3:45I don't know if you heard my preamble there for a second, but can you

3:49just explain to people real quick this physically present in the United States for asylum

3:54seekers? What is this metering policy?

3:57How'd this get going? I'm sorry.

4:00I just got on. My flight was late.

4:02I just got into a room.

4:03I didn't hear that, Clay.

4:04I'm sorry. Oh, no, that's Buck.

4:05It's okay. So, there's a, under the immigrate.

4:08Anyway, you know what? But, just tell me this.

4:10Let's actually jump into the airport thing, because that's what everybody cares about.

4:13I was trying to do an elegant radio turn there, but instead, let's just get

4:17to what everyone cares about, which is ice in the airports.

4:21How's this going? What are the next steps?

4:23What are you seeing? Bruce, Buck, Buck, I'm glad I'm talking.

4:27I don't know what Matt would talk to.

4:29I got more jobs than Marco Rubio.

4:31Hey, look, bottom line is, what's happening in the airports was President Trump's idea who

4:37called me up in less than 24 hours.

4:38But, the Flanagan, I think, is a brilliant idea.

4:41But, look, you know, ICE is being paid.

4:44President Trump asked us to get to the airports to help, because a lot of

4:48TSA workers are calling in, or they're just playing quitting.

4:51So, we're going to do two things.

4:52Number one, we're going to shore up the security of that airport to keep the

4:55airways safe. And we're going to support TSA.

4:58So, jobs that don't require, like, the x -ray training, other security jobs, whether it's

5:03checking identification, whether it's, you know, luggage, whether it's, you know, providing security around the

5:07checkpoints, whether it's, you know, whatever TSA needs us to do to move those lines

5:13quicker and to keep security at the highest level, that's what we're doing.

5:17But, I want to add one more thing.

5:19I see a lot of stories about ICE immigration enforcement in airports.

5:22No, you're damn right. You know, our purpose there is help.

5:25TSA provides security and get people to the checkpoints.

5:28However, these HSI officers and EIRO officers, they see illegal activity.

5:34They're going to absolutely take action.

5:35So, yeah, we're doing a little bit of everything right now.

5:38Do you expect that – this is Clay.

5:40Thanks for coming on. You were just talking with Buck.

5:42I know how busy you are.

5:43Do you expect – you just said you're damn right.

5:46Yeah, you just said you're damn right.

5:48Do you expect that TSA will be able to help you with ICE arrest people?

5:55Because – and you tell me if I'm wrong here.

5:57But what I think about is people are showing up with IDs.

6:00We know exactly who they are.

6:02It seems like it could potentially be a very easy place to figure out if

6:07you're arresting the right guys or gals.

6:10Oh, you want to talk about talking to enforcement officers?

6:12Absolutely. Because everybody's got to show an ID to come through.

6:15And we can – you know, every Special Asian EIRO officer has a cell phone

6:19with the capability of accessing our databases.

6:21So, yeah, you know, this – we're going to enforce immigration law.

6:25And when we see – we get a lead or a target lead, you know,

6:29from TSA saying we've got information on this one or that one, yeah, we're going

6:33to do our job. We're going to do – you know, open a criminal investigation,

6:36whether, you know, if we've got reasonable suspicion to question somebody or probable cause to

6:41arrest somebody. That's exactly what we're going to do.

6:43We're going to work with our brothers and sisters in TSA to keep the airport

6:47safe. And, you know, and if someone's transversing the airport that's not in the country,

6:52we find out about it, and we have reasonable suspicion that, you know, we're going

6:55to take an enforcement action.

6:57We're absolutely going to do that.

6:58We're talking to Tom Holman.

7:00I don't know if you saw, but Philadelphia's district attorney, I believe his last name

7:04is Krasner, said threatened to arrest ICE agents at the airport.

7:10What's your reaction when you hear Soros -funded DAs making comments like that?

7:18You know, that's ridiculous. And, you know, bottom line is federal law always trumps local

7:23state law. So, you know, we're reforming our duties as enacted by Congress.

7:27We're not making this up.

7:29We are enforcing immigration law, and we're going to do it all to policy.

7:32I mean, I've been up on the Hill negotiating, trying to get this government back

7:35open, and they basically – they say they don't really want to abolish ICE.

7:39They want us to just reform ICE.

7:40No, the language they're proposing, they want – you know, they just want to shut

7:44it down. They want to take tools away from ICE, and I'm not going to

7:46do that. They've been hamstrung for four years under Joe Biden.

7:50Now they're finally doing their duty.

7:51They're upholding the oath they took.

7:53They're enforcing laws that Congress wrote and was signed by a president, and that's exactly

7:57what we're going to do.

7:59So, you know, I'm frustrated.

8:00They obviously see some sort of benefit on not funding the Department of Homeland Security,

8:09right? We're in an elevated threat posture right now, and we've got people from, you

8:14know, cybersecurity that aren't working.

8:17We've got people, you know, the Coast Guard ain't being paid.

8:20We've got people with, you know, TSA not being paid, FEMA not being paid.

8:24These people are putting this country at great risk during an elevated threat posture.

8:28It's just unbelievable that they're not willing to come to the table and meet with

8:32us. I've met with them.

8:34They talk about reform and immigration, but I've been explaining to them, the policies of

8:38enforcement have not changed in 30 years.

8:41We have the same policies under Obama, under Clinton, under Bush 1 and Bush 2.

8:46So it's not a policy issue.

8:48It's an execution issue, and we fixed that.

8:52You know, there were some problems in Minneapolis, and I went up there, and President

8:56Trump asked me to go up there and address it.

8:58We addressed a few issues, but most men and women, 99 percent of them, are

9:02doing the right thing, and we're on the right mission.

9:03But I'm not going to sit there and negotiate, taking authorities or away from ICE

9:10to enforce the law. It's just ridiculous.

9:12I'm tired of it. We're speaking to Tom Holman, border czar for this Trump White

9:17House. And, Tom, can you speak to where are we in terms of illegal removals,

9:24deportations, one year and change into this administration?

9:28And what are expectations, what is on the horizon for deportations going forward?

9:36Is there a plan to ramp up?

9:39You know, so basically, how far have we come to this point, and where are

9:42we going over the next year?

9:46Well, you know, last year we got about, you know, a little over 700 ,000

9:51removals between the patrol and us.

9:55The closest year to that was under Obama administration in 2012 when I was in

9:59ERO. We removed 409 ,000.

10:02So we blew that out of the water.

10:04And, you know, I actually got a presidential rank award for that.

10:07You know, how did Democrats have changed?

10:09I got an award in 2012 for 409 ,000 removals and, you know, highest award

10:14available. Now, all of a sudden, I can't, I'm not allowed to deport anybody.

10:17But, you know, if we have 700 ,000, so we're already making records, but we

10:20just brought 10 ,000 more.

10:22Well, not quite. We got, you know, almost that 10 ,000.

10:25But we're hiring 10 ,000 more enforcement officers, which is going to just increase those

10:30men and women on the street.

10:31The sanctuary cities and all this crap going on, yes, it's less efficient.

10:36We have to work harder.

10:37We have to work smarter because they won't give us access to the jails.

10:40But, you know, like with Minnesota, you know, it was terrible up there.

10:44But, you know, I went up there and I sat down with the governor, sat

10:46down with AG, I sat down with the mayor.

10:48And I explained to him, you don't want 3 ,000 people in your street?

10:51Then let me in the damn jail.

10:53Because one agent can arrest one bad guy in a jail, but when you release

10:56them, I've got to send a whole few jobs team to find them.

10:58And because of all the hate and the threats up there, then we've got to

11:03send a security team to back up the arrest team.

11:05So you've got a dozen guys out there that could have done the job with

11:09one person in the jail.

11:10And we've got unprecedented cooperation in the county jails throughout the state.

11:15We've got a state prison system working with us.

11:17It made sense. It made sense because less people are needed to do the job.

11:20But, you know, in these sanctuary cities, that's what it is.

11:23Back in the day when I was an agent, we had access to all the

11:27jails. One agent can arrest one bad guy, but they released them.

11:29Now we've got to send six or seven people for all sorts of states or

11:32reasons to find them. Find someone who doesn't want to be arrested, which is, of

11:36course, much dangerous for the community, more dangerous for the alien.

11:39Because anything can happen in the street.

11:41The rest are much dangerous for the agents.

11:43But with 10 ,000 more agents, we'll beat last year's number.

11:47But, you know, things like that, we've got agents at the airport now.

11:49And rather than on the street.

11:51But, you know, the priority right now is get the airport secure, move those lines

11:57through, and help our brothers and sisters in TSA.

11:59But as soon as this shutdown ends, and I think it's going to come out

12:03to reconciliation because this negotiation is going nowhere.

12:07I mean, we give a little bit.

12:10They take away a bunch.

12:12It's just ridiculous. So when we get the government back open, then I can get

12:17out there and get back to the main mission.

12:19But I want to be clear.

12:21We're going to leave a contingent at the airport because we've got human trafficking through

12:25the airport. We've got currency smuggling through the airport.

12:28We've got alien smuggling through the airport.

12:30We've always had a small footprint there.

12:32But what we're seeing now, we may have a bigger contingent there to enforce immigration

12:36law there, too. We're talking to Borders Art, Tom Homan.

12:40You told us before that you thought there were 20 million illegals in the country

12:44after Biden opened the border and let everybody in.

12:48You just talked about, I think, the number was 700 ,000.

12:50How many people do you think are voluntarily leaving?

12:55You know, people out there who see what's going on and just say, hey, maybe

12:58this is not the place for me.

13:00I know there's been numbers out there, but what kind of sense do you have

13:03about voluntary departures? Well, according to DHS data, it's over 2 million.

13:10At first year under Trump, over 2 million, either through the home app, CBP home

13:16app, or just leaving. CBP tracks a lot of people when they land in foreign

13:22airports. But we don't really know who goes south to the border, travel south.

13:26But DHS, through some independent studies, said about 2 million.

13:31I think the more and more, and let me tell you something about ICE operation,

13:35about the secure border. We have the most secure border ever.

13:37We've got to give a lot of credit to what's happening, what ICE is doing

13:40in the streets right now, because we sent a clear message.

13:43There's no longer a free ride.

13:45If you're in this country illegally, we're looking for you.

13:47When the whole world sees ICE out there doing massive operations, that sends a strong

13:53message. Don't give you life savings to the cartel, because you're not going to be

13:57released from the border, like the Biden administration did.

13:59If you happen to get by the border patrol, we're looking for it.

14:03No more free ride. So I think because of what ICE is doing nationwide, it's

14:08a big factor in why we have the most secure border in the history of

14:11this nation. Tom, home and borders are.

14:14We know how busy you are.

14:15We appreciate you. Anything else you would put out there?

14:17Can I say something real quick?

14:18Yeah. Just want to say something real quick.

14:19Tom, thank you for what you're doing, you know, and thank you for representing the

14:24men and women of ICE and DHS so well with all the nonsense the Democrats

14:29have been trying. I just was watching some TV show last night, totally maligning ICE.

14:34You're a true professional. You're serving your country.

14:37And, you know, thanks from me, from Clay, and from the whole audience.

14:40We really appreciate you and all the men and women of ICE who are doing

14:43their job under the Constitution of this country.

14:46Let me add one thing.

14:47I appreciate those words. Thank you.

14:49But, you know, God bless the men and women of ICE and Borgs.

14:52I was a Borgs agent.

14:53I know what they're dealing with.

14:54I was an ICE agent for a long time.

14:56I know what they're dealing with.

14:57I wish these members of Congress, rather than vilifying the men and women of ICE

15:00and calling them, you know, Nazis and the secret police, which just increases the threats

15:04against them, increases the violence against them.

15:06You know what? Grow a set.

15:09Put a badge on your chest.

15:11Put a gun on your hip and come out with us.

15:13See what they're dealing with and see what you have caused from the constant negative

15:18rhetoric and comparing them to the Nazis, which increases the doxing against them, which has

15:25increased assaults over 1 ,400%.

15:29So, rather than sitting there calling us names, strap a gun to your hip, put

15:33a kevlar vest on, and come do what we do and see if you can

15:36stand on the line. I guarantee you, none of them can.

15:40Absolutely. God bless, Tom. To you and all those that you're representing out there, thank

20:53Let's talk straight of Hormuz, the conflict with Iran and bringing our friend Steve Yates.

20:59He's a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, a former Bush national security official.

21:06And Steve, just take us through as you see it here.

21:11We know Hormuz is a choke point.

21:13Why is this so complicated?

21:17What do you think can be done about it?

21:19How do we resolve this thing?

21:21I saw an editorial in the journal, Wall Street Journal, saying, you know, we just

21:26got to land troops to secure the strait and it's just going to be a

21:29quick operation. And I'm like, whoa, hold on.

21:31Hold on a second. I've heard that before.

21:34What do you think about what's going on here?

21:37Well, Buck, as you know, it's a very confined geography.

21:40That's one of the major challenges.

21:42It's a very long strip of waterway where, Iran has shoreline all along.

21:48one side. There are some very, very wealthy neighbors on the other side of that

21:52water that would like to get their energy out to market.

21:55And then it goes through this very narrow strait that is a choke point.

22:00There's an island in the middle of it that Trump has hit some military targets

22:04on and has talked about maybe taking control over that is responsible for refining and

22:10has an extremely high proportion of Iran's oil endowment.

22:14So I think people who say this is a simple military operation might be underselling

22:18it a bit. They are so close to Iran geographically that even with remnants, you

22:23might still get hit. And I think that's why President Trump has done this maximum

22:28pressure, but then pull back and say, if we can get a deal that gets

22:33them to relent and we reopen things, then we're in a better place.

22:37And he also has pressured allies to say, you know, we have a really small

22:41American percentage of this oil.

22:43You guys come in and shepherd your vessels out of here and the Iranians shouldn't

22:48shoot at you. And so I think there's these at least two layers that really

22:52need to get handled before the curve is turned on this.

22:55Steve, I think a lot of our listeners are just not very familiar with the

23:00Strait of Hormuz in general.

23:02Based on my reading, the vast majority of oil and gas that is coming through

23:07the Strait of Hormuz has no impact on the United States oil and gas marketplace

23:12at all. And I think much of it ends up going to China.

23:17With that in context, to what extent actually should this be a larger global issue?

23:24A lot of the focus has been on the United States oil and gas market,

23:28but really it's more of a global issue than it is a United States one.

23:33Well, Clay, that's right. But first and foremost, oil is a fungible good, which is

23:37a fancy word of meaning.

23:38It can shift in value and get sold and bought in any number of different

23:43ways. And so when oil goes out of this restricted area and goes to China,

23:49that affects global supply in the market and it affects prices.

23:53And so any release of resources out of this conflict zone will have downward pressure

23:58on price in some measure.

24:00It's definitely the case that China is the overwhelming buyer of Iran oil.

24:05It's partly because it's been sanctioned for a long time and they've gotten it at

24:08a discount. President Trump is trying to remove that discount and get them to pay

24:12for a little bit of the security freight.

24:14India also depends on a good bit of this too.

24:17But it's definitely one of these global commons issues of where Europeans depend to some

24:22degree and Asian major powers depend in a large degree.

24:26And America's providing them a service that Trump aims to pay, get them to pay

24:30a bill for. Steve, how do you assess the Trump?

24:35I'm going to speaking from the Trump perspective here, said we're going to hit the

24:41energy facilities, power plants, I believe, and energy facilities in Iran unless they open the

24:48strait. But then we heard there's some back channel negotiation.

24:51So he has put that red line or he has moved that timeline down a

24:57bit. How do you think this is going?

25:00Is it possible to read into this?

25:01I mean, I know with Trump, I feel like part of the strategy is actually

25:07a little bit of the perception of chaos that the opposition can take from his

25:13statements. What do you think about what he's doing?

25:16Well, Buck, you know, from people who've been longtime practitioners, we think of this as

25:20somewhat straight statecraft. I think of it as Trumpcraft.

25:23He hits like a sledgehammer and then he'll pull back and he'll look for where

25:28are their deals. And he recognizes just common sense that if we can get them

25:33to relent and engage in some kind of a verifiable deal that is safer, more

25:38endurable, and it's a much preferable path to go down.

25:42At the same time, even though his critics will never recognize it, he's being reasonable.

25:46He's giving them off ramps every step along this way so that if they miss

25:51this deadline, and I suspect they might miss this deadline, Trump will hit them hard.

25:56But he's tried to leave the civilian energy infrastructure intact so that post -conflict reconstruction

26:03is cheaper and better for the people of Iran if they can take their country.

26:08So he's trying to do them a solid.

26:10Hopefully they recognize it. But I would make no mistake about it.

26:13This deadline passes very much further.

26:15Trump's going to hit them hard.

26:17And that is kind of a classical form of warfare.

26:19You take the energy out to end the war machine.

26:23That's how you get total surrender.

26:24We're talking to Stevie Yates.

26:26As we've been talking to you in the last, I don't know, 10, 15 minutes,

26:30the story from the Wall Street Journal, U .S.

26:34has ordered 3 ,082nd airborne soldiers to the Middle East.

26:38Trump has given Iran a Friday deadline.

26:43What do you think it would look like if there were to be a raid?

26:48And I say raid because I don't think we're going to be setting up bases

26:51in Iran that potentially could involve Karj Island or putting troops to try to protect

26:58the Strait of Hormuz. In a big picture sense, what might that look like?

27:03And obviously, Trump is at least threatening that he might do so with these actions.

27:09Well, I do think the Karj Island option is very much front and center.

27:13I really don't like the option personally.

27:16of the U .S. being kind of the sole provider of security in this really

27:21should be something that is a shared responsibility, especially among those Gulf allies who have

27:27been hit by Iran and now say they're going to hit back and they need

27:30to provide security for their flows to go to market.

27:33So I really hope the president is working behind the scenes to get them involved

27:37so that there's skin in the game in every sense.

27:40And it's not just American targets for Iranian forces to hit.

27:44We would have to just knock the crap out of their coastline to have a

27:49safe buffer buffer for ships.

27:51And we'd probably have to occupy Carg Island to control that.

27:55Do we have a sense and we're speaking to Stephen Yates, senior fellow at the

27:58Heritage Foundation, national security expert.

28:02Steve, do we have a sense of what the acceptable end game is here?

28:08Again, Trump has indicated numerous times of an end game or what maybe it looks

28:15like depending on the day.

28:17But I think there's variations on a theme here.

28:20Where do you think what do you think would be acceptable for this to get

28:24to at least a ceasefire and some next phase?

28:29Right. Well, Buck, I think of it as getting to a de -escalation point that

28:32sort of pivots into longer term maintenance.

28:35And I think President Trump has been clear about some of the standards.

28:38One has been hyper -focused on the nuclear programs.

28:41That's combined U .S. and Israeli operations that might involve having to have some forces,

28:47hopefully not ours, but some forces going in to physically control and verify disarmament in

28:53those sensitive facilities. The launch capabilities, complete defanging of the security forces.

28:59I think that's also been more the Israeli mission in recent days.

29:03So I think it's overwhelmingly getting the flow of resources, not just because we love

29:10oil, although that's a good thing to love to keep the world running.

29:13It's to make it so that markets calm, resources flow, and there's a sense of

29:17where we can get post major military operations.

29:21I think that we should and must get there in the next week or two.

29:25And that's where we'll get a sense of, is this tipping into a more complex

29:30entanglement? Or have we really hit all those targets that the Secretary of War and

29:35the President have said we have?

29:37Trump has been talking about doing this since the 1980s.

29:41There have been people out there who have said, oh, he only did this because

29:45of Israel. Buck and I have talked about this.

29:47I'm curious how you would analyze the likelihood of this.

29:50I can see a world where the United States says, hey, we've done everything we

29:53want to do, and pulls back and Israel continues to hit Iran.

29:58What do you think the likelihood of that is that this union of attack eventually

30:02turns into a solitary attack from Israel?

30:07Well, I 100 % agree that it's going to change.

30:10I don't want it to be solitary in the sense that I really seriously hope

30:14that our regional partners play more of a role in constructively shaping the security and

30:19economic environment there after major military operations wind down.

30:24I believe completely the President has his set of clear objectives.

30:29He wants to make sure there's a return on the investment.

30:32But he's definitely, I think, going to be looking in the shorter term horizon, whereas

30:36Israel and maybe some other partners really need to do the constant gardening in the

30:41longer term. We can hit every once in a while when necessary.

30:44I think that's appropriate for the United States as a superpower.

30:47But we can't be the one that's micromanaging this, even in the months, much less

30:53years range going after this.

30:55What does a realistic future of the Iranian state look like that would be clear

31:04evidence that the Trump plan here has has worked?

31:08I mean, essentially, Steve, what is, yeah, for victory for us is obviously straight up.

31:14Hormuz is open, oil is flowing.

31:16We have some kind of, as you said, a de -escalation agreement.

31:19Got to figure out what the Israelis are going to do in this as well.

31:21I figure there's going to be some high level, the highest level talks between Trump

31:25and Netanyahu on this. But is there a world in which we decide we can

31:30live with the mullahs still kind of in charge, but they're just really wimpy and

31:36frightened mullahs? Or is it some kind of a pathway to a representative democracy, maybe

31:43overseen by some Arab League transition process?

31:48I mean, I'm basically asking you to fix the Middle East here, but we had

31:51a lady call in and fix the DHS problem with TSA.

31:55So, you know, you've been doing this for like 30, 40 years, Steve.

31:58You tell me, how does the next phase of Iran look if this all goes

32:02according to plan? Well, Buck, the first sign I'm looking for is an actual human

32:07being with a name that is the person or group that President Trump has been

32:12negotiating with directly or indirectly.

32:14I think for their own life sake, they have kept this person anonymous, a lot

32:21of speculation. But really, if there's going to be a soft transition, it's going to

32:25have to be into the hands of some entity that's recognizable so that we and

32:30others in the international community can make deals that ensure the peace and get through

32:35this transition. So first, we're going to have to see who's the they when President

32:39Trump says they have made a commitment to denuclearize.

32:43That would be a major win.

32:44in, if that's true. And I believe the president is hearing that, but complete verifiable

32:49irreversible dismantlement of that program is a 30 plus year long objective.

32:54If president Trump did that in a month or two, that's borderline miraculous.

32:58And so getting that person identified, that group identified, and then international peacekeepers or verifiers,

33:05that's where we can go back to the allies and say, you guys have got

33:08to come up with a coalition that does this.

33:10You run into problems, we might be your 9 -1 -1, but we're not your

33:14daily daddy. Last question, CV8s.

33:17There are reports that Saudi Arabia is encouraging Trump to keep pouring on the steel,

33:23so to speak, on Iran.

33:26UAE, Qatar, based on reports, kicking Iranian diplomats out of their country.

33:34Is the most under -discussed part of this entire attack how much support there is

33:41for it from so -called other Arab Muslim countries?

33:45Clay, that's ultimately been the biggest rebuttal to this idea that it was somehow Israel

33:50that on its own dragged us into this.

33:53For years, I have heard from Arab allies deep, deep concerns.

33:57And it was frankly welcomed by then when Trump 1 .0 brought in the maximum

34:02pressure campaign to get away from the Obama -Iran nuclear deal.

34:08They were the key drivers that made the Abraham Accords a reality.

34:13It was, yes, the U .S.

34:14and Israel involved, and very much so, but it was Arab allies that pushed very,

34:18very hard in this. And this really ultimately gets back to Trump craft 1 .0.

34:24He's resetting all of these trouble zones with different cards and different coalitions.

34:30And I think those Arab allies are sick of what Iran has done to them

34:33during this conflict and really over the last decades.

34:36Steve, outstanding stuff as always.

35:15crime since there was a surge of federal support.

35:19You represent the state. You were just there.

35:22What should people know nationwide about what's happening in Memphis?

35:27Memphis is the model, Clay.

35:30If you want to get crime down in your city, look at what Memphis has

35:34done and the partnership that is there with local, state, and federal elected officials and

35:40local, state, and federal agencies all working together.

35:44And it takes it all as a team.

35:46And when Cash Patel and Pam Bondi were coming through their confirmations for FBI and

35:54Attorney General, I asked each of them and then got a public commitment from them

36:00to help us. They jumped in.

36:03They worked with their agencies.

36:06Federal agencies worked with the local police.

36:08They worked with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and National Guard and Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.

36:15Our U .S. Attorney, our U .S.

36:18Marshal, and 30 federal agencies on the ground working, helping.

36:23And because of that, in under six months, we have cut the crime rate in

36:29Memphis by half. And Memphis is on its way from being the most dangerous city

36:35per capita in the country to being one of the safest cities.

36:40That shows you when the people with a Democrat mayor, Democrat elected, Democrat police chief

36:48stand up and say, we are going to work with these resources, with these agencies,

36:55with all of these elected officials.

36:57We are going to do this for the good of the people.

37:01Then this is the type result that you get.

37:04Hey, Senator Blackburn, it's Buck.

37:06This is such a remarkable story.

37:07We've seen similar numbers in D .C.

37:10And I know as the crime stats are compiled from cities where there's been this

37:15federal intervention to bring crime down, we're going to keep seeing this.

37:20But I think you laid into a critical point there, which is that this is

37:25a Democrat -controlled city still.

37:27They were willing to work with the federal government to bring the crime rate down.

37:33Is there any hope in your mind that we might see this then in some

37:37other Democrat -controlled cities? Because if you're the mayor, you know, maybe you have aspirations

37:43to be a governor or a senator, perhaps in a state.

37:46But there are a few things that I would believe could be a bigger benefit

37:51to any mayor than be able to look at his constituents when he wants or

37:54she wants to run for reelection and say, yeah, we brought the violent crime rate

37:58down 50 percent. And that is something that is so vitally important.

38:06You know, the people that came to the roundtable we did in Memphis yesterday had

38:10remarkable. stories. And the people that were in the room, Buck, you would have loved

38:17listening to these people. They weren't partisan.

38:20They were citizens of the city of Memphis who have dealt with this crime issue.

38:25And for them to be able to talk about sitting on their porch and drinking

38:30a glass of tea and not worrying about a bullet coming through the house, for

38:35them to talk about being a small business owner and not having landscaping equipment or

38:40delivery equipment stolen or employees not being robbed when they were leaving work and hear

38:47about children back to class.

38:51They're not skipping school. They are going back to school.

38:56They're not being recruited by gangs because many of these gangs have been run out

39:02of the city of Memphis.

39:04Memphis has seen more than 9 ,000 arrests, 9 ,000 in the last five months.

39:13These are violent criminal arrests.

39:15And you have crime down significantly in every category.

39:20Motor vehicle thefts are down 65 percent in Memphis.

39:26And when you focus on an issue and say we're going to surge, we're going

39:31to surge. And then once we surge, we're going to look at those results and

39:36we're going to figure out how to sustain that good work.

39:41And we're going to do it all in partnership for the safety of the people

39:46of our city. We're talking to Senator Marsha Blackburn.

39:56former, I guess I could say now, Senate colleagues has been sworn in as the

40:00head of DHS. I believe yesterday he was confirmed by a vote of 55, 54

40:05to 45, including your support.

40:08What can you tell us about Mark Wayne Mullen?

40:10What do you think he will be like as DHS head?

40:14He is a very good friend of mine.

40:17Mark Wayne is someone who is going to work diligently.

40:22He understands how you run a business, how you lead people.

40:27And you know, that is the most important thing in an organization is knowing how

40:32to lead people and how to manage assets.

40:36And Mark Wayne gets that.

40:38He gets the difference in that.

40:40He is given to protecting our great nation.

40:44He knows and supports President Trump in his America first agenda.

40:49And it was exciting to be on the floor with him last night to have

40:53his family here and to see their excitement as he was named our nation's Secretary

40:59of Homeland Security. Speaking to Senator Marsha Blackburn right now, and you know, we are

41:06seeing these breaking reports from just today, Senator, about some of these airports that have

41:12been so snarled because of Democrats really manufacturing a travel crisis.

41:18That's what has been going on.

41:20But now this ice deployment into these airports has substantially, if not completely, alleviated that

41:29TSA congestion. This is pretty remarkable.

41:34I have to ask you, Senator, do you know that there is some belief that

41:37this originated with a call in to the show on Friday and Clay immediately then

41:43took it to Fox and then the president ran with this?

41:45It looks like this strategy is working.

41:49It is indeed working and putting the ice over at the airports to man the

41:54exits as people walk out of the secured areas and to prohibit people from running

42:01through the entrance into that exit or through that exit into the secured area to

42:08check IDs, identifications to assist PSA employees who are overworked right now.

42:16And we continue to work to try to find a way to get DHS fully

42:22funded. We have a group that has been working with the White House.

42:27It is a part of our appropriations committee, those members, and they are trying to

42:33find a way forward. And then we're also discussing doing a public safety reconciliation, where

42:41we will look at bolstering the funds that are necessary to continue the public safety

42:46efforts for our nation. We're talking to Senator Marsha Blackburn.

42:51You spend a lot of time in Washington, D .C.

42:54The overall violent crime rate has collapsed in Washington, D .C.

42:58You were just in Memphis.

42:59You just shared the data with us about how much the crime rate has collapsed

43:04in Memphis. Isn't it now the case that using both these cities as sort of

43:10experiments, for lack of a better way to describe it, that there are tons of

43:14cities out there that if we did the exact same thing, we could save a

43:18massive amount of lives? Shouldn't we just start to apply these lessons nationwide?

43:24Oh, yes. And when you look at the difference in Memphis and Minneapolis, think about

43:29that one, where in Memphis, they embraced the help and welcomed the help.

43:35And then they moved forward with making the city secure.

43:39And as I said now, 9 ,000 arrests later, and I will also add, in

43:45addition to the hundreds of vehicles that have been recovered, the hundreds of weapons that

43:51have been taken off the street, they have found over 150 missing children that were

43:57being held by people, and they have been returned home.

44:02And as I said, you've got hundreds of children that have gone back to school.

44:05They're not joining the gangs.

44:07And other cities should be looking at this.

44:11And, you know, you look at somewhere like Chicago or L .A.

44:16or San Francisco that has such horrific issues.

44:20You look at cities that are sanctuary cities for illegal immigration, and you say, why

44:27are they harboring these criminal illegal aliens?

44:31And then you look at Memphis, where citizens are walking up to you.

44:36You know, people call our office every single day, and they say, thank you so

44:40much for focusing on Memphis, for bringing peace to our city, for helping to get

44:47the crime down. Thank you so much.

44:52Senator, by the way, congrats on polling.

44:56I don't know if you comment on polling very much, but I saw that you

44:58have a 50 -point lead in the upcoming governor's race, which will, frankly, largely be

45:06decided in August when the Republican primary happens.

45:09So congrats on how well that campaign is going.
