1:03Senator, we've got quite a show to chat about today, including Gavin Newsom.
1:08He's a little cranky with us after our last episode.
1:10Apparently, he didn't have a dictionary with him, and he couldn't use AI, apparently, to
1:15figure out what we were talking about.
1:17And that's what made him so mad.
1:19Well, look, we need to have an intervention.
1:21Gavin Newsom is having a hysterical bout of crying anxiety because the last episode of
1:30Verdict criticized his imbecility and anti -American leftism as he traveled to Europe to attack
1:37this country and to say things that are blatantly false.
1:41It does help that even Twitter, which sometimes can be a fairly lefty forum, lit
1:47the poor guy on fire.
1:50I mean, it was so bad, I almost felt sorry for his very pretty anti
1:56-American leftist self. You're kinder than me.
2:02Look, I'm a lover, not a fighter.
2:04You know, Ben, you're sometime really harsh.
2:08I'm all about the love.
2:10All about the love. Just check your Twitter account for proof, right?
2:14There you go. We're also going to talk about Comrade Mondami.
2:18Comrade Mondami has been in office a little over a month, and shock of all
2:24shock, what is he doing to start off with?
2:26He's proposing a massive tax increase on the citizens of New York that will result
2:33in rents going up, and there is an irony in this in that he campaigned
2:36on saying he was going to freeze rents, but then he discovered, okay, it turns
2:40out you need money to run a city, particularly if you want to run a
2:43socialist city where you want to spend massive amounts of money, and so we're going
2:46to break down what he's doing.
2:48We're also going to talk about the left in Minneapolis is spending real money trying
2:54to promote jury nullification. They don't want violent radical activists who assault law enforcement officers
3:00to be convicted. They're undermining our justice system.
3:04We're going to explain. And finally, at the end, we're going to say goodbye to
3:08an American movie classic, Robert Duvall, an extraordinary actor.
3:11We're going to have a few words about him.
3:13He passed this week. He was 95 years old.
3:16He led an incredible life, but nonetheless, we're going to say our farewells to a
3:21one -of -a -kind actor.
3:22Yeah, he really was. All right, if you have a dog, I've got a 13
3:28-year -old dog and a new puppy, and there's one thing I'm doing for both
3:31of them. It is giving them rough greens on their food, which is really helping
3:36them live a quality and the best life that you can give your dog.
3:40Now, I've been telling you about my older dog and some of the symptoms that
3:45he was having, slowing down and itching and having bad breath, losing interest in playtime.
3:51That is just part of the aging process, but it doesn't have to be.
3:55And after just a few weeks of rough greens, we start to see a real
3:58difference. The stuff is truly amazing.
4:01And if you have a dog you love, you've got to try rough greens for
4:06your dog for life. It not only supports long -term health by providing live bioavailable
4:12nutrients, including essential vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and digestive enzymes, as well as omega oils.
4:18The ingredients work together to improve nutrition absorption and maintain joint and muscle health and
4:24enhance overall vitality, and you can witness it happen over weeks.
4:28So if you love your dog and you are ready to get your dog back
4:33to the way maybe he used to be and was more playful, then check out
4:37Rough Greens. It's so easy, you just put it on top of your traditional dog
4:42food, and that is it.
4:44And dogs absolutely love it.
4:46Go to roughgreens .com. That's R -U -F -F, greens .com.
4:51Use the promo code VERDICT, and you're going to get a free jumpstart trial bag.
4:59All you've got to do is add Rough Greens to your dog's food.

5:11That's R -U -F -F -G -R -E -E -N -S dot com.
5:16Promo code VERDICT. Senator, I pride myself in being able to read the room, and
5:20you reluctantly said at the very end of the show we were going to talk
5:24about Robert Duvall's... passing. I just am going to do that right now because you're
5:29such a movie buff guy, and this is me serving you, Senator, knowing that this
5:36is top of mind for you.
5:38And it's because of the movies that he was in, and let's just start with
5:41The Godfather real quick. Look, Robert Duvall, he lived to 95 years old.
5:47He was an incredible actor.
5:49He's one of the greatest actors of his generation.
5:52His first major movie role was in To Kill a Mockingbird, where he played Boo
5:58Radley. And he had no lines, but he just simply through his face, he turned
6:04sort of a weird, freakish, scary guy into someone deeply empathetic.
6:10And it was an introduction to a career where he had classic roles.
6:18He had classic roles in Lonesome Dove, where he was the most badass Texas Ranger
6:24to have ever lived. He had a classic role in Apocalypse Now.
6:33Look, the phrase, I love the smell of napalm in the morning, is an American
6:39classic. And for him to be squatting down, bare -chested, just explaining that, and the
6:46look of the young G .I.
6:47is looking at the guy going, dude, what?
6:50Like, that conveys a lot.
6:52But of all of the roles, the one that is my favorite, and it's a
6:59sentimental, is from The Godfather.
7:02He was Tom Hagen. He was the lawyer to the Corleone family.
7:08But he was an adopted brother.
7:10And of course, in the second movie, he gets let go by Michael Corleone, because
7:16Michael says, you're not a wartime consigliere, you're a peacetime consigliere.
7:20And the portrayal he plays of sort of the calm lawyer for the mob, lawyer
7:29for mass murderers. The lawyer comes in and says, you don't want to screw with
7:34the Corleone family. I got to say, you know, it's interesting.
7:38In 2011, Robert Duvall was named an honorary Texas Ranger.
7:43And it was his Lonesome Dove portrayal, but it is still, he was not actually
7:48a Texan. He was from California and Virginia and Maryland.
7:51But Texas loved him. And he loved Texas.
7:57It was a mutual arrangement.
8:01I got to say, I'm sad.
8:04Look, at 95, you know, every one of us is on a journey where we're
8:07going to shuffle off this mortal coil.
8:11But his acting body of work is incredible.
8:17He was very close with Gene Hackman, another one of my favorite actors, and Dustin
8:22Hoffman, another incredible actor. They used to be roommates, they worked together.
8:27I got to say, Gene Hackman, I could watch Gene Hackman reading the newspaper and
8:32be riveted. Yeah, it'd be amazing.
8:34And he was another actor in his 90s who just passed away.
8:38Um, we're losing modern day legends, but, but, you know, Robert Duvall, a, a life
8:46well lived and actually I'm, I'm going to call an audible.
8:51I want to play, I want to play.
8:54And particularly for those of you watching this on, on YouTube, I want to play
8:58a clip from, from one of Robert Duvall's great moments.
9:03Give a watch. Now, just for context, for everybody that's listening in the audio world
9:09only, this is a scene from back in 2003, secondhand lions, where two old guys
9:16walk into a bar with a bunch of young punks.
9:19Here it is. Hey, old man, how's that barbecue?
9:23Give me some. We're busy before we get lost, all right?
9:29What did you say? Here's a perfect example of what I've been talking about.
9:34Since this boy was suckling on his mama's, he's been given everything but discipline.
9:38And now his idea of courage and manhood is to get together with a bunch
9:41of punk friends and ride around irritating folks.
9:44Too good nature to put a stop to it.
9:48Hey, who do you think you are, huh?
9:50Just dumb kid, huh? Don't kill him.
9:52All right. I'm Hug McCann.
9:56I fought in two world wars and countless smaller ones on three continents.
9:59I led thousands of men into battle with everything with horses and swords to artillery
10:03and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile and tribes of natives no white
10:08man had ever seen before.
10:09I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, killed many men and loved only one woman
10:14with a passion to flee me like you could never begin to understand.
10:18That's who I am. Show these old bastards you stop.
10:22Get out your knife. Yeah.
10:26Now, boys, you're fixing to let those teenage hormones get you into the world of
10:30trouble. Damage guard, did I ask you to butt in?
10:35Oh, you just come out to the hospital.
10:36Well, there's only four of them.
10:40Yeah, but look, look, you fight this one first.
10:42And then I'll let you fight the other three after, okay?
10:46Yeah. Watch it, kid. Now, you, you better pick that knife up, because, son, it's
10:53okay. You're gonna need all the help you can get.
10:57Come on, Frankie. Get him, Frankie.
10:58Cut him, Frankie. Come on, Frankie.
11:00Get him, Frankie. Cut him.
11:05Shoot. All this trick in the book.
11:08Okay. You're holding it wrong, son.
11:10Not like this. You always do it like this.
11:13Smooth. All right? Try to do it.
11:15Come on, Frankie. Come on, Frankie.
11:17Get him. Get him, Frankie.
11:18Cut him. Come on, come on.
11:19There you go. Cut him, Frankie.
11:23Stop, stop, stop. I like his arm.
11:26You better get in there and help.
11:29It's so good. I just, by the way, if you're listening on audio only, I
11:33wish two things. If you haven't watched that clip, you need to watch that clip.
11:37You've got Robert Duvall as an old dude.
11:41You've got Michael Caine as his buddy.
11:44And then you've got Haley Joel Osment as the young kid watching this old dude
11:50beat the living crap out of these four punks.
11:54And it's, you know, I love Michael Caine comes back with a shotgun and is
11:58like, all right, let me stop you because I got four guys with a knife.
12:01Drop your knives. They drop their knives and Robert Duvall is like, come on, let
12:06me fight him. And he's like, okay, fight the first one.
12:09You pick your knife up.
12:10The other three stay back.
12:11And then once you beat him up, you can beat the other three.
12:13Like, it's classic, old, like, badass.
12:20And that is Robert Duvall.
12:23By the way, did you ever see Gone in 60 Seconds?
12:26Duvall was amazing. I think it was Otto was his name in the movie.
12:30If you've never watched that one, like, it's not, it's just, I grew up and
12:34it was younger in, like, Fast Cars and Stealing Cars and Nicolas Cage and Duvall.
12:38He was unbelievable in that one as well.
12:41So grab it. Yeah. So there you go.
12:42All right. I'm glad we did that.
12:44I'm glad I called the audible here.
12:45I knew you wanted to talk about this.
12:47Okay, hold on a second.
12:49Now, hold on. If you're going to do this, there's another clip we got to
12:53watch, which is from Lonesome Dove, Augustus McRae, walking in this old weathered Texas Ranger,
13:01walking into a bar. And let's say there's a punk -ass bartender.
13:06Actually, there's a lot of similarity between these two scenes.
13:09But it's part of why I love Duvall.
13:11He got better as an old guy.
13:13So listen and watch this great clip from Lonesome Dove.
13:17What I like about the man, he's a philosopher.
13:20Oh, yeah. I hired him to give you somebody to talk to.
13:24That'll free the rest of us up, maybe.
13:26We'll get a little work done.
13:31I like a shot of whiskey and so would my companion.
13:34It ain't too much trouble.
13:37Howdy, boy. You got a good game going there?
13:40You got mud in your ears or what?
13:43Rye or what'll it be, old -timer?
13:45Rye will do, provided it gets here quick.
13:49Darn cowboys ought to broom yourselves off before you walk in here.
13:53We'll get all the sand we need without the customers bringing it in.
13:56That'll be a dollar. Now, besides the whiskey, I think we'll require a little respect.
14:04I'm Captain Augustus McCrane. This is Captain Woodrow F.
14:08Carr. Now, if you care to turn around, you can see how we looked when
14:13we was younger and the people around here wanted to make us senators.
14:16Now, the thing we didn't put up with then was dawdling service.
14:20And as you can see, we still don't put up with it.
14:24By the way, in that scene, that's Tommy Lee Jones who says nothing at all,
14:28which is pretty funny, but you can tell in his facial expressions he's having the
14:32time of his life making this movie with Duvall.
14:35No, no, no. And they wanted Duvall to play the role that Tommy Lee Jones
14:39played. And Duvall said, no, Augustus McCrane was the only role he played.
14:44He wouldn't do the movie if he didn't get – or it was actually a
14:47television series, a four -part series.
14:49But, you know, it – he was just an all -time classic, 95 years –
14:57By the way, Duvall insisted – do you know he's not having a funeral?
15:01He's not. He said, don't have a ceremony for me.
15:04Just go and watch a good movie.
15:07Tell a good story. Sit around with friends and loved ones.
15:10I mean, that really is Duvall.
15:12I kind of dig that.
15:13I wish – I never got a chance to meet him.
15:15I was going to say, did you ever meet him?
15:16He was a conservative. I heard fabulous things.
15:20I knew people who knew him.
15:22I wanted to meet him, but we just never crossed paths.
15:25But my heart is beating for an American legend who left us.

16:00T's and C's apply. Let's get to the politics now.
16:04And we'll start with – yeah, you couldn't get any further from Duvall with Gavin
16:08Newsom. Gavin Newsom trashes America.
16:11No, no, no. Hold on a second.
16:12Gavin Newsom is the young punk in the bar.
16:16That's true. And by the way, you and I get to be, I think, in
16:20this – story robert duvall and tommy lee jones yes although there is one thing
16:25that's stretching that which is tommy lee jones is silent in that scene and ben
16:28you've never been silent in any scene no no that's that's also very true that's
16:32very that's why they pay me the big bucks right that's that's why they pay
16:35me the big bucks you know like the old -time lawyers they pay you by
16:39the word yeah right all right so so let's set the stage for this story
16:43you and i do a show we talk about it we're going to play part
16:46of that in a second but i want to know when did you and who
16:49how fast did you find out after he tweeted at us getting all cranky he
16:54got he got his underwear in a wad is the is the way i described
16:57it my phone actually i started getting random texts from people i'm like what are
17:01you talking about i was in a meeting i'm like what like they're like dude
17:03newsom's like throwing shade and he's really upset with you guys and i was like
17:07well that's what i would expect from a california liberal to be honest with you
17:10when did you find out so our last podcast we lit up aoc and gretchen
17:17whitmer and and gavin newsom all of whom went to munich to the munich security
17:22conference and they all made fools of themselves they're all trying to run for president
17:26they're all trying to be impressive and they all just like totally beclowned themselves and
17:30and aoc and whitmer showed they know nothing about foreign policy or national security gavin
17:35newsom did something different he just decided to demonize law enforcement and he made a
17:40statement in particular he said no president has ever before federalized uh the national guard
17:45and that that's just laughably false so so i want to play the clip from
17:49what we said in the very last podcast and this is the clip that's so
17:53triggered young gavin listen let's be very clear senator that is gavin newsom comparing american
18:00law enforcement to nazis yep yep which which by the way uh it is what
18:06obama was doing too by by the way just like aoc and whitmer newsom is
18:11apparently thoroughly historically illiterate he said we've never seen national guards federalized in the states
18:17i i guess his history book does not discuss the civil rights movement he's never
18:21heard of a president named dwight d eisenhower he's never heard of sending the national
18:25guard into southern states when democrats who refused to desegregate schools resisted eisenhower sent the
18:33national guard in the pattern is the same in this instance you have democrats who
18:38are saying we refuse to comply with federal immigration law then you had in the
18:4350s and 60s you had democrats saying we refuse to comply with civil rights law
18:47uh in both instances it is lawless democrats attacking law enforcement uh you know gavin
18:55newsom is proudly following the tradition of bull connor another democrat politician that's all that
19:02you really said and then his response was a total freak out yeah so so
19:08gavin on twitter he sent out a tweet and and like all good democrats when
19:13when caught being full of crap he responds by attacking and screaming you cannot criticize
19:20me and in particular what he said is ted cruz calling a dyslexic person illiterate
19:26is a new low even for him now let's start out first of all who
19:32the hell knew gavin newsom was dyslexic i didn't know that did you did you
19:35know that ben no i did not and you know it's funny i'm dyslexic but
19:38that doesn't mean you're stupid by the way that i too by the way i
19:41didn't know you were dyslexic either yeah because i don't use as a crutch but
19:45like since gavin's bringing up like it's some like you you like you went off
19:48the the rails on him like how dare you do that like i'm dyslexic doesn't
19:52mean you're dumb doesn't make you mean stupid statements because you're dyslexic like you can
19:55still be intelligent and be dyslexic buddy so gavin's dissent the defense is is is
20:02you're not allowed to criticize me because i have a disability that that is if
20:06there's anything to embody the idiocy of today's democrat party that that does it pretty
20:11well so it's interesting i i sent two responses the first response i sent was
20:16i didn't say you couldn't read you clown with the emoji of the clown i
20:23said you were quote historically illiterate because you apparently have no idea that eisenhower federalized
20:32the national guard to stop democrat governors from defying federal law specifically on september 23rd
20:391957 president eisenhower issued executive order 10730 federalizing the arkansas national guard and ordering u
20:48.s army troops the 101st airborne division to little rock arkansas yep this action broke
20:53the blockade by democrat governor orville faubus allowing the little rock nine to desegregate central
20:59high school now gavin had no response to that now i gotta tell you let
21:05me bring a little bit inside the scenes so my team had a different response
21:09that they suggested and i have a whole social media communications team they had a
21:13different response their different response was to to send out a tweet with a gif
21:22and and a gif of zoolander there's a mini video just so everybody doesn't know
21:27what that is like some people may not realize what that it's like the mini
21:30little video kind of thing you send out so it's ben stiller is zoolander and
21:35he's looking down at a sign that says the gavin newsom center for what kids
21:39who don't know what historically illiterate means and who want to learn to do other
21:44stuff good too so that my team put that together i did not put that
21:49together um i saw that and i sent mine instead um and then my team
21:56got all upset and they're like wait you didn't like ours and i said you
21:59know what let's have a competition send that one too let's put them both out
22:05and see which one wins both out the internet and and see which one wins
22:10so as of we're now 12 21 uh a .m uh the the ben stiller
22:18gif which was clever yeah has gotten 397 000 views okay the one i wrote
22:25has gotten a million views yeah so so how long are you going to haze
22:29them on this data that you have that's undisputed okay so so not not to
22:34to brag too much but i did beat the team by 250 percent just for
22:41everyone i want to take them behind the scenes when when senator when you are
22:44correct and your team has these moments i enjoy not being on that team i
22:50enjoy being a spectator okay but i do know but hold on i'm going to
22:53be gracious for a minute i'm going to be gracious for a minute although i
22:58got two and a half times as much coverage as they did in terms of
23:01people watching it i will say the comments on their gift the folks that saw
23:06it loved it so i'm just going to go through a few joe lonsdale good
23:11friend of ours big tech entrepreneur he's been on the podcast he did the crying
23:15emoji another guy said whoever came up with this meme needs a needs a raise
23:20uh another guy said sir this is a 10 for 10 post it's too bad
23:25newsom won't be able to read it another person had a gift from the simpsons
23:30hello 9 -1 -1 i'd like to report a murder yeah um it the volume
23:37of comments the x trolling continues good good picture of trump toasting uh crying trump
23:45emojis clear crews clearly won this round blah it's like this put you in my
23:52top five favorite politicians i'm really depressed who are the other four yeah right um
23:56uh well done good sir well done spitting out he went to school at the
24:01leering school so so so that so the team is going to get accolades for
24:05quality over quantity that's so and i gave them that actually their comments the people
24:10who saw it loved it they're like this is a freaking great comment and and
24:15so you know what i said i'm glad we sent them both yeah uh we
24:19reached more people mine had kind of substance i'm going to tell you another admission
24:24you know how i wrote my my tweet yeah how you do how no no
24:30i'm saying how tell me how i know you said yeah oh yeah no i
24:34like i know you wrote it but i can i can all what people don't
24:37understand about you is when you what you can check out of any conversation if
24:42you have something clever that you want to get out in the into the world
24:45of of the internet as you described earlier i would call it you on age
24:51there like putting it out into the internet yes okay al gore he created it
24:55back in the day but but when you when there's nothing scarier than watching tc
25:00at dinner just quietly over there and disengaging from the conversation for about five minutes
25:08and you know what's coming it's gonna be something really entertaining on the internet i
25:12can promise you that so my team had sent me this gift monday night i
25:16was playing hoops and and as you know i play hoops twice a week and
25:19so it's about three hours of hoops and i had after a couple of games
25:23we lost one game and so i i didn't hit my free throw so i
25:26was sitting waiting for the next game and so i typed this responding and it's
25:30actually a very cool thing about ai so the first part of it that i
25:34sent which is because you apparently have no idea that eisenhower federalized the national guard
25:38stopped them governors from defying federal law i wrote that yeah but then i went
25:42to google and i typed in eisenhower federalizing national guard because like you know i
25:47wanted a little more research and google ai so the second paragraph of my tweet
25:52was written by google ai and so the paragraph specifically on september 23rd 1957 so
25:58i didn't know the date until i went into google ai president eisenhower issued executive
26:03order 10 730 i didn't know the number of the 10 730 like the whole
26:08details of the second paragraph the beauty of google ai it took me 30 seconds
26:15to pull those details it took you missing your free throws then giving you the
26:19opportunity okay that's giving you the opportunity if i hit my damn free throws all
26:24right punk this none of this would have ever happened none of this would have
26:27ever happened if it wasn't for you sucking at free throw shooting that night i
26:31just want to be clear about what brought this opportunity to get let me just
26:34say for the record what happened the last time you played hoops with me uh
26:38you you or someone else decided to break my finger it's still crooked if you
26:42can't see it right there america there it is it is as a crooked finger
26:45right there i i'm just saying you were a college division one varsity athlete to
26:51be clear lonsdale would back me up on this i taped it up and played
26:55like a man you you did you i agree you you did not crawl up
26:59at a ball and and and whimper but i'm just saying you're like you know
27:03you broke you you broke bones when you decided to hoops and i still hit
27:06my shots you guys don't play fair you get older you start grabbing for stuff
27:10you can't see straight if it's that's how old guys play that's how old guys
27:14play exactly exactly so you miss you you you you your free throws ai came
27:18and saved the day you put out the tweet gavin shoots back and that's how
27:22we got to where we are right now but think about it even like a
27:25year ago to put together the details of that tweet i would have a year
27:30ago probably if i wanted to have a little substance in the tweet i might
27:33have said you get your team involved to my team said hey research give me
27:36the exact details i know eisenhower federalized the national guard yeah tell me when who
27:41what when where and why right and someone would have researched it they would have
27:44sent it to me and then i would have included it and instead i just
27:47did it in between games like the whole thing took me maybe three minutes to
27:51type so when did you so when did you see the news and response was
27:55it after missing more free throws or was it later on uh it was before
27:59the game and and to be honest i only sat one game i missed free
28:02throws then and won most of the rest of the time and the couple times
28:05i lost i hit my free throws but but i did once miss my damn
28:08free throws um but the beauty of it is it literally so i had seen
28:15it before i started playing and i'm like no and i'm sort of you know
28:19i don't know about you but like when i'm thinking about something i often will
28:23sort of put it out of my mind and let the back of my brain
28:25process it you go back and then you come back yeah yeah and and it
28:28was sort of like literally as i'm playing hoops i'm chewing on what kind of
28:31response i want to have and so then when i had a break i'm like
28:35all right let me type it out all right is i gotta ask you is
28:37gavin newsom on your top five liberals that you would love one -on -one debate
28:41with um oh look i don't know we talked about in the last podcast how
28:46i think newsom and aoc are probably the top two democratic contenders for the presidential
28:52nomination we'll see neither of them know what the hell they're talking about so so
28:57i i feel confident we will we will see them called to account well there's
29:01always the leering center of dyslexia it could be in california gavin newsom could be
29:06in charge of it well you know there's waste fraud and abuse out there and
29:09by the way newsom's being a doofus has nothing to do with his being dyslexic
29:15i didn't even know the guy was dyslexic i've never been offended as being a
29:19guy that's dyslexic until i saw his tweet and i'm like dude you don't you
29:23like this is so out of bat like you have no idea what you're talking
29:27about like you can be dyslexic and be brilliant it doesn't mean that you're incompetent
29:30and you can know something about history like like like you know okay fine so
29:36you have a challenge reading because of a learning disorder doesn't mean you have to
29:39be ignorant of everything that has happened in american history but when i ideology trumps
29:44facts that's when you say things like what gavin newsom did by the way it's
29:47also when you say things like aoc said where where she said uh you know
29:53she got mad at marco rubio for talking about all the things we've inherited from
29:57europe including cowboy tradition that came from spain and she said why don't you try
30:01asking uh mexico and africa about that i will tell you on twitter i had
30:05fun this was another thing i said i just said hey grok where did the
30:10mexicans get their horses yeah and and of course grok responded from well from the
30:15spanish conquistadors in the 15th century cortez by the way i pointed out it's a
30:20little ironic her name is cortez and she doesn't actually know about cortez like the
30:24spaniards bringing horses and bringing look yes the mexican vaqueros were were a predecessor to
30:31american cowboys but the spanish vaqueros were a predecessor to the mexican vaqueros but you
30:36know what a little marxist like aoc or or or gavin newsom they don't want
30:41to acknowledge that europe existed or did anything good and and so they have to
30:46because all is ideology europe must be evil yeah you can't fix stupid sir you
30:53just can't fix stupid all right this is one of my favorite shows i enjoyed
