2:57Welcome, everybody, to the Friday edition of the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.
3:03We have some big breaking news that we're going to dive into here.
3:08Mr. Clay, break it down for everybody.
3:15Ah, well, here's the situation.
3:17We have a pilot, or pilots rather, who are downed, and we are looking for
3:25them right now. We don't know exactly the situation.
3:29We don't know what is happening in Iran at this very moment.
3:34We know there's a search and rescue operation underway.
3:39And we have a very, obviously, nervous nation wondering what is going on.
3:47And I had to run up a flight of stairs really quickly.
3:49So, usually, Clay would be able to help me out.
3:55But right now, apparently, you are off the air, Clay?
3:58Is that what's going on?
3:59I think, is my mic working now?
4:00There we go. Now, there he is.
4:03There we go. Leaving me high and dry there for a second.
4:06Why don't you talk while I catch my breath?
4:08There is. I mean, this is very serious here as we come into Easter weekend.
4:13We have got a F -15 that has been shot down in Iran that nobody
4:20has any real updates on other than there are a lot of people trying to,
4:27as you would well imagine, track down these two pilots, I believe, is the report
4:33so far. Iran is doing everything they can, certainly, to take these pilots in as
4:39hostages. And the United States is doing everything we can to try to find these
4:44individuals and bring them home safely.
4:47So, we don't know a lot of other details about that, except the search is
4:51underway. I hope, Buck, that we will have some resolution in a positive way before
4:58this program is over today, but that is probably the biggest, by far, news story
5:03coming out of Iran, much less significantly in terms of life or death in the
5:09short term. We had a great report on jobs, and we saw a huge amount
5:16of new jobs out there.
5:18And I actually flagged this, Buck, which I thought was super interesting, that we have
5:24hit the lowest. number of federal employees since 1966 in this country as part of
5:32the doge cuts i know there's a lot of frustration about what exactly happened and
5:36how the doge cuts were applied but we have now ended up with the fewest
5:41federal employees going all the way back to 1966 and on top of that we
5:48added 178 000 new jobs in march which shattered uh the expectations of all the
5:55economists out there and drove down the unemployment rate to 4 .3 percent let me
6:00hit a couple of those news stories here cut one the u .s economy adding
6:04nearly 200 000 new jobs unexpectedly 178 000 to be exact the expectation was what
6:1260 000 jobs and it's 178 wow yeah uh look the job market bounced back
6:18in a big way in march and that is good news really blowing away expectations
6:23uh also the director of national economic council kevin hassett said this is an absolute
6:30blockbuster number a sign that the economy is going really well as we enter into
6:37the spring cycle cut to this is an absolute blockbuster number it's one of the
6:42best numbers that you've seen in a long time and what it shows is that
6:47all of the cumulative policies that president trump has pushed the no tax on tips
6:51no tax on overtimes making the trump old trump tax cuts permanent deregulation 18 trillion
6:58dollars in new investments in the u .s through our trade deals all of that
7:03stuff plus a big reduction in the trade deficit has created enormous amount of momentum
7:07uh for the u .s economy and so uh that momentum cannot be upended by
7:12a temporary uh middle east scurbish okay okay so very positive there uh as we
7:20are coming into the spring hiring season um i i would just say buck stock
7:26market has stabilized with iran uh oil and gas seems to be moving through the
7:31straight of hormuz not at the level in which it was before but at a
7:35much higher level than it was only a few weeks ago i know that overall
7:39price of oil and gas has gone up because it is a global commodity but
7:43there is no actual shortage and given the fact that the united states is energy
7:47independent a lot of those dollars are staying in the country in a way that
7:51they would not have been in years past uh but the overall trend lines um
7:57i think as we come into this easter holiday weekend very good on the economy
8:01in general based on those hiring numbers that's absolutely true i think the economy continues
8:08to be a place where you know it's going well because if it wasn't the
8:12anti -trump media would be talking about it every five seconds it would be their
8:16single biggest focus uh by far and we'd be hearing a lot about how trumponomics
8:22is a failure or trumponomics is hurting the middle class or whatever it may be
8:26they can't even come up with ways to spin these metrics so that it looks
8:32like trump does not know what he's doing but we also have some updates clay
8:36i know you're a space guy on the artemis uh launch which i think has
8:39gotten a lot of attention for people from people all over the u .s and
8:43really around the world and then some follow -up to the uh pam bondi firing
8:48as well more details on all of that and you're even starting to see maybe
8:53we'll get into this in the third hour uh the first lady of california uh
8:58yes jennifer newsome gavin newsome's wife gavin's got a problem uh which is that she
9:05is not going to be i think particularly helpful if he's trying to connect with
9:08the heartland uh so we'll get into all we'll get into all of that but
9:12uh yeah in the meantime clay it's still very much just on everyone's mind i
9:16think that the um uh the pilots are are right now behind enemy lines and
9:23this f -15e that has been they're saying i've heard both shot down brought down
9:29mechanical failure you know meaning uh or could have come down because of mechanical failure
9:33do we have team can we make sure we check on that uh just up
9:37to the minute right before we went on air fox was reporting that it was
9:40a downed plane but not necessarily shot down but the wall street journal saying shot
9:45down there is a obviously a big difference sometimes a plane will malfunction as expensive
9:50and advanced as these planes are so let's get uh that assessment also we don't
9:55know the status of the airmen who were down but i think clay also and
10:00i heard this um in in one of the uh in some of the news
10:03coverage people saying well this and they don't really know what to call the situation
10:09this is a war we've been saying it's a war when you are blowing up
10:13using your military to blow up another nation's military it's a war and it's dangerous
10:19stuff and it's deadly serious and even with our superiority in military terms we have
10:26people in harm's way we have lost people already to enemy fire so this you
10:32know this is a war i think everyone needs to just call it what it
10:35is i've heard uh incursion you know excursion uh you know aerial campaign um this
10:43is a war people are dying and you can be all in favor of this
10:48action behind the trump administration but just understand that this this this is a war
10:52people are dying and you can be all in favor and you can be all
10:52in favor and you can be all in favor and you can be all in
10:52favor and you can be all in favor and you can be all in favor
10:52and you can be all in favor and you can be all in favor and
10:52you can be all in favor and you can be all in favor and you
10:52can be all in favor and you can be all in favor and you can
10:52be all in favor and you can be all in favor and you can be
10:52all in favor and you can be all in favor and you can be all
10:52in favor and you can be all in favor and you can be all in
10:52favor and you can be all in favor and you can be all in favor
10:52and you can be all in favor and you can be all in favor and
10:52you can be all in favor and you can be all in favor and you
10:52can be all in favor and you can be all in favor and you can
10:52be all in favor and you can be all in favor and you can be
10:52all in favor and you can be is real and and this thing can change
10:54in a heartbeat and we can feel like you know all of a sudden it's
10:58all brought home to us yeah i think in general there's a lot of dancing
11:03around the verbiage because of congresses and not being involved in declaring a war and
11:11this goes into the war powers act and everything else so trump has kind of
11:14danced around the language uh but it's clear we're in an armed conflict it's a
11:19war with whatever you want to officially call it um and uh like you've probably
11:24been involved in i was just gonna a war is a violent prolonged conflict between
11:29organized groups typically nation states this is a war so just to be clear this
11:34is a war what do you think in terms of the extraction efforts that are
11:40going on right now i would think this is by far the number one priority
11:45of everything that's going on in the middle east um how we know that these
11:50these airplanes are very easy to track um i would be curious if we've got
11:55people out in the audience right now who may have been involved in extractions before
12:00in fact i bet we probably do have some of those people given the fact
12:03we can open up phone lines 800 -282 -2882 if you guys could let us
12:09know i would be curious buck in general i would presume that these soldiers have
12:15some sort of beacon that they are able to uh to turn on when they
12:20hit the ground the jet obviously is likely to have ended up a substantial distance
12:25from where they are and then to what extent are they able to find uh
12:30first of all can they land safely when they eject themselves and we hope that
12:34they did secondly to what extent can they protect themselves are they are they uh
12:39safe and secure in the sense that they're not severely injured all of those things
12:44at play right now i would think that we probably have pretty good communication data
12:48and would know exactly where these guys are if they're able to to turn that
12:53on yeah i think we know where the plane is uh i think we can
12:57assume we know where the plane is but the iranians probably also know where the
13:00plane is and so then you get into something of a race against time where
13:04we first off we don't know the status of the pilots that may be intentional
13:08meaning the pentagon may know but they're not yet sharing because they don't want to
13:12give any additional information to the enemy in this case but let's assume the pilots
13:17are alive and certainly hopefully god willing they are that means that we have to
13:23get to them extract them that's priority number one getting our guys and perhaps a
13:29gal or gals uh we don't know but probably guys getting them back uh safely
13:35priority number two clay would be dealing yes sir cnn is reporting that we have
13:40rescued one of the two crew on the down jet according to sources that literally
13:46just reported by breaking news on cnn that one of the two pilots has now
13:52been rescued by the united states i mean that's certainly incredible news we want to
13:57know about the other pilots still but it's fantastic to get one of them back
14:01and know that that pilot is safe and sound it is a little concerning that
14:05we have not heard about the other you would you would think they would very
14:10likely be together um but i don't i don't want to get beyond that right
14:15now we don't we don't know i mean it's all surmising at this point uh
14:18and certainly is i understand this is real life these are pilots with families and
14:23they're americans but in terms of some of the context of what this what the
14:27response is and everything else if you've seen uh i think it's behind enemy lines
14:31with uh gene hackman and um who is the guy uh gosh i can't remember
14:37his name right wilson owen wilson luke wilson one of the wilson brothers you've seen
14:40this movie clay it's about it's based on a true story it's based on a
14:44guy who went down during uh one of our balkans uh one of our balkan
14:49wars he got shot down and then had to evade behind enemy lines for a
14:55period of time i forget exactly but it's a pretty good movie uh and it
14:58is based on you know inspired by true events but we have one pile at
15:02home thank god and we'll see if we can find out more about the other
15:06one yes and we'll take your calls i'm curious again reports from cnn right off
15:11the screen there that we have rescued one of the two but i want to

20:07Welcome back in. Clay Travis, Buck Sexton Show.
20:12We appreciate all of you hanging out with us on this Friday going into a
20:18holiday weekend. Many of you not working today.
20:20Again, the big report that there is an F -15 down and we have rescued,
20:26according to sources, one of those pilots, one still missing.
20:30That is the report from CNN that is up right now as that continues.
20:38And Buck, again, CNN breaking news, one rescued, one still missing from a down to
20:44F -15. And so this is going to, I think, certainly turn into the Friday
20:50news story that is dominant in many ways.
20:54We've got a bunch of different callers.
20:58I can't believe this is the criticism.
21:01Robert in Sacramento, you're concerned that we might be giving the enemy information by discussing
21:07how we might be able to extract our pilots on this radio show?
21:11You think they're listening in Tehran and they're like, oh, let's listen to Clay and
21:15Buck and make sure we understand American military procedures?
21:19Now, actually, I'm just reminding everybody that loose lips sink ships, and I'm not suggesting
21:25that maybe you as much as some of the legacy media.
21:29But I think it's important to remember that when we have somebody on the ground
21:34and we're discussing assets, we should consider the possibilities that somebody is listening.
21:40I, too, have a radio station.
21:42I will not mention it.
21:43And I have listeners in Tehran.
21:46I mean... Yeah, if you know exactly the longitude and the latitude of where a
21:52potential extraction might be occurring in Iran, you should not go on television and say,
22:00hey, this is where the missing pilot is located based on my sources.
22:04I think the chances of that are zero, zero.
22:08And it's a big country.
22:09There are 90 million people there.
22:11The terrain potentially, Buck, of where this could be is unlike, it's not like the
22:16guy went down in Tehran.
22:18So the idea that I think anybody on American media is going to somehow give
22:23away, I understand not liking legacy media and everything else, but come on.
22:28Well, yeah, I mean, also, we're talking about it because it's the number one news
22:33story in the country right now, meaning every news source on the planet is talking
22:38about it. But, and so, I don't think we're giving away, like, I don't know
22:43what to tell you. If it's the front page of the New York Times, the
22:46Wall Street Journal, and CNN simultaneously, and it's running on Fox News, I think it's
22:50fair game to talk about.
22:51Anyway, I thought that was a silly call.
22:53If I knew something about, specifically about the procedures and was discussing them, that's one
22:59thing. That would be under, by the way, there's something called classification, which I do
23:03not violate and never have, and would not on this program.
23:07But I've seen movies, the Iranians have seen movies.
23:11We know that when a plane is shot down, people try to rescue the pilot.
23:14That's not, there's not a big giveaway there.
23:17Anyway, I won't waste any more time on that.
23:19Jeffrey in Wisconsin. What's going on, Jeffrey?
23:23Oh, nothing. Not much. Happy Easter, fellas.
23:26You deserve it. Thank you.
23:28Happy Easter to you. Yeah, thank you.
23:30Thank you very much. Just a couple of quick thoughts.
23:32As soon as I heard about the pilots being shot down, my first thought was
23:37that the Trump administration is not going to allow this in any shape, form, or
23:42fashion for these individuals to be used as leverage in a hostage negotiation.
23:47If I think back to the Reagan administration, how many days the hostages were over
23:51there, the Trump administration generally moves fairly swiftly and completes their objectives.
23:56And if it's not completed swiftly, they do go through the course and they follow
24:02their procedures and they get the people they want.
24:06It might not be right away, but in a case like this with a highly
24:08trained pilot, I think they're going to move in.
24:12They're going to do what they have to with the resources that they have.
24:14Well, they already got one.
24:15You heard Clay talk about that, right?
24:16They've already rescued one of the pilots according to CNN.
24:19Absolutely. That gave me the chills listening to you guys talk about it.
24:22Yeah. Yeah. Well, thank you.
24:24Thank you very much, man.
24:24Thank you for calling in.

25:37This is a very positive story.
25:41We're waiting on news about the second F -15 pilot.
25:44We'll get to some of your calls.
25:46Earlier this week on Wednesday, we sent Artemis into space.
25:51Right now, the astronauts are in the process of beginning to circle the moon.
25:56They are headed to the moon right now, and one of those individuals is a
26:02black astronaut. And I think there's been black astronauts as long as I've been alive,
26:07Buck. So the idea that we would have a black astronaut, not necessarily a huge
26:13story, but of course, because the media is obsessed with all of the identity politics
26:20-laden elements. One of them asked Artemis II pilot Victor Glover about what it means
26:27to be a black man going to space, and he gave what I thought was
26:32a fantastic answer. This is Cut 5, Victor Glover, astronaut in space now, but right
26:38before he was asked about the significance of his race as it pertains to this
26:42mission. It is a big question, and I want to highlight, I guess, maybe one
26:47facet of this is the tension, I call it.
26:49I live in this dichotomy between happiness that a young woman can look at Christina
26:55and just physicalize her passion or her interests, or even if it's not something she
27:00wants to do, she can just be like girl power, and that's awesome.
27:03And that young brown boys and girls can look at me and go, hey, he
27:06looks like me and he's doing what?
27:07And that's great. I love that.
27:09But I also hope we are pushing the other direction that one day we don't
27:13have to talk about these first, that one day this is just...
27:15and i listen to this that this is the human history it's about human history
27:20it's the story of humanity not black history not women's history but that it becomes
27:24human history um that's perfect as a perfect answer 10 out of 10 could not
27:31improve excellent stuff um and so i liked that going into easter weekend i also
27:38like this uh this kid went viral uh for the uh cnn about why this
27:45is real uh we had to believe him but this is a fired up uh
27:49astronaut kid this is producer greg when he was eight um he's asked why he
27:55is so excited uh about the uh artemis launch and this is what he said
28:00this aired on cnn cut six why do you want to be here why do
28:03you love space why do you love being a part of history we're going back
28:08to the freaking moon that's why uh we may have needed to bleep that he
28:17said he said freaking i thought he said the f word am i wrong are
28:21we okay all right all right i know you said freaking okay which i just
28:26said so i believe you're allowed to say that okay i i i i am
28:30a uh get your freak on up you could say freak uh i guess i
28:35am a i i okay he i don't want to throw the kid i thought
28:38we had to bleep the kid i thought he dropped you just old man yourself
28:41are are you're you're old manning yourself right now by by mishearing you're like oh
28:47the dad nabbit kid with his curse word can we play that again am i
28:51the old he doesn't curse he doesn't curse the kid does not curse let's listen
28:56to him again i totally thought he cursed tell me am i just deaf here
29:03we go you want to be here why do you love space why do you
29:06love being a part of history we're going back to the freaking moon that's why
29:10yeah i hear that a hundred percent as an f -bomb freaking no uh i
29:18i i hope we're right i i by the end of this show they're going
29:22to be taking us out in handcuffs the fcc is going to show up at
29:26my door i'm going to be going out of the show you know back in
29:31olden times when you'd have like your your man jammies you go to sleep and
29:34you'd have the uh for the old man and you'd have the thing you'd put
29:37up to your ear it was like a horn almost like like oh yeah like
29:39a phonograph but you stick it in your ear we'll get you one of those
29:42you know i think you need one a only person you gotta say hey sonny
29:46he did not curse i can't be the only person who producer producers in nyc
29:51new york city squad did he there was no f -bomb there no they say
29:56it's freaking alley so uh but i i heard it i heard it differently so
30:01can i tell you my favorite uh my my i've had the word police come
30:05after me on this show for saying darn under the premise that i might as
30:11well just say the other word because everybody knows what i mean and to this
30:14i've had to respond but i didn't say the other word and that's the whole
30:18point so some people have very tight rules on this stuff oh i i got
30:24uh accused of having too salty of a language one time when um i think
30:29i used the word bottom on a show and they were like hey you need
30:32to watch with the salacious i'm serious when i started in radio bottom was told
30:37to me to be a border borderline word you got to be close when you
30:40say bottom you know what no one says anymore tush what's wrong with tush no
30:46i would now i would push back here for your for your behind people say
30:51it all the time now for football with the tush push you know uh which
30:55is for anybody out there the first down that the philadelphia eagles get with jalen
30:59hurts is a play where he quarterback sneaks and then someone comes running in behind
31:05him and gives him the tush push it's legal under nfl rules to allow somebody
31:10to be pushed from behind and it's basically an unstoppable uh first down getter on
31:16third or fourth down for uh for everybody uh everybody out there so tush has
31:23come back only in that context that would not have been my first guess as
31:25to what a tush push is so there we go thank you for educating me
31:30on that back to the uh the artemis launch so we have that that a
31:35brilliant answer from that uh that astronaut uh so these guys have left low earth
31:41orbit right they're on their way to loop around the far side of the moon
31:45everyone's you as soon as you say far side of the moon right we're all
31:49thinking the same thing right we're all are you are you a pink floyd guy
31:53oh i was thinking about uh that's a very famous song but i was thinking
31:57about the didn't they do a transformers where they said on the dark side of
32:01the moon there was they did an entire premise on it being like filled with
32:06all sorts of transformerly related activities far far side of the moon dark side of
32:11the moon i'm saying it's close enough that i think that's what people people think
32:14of uh but this is the furthest that humans have gone in over half a
32:17century uh testing the orion spacecraft for missions that will put boots back on that
32:23lunar surface aka the moon it is a giant leap you could say clay towards
32:29sustainable exploration a new amer a new era of american leadership up in space and
32:35there's going to be the lunar flyby in the days producer greg are you um
32:39how are you celebrating the lunar flyby are you getting together With all of your
32:43space friends, you guys give me, like, beep, beep, beep, beep, space.
32:47Oh, he's not in studio.
32:48Oh, all right. I was throwing him, throwing him, because he's the guy who gets
32:52the special glasses. He says he is super celebrating.
32:55He's out of studio today, but super celebrating.
33:00And, of course, the guy who took a day off to go watch the eclipse
33:05would be excited about going back to the moon.
33:07I mean, I think he took a day off to go watch the lunar whatever's
33:10going on right now. So, you know, he's remote.
33:13He's remote. But there's going to be a splashdown in the Pacific on April 10th
33:17or 11th, they're saying. Artemis 2 is just the beginning, my friends.
33:20Artemis 3 lunar landings, crude lunar landings are coming soon.
33:26We're going to get back on the moon.
33:27My question to you about this, Clay, my question to you, sir, will there be
33:32people claiming that this moon landing is also faked?
33:38Or, Wilby, we didn't land on the moon, people say, oh, no, this one is
33:43real. We only faked the one before.
33:46I'm just like, where do the conspiracy folks go on this one?
33:49Like, do you double down?
33:50It's all fake? The Earth is glad.
33:52How committed are you to it is a good question because I would imagine the
33:57technology of our ability to transmit what happens from the moon today compared to coming
34:04up on the next trip.
34:05I mean, they're going around it this time, so they're not actually touching down.
34:08But I think the Artemis, next Artemis trip, the idea is that we'll go there.
34:12And we talked with Jared Isaacman earlier this week, and he told us the goal
34:16is to have an actual moon base put in place.
34:18And so I do think that it will become impossible for the moon landing never
34:25happened people. I think a lot of them will moderate it and say, well, we
34:29didn't do it in 69, but now the technology has advanced substantially.
34:34I mean, it really is kind of extraordinary.
34:35We talked about this when we talked with Isaacman.
34:38And one of my favorite stats of human progress, Buck, is that Orville and Wilbur
34:42Wright flew airplanes for the first time.
34:45Flight became a reality in 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
34:5066 years later, we put men on the moon.
34:53It honestly is pretty extraordinary to think about how rapid that trajectory was from never
35:00having flown before to putting a man on the moon, 66 years.
35:04And then basically we just froze.
35:06We haven't really done anything.
35:08And then Elon comes back in.
35:10I know we did the space station.
35:11Some people always want to talk about, oh, we built the International Space Station.
35:14Okay. We haven't been back to the moon since 71, I think, right?
35:18And I do believe if you'd gone back to 1969 and talked to Americans who
35:22were watching us walk on the moon that day, and you told them, hey, where
35:27will we be in 2026?
35:28The idea that we'd be returning to the moon and not that much progress in
35:32space travel would have occurred, I think would have been hard for them to believe.
35:39And I think, again, the private sector has actually been the group that has driven
35:44much of the success. Well, SpaceX, I know that this is, we're talking Artemis and
35:51NASA, and there's also Blue Origin.
35:54As you know, I went up and checked out the Blue Origin facility and also
35:58visited NASA the same day and saw our Secretary of War and had a whole
36:03bunch of briefings and press conferences and things like that about all the things going
36:08on here. Elon with SpaceX, and we have to go to SpaceX, by the way.
36:13Let's just put that on the show calendar.
36:15You and I have to get down there and see this.
36:17100%. Apparently, it's incredible. And by the way, I had an Uber driver recently, speaking
36:24of Elon, who just like Clay, he's gone so, he was so full Tesla that
36:29he says, if I don't get a Tesla, I'm crazy.
36:32He's right. This is his position on it.
36:33He says, if you don't like driving, but you have to be in a car,
36:37if you don't get a Tesla, you're nuts.
36:39That was his take. I think that's 100 % correct.
36:42And by the way, for SpaceX, there is talk that is part of the IPO,
36:46which is going to happen this summer, that they're going to be bringing a ton
36:50of people in to be able to see what the technology is and kind of
36:55roll out the red carpet, so to speak, for the investing public to see whether
37:00or not they want to jump in.
37:03But Elon views this as creating the baseline infrastructure for future space generation.
37:12In 100 years, people will look back at what's going on right now as absolutely
37:19critical. I truly believe this.
37:21Elon believes this, so I'm really just reiterating what he said on this.
37:24But this is when we became really a multi -planetary species, or the beginnings of
37:32a multi -planetary species, meaning that we are going to get to Mars.
37:36These things are happening now.
37:38They are within sight. It is serious, all of the above.
37:41So it's really cool, honestly.
37:43And I'm not even as into space.
37:44Clay is more into space in the Civil War than me.
37:47I'm more into classical music.
37:49See, we cover a lot of ground here.
37:51You know, we have our areas of nerddom.
37:54You know what I'm reading right now?
37:55I'm reading a 1 ,000 -page book.
37:57I didn't even know this because all my Kindle looked it up last night.
37:59I'm like, wow, it's kind of slow going.
38:00A 1 ,000 -page book on the 30 -years war.
38:03Who even sits there and reads a 1 ,000 -page book on the 30 -years
38:05war? I don't know. Weird guys like you and me.
38:09This is what we do.
38:10I would give... I'm glad that that author at least has a reader.
38:15Yeah, we'll see. I mean, you're reading it.
38:17Think about the guy who wrote the book.
38:18A thousand pages. I would love to know how many copies he's actually sold.
38:22Think about how many hours.
38:23My book was 200 Manufacturing Delusion, available in fine bookstores and on Amazon everywhere.
38:28My book is like 200 and something pages.
38:30Your books are 200 and something pages.
38:32A thousand pages? Yeah. Did you just live in a library, in a writing room
38:39or something for like 10 years?
38:40I don't know. It's pretty amazing.
38:41Anyway, it's very interesting. One day I'll just go on some tangent about the 30
38:45Years' War. It's actually quite important.
38:47Quite important. Here's a fun fact about it.
38:49Sorry, I'm going to retract that.
38:51A fun fact is not the right word.
38:53Here's an interesting fact about it.
38:56The highest, of all of Europe's wars for the region where this was fought primarily
39:02in Germany, including the First World War and the Second World War, the highest percentage
39:06of the overall population killed.
39:10What years was this 30 -year war fall?
39:131618 to 1648. I didn't even know.
39:15I figured it was in that vicinity, but I didn't know for sure.
39:18You're just supposed to know how it ends with the Treaty of Westphalia, which was
39:21actually a series of a few treaties over a period of time.
39:24Anyway, nerd time, another day.
39:26Legacy box, my friends. One of the great things about being a parent is getting
39:29to relive childhood excitement and wonder around the holidays through your own kids' eyes.
39:33If you celebrate Easter after church, one of the fun things to do is the
39:36Easter bunny egg hunt. Before we had smartphones, we lugged video cameras around.

44:44Welcome back in to Clay and Buck.
44:46So we'll take some of your calls, get some of your talkbacks today as well.
44:50It is a Friday. We want to hear from all of you.
44:52We're obviously watching very closely the situation with the downed pilot at this point, I
44:57believe. Right, Clay? That's one of them.
44:59Yes. That reporting has not changed.
45:01U .S. rescues crew member from fighter jet down over Iran.
45:05One of the two -person crews in U .S.
45:07custody receiving medical care. So hopefully we'll have updates on the second, and hopefully he
45:14will be home safe and sound as well.
45:18We'll continue to watch that story very closely.
45:22We also had – there's a fair bit of aftermath of the Pam Bondi situation
45:28that I think we should get to.
45:31People talking about what happened here.
45:34Here is – these are on talkbacks.
45:36This is Allison. This is A on the talkback list.
45:39Allison from Los Angeles. Let's hear what she has to say about it.
45:43Go for it. Hey, this is Allison from L .A.
45:45I am so excited to hear about Pam Bondi leaving, and please, God, Ron DeSantis
45:52coming in. 100 % support, Clay, on that.
45:55And like I said, not only should women not vote, they should not be serving
45:59in the cabinet. There are very few that are up to that.
46:05All righty. Anything on that one, Clay, or are you just like, yeah, there you
46:10go? No, I mean, look, there seems to be – if I were assessing it,
46:15Mike Lee seems to be the choice if they go into the Senate.
46:18We've had Senator Mike Lee on from Utah quite a bit, and he was one
46:23of the finalists for Attorney General last time.
46:26So if they choose to go outside of the cabinet, Lee Zeldin is the favorite
46:31there, then I think that's probably the direction they would go in the Senate.
46:36He would be confirmed with ease, and I think he'd do a great job as
46:39Attorney General. D, podcast listener Neil in North Carolina.
46:43Let's hear from Neil. I just wanted to comment on the Democrat you guys interviewed
46:46today. I really appreciate that you did that.
46:49I think that you should have more Democrats on if they're willing, not because we
46:54need to hear what they have to say, but because this may be one of
46:57the only places they will actually get asked hard questions, and they will have to
47:01actually go on record and answer them.
47:04I agree. Look, I don't think most of those guys and gals will come on.
47:09But the feedback that I saw, and I know there's feedback everywhere.
47:13You can find whatever you want.
