2:38Today, we are just going to get into, like, all the D .C.

2:41gossip because it's just kind of overflowing right now.

2:45And I feel like there's a lot of people out there reporting on it.

2:47But I just heard about this new site.

2:49It's called Sources Say. And I have the founder here with me today.

2:54Her name is Julie Grace Brufke.

2:56Julie, thank you so much for joining me.

2:59This is, like, a gossip girl for politics, I guess.

3:02But I think it's, for those of us who have been in politics for many

3:06years, like, why does nobody talk about this?

3:09This is, everybody calls D .C.

3:11the Hollywood for ugly people, and they want to be out there in the gossip

3:14column. So you've done it.

3:16You've brought it to us.

3:18Well, I feel like Capitol Hill is such, like, a giant high school in the

3:21way it all intertwines the White House.

3:23And it's like, I feel like we needed something a little more gossip early.

3:25Like, New York's got page six, and L .A.'s got TMZ, and I felt like

3:30we kind of needed something of that ilk.

3:32Plus, like, I feel like the way policy gets passed a lot of time is

3:34all due to the petty, like, a lot of it changes due to the petty

3:38drama behind the scenes of who's fighting with who, who's sleeping with who, et cetera.

3:41Where, like, might as well put it out there and show people how the sausage

3:44gets made on occasion. Well, that's what I think people should know, because I don't

3:49think anybody knows that there is a—well, we've heard for years that there's this congressional

3:55slush fund. We remember when the page program was shut down because there were congressmen

4:01that were playing with the pages and shouldn't have been grooming, essentially, the pages, and

4:06that came out. But then it was really, like, that was kind of, like, pushed

4:12aside. And people—I will say, it seems like Washington, D .C.

4:16has been a safe place for playboys and playgirls for way too long.

4:21And now suddenly there's you, we're seeing TMZ there, and people are going, this is

4:26actually a really good scoop because the American people are paying their salaries.

4:31This isn't Hollywood. We pay these people to go there and work.

4:35I mean, it's wild. I was actually working on writing an op -ed earlier on

4:38just kind of the entire infrastructure, I feel like, of D .C.

4:40You've got people—it's kind of a perfect storm where you've got people away from their

4:43families. They're out drinking at receptions every night.

4:46You have, like, a bunch of people that some might argue are probably nerds in

4:49high school and college that all of a sudden have people that are really impressed

4:52by having power, where you've got young staffers all of a sudden that there's a

4:59tension there that may not have been there earlier in earlier years, where you kind

5:03of see these sex scandals emerge and power get to people's heads, where I think

5:08it's kind of an interesting ecosystem.

5:11Plus, you've got a bunch of staffers that are inclined to want to keep their

5:14jobs where they want to protect their bosses.

5:16So it's kind of a change— Okay, so that's what I—that I want to get

5:20into because that's where we go, how does this happen?

5:22Like the Eric Swalwell situation where he's hooking up with all these people.

5:27And it's like they're so arrogant.

5:29They're doing it right in front of people.

5:31They're having people to their homes and having big parties.

5:34And multiple congressmen are there doing this.

5:37I mean, this goes back to the Bill Clinton days of people going, how did

5:40he end up having Monica Lewinsky there?

5:43And nobody said anything because nobody talks.

5:45Because why? They're scared to talk because then you'd never work again because everybody just

5:49has to take it and look away.

5:53I feel like to some extent it's like we saw with the Eric Swalwell thing

5:56where all of a sudden you see people who are like, oh, I figured out

5:59who this woman is, where these people are doxed.

6:01And I feel like you hear all these things about these women that are being

6:04accused of making it a whole political thing or, oh, he must be being paid

6:08by like a political opponent.

6:10But I think really, I mean, having covered scandals for a long time, people often

6:14don't speak out until there's really like a time of consequence when it's what we

6:18saw with Swalwell where it's like this man looks like he really is going to

6:21be governor. Where all of a sudden these women would feel compelled to come forward.

6:24And covering the Tony Gonzalez stuff, I mean, I talked to a staffer that worked

6:28for him. It's like, I feel like it's my civic duty to come out and

6:31put this all out there because he shouldn't be in Congress.

6:36And after that happened, I spoke to the woman, his former staffer that he was

6:40having an affair with, a widower who had sent me all those text messages of

6:44him kind of coercing this woman into this prior to her suicide, which is, I

6:49mean, it's really a tragic story.

6:50But I mean, I think people really when it looks like things are really going

6:54to become real and people are going to stay in power, feel compelled to speak

6:57out. So I think that's fascinating because this is a side we hadn't really heard.

7:02Tony Gonzalez, Republican. I think he has six kids, right?

7:05He's married with six kids and he was having an affair with a staffer.

7:10But he really wants her widower put out these messages to you.

7:14We start to actually see how this happens, because it seemed like from what I

7:19read on your site that she was starting out like, hey, boss, you're taking this

7:24too far. Like, hey, can we can we back off of this?

7:27But you get and I think as women, we know how this goes, too.

7:32You get pushed and pushed and you're in an awkward situation and then you're in

7:36a situation where you're like, man, if I leave, I'm in trouble.

7:39If I stay, I'm in trouble.

7:41You're backed into a corner.

7:43And people don't believe that.

7:44But it really is a horrible position for men in power to put women into.

7:50Absolutely, because these women are worried about their reputations.

7:53They're worried about, am I not going to have a job reference?

7:55If I leave, am I going to be able to get another job in politics?

7:58And I think that's like a real fear.

7:59I think a lot of these people, they've got everything to lose.

8:03It's just why so many people don't speak out on these things and then often

8:07get a lot of pushback once they do.

8:08So it's I mean, you can see why a lot of people don't speak out.

8:13I mean, I saw a Politico reporter that said that they had back when Eric

8:16Swalwell was running for president, a whole story ready to go.

8:19And then once he was just going to stay in Congress, they dropped the story

8:21because they said there wasn't as much interest.

8:23And it's I mean, he's still a member of Congress.

8:25So, you know, I feel like these people do have a real impact on how

8:28things are run in this country where it's sad more of it doesn't come out

8:33sooner. Well, and you made a point about both Swalwell and Gonzalez.

8:37They have money in their congressional fund, I guess, in their in their campaign accounts.

8:43They still have a couple hundred thousand dollars.

8:46Now, they gave some of the money he, Tony Gonzalez, gave some of the money

8:50to NRCC, but still has a couple hundred thousand dollars left.

8:54You have to ask the question, does he think he'll come back?

8:57Because it can be that memories can be long, but memories can be short in

9:01Washington, too. And people think they can just make a comeback and go right back

9:06into it. I mean, we've seen some wild comebacks over the years.

9:09So it's I mean, nothing's out of the realm of possibility.

9:12I mean, I don't think he was particularly popular with his colleagues beforehand.

9:15So I feel like that's definitely kind of a long shot there.

9:18And within his district, I mean, just talking to local politicians in Texas, I think

9:22those odds are low. But I mean, I spoke to a member the other day

9:26that was like, what does Swalwell do next?

9:27Does he convert some of the PAC money and just try and pay himself a

9:30salary out of that? Because who's going to hire him?

9:34Yeah, right. I that's true.

9:37So how how significant do you think that this is right now, though?

9:41I mean, we've heard, like I said, the Bill Clinton stories of the past.

9:44We've certainly heard stories in the past.

9:47And we've heard actually that Nancy Pelosi, when she was speaker, had like this binder

9:51of sins, like the sin binder.

9:54You know, like if you tried to go against her in a vote, she pulled

9:56out the sin binder and be like, and this is what I have on you.

10:00And therefore, you will not vote against me.

10:05I mean, I think the leadership to an extent knows about things.

10:08I know I spoke with leadership because I had first heard about the Tony Gonzalez

10:11stuff back late September, early October and did a story on it.

10:14I think really until the receipts were out there, it's like people close to this

10:17woman just speaking out on background wasn't enough to like really get people to notice

10:22to some extent. And I think for a while, it almost seemed like people were

10:25just really so jaded by sex scandals and everyone was desensitized to it.

10:30And I think the Swalwell stuff was kind of the first time in a long

10:33time I've seen real consequences for anything, probably since the Me Too movement.

10:38It's interesting because it feels like this is the time for that to happen.

10:41It feels like it's the time for, you know, I think it's hard for women

10:44to speak out, but I think male colleagues should be the ones that are stepping

10:49forward and saying that we've.

10:50seen mistreatment and this shouldn't happen.

10:52And we want to protect our female colleagues.

10:54And I say that because women do have consequences when they come forward.

10:59And it is time for the men to stand against this.

11:02And it's interesting because I was reading in, at Sources Say, that there's this, like,

11:09is it, I would say, prostitutes that these congressmen are going to?

11:15Where you were talking about, like, there's a site where you see they comment on

11:21what happened? Oh, it's wild.

11:23So I've been working on a book proposal on political sex scandal, like modern political

11:28sex scandals. And I met up with a few sources on this and they're like,

11:33oh, you've got to try this app out.

11:34It's a reverse phone number lookup that prostitutes use essentially to leave reviews on their

11:38johns and for safety reasons.

11:40So I was like, oh, I should go, like, look at every member of the

11:42house on here. So I was like sitting by the pool this summer, just like

11:45copy paste, copy paste. And I was like, more than you'd think people on there.

11:51So it's, yeah, this is something I just so people understand, this is something that

11:57I when I was running for office, I think it was right after I was

12:00running for office, we had heard that someone who had been in Michigan and gone,

12:06been in Michigan as an elected gone to Washington and kind of worked after that

12:11because, you know, electeds often go on to have lobbying jobs or whatever, and was

12:16kind of a kind of frequented the like prostitution realm of the Washington, D .C.

12:22area. And we were I thought that was, you know, I had this naive view

12:27that that was something that doesn't happen anymore, that doesn't actually exist anymore.

12:31And then when I saw that on your site, I was like, oh, my gosh,

12:35this is a serious issue.

12:37And I think you're right there.

12:38It is a weird job where you leave your family, you're you're there all week,

12:43you're home just for the weekends.

12:44And oftentimes you have to be there over the weekend.

12:47But it still blows my mind that people get elected on working for the people

12:53and have a family picture on their site.

12:56And then they go and see a prostitute when they get to Washington.

13:01Yeah, it's definitely pretty horrifying.

13:02I feel like there's literally nothing that anytime I say, nothing can shock me in

13:05Washington anymore, something really bizarre comes out.

13:07So it's probably shouldn't jinx it.

13:09But it can always get weirder is my takeaway.

13:12And I mean, not everyone on Capitol Hill is a bad guy.

13:14There are a lot of really good people.

13:15Right. Yes. We have to say they're not not everybody is doing this.

13:19But I mean, it's more than it should be.

13:23And I mean, I feel like some point you see staff get impacted, families get

13:28impacted where I mean, I feel like at some point there should be voters should

13:33care about kind of some of these people's moral compass.

13:36It's yeah, it's I think we're definitely seeing I'm definitely getting a lot of oppo

13:41files I need to sort through in the past week since the small stuff broke.

13:45So it's it's gonna be interesting.

13:47So in the midst of that, I think there is you you have a little

13:50bit on your site about Congressman Corey Mills and then Congresswoman.

13:55What is the woman's name who has the COVID embezzlement?

14:00Yeah, in Florida, she's the millions of dollars in FEMA funding from COVID back in

14:05the day that I mean, I've talked to members on both sides of the aisle

14:09that are like, feel she's clear.

14:11I mean, the ethics committee said they found that she was guilty on 25.

14:15She's dealing with the whole criminal charges, too, which I know her lawyers have really

14:19pushed back on all the ethics and talk of expulsion for because they feel like

14:22that could impact her criminal trial.

14:24But yeah, things are not looking good for if she's still in Congress in a

14:27few weeks. I think I'd be surprised since I know both sides are pretty concerned

17:46That's, I mean, what do the Democrats think about that?

17:49Because she's a Democrat, correct?

17:52Yeah, I mean, there's so much evidence there.

17:54And I feel like, having spoken to like leadership sources on both sides of the

17:58aisle, I mean, Tony Gonzalez and Eric Swalwell, they didn't mess with the margins.

18:01And I mean, there's also talk of potential expulsion for Corey Mills.

18:04We'll see what happens on that front.

18:06And there's some members say we should see how the ethics committee kind of pans

18:10out on that. But I know there's a lot of members that are frustrated because

18:13the whole ethics investigation process just takes so long that sometimes it's like these people

18:17don't run again and you don't really ever get to see what was actually going

18:22on there. Well, and I think that was somewhat of the frustration with Swalwell and

18:27Gonzalez both resigning immediately because then the ethics process just stops.

18:34Yeah, which I mean, I think both of them were concerned about what was going

18:38to come out because clearly there are a ton of receipts and no shortage of

18:41individuals willing to come forward at that point.

18:44I mean, I think a lot of times with these scandals too, once one person

18:46comes out and speaks, there's oftentimes a pattern where other people feel compelled to speak

18:51out, which I feel like we definitely saw with Swalwell and we saw with Tony

18:54Gonzalez. There was another staffer that he was trying to solicit photos from inappropriately.

18:59So it's... And that's true.

19:02I mean, once you've heard someone and you feel like, I'm not alone in this

19:05and people should know, I think there is also a certain amount of feeling like,

19:11did I do something that caused this person to do this?

19:14Am I the only person that they're doing?

19:15And then once you find out there's multiple people that have had this happen, there's

19:19power in numbers. I mean, there is a reality.

19:22There's power in numbers. When you talk about Corey Mills, though, give us a little

19:25bit of information. I think not many people are aware of what he's...

19:30What the ethics committee would be looking at and what is happening with him.

19:34I mean, he's kind of been under the radar, but he has been in quite

19:37a bit of trouble. Yeah, I mean, the allegations against him are pretty grave.

19:42So he, I mean, right now he has one girlfriend that a judge granted an

19:46active restraining order to for threatening to release inappropriate photos of her with revenge porn

19:52and had been threatening her with all sorts of other things and sending her pictures

19:56of guns. And I know, having spoken to some of these women, there were multiple

20:02women that he was dating, that I know, having spoken to them, that he kind

20:06of said that he was fully divorced at that point, that he was kind of

20:09misleading on that front. He got divorced about two months ago.

20:13So I was actually just recently looking through all the divorce files.

20:17But he was also allegedly actively arms dealing while in the house, which is also

20:21a huge issue. And he had multiple sources who were on a trip to outside

20:29of Afghanistan trying to evacuate people out during that whole fiasco while people were trapped

20:34over there, where they sent me a picture of him with what they said was

20:37a foreign prostitute and said they were concerned about him getting security briefings and having

20:41access to that information because they were worried about honeypot situations.

20:44So he also had allegations of meeting his ex -girlfriend, which the Washington Post actually

20:50broke over the weekend. But I mean, that information was out there, but they got

20:53the body cam footage and it was shown that the police wanted to make it,

20:58they kind of lowered the charges there.

21:01But yeah, the whole thing is an absolute mess.

21:03So if I'm remembering this correctly, we were thinking he was, maybe I'm wrong, weren't

21:08we thinking he was like a hero for going and saving people?

21:11Right. There's just some like stolen valor allegations out there.

21:15I've got a big oppophile yesterday that I'm still combing through.

21:19But I mean, I've talked to a lot of people close to him and they're

21:22like, there are financial issues, there are personal issues.

21:24He is a ticking time bomb in a relatively swingy seat.

21:27I think he's in like an R plus seven, which in a midterm year, you

21:32never know what's going to happen there.

21:33We're, I mean, I know leadership's been aware of this for a long time.

21:38So it's, having spoken to the female members of the month.

21:41What a crazy cover though.

21:41Like I'm going to go save kids and people from other countries that are in

21:45danger. and then on the side i'll sell arms i mean that's crazy like it's

21:50absolutely it's a wild oppo file but i mean it's amazing like you see you

21:56look at guys like eric swalwell you know like they clearly know they have this

22:00baggage it's not a secret to themselves to have like the arrogance to go run

22:03for a higher office and think none of this is going to come out is

22:08also just i mean like you've gotten away with it for so long that's that's

22:12what i think is when i look when i hear these stories i'm like i

22:17think that people once i've gotten away with something for such a long period of

22:20time they look at it and they're like i'm safe from this i can just

22:23keep going there's i'm untouchable i can just continue and he was so vocal against

22:29the epstein files but he's a total creep or it seems allegedly he's a total

22:34creep i mean sometimes it seems like to his wife so he must be somewhat

22:40of a creep that was i mean the i did nothing wrong but i'm i'm

22:45sorry honey video is wild like i and i mean you saw like and i've

22:50spoken to people that are very close with him democrats that were friends with him

22:53that were like okay i knew he wasn't a saint but you don't want to

22:56necessarily think someone you're friends with is getting has been there for you at times

23:01should be capable of being a complete monster where i think a lot of these

23:04people have been were like knew maybe he was up to some things but not

23:10aware of the extent of it where i think i mean to be out there

23:14allegedly drugging women is just i mean that is insane i know i know and

23:21that is it's very hard i think you know the playboy you almost feel like

23:27there is always this playboy mentality amongst men who have power not always but there's

23:34it's easy to understand this playboy mentality amongst men with power i guess but to

23:42drug people that is it's so sick it's the it's like my worst nightmare you

23:48know that you end up in a situation where someone robs you of something so

23:53personal and in such a violent horrible way i mean he is that is you

24:00should go to prison for doing that and and i hope that if that is

24:03the case that he does go to prison um he is just one of of

24:09many people that we're starting to hear about though you've got like george santos who's

24:13out there like oh he's not the only one you've got madison catherine is like

24:17he's not alone but that is that also to a certain extent makes me although

24:21i saw george santos did like some big dump the other night last night i

24:25think it was of a bunch of people and but i'm like if you know

24:29say it who is it i mean it's like over the years i mean i've

24:36been covering capitol hill for a long time it's like they have dealt with no

24:39shortage of weird sources getting weird on you but it's a i mean it really

24:42is egregious to see i mean particularly the swalwell stuff reading that one story where

24:47he had a young staffer in his car and was trying to solicit oral sex

24:51allegedly is i mean horrifying for him to get that and say there was no

24:55wrongdoing in his office is i mean if that is the case which i mean

24:59it sounded credible i that's horrifying well and you you said something earlier but no

25:09matter what age like you should never be put in that position a man should

25:13never feel like he can put you in that position and that's what i mean

25:18when you you talk to the widower it just feels like how did it happen

25:22that this woman was clearly devastated by this i mean the way she committed suicide

25:27is so horrific and again he robbed her of every sense of herself well then

25:35for him to go out there and try and blame the husband and try and

25:38blame the media and he was on a podcast saying this is a media hit

25:42job when more and taking aim at the husband saying that he was going after

25:48money i mean if someone dies and you have a child i mean clearly well

25:51it's not what i think people want to be thinking about in that moment trying

25:56to figure out security for your kid and what's going to happen monetarily doesn't seem

26:00like out of the realm of normalcy right exactly um one of the things you

26:08said earlier is that a lot of these people have it is like a high

26:13school but it's almost like they maybe they were the smart kid in high school

26:17or the geeky kid in high school and now they get this power they go

26:21to washington dc and the tables are turned and that that is in some cases

26:26a bad situation but i was actually talking to someone over the weekend about this

26:30and i'm like how how did these guys like they're i mean i hate to

26:36say it but it's not like matthew mcconaughey you know like how did these guys

26:40get these women you know and and swalwell is just so his manner of speaking

26:47is unappealing he's just an unappealing guy he does not come off as someone who

26:52has a lot of swagger so and i'm not saying that that that is the

26:57person who should get away with us but it just makes no sense and it

27:01feels very much like the there is a problem where we are electing people and

27:07i do think that we've become a society where it's like i'm gonna vote for

27:11the person with the r i'm gonna vote with the for the person with the

27:14D, no matter who that person is, because I am so afraid of the politics

27:18of the other person. When do we get back to looking at who the person

27:22is? Because it was pretty obvious that Swalwell was a creep.

27:26I mean, we learned about Fang Fang.

27:28Years, what, 2019, we learned about that.

27:31And that alone, I feel like, should be people go, wait a minute, you were

27:36hooking up with a Chinese spy and you were engaged at the time?

27:40Like, you're a scumbag. Like, it's, I mean, it does kind of pose like how

27:45much more, what should political parties be doing while they're vetting candidates to try and

27:50recruit people, which I think is something maybe they need to look into more just

27:55because it seems like it's gotten increasingly brazen with some of the behavior over the

28:00years. But yeah, I mean, as someone who's interacted and gotten hit on by a

28:03lot of politicians over the years, it's not like these guys have much game.

28:06You know, it's like, not like, I mean.

28:11That's, that's what I'm saying.

28:13I'm like, how is this happening?

28:15Clearly it's, I mean, people in power, I mean, I guess power can be impressive

28:19to people, but it's, yeah, I, I mean, these situations over the past year, I

28:27mean, it seems like it's been, we've seen some stuff break over the years, but

28:31I mean, these, these two instances were just so egregious.

28:34But I think it also poses the question of, there was talk of expulsion and,

28:39and he stepped down before that, same with Tony Gonzalez.

28:42But I mean, similar to like, when people were like, Biden shouldn't be running, but

28:46should he, is he qualified to be president?

28:48I mean, like, at what point do the margins matter?

28:51At what point do you need to have people that aren't complete lunatics that are

28:54in those seats representing the people that elect to bump, you know?

28:57So you obviously, you have, you've figured something out here.

29:00The American people want to know what the people they're sending to Washington are doing.

29:04And now you've created this site.

29:06You, I think you've almost have spurred on TMZ because they have suddenly caught on

29:12to some of the juiciest gossip there is, is in Washington, DC.

29:17And I think that we're, you know, as a society, we, and we love what's

29:22going on with celebrities. You know, we love what's going on with the Royal family.

29:25You obviously have great involvement in reality TV.

29:29You know, the American people watch that.

29:31They love it. It was just a matter of time, in my opinion, that this

29:35would happen, but I think nobody was bold enough to do it.

29:38So I give you major kudos because I think everybody's afraid.

29:41You can't go after Washington.

29:42Washington has all the power, but to see you doing this and to see, what

29:47do you think about TMZ being out there?

29:49I saw the guy from TMZ out there, like talking to the studio and someone

29:54literally told him to like go F himself or something live on TV.

29:58And he was like, I think that's, that's what we're dealing with here.

30:02So what's your take on TMZ coming to the Hill?

30:04I mean, I've kind of been loving their coverage.

30:07I mean, I feel like it's, it's adjacent to what I do, but differing.

30:10I mean, I feel like you chased me down the street, pressuring for questions versus

30:13getting some stuff that's inside the room, which I feel like is a nice compliment

30:16to it. But I mean, I think they are holding some of these people accountable

30:19in a way that they're not used to.

30:20So it's, I mean, yeah, we're in the midst of a government shutdown.

30:24Like, should Lindsey Graham be wandering around with a bubble wand in Disney World?

30:26Probably not. When, why? What, how did he choose that bubble wand?

30:36It can always get weirder.

30:37It really, I mean, I think that they're asking questions that sometimes the Washington press

30:46corps is like, not they're the usual animal they're dealing with, where I feel like

30:51I'm talking to members. They're a little scared of it, which I think might be

30:54a good thing. Hey, it's Ben Ferguson.

34:07That's what actually, that is what has always held people accountable, right?

34:10That holds everybody, the media holds everyone accountable.

34:13And I think that on the right, we've been frustrated just by the policies not,

34:17you know, the policies are not always called out on both sides the way they

34:21should be. So from that standpoint, I think we've been frustrated.

34:24But, I mean, I've loved all the, I think nobody argues with exposing people, whether

34:30it is right or left.

34:31You know, if it's, if it's my congressman that's doing something or someone else's congressman,

34:37if it's a Republican or a Democrat, if they're out there spending a ton of

34:41time at Disney while they're, the TSA agents are not getting paid, or they're on

34:45a luxury vacation in Turks and Caicos, it's like, I want to know what they're

34:50doing because we're, and then there's this idea of like, I didn't take my paycheck,

34:54so I can go. And I think you obviously don't understand the American people because

35:01we're not going on fancy vacations like that right now because we can't afford it.

35:04And, and the TSA agents are helping get your luggage through while you go, they

35:10know who you are. You know, I just think it's a tacky thing regardless.

35:14And I do think that it's time for people to, with the shutdown, it's funny

35:19because like DCA, I feel like is like the one airport that didn't deal with

35:22like any of the giant line issues, which I'm like, naturally Washington.

35:26But I mean, I do feel in a way we're living in time of reality

35:30TV politics where it's, I mean, both sides of the aisle to some extent, where

35:37I interviewed the guy, one of the guys who's on the show Summer House the

35:40other day, it was like, I think Congress is more dramatic than anything that's happening

35:43in the House and the Hamptons movie.

35:45I don't think he's wrong.

35:48That's not even like a partisan take in any way.

35:50But I like, honestly, it's like watching C -SPAN these days between leadership races and

35:55crazy personal life situations and members fighting over different policies.

35:59It's, I think it's an interesting time in politics where I'm like, if I can

36:04cover it in an entertaining way and make people interested and spark some interest and

36:08cover it a little bit like it's Real Housewives, and maybe people can learn some

36:12things along the way. Do you get nervous, though, that you could get backlash?

36:17I don't know. I feel like it's kind of the same stuff I've been talking

36:20about with members and group techs for a long time anyway of like, oh, guess

36:24who's doing what? We're just a little more public now where I think, I think

36:28they'll still hang out with me at happy hour, hopefully.

36:31I mean, I think people are like, gosh, you could have like real backlash, like

36:36people fought, you know, you're going after the government.

36:38And that is scary. I think that people are, I think that's why it hasn't

36:43happened, to be honest. I think no one has been as brave as you.

36:45And I give you a lot of credit for doing this because we do deserve

36:48to know. We do pay these people.

36:50We send them on these vacations.

36:52They're getting to go on these CODELs because of us.

36:56You know, we're footing the bill.

36:58We want to know what's happening.

37:00I mean, to see everybody over in Europe while TSA is not getting paid, while

37:05the people who saved up all year to take their kids on spring break vacation

37:09can't get through TSA and Houston, you know, those people want to know, why are

37:14you on vacation? Why aren't you?

37:16Why? Because this is not how it works in business.

37:18If we can't get a deal done, we don't leave.

37:21We sit at the table until we do get a deal done.

37:23The fact that they think that there's a time for, oh, what?

37:29Five o 'clock rang. We're done.

37:31You know, that's not how the rest of the world works.

37:33And we're sick and tired of D .C.

37:34working that way. I mean, I think hopefully a little sunshine.

37:39Maybe people will start behaving themselves a little more.

37:42We'll see. I feel like we see all these people just repeat past mistakes where

37:46stuff comes out and then three years later, there's somebody doing the same idiotic thing

37:50somebody else had a major scandal for.

37:52So maybe I'm just cynical because I've been watching it for too long.

37:56But hopefully I can at least expose some of the craziness behind the scenes.

38:00People know what government's really getting up to.

38:03Well, I appreciate it. And like I said, I think that for the women there

38:06and, you know, men get abused.

38:08too. So I don't want to belittle the men out there.

38:12I think that it's important for anybody who sees something to speak out, because oftentimes

38:17the person that is being hurt is too afraid to do it.

38:21And that's where you come in.

38:23I mean, you have people coming to you and saying, I've seen this.

38:26That is to me, that is a huge job for the media right now is

38:30to make sure that this kind of bad behavior stops where, again, we pay these

38:35salaries. But also, it's not just that we're paying the salaries.

38:39So this can be a movement going forward for the rest of the country.

38:44If you're going to act like this, someone's going to call you out.

38:48You normalize calling someone out rather than normalize hiding it.

38:54And that's where it's been normalized to hide things for these people in power for

38:57way too long. And Julie, you're changing that.
