2:52In the last week, we've had one of the biggest CSAR missions ever conducted in

2:57U .S. history, two pilots on E &E in the mountains of Iran.

3:02We have one of the most decorated SAS, Australian SAS soldiers in history, be brought

3:09up on war crimes in Afghanistan.

3:13We've had a bunch of Green Berets and Navy SEALs that got busted for being

3:18their own assassination team for a foreign government.

3:22And finally, just this morning, the Israeli consulate in Turkey gets shot up by some

3:28bad guys. I'll tell you what, a lot of former operators and current operators are

3:34getting their op on. Today, on The David Rutherford Show.

3:38Booyah. All right, Jordy. Holy shit, buddy.

3:51Today, we have absolutely, like, this is the operator's delight episode, all right?

3:57If you're an operator or you want to be an operator or you dig operator

4:02shit, I'm going to tell you what, this is the episode for you because I'm

4:07telling you what, the four stories we're going to cover today are absolutely, paints the

4:14essential picture of the various stages of an operator's life, right?

4:22This is no shit, I'm telling you.

4:24This is the way, this is the narrative of the war.

4:27And I, I know, if you're listening, hey, I live this life, maybe not as

4:31quite as aggressive as if, have some friends who are in this ballpark in a

4:36bunch of ways, right? But this is the reality of what's going on.

4:39So let's jump right in.

4:40All right. This past weekend, I think we, everybody was paying attention, was on their,

4:46you know, the, on pins and needles and, and paying attention to this incredible CSAR,

4:52which is a pilot rescue and recovery mission conducted by, I don't even know how

4:59many different units were involved in, in this CSAR rescue attempt over in Iran.

5:04And if you're not familiar, here's some of the background.

5:08An F -15 E -strike Eagle from the 48th fighter wing over in UK was

5:15shot down over Southwestern Iran by, by what Iran calls a shoulder fire missile, right?

5:22And so that's really key to understand in terms of.

5:25You know, in the context of a grander invasion or terrorist attacks around the world,

5:32how absolutely effective shoulder -fired missile systems are, right?

5:36And there obviously are reports of these things all over, some that have gotten out

5:41of Ukraine, some that have come across the border.

5:43Obviously, any one of these countries in the Middle East is going to have an

5:49opportunity to get their hands on them, in particular Iran, with the size of their

5:52military that they have. Well, one of the interesting things is, you know, this is

5:58the first aircraft that we've lost and had a pilot down since 2003 Iraqi invasion.

6:04There was one in Serbia that became a famous incident, and really, it's pretty powerful.

6:11Now, if you want to understand how powerful these are in terms of or how

6:17difficult, probably the most incredible one I've ever heard is the story of Tommy Norris,

6:23who was a Navy SEAL in Vietnam, who was taken off a very covert mission

6:30to come in and go rescue three downed pilots in North Vietnam.

6:34There was a movie with Gene Hackman about this.

6:40They really didn't portray Tommy Norris' story, but you can look it up.

6:43He received the Medal of Honor for this.

6:45This was in April of 1972.

6:48Just an absolute incredible mission.

6:51Tommy ended up rescuing two of the three downed pilots.

6:55Just amazing. You can check out in a book called Bound by Honor, which tells

6:59Tommy Norris' story, and then to follow a further later on mission where Mike Thornton,

7:05another Navy SEAL, received the Medal of Honor for actually saving Tommy Norris' life in

7:11a recon mission that went wrong.

7:13But, all right, so let's get back to this.

7:15All right, so, you know, you had, the pilot was obviously located very quickly off

7:22after he ejected, right? Every pilot carries a seesaw radio with pre -programmed frequencies.

7:29The challenge with that radio is as soon as you turn it on, enemy forces

7:33can triangulate where your location is.

7:35So, every pilot, based on once they have their idea of where they are, once

7:43they get out their GPS, their compass, they figure out exactly where they are in

7:48their 10 -digit grid, then they can figure out, obviously, based on enemy response or

7:54civilian response, they'll have an E &E, an escape and evasion protocol that they file.

7:59And every pilot has to go through what's called SEER school, search, escape, rescue, invasion.

8:05Every special operations force that goes downrange has to go through SEER, and we have

8:10advanced SEER. Green Berets have a very notorious elite SEER training.

8:15I went through SEER back in the day.

8:18And everybody has, even pilots, helicopter pilots, all pilots, everybody has to go through SEER.

8:23So, they're very highly trained on how to do this.

8:25But the SEER mission itself is a very complicated, time -oriented mission for obvious reasons,

8:33right? The pilot is trying to escape and evade to save his own life because,

8:37as you can imagine, if a pilot gets captured by enemy forces, he becomes an

8:43incredible value, not only for the information or intelligence he has that can be extrapolated

8:48through enhanced interrogation techniques, or the fact that he can become a leveraging tool to

8:56negotiate, right? And certainly, as I think both sides are reportedly pursuing negotiation tactics, somebody

9:05having a downed pilot would give them substantial leverage, right?

9:10So, you know, the first pilot was wrapped up and recovered pretty quickly.

9:15But there was another pilot that was still out there on E &E.

9:20We saw recently that Trump came out and he said he's going to fry the

9:24leaker who came out. Well, supposedly, the leaker was one of Netanyahu's top journalists over

9:30in Israel who actually leaked that information.

9:32I haven't been able to confirm yet, but that's the alleged report right now.

9:36Now, so, you know, in the ensuing rescue attempt, another Black Hawk helicopter was struck

9:44by Iranian fire during the rescue but did stay airborne.

9:48But on the other hand, and there was another separate where an A -10 Warthog,

9:52Mr. Dale Stark's aircraft of choice, nothing better than that sound if you're out on

9:58E &E, I bet, were providing support, was hit near the Strait of Hormuz, and

10:04the pilot flew into Kuwaiti airspace and then ejected and ditched the aircraft.

10:09Now, the invasion was roughly, for the other pilot, was Friday through Saturday.

10:15And this pilot had to escape into the Zagros Mountains where he hiked up to

10:19a 7 ,000 -foot ridge.

10:21Now, again, man, you know, you're flying a mission, you get shot out of the

10:25sky, you hit the thing, your aircraft crashes, all hell's breaking loose.

10:30Everybody's out trying to hunt you down, trying to find you.

10:33Man, you got to hustle and book you.

10:35So it's a good thing that rule number one, cardio, was intact for this guy

10:39to be able to get up on that ridge line.

10:41Now, he ended up hiding, supposedly, in this mountain crevasse for about 24 hours.

10:48And again, with that radio, you want to be restrictive as you turn that thing

10:52on. to make comms with any uh the rescue unit that's trying to put together

10:57the seesar mission for you now he sent one short radio burst he said god

11:02is good uh pretty cool if you ask me i uh if you want to

11:05go up on uh cool factor points for anybody on the ground right rule number

11:10one is always be cool and god is good is definitely cool um you know

11:14um one of the things is you know when uh a transmission does come for

11:20a particular thing you want to make sure it's actually the person because it could

11:24be a trap the enemy could have recovered him taking it forced that gunpoint for

11:29him to turn it on so they could use it and and pass over whatever

11:33they thought they needed to pass right um now iran launched a massive counter manhunt

11:38for this guy including irgc soldiers they offered a sixty thousand dollar bounty on state

11:44tv they appealed to armed civilian tribesmen and everybody um you know and there's a

11:52ton of bbc recorded footage of these people firing uh arms at you know the

11:58c -130s that are patrolling the the black hawk helicopters that are constantly patrolling and

12:03you gotta imagine as you know once they get a vector on this guy you

12:07know they'll have like 19 aircraft stacked up ready if anybody gets near to just

12:13vaporize these people with either a specter gunship or a predator drone strikes or apache

12:20helicopters just mowing these people down to keep this pilot safe um you know there

12:26was also this interesting cia cia deception campaign uh which is always interesting when when

12:33the agency gets involved right and what they're allegedly saying happened is the agency past

12:38misinformation and disinformation through uh iranian channels um and the i obviously the the goal

12:46is to confuse any responding iranians as to uh you know the guy was already

12:51picked up with the other guy was picked up or whatever it might be oh

12:55we saw him over here we saw him over there maybe even dropping uh false

13:00beacons in and around to distract where he might be um you know my favorite

13:06is that they used uh unique uh in quotations unique capabilities uh to distract uh

13:12the air you know or uh to distract them now the one one shot that

13:17was put out from iran that i thought was awesome which probably was ai but

13:21i thought it was funny was there was a group of iranians holding up uh

13:25american flag boxer briefs and i just thought that was awesome hey if i'm gonna

13:30go on e and e i'm gonna dump my drawers uh to get out there

13:34so i have less rub right and rub's a real thing when you're on e

13:37and e i'm telling you that for sure um now the extraction you know uh

13:42saturday night into sunday morning this was pretty amazing to me and if these numbers

13:47are actually correct 155 aircraft were involved right hundreds hundreds of special operations troops when

13:56we would train we used to train where you'd have one platoon maybe that was

14:00on the ground doing this but obviously trump didn't want any chance that this thing

14:06went sideways although a huge aspect of it did go sideways in the rescue attempt

14:13um they had uh some very significant complications they had uh two c130 uh um

14:2113 zero 130 j transport aircraft malfunctioned on the ground and they they had to

14:28destroy these uh the u .s forces destroyed these along with four helicopters um in

14:36order to deny the technology that's in them to iran so you know one of

14:40the interesting parallels when you think back to the iran hostage crisis in 1980 there

14:45was an old uh delta force operation that had taken place back then called desert

14:50claw uh or was it eagle claw uh operation eagle claw was back in the

14:56day where a helicopter and one of those c130 fuel uh replacements uh connected the

15:02helicopter ran in and they both exploded and they ended up having to kank that

15:06mission unfortunately for this one uh that didn't uh affect them they ended up going

15:11in uh um really uh establishing a presence on the ground with those not only

15:20the the the stacks of of surgical air capabilities above but hundreds of special forces

15:27now uh we haven't found out if it seals or green berets yet could have

15:31been a combination of both could have been rangers in there right uh certainly air

15:36force pararescue men uh they're the most highly trained pjs uh are the most highly

15:43trained for that csar mission out there there's their avsoc units are absolutely phenomenal at

15:48what they do uh but i'm sure uh they probably uh took every uh uh

15:53soft guy around who wanted to go shoot iranians and be hey you want to

15:58go they're like i'm in i'm all over that um um one of the interesting

16:03things there were no major entries as obvious uh aside from a sprained ankle no

16:08other americans were killed apparently allegedly there were some iranian people that were killed on

16:13the ground um you know and and what they're calling it is one of the

16:17most uh incredible csar missions and and and and and and and and and and

16:19and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and

16:20and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and

16:20and in American history. And, you know, this is a really interesting thing.

16:24You know, we used to train for CSAR and everything we do.

16:28And, and like I said, CSAR can be incredibly complex in particular, as it relates

16:33to the terrain that you're going to be operating in, right?

16:36And this guy was obviously in mountainous terrains, which makes it very difficult to move.

16:42It makes it very difficult to find him or spot him, right?

16:47It makes it very difficult to get to him or access to him in terms

16:51of being able to land helicopters in the area or close enough in proximity.

16:57All these things become very tedious.

16:59The other is dependent upon the climate of what's going on.

17:03If it's dry, hot, and arid, you know, the guy doesn't have a lot of

17:07water on him. He may just have a Camelback or one E &E canteen on

17:14him. Or if they're injured, it makes it incredibly difficult from the ejection because, you

17:19know, that ejection is, you know, you're going 300, 200 miles an hour.

17:23You pull your ejection, you get shot out at, you know, a bunch of G

17:27-forces. Maybe you hit the canopy, maybe you don't.

17:30You know, your fall to the ground isn't like, you know, you're free fall and

17:33it's a controlled crash essentially going 30, 40 miles an hour.

17:38You know, then all of a sudden you hit the ground and you've got a

17:41bunch of people who are trying to hunt you down pretty quickly.

17:45So, you know, that mission is very difficult both, you know, for the pilot to

17:50be on E &A and to think clearly and escape, but also the complexity of

17:55making sure you're tracking the guy, getting to him in an effective way, making sure

18:00you can hold off any responding forces and safely extract without any casualties.

18:05And once again, U .S.

18:07Special Operations community has done so, has, you know, completed another absolutely insane operation, which,

18:17you know, for me is just fantastic because what it proves is that our Special

18:22Operations guys are just, you know, so good and so amazing at what they do.

18:28I just commend and am so proud of all of the individuals that were participating.

18:33I'm proud of that plot, those pilots who didn't shit the bed and were able

18:37to really effectively support and enhance their ability to get found.

18:42So, again, but as I back out of this thing, again, you know, you have

18:49to take a close assessment of this and recognize that, you know, Iran has the

18:55capabilities to shoot down our fighters, to disrupt rescue missions.

19:00However, those C -130s got impeded from their ability to complete it.

19:06We had to destroy that.

19:08And, you know, what it means is that there are vulnerabilities and there always is.

19:13So, you know, yeah, we want to be proud of our guys, but we also

19:16want to recognize that in war, there are bad things that happen.

19:21We've already taken, you know, 13 casualties and others.

19:24Some reports are it's in the hundreds that have been injured on some of these

19:27base attacks. So, war is hell regardless.

19:30But, yeah, we should be super fired up and really commend the special operations community

19:35and all those others, the agency, their ground assets or some of their sources in

19:42this very, very successful CSAR rescue mission.

19:47So, way to go, boys.

23:06Ben Robert Smith. Ben Robert Smith is the Australian SAS guy that is being brought

23:17up on civilian charges, which is always interesting, for war crimes he committed in multiple

23:25years in Afghanistan. Now, what's interesting is one of my good buddies, a former team

23:34guy, a teammate I knew, who also was a tier one unit for us, actually

23:40was overseas and served with this unit for what's called the PEP billet and basically

23:50said that these guys were absolutely impeccable in their operational capabilities and their work ethic

23:57and what they did. He did a combat deployment to Afghanistan with them.

24:00I forget what year it was, but he said these guys are phenomenal operators across

24:07the board. To give you a little bit more background on who Ben Robert Smith

24:14is, he's a 47 -year -old former corporal in Australia's Special Air Service.

24:19That's SAS, Special Air Service Regiment, SASR, which is their tier one unit over there.

24:27He's Australia's most decorated living soldier.

24:31Let me repeat that. He's their most decorated living soldier.

24:34He was awarded the Victoria Cross, which is their Medal of Honor for actions in

24:41Afghanistan in 2010, which was a hellacious year for Afghanistan combat, plus the Medal for

24:48Gallantry in 2006. Now, I'll tell you, when my first deployment over to Afghanistan, I

24:56got to parlay a little bit with the Australian SASR guys and really learned a

25:03ton from them. I remember that unit being one of the first units that figured

25:08out how to go out and really pick fights.

25:11So they're super aggressive and they're super good at what they do, which is turning

25:17long range, long time frame reconnaissance, 30 day plus reconnaissance into picking fights with the

25:26enemy. They're really spectacular at doing this.

25:30We learned a lot from those guys.

25:32Now, to get in this, he had six tours to Afghanistan between 06 and 2012.

25:38He actually met with Queen Elizabeth II and his portrait hung in the Australian War

25:44Memorial. That's how significant a role this guy played in the history of the Australian

25:50SAS in their involvement in the GWAT.

25:54All right, the arrest, April 7th, 2026.

25:58He was arrested by Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport.

26:03He was charged with five counts of war crime murder, which is a maximum penalty

26:10of life imprisonment. The charges related to the deaths of Afghan nationals between 2009 and

26:162012 in Erdogan province, which is one of the deadliest, most active and aggressive provinces

26:23you could operate in. We did a couple ops there in my day and two

26:29counts directly causing death and three counts ordering subordinates to kill unarmed civilians.

26:37Now, he is the only second Australian Afghanistan veteran ever charged with a war crime.

26:42All right, here's the prosecution's case.

26:45This is the allegation that Whiskey 108 mission in 2009, that he machine gunned an

26:53arm armed man with a prosthetic leg.

26:56Now, it's reported allegedly that the soldiers later drank beer from this guy's prosthetic leg.

27:03Now, again, what you have to understand is that there were people in his own

27:13unit who testified against him, but I'll get to that here in a little little

27:17bit right as well as there were Taliban members in Afghanistan that testified uh and

27:25I'll tell you about that which is again bizarre but all right all right so

27:31uh the other allegation in the Whiskey 108 mission in 2009 uh pressured a newly

27:37deported SAS soldier to execute an elderly unarmed Afghan called blooding the rookie kind of

27:45an initiation in doc uh tradition uh or ritual whatever you want to look at

27:51it the other allegation is from the Darwan mission in 2012 where he kicked a

27:56handcuffed civilian Ali John off a cliff and then old ordered his soldiers to shoot

28:02him and then there was another mission in 2012 where he ordered another soldier to

28:06shoot an Afghan male who was under detention uh SAA witness testified under pseudonyms to

28:14score sheets which is a body count competition among operators in a 2023 civil court

28:21found allegations to be in quotes substantially true based on a balance of probabilities so

28:29that's the key thing the balance of probabilities now this is unique to Australian civil

28:35court all right and and as the defenders case this is what they put this

28:40that uh Robert Smith maintains his complete innocence as and has denied all charges since

28:462018 uh he claims the men killed at Whiskey 108 were legitimate targets Taliban fighters

28:54shot lawfully in the heat of battle at Darwan it says he and another soldier

28:59lawfully shot killed a Taliban member hiding in a cornfield not a handcuffed civilian uh

29:05he argues the witnesses are jealous former colleagues who fabricated testimony because he received the

29:13Victoria Cross the Medal of Honor for that uh an investigation had no access to

29:19Afghan crime scenes no forensic evidence no photograph no ballistics and the investigator acknowledged a

29:27challenging starting point to begin these accusations with uh this is uh and the other

29:33thing is that he was support Robert Smith was supported by former PM Tony Abbott

29:38who asked why alleged crimes were caught weren't caught by senior officers in the after

29:45actions reporting of these particular incidents um now here's an interesting thing uh 2020 this

29:54is the fascinating Bretton uh Barretton report found credit credible evidence of 39 unlawful killings

30:02across Australian soft in Afghanistan of the 53 war crimes investigations open 39 were closed

30:10without charges many allegations did not survive any scrutiny now here's a kicker Afghan witnesses

30:17testified from a Taliban controlled Kabul uh the reliability and court coercion questions are are

30:26pretty substantial if you ask me on those the Taliban committed systemic war crimes for

30:3220 years mass executions torture child soldiers uh with zero international prosecutions right the Australian

30:40military whistleblower David McBride who helped expose the uh war crimes guess what remains imprisoned

30:52all right here's the deal when I talk about war crimes on a battlefield do

30:57they happen hell yeah they happen they happen a bunch they happen a ton um

31:03but the reality is um you know there are a lot of war crimes in

31:09combat uh even by the righteous people you could go back and you could evaluate

31:15uh uh thousands of different scenarios from world war ii uh post world war ii

31:22to uh to korea to vietnam remember we had the maile incident we have uh

31:28iraqi incidents abu grabe right all these incidents of war crimes um and when you

31:35start going down uh that reality of war crimes and war um i found that

31:42you typically have an axe to grind uh or you have people looking to make

31:47rank uh the most prolific one for me uh was my friend eddie gallagher uh

31:53who was tried for war crimes in a 2017 deployment to mosul uh where he

31:59and uh his teammates were clearing out isis for us um you know where three

32:05junior members of his platoon who essentially didn't want to go up to the front

32:09lines anymore because uh they probably got a little nervous um ended up uh telling

32:16uh jumping in their superiors and going directly to ncis and saying that eddie had

32:22killed an isis fighter on combat and then murdered him while conducting uh medical experiments

32:28on him and the aftermath um uh and for that eddie gallagher was looking at

32:33life imprisonment um you know very uh uh uh interesting uh dichotomy or uh thing

32:41that begins to happen and Here's what I will tell you.

32:45The battlefield is not a courtroom.

32:47And the fact that for the entire GWAT, I mean, in my very first giant

32:54mission that we did in Afghanistan back in 02, we had a lawyer come in

33:00and brief us on what we could not and could not do.

33:03So when you start to think about that, there's law on the battlefield in some

33:09capacity. That's where things are always going to get a little sketchy.

33:13Right now, do I believe that we need to have restraints?

33:18Yeah, absolutely. Does killing innocent civilians and women and children and the elderly, is that

33:24legit? Fuck no. If you're caught doing that, do I think you should go to

33:28jail? Hell yeah. Does it happen in extremity, extremity, extremity circumstances?

33:34Hell yeah. If a platoon is pinned down and there are danger close to being

33:38overrun and killed, would I advocate for a 500 -pound bomb being dropped on the

33:44attacker's force? And if there's collateral damage with that, do I agree to that?

33:49Yeah. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to go with that one.

33:51Is it right? No. Is my conscience going to carry the load on that?

33:55Yeah, for sure. But that's war.

33:57Right? And so you got to always be leery of being an armchair quarterback and

34:04passing judgment about what people do on the battlefield.

34:09You know, the idea about this, there's this thing, they call it the tall poppy

34:13syndrome, I guess, which is this jealousy of him receiving the Victoria Cross.

34:20That's a reality. That's a true thing.

34:22You know, when guys in units get awards that other guys don't get, yeah, it

34:28can be incredibly challenging. I mean, I have several friends that came out and kind

34:34of became the face to receive accolades for specific events.

34:38And there's a lot of people that are really upset with the attention that they've

34:43gotten, including the families of some of the fallen that were involved in these operations.

34:50You know, I try and always stay out of what I wasn't a part of.

34:54I try and restrict my commentary on what did or did not happen.

34:59That's between the guys that were on the battlefield.

35:03But I do know this is a reality.

35:06So, yeah, it's possible that, you know, these guys.

35:09But again, here's the here's the interesting one.

35:12You know, there were there were 20 dudes who testified against him.

35:17So if it's one to three to five.

35:22Yeah. You know, I that makes sense.

35:25But when you have 20 people testifying against, you know, that's why I'm really interested

35:31to read these court transcripts and to see what was written when this comes out.

35:36I think it should be a relatively a really good story.

35:42You know, one of the others, the last little piece I want to talk about

35:45is, you know, when you're coming back and you do AARs and, you know, we

35:50there was this, you know, I thought.

35:55About Andy Stump having Rob O 'Neill on recently his podcast to talk about AARs

36:01and what happens. Yeah. Do AARs get scrubbed by guys overseas to cover up different

36:07things that go on the battlefield?

36:08Hell, yeah, they do. They always have.

36:10It's just a part of, you know, this process.

36:14You know, are AARs sent up to the headshed for them?

36:19Yeah. And then that's incumbent upon, you know, your senior officers to do the next

36:24level investigation if there's questions about what happened or didn't happen.

36:28So, you know, is this the end of this kind of thing?

36:32No. This is always going to be relevant in the history of combat.

36:35It is what it is.

36:36Hell, back in the old days, there was nothing like this.

36:39It didn't exist. There were no war crimes or anything.

36:42So just the fact that Western societies presumed to hold themselves accountable to war crimes,

36:50you know, that says something.

36:53But, again, just in the most recent war in Iran, we've seen some questionable things,

36:59most particularly the bombing of the girls' school in Iran, yet to see any culpability

37:03for that. All right. Whew.

37:07We're on a roll. Before I jump into that, I just want to really talk

42:20If I had, dude, if I had a dollar, honest to God, do you know

42:24what the number one thing that dudes, when I was in, when we were not

42:29working, we were downrange, you know what the number one thing that we would do

42:32in our off time was?

42:34I'm sure it's not working at a coffee shop.

42:37No, no, definitely not working at the coffee shop.

42:40It's not playing World of Warcraft, right?

42:44No. It's, it's sitting around talking about how we were going to make millions being

42:51mercenaries once we got out, right?

42:55That's just the thing. That's just the thing you do.

42:57I'm telling you what, our plan on the West Coast was we would come back

43:03from deployment, right? We'd have our 30 -day down window, which nobody really knows what's

43:08up, right? We come back and before we kind of check in and everything gets

43:15processed, all of our, our bags, our kit and all that, we just sneak down

43:20in Mexico, take down a cartel, right?

43:23Pull in, I don't know, $20 million, come back in, go bury it out in

43:29the desert for five years, right?

43:32Everybody gets their, goes out and when they retire, you go out, you take your

43:37little piece, right? And then, We figure out how to launder that stuff, and next

43:42thing you know, we've got our little seed money for the rest of our lives,

43:46dude. Perfect. What could go wrong?

43:48What could go wrong, right?

43:51Well, I'll tell you what could go wrong.

43:53So last week, the Spear Operations Group was basically came out that Abraham Golan, an

44:06Israeli -Hungarian dual citizen and former Special Forces Commando, the founder and CEO of Spear

44:13Operations Group, basically ran an assassinations hit team out of a $7 million mansion in

44:21Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego.

44:24Isaac Gilmore, a former Navy SEAL who was the COO of Spear, he had been

44:29decommissioned from the military for accidentally shooting a fellow SEAL during training.

44:36All right, there's one, there's to have a negligent discharge, and then there's to have

44:40a negligent discharge that shoots your body.

44:42That's pretty much grounds for dismissal.

44:44And then get this, one of the most famous Delta operators there is, Dale Comstock,

44:50former Delta Green Beret, was recruited as the head of the targeted assassination.

44:56And he was paid $40 ,000 a month plus bonuses for the successful assassinations.

45:02Now, these people have been under investigation, and basically, all three defendants publicly admitted their

45:14roles in BuzzFeed interviews, BBC documentaries, and different podcasts out of there.

45:20So it's not even like they denied it, right?

45:24So here's the operation. So it was incorporated in Delaware in 2015 and dissolved in

45:302018. And the UAE, the United Arab Emirates, paid Spear $1 .5 million a month

45:38plus bonuses for successful assassinations.

45:42The deal was brokered over lunch, an Italian restaurant in UAE, military base in Abu

45:47Dhabi. And the team was given a 23 -person kill list, cards with names and

45:53faces, by a uniform Emirati officer upon landing in Yemen.

45:59The Thai targets were primarily members of Al -Isla, Yemen's branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

46:06UAE designated them terrorists in 2014.

46:09Critics dispute this. A senior Al -Isla member who won the 2011 Nobel Prize says,

46:18no, we're not part of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorists.

46:21Gilmore admitted some targets may have been people who simply fell out of favor with

46:30UAE royal family. Think about this just for a second.

46:34Just for a second. Now, hold on.

46:37Before I extrapolate this into fantasy land, it's not fantasy land, it's reality.

46:45And guess what? I've got one word for you.

46:49The Hessians, right? You remember who George Bush had to murder when he crossed the

46:54Delaware River in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve?

46:58Guess where? They were German mercenaries that the British had hired to take out us.

47:06So to think that, go back to what, who was the one group back in

47:14ancient Ukraine? It was, man, they were a huge for hire.

47:20It was the Khazarians, the empire, right?

47:24You had Rome, you'd use mercenaries all over the world, right?

47:29So, you know, this isn't just a one -off story.

47:32I thought this was just a crazy story.

47:34No, dude, dude. You tell me this happens a lot.

47:36Dude, the Mexican cartels have been using foreign mercenaries to train all for years.

47:42And the fact that these UAE, these Gulf Coast states who have trillions of dollars

47:49in revenue, who don't want their own people to go do their fight because, you

47:53know, they don't do that shit.

47:53Why not pay the heathens, the knuckle -draggers, to go do it, went and found

47:58themselves a bunch of Navy SEALs and Green Berets, you know, to target some Muslim

48:03Brotherhood. These guys are like, I don't give a shit who they are.

48:05I'll kill anybody, anybody, as long as it's, as long as it's, in quotations, terrorists,

48:11and I can make, you know, a couple million dollars for my efforts, to hell

48:15with it. Why not? Why shouldn't I do that?

48:18It beats being a Walmart greeter.

48:20Hello, nice to meet you, right?

48:22Now, all right. Now, the interesting thing was that the assassination attempt took place in

48:32December 2015, and Comstock placed an explosive charge at this guy, Mayo, Al Aisha party

48:43in headquarters in Aden, Yemen.

48:45Drone Finage captured the full attack, the explosion, the gunfight, then the booby -trap SUV

48:50detonated. Comstock said, in -court docs, I was going to try, I was going to

48:55open the door and throw a couple hand grenades and then just go run in

48:58and shoot everybody. That's the Leroy Jenkins approach right there.

49:02Dude, I was just thinking the same thing.

49:05B -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m

49:06-m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m -m.

49:06Roy Jenkins. And if you don't know what Leroy Jenkins, look it up, go grok

49:11it, and you'll find out it's hilarious.

49:13This is, I think, our second Leroy Jenkins reference since the show started.

49:17We're going to keep it going.

49:18Yeah, we will, for sure.

49:19All right, the USA also recruited former al -Qaeda members, including a USS coal -bombing

49:26suspect, into their security forces.

49:29Despite public omissions, the DOJ has never charged anyone.

49:32Under the War Crimes Act or federal conspiracy statutes, the CIA has stated the claim

49:40that it signed off on these operations is false.

49:42Now, again, this is nothing new.

49:45Remember the last one, which was the other special forces guy that tried to set

49:50up an overthrow of Maduro down in Venezuela, who's now on the run, apparently?

49:55That guy is out there doing it.

49:58And if you think there aren't a bunch of former Spetsnauts or, you know, what

50:03is the mercenary group from Russia?

50:07You remember what they're called?

50:09Mercenary from Russia. Yeah, yeah, the guy.

50:11Yeah, Putin killed the head guy when he got over his skis in Ukraine.

50:15The Wagner group. The Wagner group.

50:17They're out there doing it.

50:18Yeah, there's groups from every country all over the place.

50:22It doesn't take much and your skills are valuable.

50:26So, again, while you're sitting in that woke ass course at college trying to go

50:35through, you know, your therapy counseling, wink, wink, nod, nod to my buddy who had

50:40to do that recently, who's a former tier one unit guy.

50:44You could be out there doing targeted assassinations for the UAE, and you get away

50:50with it, by the way.

50:51That's what this is saying, is that you get away with this, right?

50:57Yeah, unbelievable. All right. You know, one of the things about, you know, if you're

51:05thinking about becoming a mercenary, it's a very short -lived operation, I can tell you

51:10that. There are also hundreds of stories of these guys getting wrapped up and put

51:16in, you know, the dankest, nastiest prisons in all around the world and being left

51:23to rot there because, guess what?

51:25Plausible deniability, right? If you're out there conducting these types of missions, generally, the U

51:31.S. government is not coming to get you, like if you were a hostage, right?

51:36They're going to let you rot.

51:38So, you know, you want to make some quick cash, roll the dice, have at

51:42it. But the ramifications, if you do get busted, death or imprisonment in these places

51:48where you'll rot for the rest of your life, tortured, beaten, raped, all those different

51:52things, you can't imagine anything worse.

51:56Last but least, today's attacks on the Israeli constant in Istanbul.

52:07What happened? Three gunmen opened fire around 12 .30 p .m.

52:13local time. They had long -barrel weapons, AKs and pistols.

52:18They engaged the Turkish police in a firefight.

52:21One attacker was killed. Two were wounded and detained.

52:23Two police officers were also injured.

52:25The Turkish interior minister said one of the attacker had links to an organization that

52:32exploits, in quotation, religion. I don't know what that means.

52:36The Israeli foreign ministry confirmed its consulate was not currently staffed.

52:41The Istanbul governor, David Gould, called it a move that reeks of provocation.

52:47Three prosecutors signed into the investigation.

52:50Turkey's justice minister confirmed on -site examinations underway.

52:56Okay, one of the things why this is kind of interesting right now, we did

53:00a show recently about the rise in radical or political -motivated attacks in a show,

53:07the new threat paradigm recently.

53:10And I think what this is, is something similar to what we're seeing, right?

53:16We're seeing direct engagements against the Israeli consulate, who, by the way, recently one of

53:24their ministers came out and said that Turkey is the new Iran, basically insinuating that

53:31that's going on. And there's a lot of other disgruntled people in Turkey as a

53:36result of Israel's actions taking place in southern Lebanon.

53:41They've displaced about 1 .2 million people in southern Lebanon in the last week, week

53:47and a half. There's over 1 ,400 people that have been killed in a bunch

53:51of old ancient villages have been leveled.

53:53Now, they say they're doing this for their security to push up approximately, I think

53:59it's like 14 % of all of Lebanon they're taking to give them a buffer

54:05zone from missiles. But again, basically, they've invaded Lebanon.

54:10So one of the interesting things to see is, are these attacks going to continue

54:16to elevate? I would imagine they do.

54:18I find it fascinating that we're not seeing any attacks originate from Syria right now,

54:24considering the former head of Syria is one of the former heads of al -Qaeda.

54:29That's an interesting perspective. We should pay attention to that.

54:33Also - Attention to Turkey, Jordan, and Egypt as well, too.

54:41Also, I think we should be watching Europe for further on attacks like this as

54:46well. Obviously, there's been hundreds of thousands of immigrants that have flooded into Europe from

54:52these particular regions and these areas and these sects, whether Sunni or Shia, that are

54:58not happening with what's going on.

55:02Now, again, this correlates to a lot of what we talked about in my episode

55:07with Sarah Adams. Go check that out about attacks that are going to take place

55:11in the West, both Europe as well as America, she feels, that there's like a

55:1795 % probability of this.

55:21But we are seeing these spikes in terror elevate, so we should pay attention.

55:26Now, what can you do?

55:27Again, get out there and train, carry, keep your head on a swivel, and recognize

55:32that we are in this new threat paradigm, and it's important for you to keep

55:38your head on a swivel.

55:43Dude, I tell you what, man, this has been a week for the operators, right?

55:50Good God almighty, man. I mean, in some cases for that guy Smith, it's not

55:55a good week for him, for sure.

55:57For the mercenaries, it seems like, yeah, man, this is awesome.

56:00We got away with it, made a bunch of cash, and we're good to go.

56:03It was a big week either way.

56:05Basically clearing hot for all of my buddies that are sitting on the sidelines waiting

56:09for the Civil War to clack off, right?

56:12They're all sitting into each other in group chats like, yo, did you see this?

56:16Oh, dude, they're texting them directly.

56:18Hey, man, how do I get on board?

56:19What's, you know, what is it, Gold Corp?

56:22Gold Corp, their signups just went up by like 85 % this week because of

56:28Spear. You know, it just, again, you know, it's really fascinating, you know, as a

56:35former operator and intelligence person, you know, you always try and wonder what your life

56:44is going to look like while you're in, obviously, and crazy shit happens for sure.

56:48And, you know, God bless those CSAR folks, man, that is obviously one of the

56:52most dangerous operations that can take place and one of the most complicated things to,

56:57in order to be effective in doing it.

56:59So bravo Zulu to all you guys, man, God bless you and your families.

57:02And I hope those pilots recover quickly.

57:04And, you know, some good awards are handed out to those cats for sure.

57:11On the flip side of that, you know, the war is still going on.

57:15It is still very dangerous.

57:16And we still have to be prepared for the backlash and all these because the

57:22more we continue to bomb or inflict civilian casualties or damage on civilian infrastructure to

57:31really put pressure on the Iranian people, I think, the more likely we're going to

57:35see these responses. So, yeah, man.
