Trump Goes Psycho Over House War Vote!!
3/5/202626 mincomplete
0:00On this, the yeas are 47, the nays are 53.
0:03The motion to discharge is not approved.
0:07What you just witnessed there was the result of Donald Trump ordering the United States
0:13Senate, the MAGA Republicans in the United States Senate, along with John Fetterman, Democratic Senator
0:20from Pennsylvania, to vote against a war powers resolution which would block Donald Trump's unlawful
0:28war against Iran. So you saw right there, the Senate actually voted against this critical
0:34war powers resolution, and now it goes to the House of Representatives where a vote
0:40takes place today. I want to discuss how important this is still, but in the
0:44Senate, the vote was 47 to 53.
0:47You had Republican Rand Paul voting with the Democrats on the 47 side.
0:53John Fetterman voted with the Republicans on that 53, voting against the war powers resolution
1:00with the MAGA Republicans in the Senate and Fetterman giving up their role in Congress
1:07to block Donald Trump's unlawful war.
1:11Absolutely pathetic. So now it goes to the House of Representatives, but this is very
1:16important. Even though the Senate voted against it, it is critical that we see where
1:21all the Democrats stand, we see where all the Republicans stand when it comes to
1:26this unlawful war, because this is a deeply, deeply unpopular war.
1:32How unpopular is it? Well, just think about this fact right here.
1:36The Iraq war started with an approval rating of 70%.
1:41The lowest it ever hit was 42%.
1:44Just think about that staggering fact.
1:46This war right now started with an approval of 41%.
1:51Just think about that. And you have all the MAGA Republicans who are out there
1:57saying, whatever the war started.
2:00So since it started, it would be unpatriotic for us to stop it.
2:04Now they're literally using that line like Susan Collins, who got that order from Donald
2:10Trump. And by the way, she's running for reelection in that Senate seat in Maine.
2:15Remember that Maine. Here's what she said.
2:18She was very concerned about all of this.
2:21She said, passing this resolution, the war powers resolution to block Donald Trump's unlawful war.
2:27She says it would send the wrong message to Iran and to our troops at
2:32this juncture, providing unequivocal support to our service members is critically important as is ongoing
2:39consultation by the administration with Congress.
2:42Now, Graham Plattner, Democratic candidate for Senate in Maine, also a veteran, said the following.
2:49Well, what else can we do but support the war?
2:52Are we really doing this already?
2:54This thing just effing started.
2:57This is the worst version of why we stayed in Iraq for so long, for
3:01the dumbest reasons and being done by the same people who clearly have learned nothing.
3:07And as Donald Trump panics, this is what he's ordering MAGA Republicans to do.
3:12Block the war powers resolution vote.
3:15The war powers resolution vote is critical.
3:18And frankly, we shouldn't even need a war powers resolution because only Congress has the
3:23power to declare war, not the executive branch.
3:27The executive branch needs to seek the authorization of Congress.
3:30It's in our damn constitution.
3:32But now, of course, the MAGA Republicans got their message from the Trump regime.
3:38And it's just out of Putin's playbook.
3:40Don't call it a war.
3:42Just call it a special military operation.
3:45That's all you have to do.
3:46And that's what the MAGA Republican sycophants are doing.
3:50Like MAGA Republican Congress member Mike Flood.
3:53Before the vote that's taking place today on the war powers resolution, Mike Flood says
3:59it's not a war. It's a significant military operation.
4:03Here, play this clip. This war.
4:05Well, I think the president has the authority.
4:08Would you consider it a war?
4:10It's a significant military operation.
4:13What about what MAGA Mike Johnson is saying?
4:16Well, MAGA Mike Johnson got the order for Donald Trump to tell all of the
4:20MAGAs in Congress that you will get politically rewarded here by voting against the war
4:27powers resolution. The American people want this war, MAGA Mike says, because that's what Donald
4:34Trump's telling everybody. Here, play this clip.
4:37I trust the American people.
4:38I trust that they will evaluate all these things and they will understand that this
4:42administration did the right thing.
4:44I think they'll reward it politically.
4:45But if if if people get a bad taste in their mouth for what happened
4:48back here in the first part of the year in Iran, they just do.
4:51But we we know and history will record we did the right thing.
4:54I think passage of a war powers resolution right now would be a terrible, dangerous
4:59idea for all the reasons I've just explained.
5:01It would empower our enemies.
5:03It would kneecap our own forces and it would take the ability of the U
5:06.S. military and the commander in chief away from completing this critical mission.
5:11and to keep everybody safe.
5:13Not only is MAGA Mike willing to vote against the War Powers Resolution and demand
5:18that MAGA Republicans in Congress be in lockstep with it, MAGA Mike is ready to
5:24start taking all of our taxpayer dollars immediately and giving it to supplemental assistance, supplemental
5:34for the war. Congress will pass a war funding supplemental when appropriate.
5:40At least, what, $50 billion is what we're hearing to provide additional funding for this
5:47war. That money could have gone to health care.
5:50That money could have gone to affordable housing.
5:53That money could have gone to numerous other things that actually would help the American
5:58people. But now it's going to help us build more munitions for the war in
6:04Iran, which is an absolute disaster right now as more service members are being killed.
6:09That's what they're doing. I'll bring you to the House floor where there was debate
6:13about the War Powers Resolution.
6:15Let me show you what the Democrats are saying, because I echo a lot of
6:19their sentiments right here, not because they're Democrats saying it, but because I don't believe
6:24in regime change wars without plans.
6:27I don't believe in sending our soldiers out there to Iran like that without any
6:32defined mission. I don't like it.
6:35I despise it. It's again, it's unconstitutional.
6:38It's unlawful. Well, here's what Democratic Congress member Castro has to say.
6:42Play this clip. Why now?
6:44Well, Secretary Rubio told us himself.
6:46He said that Israel was going to strike Iran, which would have triggered Iranian strikes
6:51on U .S. forces in the region.
6:53But rather than pick up the phone and tell Benjamin Netanyahu to stand down, the
6:58president of the United States buckled and decided to join their war.
7:03How is this America first?
7:06For 25 years, a generation of American service members and their families have sacrificed so
7:13much because of regime change wars in the Middle East.
7:17President Trump is now asking yet another generation of Americans to sacrifice in the hope
7:23that this time it will go differently than Iraq, Afghanistan or Libya.
7:28This is Donald Trump's war.
7:30This is Benjamin Netanyahu's war.
7:33Your vote today will determine whether this is your war, too.
7:37I urge you to support this resolution.
7:40Powerful words indeed. What about Democratic Congress member McGovern?
7:44Play this clip. Mr. Speaker, nobody is defending the Ayatollah.
7:48There is no love lost for a brutal government that sponsors terror and murders their
7:52people. Iran has been doing this for decades.
7:55Everybody knows that. And so my question is this.
7:58Why wasn't Donald Trump in favor of regime change until this weekend?
8:02Why did he campaign on swearing he would never send American kids to fight and
8:07die in the Middle East?
8:09Republicans can't answer because they were against war with Iran until exactly the second Donald
8:15Trump decided to go to war.
8:17And now they're all running around sounding like neocon lunatics.
8:21America can't take this level of gaslighting.
8:24I went to the classified briefing.
8:26There was no imminent threat.
8:28I guess unless Republicans want to redefine the word imminent to mean stretching back 47
8:34years. This whole thing is just so transparently built on lies.
8:40Republicans went from imminent threat to regime change to nukes back to imminent threat in
8:45the last 24 hours. I'll tell you.
8:47I'll tell you what this is, Mr.
8:49Speaker. This is Iraq 2 .0.
8:51I still remember the lies about WMDs.
8:54I voted against that war, too.
8:56At least George Bush had the decency to lie to people's face.
9:00And by the way, no congressional vote can legitimize this because there was no imminent
9:05threat. There was no U .N.
9:06Security Council resolution. So this war is illegal, no matter what you want to call
9:11it. And it's not Donald Trump's kids that will have to go fight and die
9:15for their draft dodging dad.
9:17It's not the children of billion of the billionaire Epstein class.
9:21It's working class kids who are going to put their lives on the line.
9:25Shame on Republicans. I'm sick of this B .S.
9:28We're spending billions of dollars a day on a war and we can't even get
9:32Republicans to join us to expand health care in America.
9:35How the hell is this America first?
9:37You guys broke your top campaign promise.
9:40Good luck with that. I hope the defense contractor money was worth it.
9:45Shame on you all. The mask is off.
9:48You're all just a bunch of times expired.
9:52And I'll give credit where credit's due to Republicans.
9:55Thomas Massey clearly articulating why this war is unlawful, as well as the all of
10:03the lies that this regime has been selling.
10:05Let's play this clip. And for what this administration can't even give us a straight
10:10answer as to why we launched this preemptive war.
10:14The president says we had to strike first because an Iranian strike was imminent.
10:18Meanwhile, the Department of Defense conceded there was no evidence of an imminent Iranian strike.
10:24Some told us this war was about nuclear weapons.
10:28But six months ago, we were assured our last strike on Iran decimated their nuclear
10:33program. So which is it?
10:35I think the most candid answer came from the Secretary of State.
10:39who told the press that Israel forced our hand and dragged us into this war
10:45again. And that truth is the very reason why it is Congress that must decide
10:52war. If American lives are to be risked and American blood is to be shed,
10:56that decision must be debated and voted on by the representatives of the American people.
11:01And that debate is meant to be arduous.
11:04And that vote is meant to be hard.
11:06I have a theory. I think my colleagues don't want to go on record because
11:12we have a terrible track record of meddling in the Middle East.
11:16They don't want their name associated with this when it doesn't turn out well.
11:21But Congress cannot be bothered with its constitutional duty because for many in this chamber,
11:27it's easier to simply allow someone else's sons and daughters to be sent to combat
11:32without their vote. And to be clear, we aren't even here to declare war today.
11:37All we're voting on is a war powers resolution to reassert the Constitution that Congress
11:42must decide questions of war.
11:44And if Congress wants war, then the speaker should hold a vote to declare it.

13:36Message and data rates may apply.
13:38See terms for details. And you know Democratic Congress member Raskin is going to step
13:42in and make some great points here.
13:44Let's play this clip. I think the speaker and the ranking member, yes, use all
13:49lawful and constitutional means. I heard one of our colleagues across the aisle just say,
13:55well, yes, Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11 does give Congress the exclusive, plenary, comprehensive
14:02power to declare war. And not the president, and we could be debating it, but
14:06the president's already taken us to war, so it's too late.
14:10It would undermine the cause for us to debate it.
14:13What a humiliating, self -defeating argument for a member of the Article 1 branch of
14:18Congress to be making. Don't you understand that destroys our power to declare war?
14:24If any president can plunge us into a war and thereby defeat our exclusive plenary
14:31power over it. The framers weren't fooling around when they did that.
14:35They knew that the kings were constantly plunging their people into wars of deception, conceit,
14:42plunder, imperial avarice, fantasy. Constantly the kings were doing that.
14:48They didn't want to leave it up to one person to decide whether or not
14:51to send a whole country into war and to put our sons and daughters at
14:55risk. That is an awesome, solemn responsibility that must be vested in the representatives of
15:01the people, all the people, which is why both the House and the Senate are
15:06involved in it. So whether you think this war is the most brilliant strategic breakthrough
15:13and moral cause since World War II, or you think it's an absolute strategic blunder
15:19built on lies like the last wars in Iraq or the war in Afghanistan, which
15:26cost thousands of lives and more than a trillion dollars, wherever you are on that
15:31policy question, can we not agree as members of the Article I branch that it's
15:36up to us? We've got to vote on it.
15:38We've got to debate on it.
15:40I'm hearing very interesting, good arguments all over the spectrum on this.
15:45That's why it's reposed in the representatives of the people to decide it.
15:50Not Donald Trump, not J .D.
15:51Vance, not Tulsi Gabbard or anybody else in the executive branch.
15:55It's our decision. Everybody should be voting yes on this resolution.
16:00Now back to Republican Congressmember Massey.
16:02Let's play it. The 1973 War Powers Resolution states plainly that the president...
16:07may only introduce U .S.
16:10armed forces into hostilities pursuant to three conditions.
16:14Either one, declaration of war, two, specific statutory authorization, or three, a national emergency created
16:23by an attack upon the United States.
16:25None of those conditions exist today.
16:28Iran has not attacked the United States, Congress has not declared war, and Congress has
16:32not granted specific statutory authorization.
16:37Beyond the constitutional question, here lies an even more important one.
16:41Why are we going to war with Iran?
16:44We owe our military service members a clear mission.
16:48And American families in my district want to know how this is going to help
16:53them pay for groceries. How does this make them any safer in their schools or
16:58in their neighborhoods? How does this help them pay for housing?
17:01Have we learned nothing from the laundry list of wars and regime change experiments we
17:06sparked across the Middle East that have racked up a total of at least eight
17:10trillion dollars of debt in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan?
17:15A sustained war with Iran will not stabilize the region.
17:19It's already ignited the region.
17:22It will radicalize new generations of terrorists, and it will send more swarms of refugees
17:27into Europe and the United States.
17:29More from Massey right here.
17:31Let's play it. And it will send more swarms of refugees into Europe and the
17:36United States. Iran is not Venezuela.
17:39The Ayatollah was not a president.
17:41He was a religious leader from a region notorious for radical Islamists.
17:46And the United States and Israel turned him into a martyr.
17:50And in the process of doing so, we've already expended billions of dollars and more
17:55solemnly, six American families must now lay to rest their sons and daughters.
18:00And for what? This administration can't even give us a straight answer as to why
18:05we launched this preemptive war.
18:07And here's what Graham Plattner, again, a veteran, he says, here's what he has to
18:12say. And he goes, he's running for the Senate seat in Maine, as you know,
18:16against Susan Collins. And he's like, you know what?
18:18We need an entirely new war powers resolution, frankly, a new war powers act rather,
18:24which automatically all of these wars should be declared unlawful before they even start.
18:34We should just be able to declare it unlawful unless you get Congress's approval.
18:38Play this quote. We need a truly reformed war powers act where we really pull
18:44the power back. No more 48 hours of combat operations where you have to notify
18:49Congress. No more 60 days of combat operations before you have to prove to Congress
18:55that you should have gone to war in the first place.
18:57No. Ain't a warranty. We need to know why military force is used right off
19:02the bat. And it needs to be approved by Congress right off the bat.
19:08Now, here's what Democratic Senator Adam Schiff had to say on TV.
19:12Let's play it. Senator, you were you joined all but one of your Democratic colleagues
19:16today in voting for a war powers resolution that would have constrained the president's war
19:23on Iran that he's launched.
19:25All the Republicans, save for Rand Paul, voted against it.
19:29Rand Paul voting with Democrats.
19:30John Fetterman voting with Republicans.
19:32Why did you vote that way today?
19:35Well, I introduced the resolution along with Tim Kaine, Senator Schumer and Rand Paul for
19:40the reason that we shouldn't be in this war, number one.
19:44This is a war that was not brought on by any imminent threat from Iran.
19:48We've heard all kinds of varying explanations for why Rubio says we were threatened.
19:53He says it's because Israel was going to attack and they would attack us, Iran,
19:58that is, if Israel attacked.
19:59And then the president says, no, that wasn't it at all.
20:02And then you hear Pete Heggs say something different.
20:04And Whitcoff say, no, this was about them potentially getting the bomb.
20:08They can't explain why we're at war.
20:10So first and foremost, to to stop this war of choice.
20:14But second, because constitutionally, this is unlawful.
20:18You can't commit the nation to war without seeking the approval of Congress.
20:22It's one of the most important powers that we have.
20:25It has atrophied. And if we're going to allow a war like this to go
20:28on where we've already lost U .S.
20:30service members and essentially not make a peep about it in Congress, then we're telling
20:35this president and any future president, you can make war whenever you want, wherever you
20:40want, for whatever reason you want.
20:42And Congress will not step in to put any constraint on you.
20:46So that's just dangerous to the American people and to our troops.
20:50And I agree also here with Democratic Senator Mark Kelly.
20:53I've said this on the show before.
20:54You've heard me say it, which is you can literally pick a random group of
20:58people in Washington, D .C.
21:00or anywhere, and they would do a much better job than the Trump regime, like
21:05way better than what because this Trump regime is compounding the worst decisions and making
21:12it worse based on Donald Trump's malicious and demented pathology.
21:17It's like they he instantly gravitates to the worst possible decision making and then makes
21:25it catastrophic. And then just this is why he's bankrupted everything in his life.
21:30Most most of the companies he's run, he's bankrupted because this is.
21:34what this demented individual does.
21:37Here, play this clip of Senator Kelly.
21:39You could pick a random group of people off the street tonight here in Washington,
21:45D .C., just a random group, and they could probably do a better job than
21:49our government is doing right now with this.
21:52They don't have a goal.
21:54There's no strategic plan. There's no timeline.
21:57And what this is likely to lead to is, again, a long war with a
22:03lot of dead Americans. And no rationale for how this is helping the American people.
22:08And as Donald Trump's chief propagandist, Caroline Leavitt, was saying today, why did Donald Trump
22:15order the military to strike when it did?
22:18Why did that happen? Well, he had a good feeling.
22:22Just his feels, yo. He had a good feeling.
22:25You know, those feels. Couldn't tell the American people what the feeling was, backed up
22:30by facts. But, you know, he had a feeling.
22:32The feeling that Israel was going to attack Iran first, and Iran would then attack
22:38the United States. So we had to attack first for Israel.
22:42That's the move. Here, play this clip.
22:45How important was that information in the president making the decision to strike where and
22:49when he did? I think it was important with respect to the timeline.
22:53But I think the president, prior to that phone call, had a good feeling that
22:57the Iranian regime was going to strike United States assets and our personnel in the
23:02region. And then you have other MAGA senators like Ron Johnson from Wisconsin, and he's
23:08out there saying, you know what?
23:09This is an opportunity. An opportunity for geopolitical change.
23:16Isn't that what you want in America?
23:18Oh, healthcare? No. What, you want education?
23:23No. You want housing? No.
23:26You want things to be more affordable?
23:28No. Oh, you want geopolitical change?
23:32Well, I'll tell you what, Ron Johnson from Wisconsin.
23:35The geopolitical change going down right now is crippling America's strength, weakening America's power, if
23:43not obliterating it in the world.
23:44This does not make us look strong.
23:46This makes us look weak and pathetic.
23:50And right now, we've never actually looked weak right away.
23:55Here's what Johnson says. Let's play it.
23:56Because of what is happening now in Iran is more serious.
24:01So we're more vulnerable because Biden left the border open, and they still hold up
24:06DHS funding. And on the issue of Iran, Senator, the Senate failed to pass Senator
24:12Kaine's war powers resolution. You voted against it.
24:15Senator Paul was the only Republican who voted for it.
24:18But explain your decision on this, because there are, you know, there are many in
24:23MAGA land, I think still, who are either not supportive of this war, are worried
24:29about what this will do to the Trump agenda, or flat out think we have
24:34no right to go in there.
24:37Iran has been at war with America for 47 years.
24:40It's responsible. It has the blood on the hands of thousands of American soldiers, American
24:45citizens. They've been a menace.
24:46This is an opportunity. It's not risk -free.
24:49It's not guaranteed. But this is an opportunity to change geopolitics for the better, the
24:56best opportunity in my lifetime.
24:58So I hope for success.
25:00I support the president in a tough decision.
25:02Again, there's nothing guaranteed about this.
25:04You know, the IRGC has 200 ,000 members.
25:07They've got the security forces, 600 ,000.
25:09It's encouraging the Kurds are coming down and hopefully providing some support for the Iranian
25:14people. But this is a real opportunity.
25:17And I've just got to support the president from this, you know, in this tough
25:21decision. There you have it, folks.
