4:13till seven before I realized.

4:25I feel like I'm basically neutral.

4:28They didn't torture me too much.

4:29We're fine. How are you doing?

4:31Not bad. Yeah, it's, you know, once they hit a certain age, it's their problem,

4:36whether they can sleep or not sleep.

4:40And that's where we are now.

4:41So yeah, youngest is 10.

4:44That's, you know, if he gets to bed, that's up to him.

4:55You know, it's funny. You and I were discussing whether Iran should be our first

4:59topic or not. Obviously, Iran is the major topic, but we're going to leave that

5:04for the second segment, because in New York City, Amir Balat and Ibrahim Kayoumi have

5:10been arrested for throwing bomb -like devices, Jessica Tish, who is the NYPD commissioner, says

5:22that it was. It's not a hoax device or a smoke bomb.

5:25These were improvised explosive devices that could have caused serious injury or death.

5:34Now, you heard the name.

5:36Thank you to Commissioner Tish for being pretty clear -eyed about this.

5:41I mean, New Yorkers should, if she goes anywhere, it's a real problem for New

5:47York. New Yorkers should hang on to her as best as possible.

5:50But what's been going on in New York is that these attacks, these bombs, were

5:57thrown near Gracie Mansion, where Mayor Mamdani lives.

6:01And so the news is pretending that this is about Islamophobia.

6:07The New York Times went with the headline, Smoking jars of metal and fuses thrown

6:12at protests near Mayor's house.

6:14NBC New York had multiple arrests made after suspicious devices found outside Gracie Mansion, home

6:21of Mayor Zoran Mamdani, during anti -Islam rally and counter -protest.

6:26Now, there was an anti -Islam rally going on, but that's not who was involved

6:33in the bombing at all.

6:34In fact, those were the targets of that bombing.

6:37Well, and Zoran Mamdani's statement further confuses by saying, Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized

6:46a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism.

6:49Such hate has no place in New York City.

6:51It is an affront to our city's values and the unity that defines who we

6:55are. What followed was even more disturbing.

6:58Violence at a protest is never acceptable.

7:00The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it

7:04is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.

7:07I want to thank the brave men and women of the New York PD who

7:10acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe.

7:12Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it

7:16takes to protect the city every single day.

7:18My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in contact with our police

7:23commissioner. I think you could monitor it a little bit closer.

7:26I think you could monitor it close enough to find out who was throwing the

7:32bombs. It's like the geese meme.

7:34Who threw the bombs? Zoran Mamdani.

7:37It's actually amazing. So the terrorist jumped over a leftist with a megaphone who was

7:43saying basically everybody's welcome in New York and everything's fine.

7:48And, you know, these protesters are the bad people here.

7:52And to show you how unwell leftism has become, the protester, who again, the terrorists

7:58like leapt on top of him to throw the bomb, he tweets, I cannot stress

8:02this enough. It was right near our feet and it did not look real.

8:05We just stood there laughing.

8:07Meanwhile, the incel femoids ran away having been totally gesture mogged.

8:11Their cortisol levels have yet to recover.

8:14Like, dude, you almost died in a bombing attack.

8:17This is so embarrassing. Yeah.

8:18You're not brave. You're stupid.

8:22Well, and Mamdani's statement illustrates what too many leftists and liberals and academics believe, which

8:31is that the speech of Jake Lang is the most dangerous thing happening at that

8:37event. And I'm sorry, like, it's not.

8:40His speech, even when reprehensible, is not an IED.

8:44And the proper response to his speech is speech, not an IED and attempting to

8:49kill people. By the way, these two young men, radicalized in the United States, come

8:55from Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where they live in a very, very nice house.

9:01Bucks County is a lovely place.

9:03This is not a, these guys did not have hardships.

9:07We did not torture them.

9:09This society has been quite good to them.

9:12And they decided to travel to New York City to do this, to perpetrate violence

9:16on their fellow citizens. And apparently they made pro -ISIS comments and held up the

9:22one finger as they were perp -walked.

9:25And that one finger is apparently an ISIS sign.

9:28I have to say, also, the way that this is being covered, I know that

9:32we're kind of laughing about it.

9:34And we're saying, look how ridiculous the New York Times and NBC and Murazar Mamdani,

9:38all pretending that it's like an attack on Islamists and not from Islamists.

9:44But the thing is that a lot of the conspiracy theories that we see permeating

9:49on the right and on the left stems from this kind of stuff.

9:52And people feel like they've been lied to for so long that anything goes, anybody

9:58can be believed. I think that when you have the New York Times blatantly lying

10:03to people over and over and over again, the Candace Owens of the world, the

10:06Tucker Carlson's of the world, realize they could just say whatever they want to.

10:10They could just say what they hope could be true, just like the New York

10:13Times does, and get a pass.

10:15And that's actually what's happening.

10:17Well, and what the press does is that they, specifically on the issue of political

10:23violence, which the numbers, the polling shows that liberals, particularly liberal women, support the idea

10:31of political violence in much larger numbers than conservatives do.

10:35These are just real things.

10:36And what the press does is that they erase leftist violence and ignore it, or

10:41they alchemize it into something else.

10:44Islamist violence is something they don't want to talk about.

10:47So they're like, let's just pretend that it's something else.

10:50And that's. It gives a really incomplete picture.

10:52Sure, it's easy to think that the right is uniquely politically violent if you alchemize

10:58every other kind of violence into right -wing violence.

11:01That does distort the numbers quite a bit.

11:04And I saw it in real time at CNN when I worked there, when the

11:08baseball shooting happened, which is explicitly political violence by a Bernie bro who camped out

11:14in my neighborhood for a month to stalk these people.

11:17And then asked Ron DeSantis, then a congressman, before he went to shoot everybody, are

11:21those Republicans? I just want to make sure.

11:24When that happened, within 24 hours, I was talking about how Trump's rhetoric might have

11:31been the real culprit here on CNN.

11:34That's what I was being asked.

11:35Yeah, that's what they do.

11:37They turn it into something that does not exist.

11:40And Americans kind of either know they're being lied to or they don't.

11:44And either way, it's not a good situation with what ends up happening in our

11:49country. I mean, this coverage is just such dishonest trash.

11:55It's just BS, yeah. It's terrible.

11:58Unacceptable. And there's, you know, no way we can really complain about it.

12:02You know, we've been pointing out media bias for our whole entire careers.

12:06And we've been showing the lies that they tell.

12:09And all the, I mean, during COVID, you and I had a lot of time

12:13to point out lies and more lies that the media was feeding the population.

12:17And then when we look around and like, wow, people just don't trust anything, anything

12:22that anybody says. This is where it comes from.

12:25This is where it comes from.

12:26And it does not make things better if you don't behave yourselves better.

12:31Yeah. New York Times. Exactly.

12:34And they don't think it's a problem.

12:35That's the issue. It's not an honest mistake that they're going to correct.

12:39Right, right. So my old city councilman, Brad Lander, who is the absolute worst.

12:43And, you know, I always make the comment, like, as you can see New York's

12:47decline by how far Brad Lander is allowed to rise.

12:51He's actually primarying another leftist Democrat for Congress because that guy is not leftist enough.

12:56OK. He tweeted, happy to know that our mayor and first lady are safe, but

13:00horrified that there's such a disturbing threat of violence outside their residence.

13:04Vile displays of Islamophobia will never be tolerated in our city.

13:08I mean, Brad Lander marched with the Women's March when it was clear that they

13:13were anti -Semites, like when a lot of leftists and liberals left the Women's March

13:17because they were like, OK, these these women are complete Jew haters.

13:21Brad Lander, who's Jewish, was like, that's fine.

13:23I'll just march with them anyway.

13:25And as of this recording, he has not corrected the Islamophobia nonsense on his Twitter.

13:31So we'll see. Yeah, it was designed to be misinformation.

13:36And just unfortunately, we don't have a reliable narrator and you have to do a

13:42lot of work to figure out what is real and what is not.

13:46So in this case, the New York Times was doing hard work to turn you

13:49in the wrong direction. Yeah.

13:52And again, the guy who almost got killed by a bomb and thinks it's funny

13:57and it's funny that people were scared of a bomb.

14:00Like this is the best example of Gadzad's suicidal empathy.

14:05It's like I am so open minded that I don't even care if I get

14:10killed with this bomb as long as I'm not seen as racist, as long as

14:14I'm fighting racism. Like you are the lamest person alive and you almost died.

14:19Another, by the way, should flag the rhetorical use of something like this by some

14:24on the more isolationist right who will say, aha, look, we have created this by

14:30our actions in the Middle East.

14:32This is a retaliation. And therefore, well, I would say we've come a long way

14:36from we don't negotiate with terrorists.

14:39Right. So we don't dictate our policy in those ways.

14:43Please make arguments against the policy.

14:45But this kind of violent attack will not be an acceptable argument against.

14:50Yeah. The thing is that these are American boys like, yes, they're Muslim American boys.

14:55But are we really saying that Muslims can never become fully American, that they can

15:00never adapt to being fully American?

15:04They always have their eye on the Middle East.

15:06I mean, that's the accusation that's like made against Jews that they care too much

15:09about Israel. I just think it's nonsense.

15:12I think you can be America first, no matter what religion you are.

15:16And we can't be giving a pass to Muslims who are upset about events happening

15:21in other countries while they live their cushy lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

18:47which I know you want him to do, Mary Catherine.

18:49He has been answering a lot of media questions, basically any media member that calls

18:55him up and asks him questions is getting some sort of answer from him.

19:01But Pete Hegseth did take 260 minutes over the weekend, and he had some really

19:07good clips. I really, I'm becoming a Pete Hegseth super fan.

19:11I don't know what to tell you.

19:12I really am enjoying him as our, you know, I can't say defense secretary anymore.

19:20Our chief of war, no, department of war secretary.

19:24It's just, it's a mouthful, but fine, fine.

19:26For my Pete Hegseth super fandom, I'll do that.

19:30We have a clip of him on 60 Minutes, basically saying what we say all

19:36the time. Trump leaves all options on the table always.

19:41Is it possible to achieve the objectives President Trump has set before you if we

19:46don't locate and obtain and extract the highly enriched uranium?

19:51There's a lot of different ways we can get after that.

19:53They've used a conventional umbrella of missiles that was growing every single day, their production

19:59capacity, to try to cover over their nuclear blackmail ambitions.

20:03As far as how you get at that nuclear option, we'll make sure that their

20:07nuclear ambitions are never achieved.

20:09Will we take it out ourselves?

20:10Well, I would never tell you or anybody else what our options are.

20:13See, that's another thing. People keep asking...

20:15It's a very fair question.

20:18People ask boots on the ground, no boots on the ground, four weeks, two weeks,

20:22six weeks, go in, go in.

20:24President Trump knows, I know, you don't tell the enemy, you don't tell the press,

20:29you don't tell anybody what your limits would be on an operation.

20:33We're willing to go as far as we need to in order to be successful.

20:36Do we have any overt or covert forces inside Iran now?

20:44I wouldn't tell you that if we did.

20:46The only reason I ask is earlier this week you said no.

20:50Is that still the answer?

20:51Yeah, that's still the answer.

20:52But we reserve the right.

20:54We would be completely unwise if we did not reserve the right to take any

20:58particular option, whether it included boots on the ground or no boots on the ground.

21:03I feel like that was a correction because of Trump.

21:06He's like, do not tell them anything.

21:07Do not say we do not have covert forces in Iran.

21:10We do not give any information out.

21:13And look, whatever else you think of Trump, the fact that he leaves every option

21:16on the table makes certain regimes afraid, and that's a good thing.

21:21No, and also, I do feel like this is a media literacy thing that perhaps

21:26people who cover the president should have noticed by now, which is that every time

21:30you ask him, it does not matter how outlandish the thing is.

21:34If you ask him, are we going to transport the elephants that were retired from

21:39the Ringling Brothers circus to Iran to do our bidding?

21:45this ground war, he would be like, could be.

21:49I'm not going to take it off the table.

21:51It doesn't indicate his willingness.

21:55Now, you can be frustrated with that because you want more straightforward information.

21:58Fine. But let us not assume that not ruling out means a willingness to do.

22:04That's exactly right. And I think that Pete Hexth has become the spokesperson for that

22:11message of we will do whatever we need to do to achieve our objectives and

22:16we won't be telling the media about it.

22:18They won't be telling Democrats in Congress about it.

22:20So, you know, I like it.

22:23I'm in. Yeah. Well, like, again, I think you can have concerns about, you know,

22:29how seriously are we taking next steps here?

22:32What does that look like?

22:33What can this transition to?

22:35Oh, that's fair game. But like, I do feel like the part where you're just,

22:39why isn't the president briefing us regularly on actual tactics.

22:43Yeah. Yeah. We know why.

22:47Yeah. Oh, I would also add that I think it's an interesting twist of global

22:51relations that the Ukrainians are now like, hey, we have technology to help with these

22:58Iranian, the Iranian technology, the drone technology that we've been fighting against because obviously the

23:06Iranians support Russia and that's part of the access of our enemies.

23:10And so now they are able to say, we can help you guys defend against

23:14these for less money, which is a nice little coming together.

23:19Yeah. Yeah. It's a lot of things are changing.

23:22And yeah, I'm optimistic. I don't know.

23:25I look, I get the argument that nobody asks Congress anymore about going to war.

23:31I do. I, you know, I would have in the last 20 years have enjoyed

23:35Congress playing some role in making those decisions.

23:39But that's not what we have.

23:41And that's not what we've had for a while.

23:42We have this great clip.

23:45Adam Schiff was on the Bill Maher show and Bill Maher did this to him.

23:49Let's roll that. This statement from the administration, the president had the constitutional authority to

23:54direct the use of military force because he could reasonably determine that such use of

23:59force was in the national interest.

24:01That's too vague for you?

24:02Totally vague. Okay. Because that's from Obama about Libya.

24:07Well, Obama made the argument initially that he could go into Syria without an authorization.

24:12I and many others pushed back on that argument.

24:15Ultimately, he did not go forward with going after Assad, even though Assad was gassing

24:20his own people because he thought he might lose the vote in Congress.

24:24But I respect the fact that that that was important to him and the fact

24:30that he did not have the support of Congress meant that we weren't going to

24:32go forward. We are unquestionably at war now.

24:37The founders made an extraordinary decision at the time, which was not to give that

24:41power to the president, but to give it to the Congress because they worried, I

24:45think, as Hamilton said, that a president would grow too fond of making war.

24:49After Venezuela, after the earlier Iran conflict, after bombing Nigeria and Iraq and Syria, he's

24:59grown too fond of this.

25:01And Congress, Don, as you're saying, needs to step up.

25:04He got him good. He really did.

25:06Because, you know, he didn't care when Obama was pushing war in different places.

25:12He only cares because it's Trump.

25:13And that's the that's the other thing with taking this to Congress.

25:16It's like they're just going to go on party lines with the exception of like

25:20Rand Paul. And it's it's basically pointless.

25:25But I understand the urge.

25:29I wish we could get back to a balance of powers the way it was

25:32supposed to be. Not holding my breath for any of that.

25:35Well, and like, by the way, can it?

25:38Mar's good at this. He's good at finding where people where people's partisanship and tribalism

25:44takes them into hypocrisy and airing it on this show.

25:49He's done it in the past when it comes to it was a couple of

25:53race related quotes that he read and implied that they were Republicans.

25:57So good. And then caught a bunch of people by saying those were actually Michelle

26:01Obama saying those things. So he's he's good at highlighting this stuff.

26:06I think it's useful to highlight.

26:07We have a problem in coverage of Trump, which is that everybody in the press

26:11is always willing to say this is unprecedented.

26:15And it's actually quite precedented, whatever the thing is.

26:19In this case, in Libya, I believe there were months of bombings.

26:23And you're right. Shift didn't care.

26:25Shift's media training is good enough that he just switches to another conflict entirely right

26:29here and breezes right by the actual question.

26:33Yeah. But I think it's telling about this era that the person who used to

26:39do this to politicians was Tim Russer, the head of the host of a Sunday

26:46show, Meet the Press. And he was sort of famous, bringing up old tape and

26:49saying, OK, well, what do you have to say to this?

26:52Now it's an HBO political show host.

26:56Yeah. The Sunday show hosts sort of take a pass on this kind of thing

27:00most of the time. Yeah.

27:02And appreciate him for doing it.

27:04And I don't mind when our side gets caught either.

27:07Like highlighting these. Yeah. And and yeah, he had shift dead to rights there.

27:13Yeah. Look, that's a really good point.

27:16The Sunday shows used to be a serious discussion and they haven't been in so,

27:21so long. And what we talk about on the show a lot is that Democrat

27:24privilege. The reason that Schiff was surprised by that and the reason that he didn't

27:29expect it, even though, again, he did cover great, was because he never gets asked

27:34difficult questions. He never gets challenged.

27:37He doesn't go on programs where that might be the case.

27:39It's just he gets to say whatever he wants, however he wants to.

27:44And, you know, I think that there's some level of damage that happens.

27:49I met somebody recently who said that they really flipped politically when they kept Adam

27:54Schiff kept saying he's going to have the goods on Russiagate.

27:58He's going to have the goods on Russiagate.

27:59He's going to have the smoking gun like any minute.

28:01And he was like, and he never had it.

28:03And that made him like rethink everything.

28:06So, you know, even even if you're watching friendly media, you might catch on to

28:10the fact that Adam Schiff doesn't have it.

28:12Yeah. Well, and Schiff was a double betrayal because it wasn't just I have the

28:17I have a smoking gun.

28:18I swear. Wink, wink. He was by doing so misusing his own clearances because what

28:27he was saying is I've seen what's behind closed doors.

28:31And I'm assuring you because of my clearance.

28:33You can't know about it, but I know what's there.

28:37And it was just a lie.

28:38It was just a lie.

28:39And to the extent that there was anything there, it was created by Democratic allies

28:43and paid for. So, you know, yeah, these people are full of it.

32:09All right, guys. Well, Jesse Jackson passed away, and his funeral was held on, I

32:17believe, Friday, his homegoing services.

32:20And despite, I think, some pleas that it not become a political rally, it most

32:28certainly did in the hands of very prominent people who spoke, including former President Obama,

32:36former President Biden. I believe Kamala Harris also spoke.

32:39And I think Clinton was.

32:41there as well. And a lot of their comments ended up being not about Jesse

32:46Jackson, but about the only person any of them think about.

32:50Lives red tree in their head.

32:53Yeah. And, you know, I have my own thoughts on this.

32:57This, of course, has had there's a history of funerals being turned into political moments

33:02and not going so great, particularly the Paul Wellstone funeral is the most famous instance

33:08of this. And it really created a backlash against Democrats.

33:11I'm not sure that this one will, because Democrats are used to everything being so

33:15politicized. Yeah. But there was some backlash from a very important person in this process.

33:20And that is Jesse Jackson, Jr., the son of Jesse Jackson, who had this to

33:25say about that service and how it went down.

33:29I listened for several hours of three United States presidents who do not know Jesse

33:41Jackson. He maintained a tense relationship with the political order, not because the presidents were

33:56white or black, but the demands of our message, the demands of speaking for the

34:04least of these, those who were disinherited, the damned, the dispossessed, the disrespected, demanded not

34:14Democratic or Republican solutions, but demanded a consistent, prophetic voice that at no point in

34:26time ever sold us out as a people.

34:31And it speaks volumes about who the Reverend Jesse Jackson was.

34:39Our message has already been delivered today.

34:42I can see it all over my mother's face.

34:47Rise, Jesse, rise. Give Jonathan Jackson another great round of applause for delivering our family

34:57message to the world. Good for him.

35:00I don't understand how other funerals have gotten turned into such political rallies.

35:06And I find it disturbing, especially when the politicians largely don't know the person that

35:13has died. It's so obvious and it's so calculated that I get why he'd be

35:20upset and I would be too.

35:22Yeah, because the focus should be on the person.

35:25And I get it. Whenever it's a political person, you're going to have a bunch

35:29of political figures there who have problems avoiding the temptation of making everything political.

35:36And some of that is within bounds.

35:38I just think, of course, the standard is completely differently applied during Charlie Kirk's memorial

35:46service, which I thought did a really nice job, did have political figures, but really

35:50kept it focused on his faith, his mission and him, as opposed to like overwhelmingly

35:57doing modern political rhetorical jaunts.

36:02It was nonetheless criticized for that.

36:05And then you have this stuff that's very, very blatant.

36:08And it's like, yeah, but this is for good.

36:10It's for good. Right, right.

36:11Yeah. Charlie Kirk stuff, that's for icky stuff, but this is for good stuff.

36:14And that's really the standard.

36:16And that shouldn't be the standard when you're honoring someone who has passed away.

36:20Yeah, it's actually very reminiscent of our first topic and the way that the media

36:24massages the news to make the left look better than they are and, you know,

36:30frequently does the exact opposite to the right.

36:32And we're supposed to just take it.

36:35Good for Jesse Jackson Jr.

36:36for saying something about it.

36:38It's actually quite brave because if the family does have any political ambitions, it is

36:44still Obama running the show over there and taking kind of that direct hit and

36:48saying that Jesse Jackson had problems with the political establishment.

36:51That could only mean Obama.

36:53Who else on that squad is the political establishment at this point?

36:57It was braver than it seemed.
