0:47people are noticing how great it is here.

0:50Got to be a top five, maybe top three, underrated beach community in the whole

0:56country, in my opinion. It's pretty awesome.

0:58Underrated. And they used to be decent at football down here.

1:03So for the Jacksonville Jaguar fans out there, I know, I know.

1:07They had a good year.

1:09And honestly, it's not very far from the University of Florida where Buck Sexton's wife

1:13is an alum. Unfortunately, they got whipped by Iowa in the NCAA tournament and are

1:19out. Did you even know that, Buck?

1:20I did not, but it looks like I lost one on the bracket because I

1:23always bet on Florida. Florida, I'm always betting on Florida.

1:26So the Gators are out.

1:28We will have some fun.

1:30Who did you have to win the whole thing, by the way?

1:32I went with Duke just because I've heard the name so many times.

1:35Houston is my pick. I think Duke's actually going to lose to St.

1:37John's this upcoming Sweet 16 game.

1:40But both of our teams are still alive.

1:42Houston's got a tough matchup as well.

1:45And we'll be taking a bunch of your calls.

1:47By the way, Steve Yates, good guest here because a lot of people have been

1:51saying, what do I need to know about the Strait of Hormuz?

1:53It's in the news a lot.

1:55I understand a lot of you are having to learn a lot of geography here

1:58as the situation in Iran continues.

2:00We will discuss that with him.

2:02Plus, we just talked about this yesterday.

2:05Senator Marsha Blackburn is going to join us in the third hour.

2:09She was with President Trump in Memphis on his visit to that city where crime

2:14is plummeting. I also want to throw out the phone number here for people who

2:19live in Memphis in the wake of the president's visit.

2:23I'm curious for all of you listening in Memphis, how much difference have you seen

2:27in Memphis since the president's surge happened?

2:31800 -282 -2882. But I wanted to start with this.

2:36Linda in Arizona continues to dominate the news cycle.

2:41There are tons of stories about her.

2:42This morning, as we were getting ready to come on the program, the Washington Post

2:47wanted to interview us. They want to interview Linda.

2:52So if she is listening right now, producer Greg is going to ask whether you

2:57want to be interviewed by the Washington Post.

2:59So for everybody out there who is calling, you never know when you might step

3:02in and become a major part of the national story.

3:05And Buck, I flew this morning out of Nashville.

3:09Zero issues with the TSA there.

3:11Every time I go through the Nashville TSA, I meet listeners.

3:16I meet fans of the show.

3:18I love the Nashville airport.

3:21And I love the TSA there.

3:23I appreciate everybody working. I'm going to be flying out this evening out of Jacksonville

3:28because I'm speaking at an event down here and then headed back home.

3:32And what I saw was things seem to be moving and progressing well.

3:36It appears, Buck, that TSA agent presence has actually helped with a lot of call

3:43-outs going on, a lot of sicknesses, a lot of people saying, hey, you know

3:46what? I've got to do another job.

3:48I've got to be able to make money.

3:49I've got child care issues.

3:51I've got to make sure that I can pay my bills, which I totally understand,

3:54which is why this is so unfair.

3:56And I think that the TSA agents are, in fact, helping because wait times seem

4:02to be down. Based on what I have seen this morning, in the wake of

4:08TSA agents being deployed to help then allow, as Linda argued and I think is

4:13happening, TSA agents to be reallocated because otherwise they don't have to watch exits and

4:19entrances and all these different things at the airport.

4:22So we will see exactly how this plays out.

4:24But I did want to say, this is, I think, a super cool example of

4:30President Trump paying attention and the relationship that he has with his voters.

4:35Yesterday, I went on after we had this show, Buck, I went on with our

4:39friend Will Cain and I said this on our radio show as well.

4:44I said, hey, President Trump, I bet Linda, grandmother of five, mom of a couple

4:51of kids, I said, she's a big fan.

4:53I bet she would appreciate an autographed copy of the Trump was right about everything

5:00hat. Within an hour of me saying that, President Trump's team had texted and they

5:07have signed, if you go on Twitter, you can see it.

5:09We'll share it from Clay and Buck if we haven't already.

5:12Linda has a personally signed President Trump hat that he signed for her yesterday on

5:19Air Force One that he is sending to us that we will then route to

5:23Linda as they think now.

5:24You are the business. you for being a supporter and helping to come up with

5:26a great idea. I know there's a lot of stories out there.

5:31To me, Buck, as we just told the Washington Post, and we all know how

5:35talking to media that doesn't love us often goes, so I have no idea how

5:39that story will turn out.

5:41But I actually think, irrespective of what your opinion is of President Trump, the fact

5:47that he is able to see a good idea and act on it basically in

5:53the space of 72 hours is a warp speed response from government.

5:58I think Linda's idea was a good one.

6:00She put it out into the ecosystem.

6:02It did not exist before her call, and shortly thereafter, the President of the United

6:07States is acting on it.

6:09I don't know that there's any example of a president behaving this way, where he

6:15listens to his voters and tries to respond and is willing to accept their good

6:20ideas that we have ever seen.

6:22I think it is a great story, and if I were advising the White House,

6:27I would lean in on it.

6:28We're going to take great ideas no matter where they come from.

6:30You can be a Nobel Prize -winning economist, economist, or you can be a grandma

6:35of five. Good ideas are good ideas.

6:38We're going to try to move on them when we see them, and I think

6:41it's an incredible testament to him.

6:43Well, that's the way that government should function.

6:45It goes back to, Clay, what I was saying yesterday about how the simple genius

6:50of Trumpism is figure out the obvious thing to do to make it better and

6:55do that thing, and this one, now to be fair, this is not an obvious

6:58thing to make it better.

7:00This was, there was some artistry, there was some creative thinking in this one, but

7:05Trump is willing to do the thing that will work or do the thing that

7:09is a break from what everybody else in consistent failure has been offering as the

7:16only alternative or the best option or whatever it may be.

7:19So I'm very happy to see that this has been deployed.

7:23It is quite, it's classic, isn't it?

7:25I'm traveling for one day and Clay and the audience decide to fix America in

7:3024 hours. So well done.

7:32I knew the ship was in good hands.

7:35I knew with you at the con, things would, would go, would go smoothly.

7:39And in this case, better than smoothly, it looks like may have really done an

7:44end run on the Democrats here.

7:46Clay, I still believe that if nothing else, it'll help the lines a bit, which

7:51is good, but it also just shows the Democrats are causing this because there's no

7:56way if Republicans were causing, even if you're not paying attention to politics, if Republicans

8:00were causing the long TSA lines, now they're going to send ice over instead of

8:05just having the TSA do their jobs and be funded.

8:08No, of course, this is Democrats.

8:10And it brings me back to counterinsurgency theory.

8:15Democrats are waging a political insurgency in an election year.

8:19Insurgents just have to make things bad.

8:21They have to make things dysfunctional, miserable, dangerous, whatever.

8:25And then they say, see, they can't protect you.

8:28They can't make it better.

8:28The people in charge are bad.

8:30Yeah. The people in charge are the ones that are failing you, even though it's

8:34the insurgents that are blowing up the village and making sure that no one can

8:37get food. But they say, see, they can't make things better for you.

8:41Put us in charge and things will be fine.

8:43That's what Democrats are doing.

8:44They're political insurgents. They're making you miserable at the airport.

8:48They're slowing down travel. They're creating frustration because there's not enough frustration out there for

8:55them to capitalize on from bad Trump policy or bad problems.

8:59They want the Iran war to be this huge cleavage in the MAGA base.

9:06It's not. All the polling, you know, are we taking irate calls about the Iran

9:13war? No, we're not. We're open to them.

9:16But people are saying, yeah, look, I trust Trump to play this out.

9:19I trust Trump to figure out the best way for the country to move forward

9:23on this. That seems like 80, 90 percent of Trump voters right now, which is

9:29solid. So this is why they have to make the TSA thing a point of

9:33misery, because otherwise economy is good.

9:36Border secure. Trump is is do you know, you got to let him cook on

9:40Iran. He's doing his thing.

9:42What else are they going to point to?

9:43I think that's the other part of this is that's unfortunate.

9:48A lot of Democrats are trying.

9:50I've seen it to say TSA failure is a function entirely of Trump and Republicans.

9:57And frankly, there's a lot of people who believe that because they are in such

10:03a sheltered media ecosystem that all they can think of is orange man bad.

10:09Buck, I had some fun with this.

10:11I posted this last night because I did think it was funny.

10:14The left wing out there is outraged by the idea that ICE agents wear masks.

10:21And their latest concern is what if ICE agents wear masks at the airport?

10:26The funniest thing about this, as you well know, is the people who are wearing

10:31masks at the airport still after six years are concerned that the ICE agents might

10:38be wearing masks at the airport.

10:40It wasn't very long ago, and I'm still radicalized and angry about it, that they

10:45were all lecturing us. Remember when they would say, Buck, my mask protects you and

10:50your mask protects me. Which is why flight attendants were monitoring how long you sipped

10:58from a drink or chewed your peanuts.

11:00I guess they don't have peanuts anymore because of all the peanut allergies, your pretzels

11:04on the airplane and walking around and saying, excuse me, sir, excuse me, ma 'am,

11:10you're keeping your mask down for too long.

11:13So if you truly believe that masks were important, shouldn't you be applauding the fact

11:19that the ICE agents were wearing their masks in the airport?

11:22Isn't wearing their masks keeping you safe?

11:26That is what they argued with us six years ago.

11:29And I'm still not going to forget it because they were such draconian, awful authoritarians

11:36for that entire process. And now many of them just want to pretend that it

11:41never happened. It's also a perfect example of this tells you everything you need to

11:46know. So if someone is currently walking through an airport anywhere in America wearing a

11:51cloth mask and they have an opinion of any kind on politics and they maybe

11:58just don't know anything and that's why they're wearing the mask.

12:00They could just be wildly ignorant of all things.

12:02That's possible. But if they have an opinion on, say, ICE, 100 % chance, 100

12:08% chance that they are outraged about what happened in Minneapolis.

12:14Wearing a mask to protect you from germs, which does not work.

12:17It does not work. It never worked.

12:20It's very obvious. People, what about surgeons during?

12:22Yeah, because they're up close and they have saliva and stuff could fall into the

12:25wound. That's a different thing.

12:26But anyway, doesn't work, Clay, and yet 100 % chance that they're very upset about

12:33Trump. There is not a single Republican in America right now walking around, not a

12:38single Trump voter in an airport with a mask on who's like, COVID is still

12:42real. That's right. That's 100 % true.

12:45And so I do think it's funny that these are the people that are claimed

12:48to be the most outraged and upset and terrified of the fact that ICE is

12:53acting as they are in airports.

12:55Which, by the way, doesn't mean that everything's going to get better.

12:59It's just kind of a bandage to help with the disaster that Democrats have created.

13:06And if you're standing in a line, and I know that some of you are,

13:10as you listen to us, you're headed into airports.

13:14Honestly, if I were thinking about Buck traveling to Houston, New Orleans, New York City,

13:20Atlanta, based on some of the information that I have seen over the past few

13:24years, I wouldn't go. So if I had a trip scheduled right now to land

13:28at IAH in Houston, and I knew I was going to have to fly back

13:31out, I would not go.

13:32If I were headed to Atlanta, I wouldn't go.

13:34If I were headed to New York City, I wouldn't go.

13:37I just, I'm not willing to stand in line for hours.

13:41There are very few trips that are so necessary to make that I would be

13:47willing to stand in line for hours to make them.

13:51All very good points. We'll come into some of your calls and talkbacks here about

13:55all this. Maybe some of you, maybe one of you listening wants to solve a

13:58massive problem in America. Get the attention of the White House and get yourself a

14:01signed Trump hat. Just throwing it out there, you know?

14:05It happened once, it could happen again.

15:32Let's talk straight of Hormuz, the conflict with Iran, and bring in our friend Steve

15:37Yates. He's a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a former Bush national security official.

15:45And Steve, just take us through as you see it here.

15:49We know Hormuz is a choke point.

15:52Why is this so complicated?

15:55What do you think can be done about it?

15:58How do we resolve this thing?

15:59I saw an editorial in the journal, Wall Street Journal, saying, you know, we just

16:04got to land troops to secure the strait.

16:06And it's just going to be a quick operation.

16:08And I'm like, whoa, hold on.

16:09Hold on a second. I've heard that before.

16:12What do you think about what's going on here?

16:15Well, Buck, as you know, it's a very confined geography.

16:19That's one of them. major challenges.

16:21It's a very long strip of waterway where Iran has shoreline all along one side.

16:28There are some very, very wealthy neighbors on the other side of that water that

16:31would like to get their energy out to market.

16:34And then it goes through this very narrow strait that is a choke point.

16:39There's an island in the middle of it that Trump has hit some military targets

16:43on and has talked about maybe taking control over that is responsible for refining and

16:48has an extremely high proportion of Iran's oil endowment.

16:53So I think people who say this is a simple military operation might be underselling

16:57it a bit. They are so close to Iran geographically that even with remnants, you

17:02might still get hit. And I think that's why President Trump has done this maximum

17:06pressure, but then pull back and say, if we can get a deal that gets

17:11them to relent and we reopen things, then we're in a better place.

17:16And he also has pressured allies to say, you know, we have a really small

17:19American percentage of this oil.

17:21You guys come in and shepherd your vessels out of here and the Iranians shouldn't

17:26shoot at you. And so I think there's these at least two layers that really

17:31need to get handled before the curve is turned on this.

17:34Steve, I think a lot of our listeners are just not very familiar with the

17:39Strait of Hormuz in general.

17:41Based on my reading, the vast majority of oil and gas that is coming through

17:45the Strait of Hormuz has no impact on the United States oil and gas marketplace

17:50at all. And I think much of it ends up going to China.

17:55With that in context, to what extent actually should this be a larger global issue?

18:03A lot of the focus has been on the United States oil and gas market,

18:06but really it's more of a global issue than it is a United States one.

18:11Well, Clay, that's right. But first and foremost, oil is a fungible good, which is

18:15a fancy word of meaning.

18:17It can it can shift in value and get sold and bought in any number

18:21of different ways. And so when oil goes out of this restricted area and goes

18:27to China, that affects global supply in the market and it affects prices.

18:31And so any release of resources out of this conflict zone will have downward pressure

18:37on price in some measure.

18:39It's definitely the case that China is the overwhelming buyer of Iran oil, partly because

18:44it's been sanctioned for a long time and they've gotten it at a discount.

18:47President Trump is trying to remove that discount and get them to pay for a

18:51little bit of the security freight.

18:53India also depends on a good bit of this too.

18:56But it's definitely one of these global commons issues of where Europeans depend to some

19:01degree and Asian major powers depend in a large degree in America's providing them a

19:06service that Trump aims to pay, get them to pay a bill for.

19:10Steve, how do you assess the Trump?

19:14I'm going to speaking from the Trump perspective here, said we're going to hit the

19:19energy facilities, power plants, I believe, and energy facilities in Iran unless they open the

19:27strait. But then we heard there's some back channel negotiations.

19:30So he has put that red line or he has moved that timeline down a

19:36bit. How do you think this is going?

19:38Is it possible to read into this?

19:40I mean, I know with Trump, I feel like part of the strategy is actually

19:45a little bit of the perception of chaos that the opposition can take from his

19:51statements. What do you think about what he's doing?

19:54Well, Buck, you know, from people who've been longtime practitioners, we think of this as

19:58somewhat straight statecraft, I think of it as Trumpcraft.

20:02He hits like a sledgehammer, and then he'll pull back and he'll look for where

20:06are their deals. And he recognizes just common sense that if we can get them

20:11to relent and engage in some kind of a verifiable deal, that is safer, more

20:16endurable. And it's a much preferable path to go down.

20:20At the same time, even though his critics will never recognize it, he's being reasonable.

20:25He's giving them off ramps every step along this way so that if they miss

20:29this deadline, and I suspect they might miss this deadline, Trump will hit them hard.

20:34But he's tried to leave the civilian energy infrastructure intact so that post -conflict reconstruction

20:41is cheaper and better for the people of Iran if they can take their country.

20:47So he's trying to do them a solid.

20:48Hopefully they recognize it. But I would make no mistake about it.

20:52This deadline passes very much further.

20:54Trump's going to hit them hard.

20:55And that is kind of a classical form of warfare.

20:58You take the energy out to end the war machine.

21:01That's how you get total surrender.

21:03We're talking to Stevie Yates.

21:05As we've been talking to you in the last, I don't know, 10, 15 minutes,

21:09the story from the Wall Street Journal, U .S.

21:12has ordered 3 ,082nd airborne soldiers to the Middle East.

21:17Trump has given Iran a Friday deadline.

21:21What do you think it would look like if there were to be a raid?

21:27And I say raid because I don't think we're going to be setting up bases

21:29in Iran that potentially could involve Karj Island or putting troops to try to protect

21:36the Strait of Hormuz. In a big picture sense, what might that look like?

21:41And obviously, Trump is at least threatening that he might do so with these actions.

21:47Well, I do think the Carb Island option is very much front and center.

21:52I really don't like the option personally of the U .S.

21:56being kind of the sole provider of security in this.

21:59It really should be something that is a shared responsibility, especially among those Gulf allies

22:05who have been hit by Iran and now say they're going to hit back and

22:08they need to provide security for their flows to go to market.

22:12So I really hope the president is working behind the scenes to get them involved

22:16so that there's skin in the game in every sense.

22:18And it's not just American targets for Iran, Iranian forces to hit.

22:23We would have to just knock the crap out of their coastline to have a

22:27safe buffer buffer for ships.

22:29And we'd probably have to occupy Carb Island to control that.

22:33Do we have a sense we're speaking to Stephen Yates, senior fellow at the Heritage

22:37Foundation, national security expert. Steve, do we have a sense of what the acceptable endgame

22:46is here? Again, Trump has indicated numerous times of an endgame or what maybe it

22:53looks like, depending on the day.

22:56But I think there's variations on a theme here.

22:59Where do you think what do you think would be acceptable for this to get

23:03to at least a ceasefire and some next phase?

23:07Right. Well, Buck, I think of it as getting to a de -escalation point that

23:10sort of pivots into longer term maintenance.

23:13And I think President Trump has been clear about some of the standards.

23:16One has been hyper focused on the nuclear programs.

23:20That's combined U .S. and Israeli operations that might involve having to have some forces,

23:25hopefully not ours, but some forces going in to physically control and verify disarmament in

23:32those sensitive facilities. The launch capabilities, complete defanging of the security forces.

23:37I think that's also been more the Israeli mission in recent days.

23:41So I think it's overwhelmingly getting the flow of resources, not just because we love

23:48oil, although that's a good thing to love to keep the world running.

23:51It's to make it so that markets calm, resources flow, and there's a sense of

23:56where we can get post major military operations.

23:59I think that we should and must get there in the next week or two,

24:03and that's where we'll get a sense of is this tipping into a more complex

24:09entanglement, or have we really hit all those targets that the Secretary of War and

24:14the President have said we have?

24:16Trump has been talking about doing this since the 1980s.

24:19There have been people out there who have said, oh, he only did this because

24:23of Israel. Buck and I have talked about this.

24:25I'm curious how you would analyze the likelihood of this.

24:28I can see a world where the United States says, hey, we've done everything we

24:32want to do, and pulls back, and Israel continues to hit Iran.

24:37What do you think the likelihood of that is, that this union of attack eventually

24:41turns into a solitary attack from Israel?

24:46Well, I 100 % agree that it's going to change.

24:49I don't want it to be solitary in the sense that I really seriously hope

24:53that our regional partners play more of a role in constructively shaping the security and

24:58economic environment there after major military operations wind down.

25:03I believe completely the President has his set of clear objectives.

25:07He wants to make sure there's a return on the investment, but he's definitely, I

25:12think, going to be looking in the shorter -term horizon, whereas Israel and maybe some

25:16other partners really need to do the constant gardening in the longer term.

25:20We can hit every once in a while when necessary.

25:23I think that's appropriate for the United States as a superpower, but we can't be

25:27the one that's micromanaging this, even in the months, much less years range, going after

25:32this. What does a realistic future of the Iranian state look like that would be

25:41clear evidence that the Trump plan here has worked?

25:47I mean, essentially, Steve, what is, yeah, victory for us is obviously straight up.

25:52Hormuz is open, oil is flowing, we have some kind of, as you said, a

25:56de -escalation agreement, got to figure out what the Israelis are going to do in

25:59this as well. I figure there's going to be some high -level, the highest -level

26:03talks between Trump and Netanyahu on this.

26:05But is there a world in which we decide we can live with the mullahs

26:10still kind of in charge, but they're just really wimpy and frightened mullahs?

26:15Or is it some kind of a pathway to a representative democracy, maybe overseen by

26:23some Arab League transition process?

26:27I mean, I'm basically asking you to fix the Middle East here, but we had

26:29a lady call in and fix the DHS problem with TSA.

26:33So, you know, you've been doing this for like 30, 40 years, Steve.

26:37You tell me, how does the next phase of Iran look if this all goes

26:40according to plan? Well, Buck, the first sign I'm looking for is an actual human

26:45being with a name that is the person or group that President Trump has been

26:50negotiating with, directly or indirectly.

26:53I think for their own life's sake, they have kept this person anonymous, a lot

26:59of speculation. But really, if there's going to be a soft transition, it's going to

27:04have to be into the hands of some entity that's recognizable so that we and

27:08others in the international community can make deals that ensure the peace and get through

27:13this transition. So first... We're going to have to see who's the they when President

27:18Trump says they have made a commitment to denuclearize.

27:21That would be a major win if that's true.

27:24And I believe the president is hearing that.

27:26But complete, verifiable, irreversible dismantlement of that program is a 30 -plus year -long objective.

27:32If President Trump did that in a month or two, that's borderline miraculous.

27:37And so getting that person identified, that group identified, and then international peacekeepers or verifiers,

27:44that's where we can go back to the allies and say, you guys have got

27:46to come up with a coalition that does this.

27:48You run into problems. We might be your 9 -1 -1.

27:51But we're not your daily daddy.

27:53Last question, CV8s. There are reports that Saudi Arabia is encouraging Trump to keep pouring

28:01on the steel, so to speak, on Iran.

28:05UAE, Qatar, based on reports, kicking Iranian diplomats out of their country.

28:13Is the most under -discussed part of this entire attack how much support there is

28:19for it from so -called other Arab Muslim countries?

28:23Clay, that's ultimately been the biggest rebuttal to this idea that it was somehow Israel

28:29that on its own dragged us into this.

28:31For years, I have heard from Arab allies deep, deep concerns.

28:36And it was, frankly, welcomed by then when Trump 1 .0 brought in the maximum

28:40pressure campaign to get away from the Obama -Iran nuclear deal.

28:46They were the key drivers that made the Abraham Accords a reality.

28:51It was, yes, the U .S.

28:53and Israel involved, and very much so.

28:55But it was Arab allies that pushed very, very hard in this.

28:58And this really ultimately gets back to Trumpcraft 1 .0.

31:24One bit of news being reported as we speak.

31:27This is according to Axios.

31:30The U .S. and a group of regional mediators are discussing the possibility of holding

31:35high -level peace talks with Iran as soon as Thursday, but are still waiting for

31:41an official response from Tehran.

31:43Two sources with knowledge of the discussion tell Axios.

31:49We will see what is going on on airports.

31:53We've got some updates for you from across the nation, but we bring in now

31:57Senator Marsha Blackburn of the great state of Tennessee.

32:02And I know yesterday, Senator Blackburn, you were with President Trump as he toured Memphis,

32:07including Graceland, and talked about the massive decline that we have seen in overall violent

32:13crime since there was a surge of federal support.

32:17You represent the state. You were just there.

32:19What should people know nationwide about what's happening in Memphis?

32:24Memphis is the model, Clay.

32:27If you want to get crime down in your city, look at what Memphis has

32:32done and the partnership that is there with local, state, and federal elected officials and

32:37local, state, and federal agencies all working together, and it takes it all.

32:43as a team. And when Cash Patel and Pam Bondi were coming through their confirmations

32:49for FBI and Attorney General, I asked each of them and then got a public

32:57commitment from them to help us.

32:59They jumped in. They worked with their agencies.

33:03Federal agencies worked with the local police.

33:06They worked with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and National Guard and Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.

33:13Our U .S. Attorney, our U .S.

33:15Marshal, and 30 federal agencies on the ground working, helping.

33:21And because of that, in under six months, we have cut the crime rate in

33:27Memphis by half. And Memphis is on its way from being the most dangerous city

33:33per capita in the country to being one of the safest cities.

33:38That shows you when the people with a Democrat mayor, Democrat elected, Democrat police chief

33:45stand up and say, we are going to work with these resources, with these agencies,

33:53with all of these elected officials.

33:55We are going to do this for the good of the people.

33:59Then this is the type result that you get.

34:02Hey, Senator Blackburn, it's Buck.

34:04This is such a remarkable story.

34:05We've seen similar numbers in D .C.

34:08And I know as the crime stats are compiled from cities where there's been this

34:13federal intervention to bring crime down, we're going to keep seeing this.

34:18But I think you laid into a critical point there, which is that these are

34:22this is a Democrat controlled cities still, they were willing to work with the federal

34:27government to bring the crime rate down.

34:30Is there any hope in your mind that we might see this then in some

34:35other Democrat controlled cities? Because if you're the mayor, you know, maybe you have aspirations

34:41to be a governor or a senator, perhaps in a state.

34:44But there are a few things that I would believe could be a bigger benefit

34:48to any mayor than be able to look at his constituents when he wants or

34:52she wants to run for reelection and say, yeah, we brought the violent crime rate

34:56down 50 percent. And that is something that is so vitally important.

35:03You know, the people that came to the roundtable we did in Memphis yesterday had

35:08remarkable stories. And the people that were in the room, Buck, you would have loved

35:14listening to these people. They weren't partisan.

35:18They were citizens of the city of Memphis who have dealt with this crime issue.

35:23And for them to be able to talk about sitting on their porch, a small

35:27and drinking a glass of tea and not worrying about a bullet coming through the

35:32house for them to talk about being a small business owner and not having landscaping

35:37equipment or delivery equipment stolen or employees not being robbed when they were leaving work.

35:44And hear about children back to class.

35:49They're not skipping school. They are going back to school.

35:53They're not being recruited by gangs because many of these gangs have been run out

35:59of the city of Memphis.

36:02They Memphis has seen more than nine thousand arrests, nine thousand in the last five

36:10months. These are violent criminal arrests.

36:13And you have crime down significantly in every category.

36:18Motor vehicle thefts are down 65 percent in Memphis.

36:23And when you focus on an issue and say we're going to surge and then

36:29once we surge, we're going to look at those results and we're going to figure

36:34out how to sustain that good work.

36:39And we're going to do it all in partnership for the safety of the people

36:44of our city. We're talking to Senator Marsha Blackburn.

36:48Right now, as we are speaking to you, Senator Mark Wayne Mullen, one of your

36:53former, I guess I could say now, Senate colleagues, has been sworn in as the

36:58head of DHS. I believe yesterday he was confirmed by a vote of 55, 54

37:03to 45, including your support.

37:05What can you tell us about Mark Wayne Mullen?

37:08What do you think he will be like as DHS head?

37:12He is a very good friend of mine.

37:15Mark Wayne is someone who who is going to work diligently.

37:20He understands how you run a business, how you lead people.

37:25And, you know, that is the most important thing in an organization is knowing how

37:30to lead people and how to manage assets.

37:34And Mark Wayne gets that.

37:36He gets the difference in that.

37:38He is given to protecting our great nation.

37:41He knows and supports President Trump in his America First agenda.

37:47And it was exciting to be on the floor with him last night to have

37:51his family here and to see their excitement as he was named our nation's Secretary

37:57of Homeland Security. Speaking to Senator Marsha Blackburn right now.

38:03And, you know, we are seeing these breaking reports from just today, Senator, about some

38:09of these airports that have been so people.

38:10snarled because of democrats really manufacturing a travel crisis that's what has been going on

38:17but now this ice deployment into these airports has substantially if not completely alleviated that

38:27uh tsa congestion uh this is pretty remarkable i have to ask you center do

38:33you know that there is some belief that this originated with a call in to

38:37the show on friday and clay immediately then took it to fox and then the

38:42president ran with this it looks like this strategy is working it is indeed working

38:49and putting ice over at the airports demand the exits as people walk out of

38:55the secured areas and to prohibit people from running through the entrance into that exit

39:02or through that exit into the secured area to check ids identifications to assist tsa

39:11employees who are overworked right now and we continue to work to try to find

39:16a way to get dh dhs fully funded uh we have a group that has

39:23been working with the white house it is a part of our appropriations committee those

39:28members and they are trying to find a way forward and then we're also discussing

39:34doing a public safety reconciliation where we will look at bolstering the funds that are

39:41necessary to continue the public safety efforts for our nation we're talking to senator marcia

39:48blackburn um you spend a lot of time in washington dc the overall violent crime

39:54rate has collapsed in washington dc you were just in memphis you just shared the

39:58data with us about how much the crime rate has collapsed in memphis isn't it

40:03now the case that using both these cities as sort of experiments for lack of

40:09a better way to describe it that there are tons of cities out there that

40:13if we did the exact same thing we could save a massive amount of lives

40:17shouldn't we just start to apply these lessons nationwide oh yes and when you look

40:23at the difference in memphis and minneapolis think about that one where in memphis they

40:30embraced the help and welcomed the help and then they moved forward with making the

40:36city secure and as i said now 9 000 arrests later and i will also

40:41add in addition to the hundreds of vehicles that have been recovered the hundreds of

40:48weapons that have been taken off the street they have found over 150 missing children

40:54that were being held by people and they have been returned home and as i

41:00said you've got hundreds of children that have gone back to school they're not joining

41:04the gangs and other cities should be looking at this and uh you know you

41:11look at somewhere like chicago or la or san francisco that has such horrific issues

41:18you look at cities that are sanctuary cities for illegal immigration and you say why

41:25are they harboring these criminal illegal aliens and then you look at memphis where citizens

41:32are walking up to you you know people call our office every single day and

41:36they say thank you so much for focusing on memphis for bringing peace to our

41:43city for helping to get the crime down no doubt so much yeah senator uh

41:51by the way congrats on polling i don't know if you comment on polling very

41:55much but i saw that you have a 50 point lead in the upcoming governor's

42:00race uh which will frankly largely be decided in august when the republican primary happens

42:06so congrats on how well that campaign is going well thank you we are working

42:12hard and working to earn every vote and grateful for those good polls that are

42:18coming our way no doubt that is senator marcia blackburn soon to be the next

42:22governor of the great state of tennessee my governor look forward to that uh and

42:26i want to tell you right now if you are watching what is happening all

42:30around the world there are continued attacks on israel from iran as they are firing

42:37weapons into israel with no real regard for where those missiles are headed and if

42:42you are uh paying attention to that at all you probably have also been noticing

42:47that constantly israeli uh citizens have to be running into bomb shelters and one of

42:53the groups that's helping to create bomb shelters international fellowship of christians and jews they're

42:58putting more bomb shelters if you're driving on the road in israel every now and

43:03then there's just a bomb shelter on the side of the road so if you

44:06this news story come out we've been talking about tsa um and ice obviously being

44:11deployed to 13 different airports thanks to linda in arizona who has a hat signed

44:18by president trump on her way um and um i wanted to hit a couple

44:24of things here that i saw this morning as i was uh headed into work

44:28um and today i headed into work on southwest airlines flying down to jacksonville super

44:35smooth um thanks to the southwest crew and also thanks to nashville's tsa no line

44:41at all there when i came through this morning and the guys and gals there

44:44were doing great work even though they're working without pay but this story atlanta i

44:49bet you i don't know if you saw this yet buck delta airlines announced this

44:53week it's suspended its standalone service for members of congress until the tsa is fully

45:00funded i love this great move delta quote due to the impact on resources from

45:07the long -standing government shutdown delta will temporarily suspend specialty services to members of congress

45:15flying delta flying delta next to safety delta's number one priority is taking care of

45:21our people and customers which has become increasingly difficult in the current environment a spokesman

45:28for delta this is from the uh atlanta journal constitution said house and senate members

45:33will now be treated like all flying passengers based on their sky mile status in

45:40other words just like you and me i first of all i don't think i

45:47don't know what you think about this buck i don't think house and senate members

45:50should get special status now if you fly all the time and you're a medallion

45:55member or a frequent flyer whatever the the phrase is that these different airlines use

46:00fine because you're spending a lot of money and they want to treat you better

46:04because you're a valued customer all those things can make sense but there are 535

46:10members of the house and how many people do you think are regularly recognized and

46:18harassed and again you're inside of an airport so we know there's not people with

46:23guns or knives or anything that would make it violent there um i don't know

46:29that they should ever return this privilege and certainly when tsa is not getting paid

46:33i like taking it away but i don't know that they these guys really deserve

46:38special privilege anyway like why can't an average member of congress or the senate stand

46:44in line like everybody else what are your thoughts on this yeah i think it's

46:48a weird almost like a celebrity uh you know fringe benefit that is not there's

46:55no reason i am i am i all in favor of calling out united states

46:59military to the front of the line let them board absolutely for serving in the

47:03military congress yeah some of them serve some of them serve themselves mostly actually they

47:09serve themselves i'm not about to say that they can't be like the rest of

47:13us in fact i think the more that members of congress have to act like

47:16normal people the better for all of us i'm i'm all in favor i for

47:21example hit the roof as so many people did when congress exempted themselves from obamacare

47:27remember that oh yeah of course oh we're gonna force this on all of you

47:30but i mean we're gonna have our gold -plated awesome plans but you can have

47:33the crap plans i i would just continue to say this and i think it

47:37would end lockdowns and shutdowns and everything else once and for all if congress can't

47:43get a budget passed then congress shouldn't get paid period for the whole year like

47:49if you can't your job is to get budgets passed we keep having all these

47:54lockdowns all these shutdowns and people who are normal hard -working uh employees are losing

48:01their ability to get paid so to me if you're in congress and you can't

48:06get a budget passed you shouldn't get paid and i think it would immediately go

48:10away buck i think if if house and senate members had to get a had

48:15to deal with the same things that they're putting other people through i think they

48:20would get paid and look i i think there are house and senate members that

48:24do not have a lot of money right there and those people should be driving

48:28this because if you're having to live on your salary and pay your mortgage and

48:34pay for your kids uh daycare or whatever else then you should understand better than

48:40the average super millionaire uh who is being funded by george soros probably and isn't

48:48having to live on what they actually make it's easier i think for those people

48:52to say hey we're just going to shut down the government what do we care

48:55i think if you started saying congress doesn't get paid for the year that they

49:00shut down i think this would end once and for all and i don't think

49:03it's good our friend senator ron johnson of which Wisconsin has laid out in the

49:07Wall Street Journal, and we've had him on talking about this, a super logical process

49:12for the budget that requires everything to get done.

49:15I was just reading his piece.

49:17He had a good piece about the filibuster over the weekend.

49:20And he said, look, I mean, it's 49 out of 50 states, I think, have

49:25a balanced budget requirement. So state governments tend to balance their budgets.

49:30Go figure. The federal government doesn't.

49:32And I think incompetence should not be rewarded.

49:35And so when I saw this story from Delta Airlines, I said, good for Delta,

49:39because remember, all the CEOs of the airlines came out and said, fun TSA, get

49:44this taken care of. We want this done.

49:47And I just think it's a I just think it's a no brainer.

49:51I don't know that I would return this service if I were Delta candidly.

49:56And so that makes sense to you?

50:00Yeah, absolutely. And I'm glad the airlines are fighting back a little bit here.

50:04But this is nonsense. Because as you all know, the airline employees are taking a

50:08lot of the brunt of this.

50:09You think people are going to be in a good mood when they walk up

50:13to the ticket counter or whatever, or they get on a plane and deal with

50:17the attendance and the pilot crew?

50:19You think people are going to be nice and in a good mood after waiting

50:21four hours in a TSA line?

50:23I mean, I'd be I'd be steaming mad.

50:27Try to be polite to the people had nothing to do with it.

50:29But I think any person would have really had more than their fill.

50:33And the frustration would be boiling over.

50:35So this is this is absolutely the right move for them to do.

50:39And it's also just it's just so classic.

50:41The Democrats are doing this.

50:43And it's it's all based in the lie.

50:47The lie is that somehow this is Republicans creating these lines, because they won't just

50:52bend the knee and let Democrats have control over immigration enforcement.

50:56Yes, that's not the way that this works.

50:57They don't have the executive branch.

51:00The executive branch should not be bending the knee when Democrats are in the minority

51:05to how laws are enforced by federal agencies, because Democrats get sad about the enforcement

51:12of federal law. Sorry. So they're willing to just make people miserable and unhappy and

51:18then lie about who did it.

51:20I just to me, this just shows you what really a an unethical and pretty

51:26depraved party the Democrats have become.

51:28This is the best they can do, because if they were admitting to everybody, yeah,

51:31guys, we're the reason we're so dedicated to illegal aliens that we think we want

51:37to keep so many illegal aliens in this country that we don't even want the

51:41child predators and the gang members and the murderers to be deported.

51:46We want to keep them all.

51:47We want to keep all those illegals.

51:49So you're waiting in line because Democrats don't want any of those illegals, even the

51:54worst of the worst illegals, sent back to the countries that are actually the countries

51:58that they belong in. If they were willing to do that, Clay, I would say,

52:02all right, but they're not right.

52:04They're playing a game here.

52:05And the game is, oh, we're willing to open up the TSA if only Republicans

52:09would play play ball with us.

52:12Like, what are you talking about?

52:13What are you really standing for?

52:15By the way, President Trump is speaking right now.
