it's critical that these reforms are enacted and that there's real accountability for

32:30this. We're speaking to Dr.

32:31Mehmet Oz. Dr. Oz, let's talk about some of the, you know, because this is

32:35an audience of patriots who pay their taxes and obey the laws.

32:38So we know you're looking at the fraudsters out there and that's good.

32:42What are things that you're worried about?

32:43working on to improve people's health, to help people out there, to use the programs.

32:48You have a vast budget, right?

32:49I mean, you're overseeing a massive entity.

32:52What are some of the good things that are underway, whether to make it more

32:56efficient for, say, Medicare, for seniors, or improving care or anything?

33:00You know, give us the highlight reel of where the dollars are being used properly.

33:06Well, we've been blessed to have an incredible treasure trove of talented individuals come in

33:11the government is a generational opportunity to deliver what you just mentioned, which is improve

33:16the quality of care. And just to put some numbers on this, if we can

33:19get the average American to be healthier, to feel so darn good, so focused on

33:23living their full life that they want to work just one year longer, that's worth

33:27a trillion dollars to the U .S.

33:30economy every year. So it's a huge investment return if we're actually able to deliver.

33:35So Secretary Kennedy, who just upstairs from me, where I am in the Health and

33:39Human Services building here in Washington, is big on Maha for a good reason.

33:43Because if we can get the American people to take some preventive steps and nudge

33:47them along in this process, as they get healthier, we'll save money because 80 %

33:52of the money we spend in health care in America is for chronic illnesses.

33:55So why not just make you healthier in the beginning?

33:57If we make it easier for you to be healthy, you'll become healthier.

34:00So we've got every major tech company now, for the first time participating, building tools

34:10them, and say, hey, here's the five things you ought to do to make your

34:13life better. And by the way, stop eating that.

34:25AI will also give us better access to care because a lot of parts of

34:29the country, rural America is a good example, where we have now poured $50 billion

34:33more into care. That's 50 % more than we normally spend on rural health care

34:39for Medicaid. All that money is being put in there to reform the system, to

34:43right -size the system, and bringing technology to these areas will give, especially, for example,

34:48our vets and others in rural America who want mental health services to access them.

34:52We can actually get you the tools that you'll need.

34:55And I am very optimistic about the ability to use AI and robotics, by the

35:00way, correctly in many parts of the country, because we're going to be able to

35:03put guardrails around them. But I do say, without question, that we all got to

35:07be focused on it, because if we don't do it the right way, these tools

35:10could be used against us.

35:12Of course, being a doctor, man, Oz, he's the administrator for Medicare and Medicaid services

35:16under HHS, which sounds like, what is that first?

35:21Oh, that's right. The giant program that deals with Medicare, Medicaid, enormous parts of the

35:26federal budget. So this stuff is really important and really affects our bottom line as

35:31a country, but it also affects our health as a country.

35:33To that end, you were going towards some lifestyle things, lifestyle interventions.

35:38Elon Musk, I'll just put it out there.

35:39He said that he believes that one of the greatest things that could be done

35:43for public health in America, and I know he's not a doctor, but he's a

35:46pretty smart guy, would be expanding access to GLP medications and helping people get down

35:54to a healthy weight. These drugs are, I have many friends who have taken them.

35:59I know many people who are on them.

36:01I have family members who have taken them, and they say that they're near miracle

36:06drugs and have changed their lives for the better in dramatic ways.

36:10So talk to me about where CMS comes in here, expanding access to those medications,

36:15helping with lifestyle programs, because the obesity epidemic, by the numbers, was one of the

36:21biggest drivers of health care costs in this country in recent decades.

36:24And it looks like we have a very potent tool to turn that curve down

36:28in the other direction. Which is why, under instructions from the president, we have negotiated

36:38Now, we did it for a couple of reasons, and just to put it on

36:56The drug prices in America need to be the same prices as they are in

37:02And by the way, 16 other major drug companies as well have come into this

37:07area. And these companies, the two big ones that make the GLP -1 drugs, are

37:11now selling them at a fraction of the price that they were selling them for

37:15even a year ago, so much so that we are giving seniors in America access

37:19to these drugs for a very de minimis co -pay.

37:22Why do we do this?

37:23And why are we making it easy to buy these drugs on trumprx .gov?
