0:49may not have been sitting in front of the computer writing out the words very

0:52slowly. Isn't that the case with everything in life, though?

0:55I mean, it's really who you know and, like, the people that you associate with

1:01and what you learn from them and their examples with everything.

1:05And there's no individuals that are responsible entirely for their own life.

1:09There are individuals, though, that would tell you that they are.

1:12Yeah, but those are the people that I don't hang out with.

1:17Yeah, I can't I can't suffer being in the presence of somebody who thinks that

1:21they had every idea and every right decision was theirs because I look at my

1:25own life. One, I can't compete with that because my life is defined by its

1:28mistakes and idiotic things I've done.

1:30But two, I just I don't get it.

1:32I'm a I'm a product of the people who I was raised by, the people

1:35I was around, the people still in my life.

1:37I mean. One hundred percent.

1:38We all are. If you don't think that you're delusional, that you cannot have an

1:44exceptional person that's surrounded by dipshits.

1:47They just won't. Eventually, they'll give in to dipshittery.

1:51It's contagious. Negative, negative people.

1:55You really got me thinking, though, if that is possible.

1:56I'm trying to think of an example.

1:58I probably shouldn't have said it's impossible.

1:59It could be possible, but it's very highly unlikely.

2:03And also, they didn't achieve their full potential, if that's the case.

2:06They would have been even better if they had been surrounded by exceptional people.

2:10Improbable at best. Yeah, at best.

2:12Yeah. I've never seen an example of it.

2:14Again, maybe one exists that I don't know about.

2:17But as far as all the exceptional people that I know, they all associate with

2:21other exceptional people. You know quite a few exceptional people.

2:25You have an interesting job that has a Venn diagram that is incredibly unique in

2:30the people you've been able to sit down with.

2:31It's pretty fucking weird. Did you ever think?

2:34No. First off, by the way, I try to point as many people as possible

2:37to JRE No. 1 because I think it's a masterpiece.

2:58And to where you are now where you were like sitting down and talking to

3:01some of the most influential people on the face of planet Earth?

3:04No. I mean, I think if I planned it out like that, it would have

3:07never worked, you know? You would have tried too hard, maybe?

3:10I don't know what I would have done.

3:12I mean, I probably would have been more careful, which would have made it less

3:16fun, which would have made it less attractive.

3:18You know, I think the two things that I've done that are really important is

3:23not pay attention to much online talk about me and just follow my interests and

3:30my instincts. Like, I book the whole thing entirely on instinct.

3:35I look at, like, all the different suggestions that come in and all the different

3:40requests to be on the show, and I go, no, me.

3:43Huh? What was that? Huh?

3:45Purely on self -interest? 100%.

3:47I think that's the way.

3:53I don't even know because I have a really good guy that filters out a

3:55lot of them. I bet it's got to be in the hundreds.

4:03down to, you know, like, what I—he knows me really well, and so he, you

4:08know, sends me, like, some physicist is working on some new thing, some quantum thing,

4:14this, that, the other thing.

4:15Like, there's a new person that's doing this, and there's new research on that, and

4:19then there's, you know, that kind of shit.

4:21Yeah, I think the difference between you and me is I appreciate the fact you

4:24can hold a conversation with those people.

4:26I would be sitting there listening to them with, like, the scroll wheel on a

4:30back. Like, do you have words that are smaller that could explain that to me?

4:35Well, some of them I have to really prepare for.

4:37Like, you know, if I have, like, a Brian Cox on or something like that,

4:40I'll really prepare. You know, or, you know, there's been a few people over time

4:46where I knew they were coming on, like, three months out, so I've read a

4:50couple of their books. I watched a few of their lectures.

4:54But then there's other ones, like, I could just hang out with them.

5:44He's broken it down to only eating eggs right now.

5:49He's getting all of his protein from eggs, which is a great source of protein,

5:52no doubt. That's exhaustingly boring, though.

6:17years now so he he got clear of it and uh he was eating meat

6:22again and he was fine and he thought it was over and then it came

6:25back he came back with a vengeance and it's it's a weird fucking disease because

6:30i let's find out put this into perplexity uh what uh what is the most

6:37what is as far as like the documented cases of this alpha gal syndrome when

6:43did it first uh start occurring in the united states because i had never even

6:49heard about it until evan when he told me about it i was like what

6:53you got a allergic to red meat and how can a tick bite cause it

6:57i mean lyme disease is another one like how does it do that a bite

7:00from a tick just jacks up the human body well apparently lyme disease has existed

7:05there's been forms of lyme disease throughout history but there's real solid evidence that lyme

7:12disease which is named lyme disease because of lyme connecticut is related to plum island

7:18where they were doing bioweapons research on ticks it's historically good idea and it's right

7:23there it's like literally right there and then the the the prevalence of lyme disease

7:27on the east coast is fucking outrageous it's outrageous how many ticks carry this fucking

7:33thing i know so many people that have lyme disease and that's a lifelong one

7:36too right like you're not getting off that train if you you can manage this

7:40you can cure it you can cure it people have cured it and they've particularly

7:43cured it if they get on antibiotics very quickly so um one of the weird

7:48things about lyme disease is it the bite has like a little target around it

7:52it's weird it's like it it almost looks like a bullseye because the infection as

7:57it grows there's a red circle around the bite and if that's and but that

8:00goes away within a few days but if that's recognized you bring it to a

8:04doctor they get you on antibiotics you can actually get off of it depending on

8:08the severity of your case obviously so here it is alpha gal syndromes appeared to

8:12have first emerged in the u .s in the late 1980s but was not recognized

8:15as a distinct tick related meat allergy until the early 2000s so in 89 clinicians

8:21in georgia collected about 10 cases of delayed allergic reactions to mammalian meat mammalian mammalian

8:29mammalian meat and linked them to prior tick bites these observations were not widely recognized

8:33at the time allergy was first formerly identified as originating from tick bites in the

8:38u .s by thomas platts mills in the early 2000s reports note this discovery process

8:44beginning around 2002 and becoming clear by 2007 huh so the in the medical literature

8:52is first described in 2009 when published work documented patients with delayed reactions to red

8:58meat and linked them to ige against alpha gal interesting so it seems like it's

9:06in the 80s but really started being recognized in the 2000s explain i mean he

14:55in uh in africa and one of the things that they did is this insane

15:00fucking rites of passage where they would circumcise them with this i don't remember the

15:07process but it was a particularly brutal process they sliced the tip of their dick

15:10off and then they would make them literally crawl through thorns what yeah like the

15:17whole idea is just like make you as hard as humanly possible and these guys

15:23they were pointing to this one tribe as developing exceptional marathon runners because these guys

15:29had such high pain tolerance and such like willingness to go through horrific ordeals what

15:37is it here it is initiation okay um so he says he had to crawl

15:43mostly naked through a tunnel of african stinging nettles then he was beaten on the

15:48bony parts of his ankle then his knuckles were squeezed together and then the formic

15:52acid from the stinging nettle was wiped onto his genitals but that was all just

15:56a warm -up early one morning he was circumcised with a sharp stick that's what

16:00it is a stick stick during this whole process the crawling the beatings and the

16:06cuttings try to say that guy's name no kip go kip go guy kip gogi

17:06in society as opposed to western pain avoiding one interesting yeah what is this where

17:13is this at in kenya is a kenyan tribe yeah i mean i'm gonna be

17:20honest with you joe if that's what they did to your people i would run

17:24pretty goddamn fast too because i would want to get the hell out of there

17:32imagine if that's the norm if that's your baseline you're like accustomed to that that's

17:37the worst thing that you go through and you have to do a completely stoic

17:41at a young age at a young age you would develop some insane tolerance to

17:47discomfort which i don't know if one time is enough though i mean like what

17:50they're describing is horrendous but true tolerance and resilience and ability to work through that

17:55stuff i don't think it's a singular event right not that marathon running is uh

17:59an easy endeavor by any stretch so they're continuing to do that i mean i

18:02get what they're doing that rite of passage but holy hell i mean that's pretty

18:07gnarly that's a thing that you you will see from ex -fighters and even ex

18:12-military guys like what they endured when they were young was so brutal that as

18:17they get older they avoid any discomfort at all they get fat and they just

18:21want to drink and be lazy and you're like how did you go from being

18:24that fucking beast till this slob and you know they still in their mind they're

18:31still a beast you know because i did this and i was a world champion

18:34and like a big fucking belly yeah they can't see their dick when they're naked

18:37anymore weird uh it's i don't have any stats on how but it's because they

18:43stop doing it correct right i mean laziness affects everybody right everybody thinks that you

18:48come from the special operations world and you're defined by discipline for the rest of

18:51your life no you're still a human being at the end of the day behind

18:54the curtain and you know gravity wants to keep guys like that on the couch

18:58just as much as everybody else yeah but i think you realize the utility of

19:02not allowing that to happen some people do some people do i mean that's true

19:05of every occupation in life sure you know yep yep maybe it's a little bit

19:09more uncommon for people to see those that came from that one of those occupations

19:13but yeah they're out there yeah i think that's probably in everything in the medical

19:17world i'm sure there's guys that like really paid attention in college and then they're

19:21kind of half -assing it as doctors yeah for sure yeah it's like the difficulty

19:26of the grind sometimes you get through it and then you just go i don't

19:31want to ever fucking do that again like i know guys who are former navy

19:35seals will not get in a fucking ice bath yeah i'm one of those hi

19:39nice to meet you why would i consensually do that no no and i also

19:45wish that they could make a sauna that was just room temperature but had all

19:49the health benefits i see sauna doesn't bother me at all i can tolerate that

19:54one way more than exceptionally cold water which it's i understand the health benefit i'm

19:59willing to pass on that particular health benefit to have it's emotional for me i

20:02just don't want to do that anymore i get it yeah i get it but

20:06what when i get to the cold plunge there's a the bitch in me is

20:11so loud but when i get to the sauna there's no bitch it's like just

20:15get in it's like i know it's gonna suck about 20 minutes in it'll suck

20:19for the last five minutes it's really gonna suck but the first 10 is easy

20:23i just high five my inner bitch at the cold plunge and turn around like

20:28why don't you take a laugh in that thing i'm done with it i almost

20:31don't do it every day every day i almost don't do it yeah it's harder

20:35emotionally than it is physically and uh it's weird because after a minute it's not

20:40that bad after one minute it's like you just kind of you develop like sort

20:44of a relaxation and you're cool yeah it's fine especially if you do it a

20:48lot but the first 10 15 seconds you're just like what am i doing you

20:54just want to get out you just want to quit like get me the fuck

20:58out of this 34 degree water with ice up to my neck fuck this this

21:03is so stupid i don't have to do that yeah you feel like you're having

21:06a heart attack but then you just chill and then when you get out you're

21:10like oh you feel so good it's so worth it or don't do it just

22:00apparently there's real data that it's harder for women it's harder for women to tolerate

22:04extreme cold weather cold temperatures and water apparently interesting yeah they even recommend like women's

22:10cold plunges be slightly warmer than men's yeah i don't know yeah i wonder what

22:17that would be i don't know something about their physiology that it might actually be

22:21detrimental to do 34 degrees that see if you can find any data on that

22:26you know who's a great what's her name suzanne soberg she's the one who created

22:30the sober principle she's one huberman sites all the time um but i think there's

22:37something to do maybe it's less muscle mass you know your body has a more

22:42difficult time heating itself up and you know creating a thermal barrier i don't know

22:47huberman is an example of a guy that i deeply respect but struggle to understand

24:40the water and almost all the training we did 9 11 was based around water

24:44um and i think let's see jamie you could look this up uh two seals

24:49recently drowned on a ship boarding a real world ship boarding uh you you up.

24:53One guy, it seems like, in the climb, peeled off the ladder and went into

24:58the water, and somebody saw him and went in with him because of the concept

25:01of being a swim buddy, never to be seen again.

25:05Oh. Yeah. Do they know what happened to them?

25:08I mean, it's, yeah, 2024 in the Arabian Sea.

25:14Oh, so he fell off a ship.

25:16Yeah, so they were approaching a vessel.

25:18I mean, there's a couple ways that you can get on a boat.

25:19You can come from a boat, and you can climb up, or you can go

25:22from a helicopter and fast rope down, or they could land, depending on how big

25:25the boat is. So they were coming up alongside.

25:27It's called an underway, or VBSS, visit, board, search, and seizure is the technical military

25:33term for it. And on the climb up the ladder, the guy fell off the

25:38ladder, and another one went in with him as a swim buddy.

25:42If they immediately, and there was, and maybe still is an ongoing investigation.

25:46From my understanding, they saw their head maybe one time up, and then they were

25:51gone. Their bodies were never recovered.

25:53So that would seem to be that they were wearing negatively buoyant equipment, so they

25:57were drug down, and they probably were not able to activate their life jackets in

26:01time, which is super unfortunate.

26:03But the water doesn't give a shit who you are and how much of a

26:07badass you are. I think it's one of the most gnarly environments on Earth.

26:10It really is. Every time I go in the ocean, and I swim in the

26:14ocean, there's this feeling like, I think I can make it to shore, but I

26:19might not be able to.

26:22Like, if you jump off of a boat, and you've got like a couple hundred

26:25yards to shore, as you start swimming, you start swimming like, I'm fine, I'm fine.

26:31Oh boy, my heart is going pretty fast here.

26:34I'm breathing pretty heavy. That's a long way.

26:37I'm moving very slowly. Yeah.

26:39Like, what if I can't do this?

26:42These are real positive thoughts to have when swim here, Joe.

26:45Yeah. Not good. Not good.

26:47Yeah. It's only happened to me a few times, but my friend Greg actually had

26:51to save a woman. He was on vacation.

26:53He saw a woman getting caught in the tide, and she was getting pulled out.

26:56Oh, like a riptide? Uh -huh.

26:58Those things will pull people out, never to be seen again.

27:01People don't – so I live up in northwestern Montana, and a lot of the

27:05– Flathead Lake, the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi is right where I

27:08live. And Glacier National Park, tons of snowfall, and so it's glacially fed rivers that

27:14feed into Flathead National Forest.

27:16Or not Flathead National Forest, Flathead Lake.

27:19And boating is a huge summertime activity, and people travel from all over the world

27:24to come to Montana to see GNP, Glacier National Park, and every year people are

27:29drowning in these rivers. And I don't know – it's dangerous, but it can be

27:36avoided, but it seems as if they just do not have respect for even medium

27:41-moving water. They have no exposure to it.

27:43They're not used to being in that water, and they don't look at it and

27:47realize, like, that'll kill me so incredibly fast.

27:50And every year people are going into that thing and dying.

27:52Every year. Well, it makes sense also that it's so fucking cold.

28:26Which happens when people get close to that point, they're going to – in your

28:32best attempt to save them, they will try to use you as a life raft

28:35and climb all over you.

28:36And the next thing you know, two people are gone instead of one.

28:38Right, right. Yeah, the water will eat your lunch, man.

28:42It's wild. But you would think we spend so much time training in the water

28:45that it wouldn't happen. I mean, there's diving accidents.

28:48There are deaths in training.

28:51How often does that occur, deaths in training?

28:54Oh, probably about every five years.

28:57And it sucks. And what I'm about to say people won't understand, but I also

29:02think it's essential. I don't want it to happen, but I think it probably is

29:09essential that it does every once in a while.

29:11Because the training has to be so difficult that you get to the brink.

29:14You have to train people for the job that they're going to be asked to

29:18do. And the training standards need to be a directly downstream reflection of what the

29:24career is going to be.

29:26And I don't have the vocabulary to describe how bad I feel for the families,

29:30and I'm not trying to minimize anybody's death.

29:33But you will lose more people in the real -world execution of the job if

29:38you don't make training that difficult than you will by making it that dangerous, knowing

29:43that it's going to be that dangerous and that people will die, that will have

29:46a positive impact on people surviving the actual job itself.

29:50That completely makes sense. That's just the realities of life.

29:55Yeah. Some jobs are very unique, and some jobs have very unique requirements, and you

29:59have to train for that.

30:00Or it's going to either come from you on the front end of that or

30:03the tail end of that.

30:04That's the balance of which one of those you're going to focus on.

30:06Which is why the lowering of standards is so fucking dangerous.

30:11And when it's talked about, like, the lowering of standards to make it fair for

30:16some applicants, like, there's no fair in that job.

30:20I've never seen a bullet change trajectory because it noticed what you had between your

30:25legs and wanted to go be more fair and equitable to somebody else.

30:28Yeah. It doesn't matter in those moments.

30:32Nor does the ocean give a fuck.

30:34No. No, I don't believe it does.

30:37Nope. There's no fair in the front.

30:39But it's so weird when we try to apply these workplace equity considerations to something

30:46that's as—like, literally—I can't think of a job that requires more of you than war.

30:53Like, there is—this is literally life or death and taking life.

30:57There's no job that requires more of you.

31:00And so you would just automatically assume the standards, especially for special operations guys, have—

31:07be the most stringent possible.

31:10You have to weed out all the bitches.

31:12You can't have any bitch in you at all.

31:15There's got to be none.

31:16No quit, no nothing. And there's only one way to do that.

31:19You have to make a bunch of people quit.

31:21A lot of the times the people who are bottom lining the policy changes don't

31:25have a direct impact in the training pipeline themselves or the execution of the job.

31:28Which is crazy. Yeah. I mean, the military is a bureaucratic system.

31:32Even in the special operations world, even at the JSOC level, people would be...

31:36It never really makes the movie the amount of paperwork that you end up doing.

31:40You go on a trip and you have to collect your receipts and do your

31:43travel claim and all this other BS.

31:44It's all just shit blowing up.

31:46You throw a grenade and it's a fireball the size of a 55 -gallon drum

31:49of gasoline. And then there's two days sitting in front of a computer typing out

31:53all of your administrative stuff because of all the bureaucratic restraints that are still involved

31:57in all of that. That doesn't seem smart.

32:01It's just the way the military system works.

32:03Now, is that to somehow or another mitigate potential actions that should not have been

32:11done because you have to be so documented?

32:14Everything has to be so laid out?

32:16I mean, there's a lot of...

32:17Even like the equipment that you wear, oftentimes...

32:20Well, almost all of it is going to be serialized.

32:22So you were issued that equipment.

32:23You're responsible for it. There's paperwork that goes for being issued that if you lose

32:27it, which does happen. And it's not going to be career -ending.

32:29Like if you went out for a week in a row and you're like, hey,

32:32I lost my night vision goggles again.

32:34I'm going to need another set of those.

32:34You might have a problem.

32:36But shit happens and people lose gear.

32:38But, you know, night vision, weapons, ordinance, ammunition, like a lot of that stuff is

32:42serialized. And so it's just the bureaucratic way that even at that level, you still

32:47have to keep track of all of that stuff.

32:49You would think they should hire somebody else to do that.

32:51They do. But oftentimes you are in small units, very isolated by yourself.

32:56And so you still have to maintain...

32:57Like even in the middle of nowhere, you're still going to have to maintain the

33:00paperwork aspect of all the stuff that you take with you.

33:03God, that's kind of crazy.

33:04Yeah. That seems like an unnecessary distraction to an already very insanely difficult job.

33:10I mean, I'm not saying we do the paperwork well.

33:14I mean, come on, Joe.

33:15There's a reason why the DOD has never passed an audit, but I mean...

33:18Ever. Ever. I know. The Pentagon, like how many years in a row has the

33:23Pentagon failed their audits? Like 700.

33:28It really is kind of bonkers.

33:30I believe the Marine Corps is the only branch of the military that has ever

33:32actually done a legitimate audit and passed.

33:35Really? Those guys are tightened up, man.

34:04No, the Pentagon has never passed, never passed a full, clean department -wide financial audit

34:12as of the latest audits.

34:14Defense Department is the only one of 24 major federal agencies that has never passed

34:19a full financial audit. Hell yeah.

34:23So it's only been going on since 2018.

34:25So no big deal, guys.

34:27It's only eight years. Yeah.

34:28That's only a few trillion dollars.

34:38So they go off a fiscal year from October 1st.

34:45Where we have... The Pentagon's own audit materials have pointed to a target of around

34:492028 financial year to achieve, to finally achieve a clean department -wide audit, contingent on

34:56fixing longstanding accounting and systems problems.

34:59Imagine if like the IRS calls you up and says, Andy, you didn't pass your

35:04audit. You go, I think I can get it in 2028.

35:06I'm on a lower trajectory towards this target you want to be at.

36:59So how many can you shoot before it separates the linings of your lungs?

37:10and there's a pallet of ammunition and they'll say, you're not leaving here until all

37:14these are shot. Oh my God.

37:22Or, you know, when I first went through his M60 ammo, they're like, yeah, but

37:27you guys, the training's not over until you guys shoot all this.

41:47Well, outside of it being compressed in the chamber of a gun, which, you know,

41:51if you think of like an AR platform rifle, when the round is in the

41:55magazine, it gets pushed forward by the bolt, and it's being held by all sides

41:59except for down the barrel.

42:01So all of the pressure is pointed in that direction, which is what propels the

42:04bullet down the barrel. If you remove that, it kind of just explodes in place.

42:07I'm not saying it's safe to like stand around and like have a beer while

42:42budget, you get in trouble because then they can't ask for the same amount of

42:46money next year. So I heard that every year when I was in.

42:49And September was a fantastic month to be in the military because that's when they,

42:52because the budget year is October 1 to October 1.

42:55So September, the bean counters really start taking a look at what they have left.

43:00And they'd say, I was a supply rep for a short period of time, meaning

43:03I was, I was a little cog in the wheel of supplying stuff to the

43:07guys. They're like, you need to spend a hundred thousand dollars in the next three

43:10hours on shoes. Which, let me tell you, REI is happy to take your money.

43:21If we don't spend it, we're going to lose it.

43:23But I never actually saw that tested.

43:59depends very you gotta have a wardrobe joe right being good at your job is

44:03second only to looking good while doing your job so we trust me i've sent

44:08people back to hell like your top and bottom aren't matching we're not doing this

44:11go change really yeah you have to look the part it's equal to your professionalism

44:17and tactical ability interesting yeah maybe perhaps i was a little bit picky on that

44:21but i don't i don't want to clash on the battlefield you need to look

44:24good it sounds like you can't have everybody looking awesome and then what like you

44:29look like shit go change your outfit out yeah you have orange boots on dude

44:32what are you doing yeah uh the boots you could i mean you take a

44:36pelican case or a box it you have a tool for every job so if

44:40you're going to go up in the mountains if you're going to go like northeastern

44:44afghanistan you're going to wear a different type of shoe for sure if you're in

44:47iraq in an urban environment you're going to wear probably the lightest weight um like

44:51the speed i forget who makes them but like the speed cross shoes uh and

44:56those things are i mean you might get two months out of those so you

44:58bring a couple pair you're going to bring some uh footwear that if you needed

45:02to go into the water like not swim around in the water but pass through

45:05water or those like solomons is that the solomon speed cross or yeah and the

45:09soles on those things they don't last very long but again when you get a

45:12hundred grand to buy shoes for three hours you can buy you know extras for

45:16people so you kind of have a it's just like all the rest of the

45:19gear you have cold weather gear you have desert gear and the coldest i've ever

45:23been is actually in the desert because of the super high high and then the

45:26super that swing right was way colder than like in mountainous terrain the moon yeah

45:31but i mean so you when you lay out your stuff like before every deployment

45:34you get ready to go on you're laying your stuff out you probably have two

45:36tables like this with all like desert woodland cold weather layering system shoes different uh

45:46load bearing equipment different back and then you just lay it all out put it

45:50into a bag and then you're doing the best you can then you're kind of

45:53just packing you know for what comes up in front of you and you're just

45:55ordering stuff from rei for real sometimes yeah wow so not everybody not not everywhere

46:01the conventional teams are very limited in their ability to do that at a jsoc

46:04level you have a little bit more room and flexibility to source from outside vendors

46:08so you would go for the best possible tool for the job 100 of the

46:12time yeah yeah instead of just get military issue correct yeah yeah i got the

46:19dumbest question for you about tell me more this is the dumbest question um have

46:25you heard of the story of the kandahar giant are we talking about an actual

47:18very remote area and this guy was shot and killed and medevaced out of there

47:24or you know helicoptered out of there and uh they're 12 foot giant tim uh

47:29alberino and he was was he telling the story as if he was there or

47:33he heard this there's never a guy who was there damn it there's apparently one

47:39guy who has his face covered up in one of these videos that i watched

47:42is like one of the blurry like you know like a witness to a mob

47:45scene yep and so that's how you know they're legit 100 thank you i think

47:50the same way that's why i sent it to all my friends um but he

47:54was telling the story from people that he talked to that were there see and

47:58here's the thing i want stories like that to be true to i still am

53:29Wow. It is a tradition in Tibet with at least certain people to get rid

53:34of their bodies that way.

53:35And the idea is that, look, the person's dead.

53:38This is a more natural way, you know, and they'll cycle back into the ecosystem

53:43the way it's supposed to be with all animals.

53:45We're the only animal that opts out of, like, rejoining with all biological life.

53:53Because it's supposed to be a biological body deteriorates underground that feeds the soil, that

54:01feeds, you know, whatever animals feast on its bones, and then it becomes all part

54:06of this big, beautiful cycle.

54:08And we're like, eh, we've got some chemicals laying around we'd like to fill the

54:12veins up with to make them completely poison so that they never deteriorate or they

54:17just slowly turn into gelatinous sludge.

54:20By state, it looks like.

54:27now? Burial is regulated by state by state, city, county zoning.

54:32There's no federal rule that specifies body position, horizontal versus vertical.

54:38What are the laws in terms of embalming?

54:43Green or natural burial, simple shroud, no vault, minimal disturbance is legal in all 50

54:48states, but only in locations that comply with state and local rules, green or natural

54:55burial. Distance from water sources would be a big reason for that.

55:35down a well. Not all bonding experiences are created equal.

56:33body kept refrigerated, embalming is generally unnecessary and not legally required in most states.

56:40But the thing is, most of the time it's done, according to my friend Joey,

56:47whose friend, at least it was in the past, whose friend ran a funeral home.

56:51The guy was telling him what a fucking scam it all is.

56:54You're just charging people for all this stuff.

56:56Probably just like anything else.

56:58Here it is. Many funeral homes require embalming for presentation and public health reasons.

57:03If you want a public viewing or an open casket before cremation.

57:09Oh, who does that? Some jurisdictions or airlines may require embalming for long distance or

57:17international transport. Or if there's a long delay before cremation.

57:21Well, that makes sense. Because if you don't embalm it, you're going to stink up

57:25the whole fucking plane. U .S.

57:26law, I mean, I'm sure you've smelled dead bodies before.

57:29But the first time I ever smelled a dead body, I was a little kid.

57:32And someone died in our apartment building.

57:34It was crazy. You'd walk down the hallway and the fucking smell.

57:41It was me and my cousins and my sister.

57:43We were walking down the hall.

57:44We were like, what is that?

57:46We were probably like six.

57:48It was this insane smell.

57:50And it turned out this lady who was just living by herself died.

57:53And so she was just rotting in this apartment building.

57:56You think you still recognize it to this day?

57:59It's very unique. Is it?

1:00:45FTC says embalming may be necessary if you choose certain arrangements like a public viewing.

1:00:50But the necessity is based on the funeral home standards, not a blanket legal mandate.

1:00:58So the funeral home will tell you, oh, we have to embalm them first.

1:01:01And you're in a pretty susceptible and malleable mind space.

1:01:06And they're just really used to it.

1:01:09They must get so accustomed to just – they don't give a fuck.

1:01:57I'm going to be with Jesus.

1:01:59And hey, hey, what? And he would be like rocking back and forth on his

1:02:02stomach. What is this? It feels like some guy's got his dick in my ass.

1:02:10It never ends. It never ends.

1:02:18I'm glad there's somebody out there who can weave a – story like that together

1:02:21and have a meaningful message at the end of it.

1:02:24But there are there have been cases of people getting like hot girls that are

1:02:29freshly dead and fucking them getting caught.

1:02:32Yeah, because humans are horrible.

1:02:33The vast I try to tell myself that the vast majority of humans are trying

1:02:39to do the best that they can.

1:02:40But I never forget that there are people out there who are like that.

1:02:43Sure. Yeah, there's people out there that are gross.

1:02:46They're just evil. I was reading about this guy who is an oncologist who got

1:02:50arrested because he was giving people chemotherapy that didn't really have cancer because chemotherapy is

1:02:55uniquely profitable for doctors. Yeah, it's very profitable.

1:03:00So he was telling people that they had cancer and they did not.

1:03:04And he was giving them chemotherapy, which I have a friend who died recently.

1:03:09And he went through the first round of chemotherapy, went into remission.

1:03:14And the chemotherapy was so bad that when the cancer came back, he decided to

1:03:18just die. That's how my mom died.

1:03:20She had survived cervical cancer.

1:03:23It metastasized into her lungs 10 years later, got on the chemo, which I don't

1:03:29know what is in that stuff, but they, you know, the platinum treatment, whatever it

1:03:33may be, and had the realization that she was either going to die from cancer

1:03:38or she was going to die from the chemotherapy.

1:03:39And she chose hospice just because the ride on the chemotherapy was so horrible that

1:03:45she couldn't take it anymore.

1:03:46My friend said that the pain of brushing his teeth was so intense, like the

1:03:53sores in his mouth from the chemo.

1:03:56And then once cancer went into remission and then it came back.

1:04:00And by the way, this cancer came very quickly after vaccination.

1:04:03It was one of those where, you know, you can get into that all day

1:04:08long. If you want to really get into a deep conspiracy theory, that's got some

1:04:11real facts to it, but there's something called SV40 and they found SV40 in some

1:04:16of the mRNA vaccines. SV40 is simian virus 40.

1:04:21And it's a virus that was contracted that people got because they used kidney cells

1:04:29from monkeys in order to cultivate these vaccines.

1:04:36This is like known about for a long time.

1:04:38And, um, in certain batches, they've tested positive for SV40, which is like some just

1:04:43legacy material that they have that they make vaccines out of.

1:04:49And, uh, he was one of the lucky ones.

1:04:53It sucks, man. There's a young dude, you know, he's in his forties, early forties,

1:04:58fit, young guy, cancer came on like a fucking tidal wave.

1:05:02Just a freight train. He mowed him down.

1:05:04How much time did he have between diagnosis and death?

1:05:07Well, I got him connected with, uh, Gary Brecka and Gary Brecka helped him quite

1:05:12a bit. And that's how he, uh, originally got through it and it got over

1:05:18it. He was okay again and, you know, went into remission.

1:05:22He said, he's feeling pretty good.

1:05:23And then man, wasn't more than a year and a half, two years later, it

1:05:27came back with a vengeance.

1:05:30And, um, he was dead just, you know, six, six months later.

1:05:36Does it change how you view life, your own life when that happens close to

1:05:40you? It's just shocking that healthy fit people get something like that.

1:05:46So, and it happens so quickly, you know, this is, uh, you know, like I

1:05:50said, uh, my suspicions is it's connected to the vaccine and, uh, don't, I don't

1:05:56think that everybody who got that mRNA vaccine is going to die of cancer.

1:05:59That's, I, I think it's a contamination issue that some of the batches had it

1:06:05and some of the batches didn't.

1:06:07But, and then some people react very differently to whatever, whatever's in it, but with

1:06:12him, man, it got him and it's not uncommon.

1:06:16There's, there's a shitload of ignored cases of what they're calling turbo cancer that people

1:06:22have gotten after the mRNA vaccine.

1:06:24Like it's, it's barely a conspiracy theory.

1:06:27It's more likely an ignored, inconvenient fact that these pharmaceutical drug companies are trying to

1:06:35ignore. Do you think they were trying, going upstream from that, the pharmaceutical companies or

1:06:41people that were pushing to try to find what perhaps they thought would be the

1:06:44fix to the solution? Do you think that they were doing the best that they

1:06:48could and just their enthusiasm outstripped their capabilities or they pushed stuff a little bit

1:06:53too early? Or was it as deep of as a conspiracy that people think and

1:06:57that behind the scenes, they're trying to reduce overall global population?

1:07:00I don't go that way.

1:07:01I don't go to the reduce overall global population, but I do understand why people

1:07:05would think that because there are, there have been a bunch of people that are

1:07:08supposedly philanthropists, Bill Gates, that have talked about reducing overall population being a goal and

1:07:16that goal could be like Bill Gates is actually quoted saying that that goal could

1:07:20be achieved through vaccines. Like, like what the fuck does that mean?

1:07:23Reducing global population through vaccines?

1:07:27How? Well, one way is the, what is it?

1:07:32DDP or DTP vaccine? Diphtheria something and percussive.

1:07:39Um, so they were caught in Africa.

1:07:42One of the vaccines that they were using on women in Africa, uh, turned out

1:07:49it's tetanus, right? Diphtheria, tetanus and percussive had HCG in it, which is, uh, an

1:07:59endocrine disruptor. I don't know what's the exact specific description of it, but it, but

1:08:04what it was essentially doing was rendering these women infertile.

1:08:08And so they were supposedly, um, vaccinating them for tetanus and these other diseases.

1:08:14But really what it was doing was they were making these women infertile and they

1:08:19were experimenting on them and they were doing this in Africa.

1:08:23You know, they, they like to experiment in places where not a lot of people

1:08:27are watching and there's not a lot of infrastructure and not a lot of internet

1:08:32connection and they can, you know.

1:08:34Get away with trying stuff on people.

1:08:37So this concept of reducing population through vaccination, there's some real world examples of people

1:08:45doing that. But, you know, why?

1:08:47I don't know. I don't think that.

1:08:49I think if you find out about how much money was generated during the vaccine

1:08:53pandemic, during the COVID pandemic, that is the most likely scenario.

1:08:58They were just trying to make an enormous amount of money.

1:09:00Do you remember that you and I did the first podcast after the lockdown in

1:09:05L .A.? Yeah. And then I drove with my wife down to San Diego, and

1:09:11I don't think she had been, because we got to San Diego in about 17

1:09:14minutes. There's no one on the road!

1:09:17And I remember saying to her, if we come back, which we will, don't expect

1:09:22this. It was like a ghost town.

1:09:24But we were in L .A.

1:09:26the day that it locked down.

1:09:27I remember texting you like, um, are we good?

1:09:30You're like, yeah, YouTube says we're essential.

1:09:32Let's roll. We're essential! That was what was crazy.

1:09:37There was essential businesses that were allowed to stay open.

1:09:39Restaurants weren't one of them, fucking insanely enough.

1:09:42But fast food places were.

1:09:44So there were certain places that were as essential, and media was essential, so we

1:09:48were allowed to. Although we did get ratted out.

1:09:50The health department came to our L .A.

1:09:53studio, and they made us put a bag of masks on the wall when you

1:09:58go in. And also a note that shows, like, all the precautions that you have

1:10:02to take place, like, stand six feet apart.

1:10:04And then people were also complaining that this table's not six feet wide, and so

1:10:08we weren't observing the proper social distancing.

1:10:11So I said, okay, well, why don't we just do this, and you do that,

1:10:15and we'll do a podcast like this.

1:10:16Oh, yeah, we're six feet.

1:10:17Now we're six feet. Now we're good.

1:10:20And then it turns out that that was all made up.

1:10:23It was all horseshit. You know, it's the Who song.

1:10:26We won't get fooled again.

1:10:28I want to believe that they were trying to do the best that they can.

1:10:31I don't believe that. I said I want to believe.

1:10:33Yeah, I don't even want to believe that.

1:10:34But then what do we do about it?

1:10:36We never listen again. What if they're right the next time?

1:10:40I don't think they will be.

1:10:42I don't think they're ever right with that kind of stuff, especially something that's not

1:10:46killing everybody, as they said it was.

1:10:48They were just gaslighting us all over television.

1:10:50The people were dropping like flies.

1:10:52And especially egregiously disgusting is gaslighting us about children dying from it.

1:10:59Yeah. And there's a lot of really fucking shitty human beings that were posting about

1:11:04this on Twitter, and I don't know if they're being paid to do it or

1:11:09if they're just ideologically captured.

1:11:12But there was a lot of people on Twitter talking about children dying from COVID.

1:11:16It's a fucking dirty lie.

1:11:18There was a very small amount of kids that died during the pandemic, and those

1:11:24kids, all of them, had something wrong with them already.

1:11:28All of them had comorbidities, which is like also a giant percentage of all the

1:11:34people that died, period. It's like what is the number?

1:11:37It's like 75 % of them, something like that, had four plus comorbidities.

1:11:42Four comorbidities is crazy. Yeah.

1:11:44It's like you're already fucked.

1:11:45That means four things that are already killing you, you know?

1:11:49Yeah. Do you think we learned anything during that time period?

1:11:52Yeah. I think we learned that the pharmaceutical drug company has a lock on the

1:11:58media that is very disturbing.

1:12:00Like the media did not report at all vaccine injuries.

1:12:04They didn't report on it at all.

1:12:06It was never discussed. People were dropping dead.

1:12:08They were ignoring it and gaslighting.

1:12:10And then we also found out the amount of money that these pharmaceutical drug companies

1:12:16pay to these corporations, whether it's Fox or NBC or CBS or whoever it is,

1:12:22in advertising. It's a huge part of their budget is advertising money.

1:12:27And the way Callie Means explained it to me, he goes, it's not so that

1:12:32people find out about the drugs.

1:12:34It's so that these news stations don't criticize the pharmaceutical drug companies.

1:12:40Well, if they control the ad inventory and then the checkbook behind that.

1:12:44Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. Do you ever do pharmaceutical type reads for your show?

1:12:50No. No, I say no to them.

1:12:51I only say yes to dick pills.

1:12:53Dick pills I'll say yes to.

1:13:19Then you get the money people.

1:13:21And the money people are the ones that fuck everything up.

1:13:25We could charge $1 ,000 a pill for this stuff.

1:13:28You know, there's certain medications that literally cost $1 ,000 a pill.

1:13:33You know, and they just try to make the most amount of money possible and

1:13:37prescribe it to the most amount of people possible.

1:13:39And then you get monsters like this cancer doctor that I was telling you that

1:13:43was giving chemotherapy to people that don't fucking have cancer.

1:13:47So how do we break that system, though?

1:13:49Hammers. Take that guy in a room.

1:22:21is a constitutional carry state what's constitutional carry here as well but still concealed carry

1:22:26you get reciprocity so if you have concealed carry you get reciprocity in florida nevada

1:22:32so if you get a concealed carry license in texas you can go to places

1:22:35where you know they're only maybe they don't even have concealed they don't have constitutional

1:22:39carry but they recognize texas concealed carry because of the additional yeah training per se

1:22:45yes exactly but the point is like you have to show that you know how

1:22:48to use it you can go buy a corvette and you don't have to show

1:22:53anything which is crazy well you have to show a likelihood that you're able to

1:26:36in the state in the state so like i interact with the people i want

1:26:39to i was not prepared to have a cheese stick and turn around and see

1:26:42the dude from lethal weapons standing there like hi i gotta get out of here

1:28:11So I try to reset every time I see a new person and I try

1:28:15to treat them as if it's like this is a complete for them.

1:28:19It's a unique experience. They get to meet and never believe that I am unique.

1:28:26You know, don't believe the hype and don't think you are special, but always appreciate

1:28:31the fact that someone else does.

1:28:32And so take the time to say hi.

1:28:35And I can't. The UFCs are hard because I can't like sometimes I'm going through

1:28:40the crowd and I have to like sometimes I leave my commentary seat and then

1:28:44I have to take a piss.

1:28:45And then I have to run back.

1:28:47And then everybody's trying to get a picture while you're, you know, like you're literally

1:28:50going through a crowd of people in between.

1:28:52Yeah. And so I got my high five people, but they're like, I can't, I

1:28:58can't, I can't, I can't stop because if I stop, then they'll all swarm.

1:29:02And I guess I can't do that.

1:29:03I have to keep moving.

1:29:04So that bothers me that I have to say I can't stop.

1:32:14in the woods, it doesn't work at all.

1:32:15Yeah. Yeah. That is, uh, God, I hate hunting sometimes like last year.

1:32:40Oh, that's the worst feeling when you know you could have done it so much

1:32:44better if you just had taken a little bit more time.

1:33:36I was training with a 15 -year -old young man at the end of a

1:33:41day of training with some savage black belts.

1:33:45Totally, and, you know, how when you say when you first start, like, hey, you

1:33:48need to relax. Well, I also found that you can relax too much.

1:33:51I was laying on my side, letting him work on an arm bar.

1:33:53Got a hold of my arm.

1:33:54I was going to work on an escape.

1:33:55And as my arm was coming up over my head, I heard my shoulder cavitate.

1:34:00It was like a, and, of course, on my drawing arm for my bow.

1:34:04And we were a couple months away from hunting season.

1:34:07Felt it go, partial tear of the pack, completely black and blue.

1:37:20I was getting back into it, but I still struggle with this one knee.

1:37:23I have one knee that keeps fucking up on me, man.

1:37:25For you, it would be very hard to find the appropriate training partner.

1:37:29Yes. Like you're never going to a group class again and getting in there at

1:37:38I didn't just like only train with like one guy that like stuck with all

1:37:44the time. I always went to classes.

1:37:48I don't think there's a real way to train with one person that's like, taking

1:37:55it easy on you and really achieve a high level.

1:37:58I think you have to go in there with people that are going to tap

1:38:01you, and you have to go in there with people that are trying to tap

1:38:03you, you know? And, you know, if you're good and if you're strong, you can

1:38:08avoid a lot of shit.

1:38:10But, you know, you get in there with some fucking 25 -year -old wrestler who

1:38:14weighs 210 pounds and is built like a superhero.

1:38:18It's rough. Who moves at a speed that your joints and ligaments can't move at?

1:38:21Yeah. It's just like, I can't keep up.

1:38:23You're on my back. I can't keep up with this.

1:38:26And if I do keep up, I'm going to blow something out.

1:38:28Since I founded it 41, I don't think we should teach it to anybody under

1:38:3330. Because it deeply offends me when children come out of the children's class and

1:38:37they've been training like six times longer than I am.

1:38:40I'm like, what? Like their movement patterns were developed on the mat.

1:38:44I'm like, we're using the same alphabet, but we are not putting together the same

1:38:48words. Well, I knew that from striking because I knew that from kicking.

1:38:52I was like, I started martial arts before my body had matured.

1:38:55And my body matured, becoming very flexible and very fast.

1:39:00And so as I got thicker, I maintained that speed and everything.

1:39:04But I was like, I don't know if you could ever get as good as

1:39:07I got if you didn't start when I started.

1:39:09I don't know if it's possible.

1:39:10And I didn't start jiu -jitsu until I was 30.

1:39:12And when I started doing jiu -jitsu, I remember thinking, God, I wish I did

1:39:16this when I was a kid.

1:39:17Yep. Because I see some kids where their fucking scrambles and their transition is like

1:39:22built into their neurons where they're just like everything is so fast and so kinetic

1:39:28and they're just moving and flowing like, fuck!

1:39:31I could have started in like 97.

1:39:34But the few people who were doing it were so enthusiastic, it just nauseated me.

1:39:40Like, it's like veganism. Yeah.

1:39:42Like they make you want to eat meat.

1:39:44Come roll with us. I'm like, I don't know what you guys are doing.

1:39:46It's... Very questionably gay at best from the outside.

1:40:33Because there was always this thing when I was a martial artist when I was

1:40:36young. Like, what's better? Judo?

1:40:39Karate? And no one knew.

1:40:40And then there was like the Jean -Claude Van Damme, Kumite movies where you meet

1:40:44and all the styles come together and you find out what's best.

1:40:47But when I first saw UFC 2, I was like, oh my God, they did

1:40:51it. And then I was like, oh my God, I don't know that.

1:40:55This one guy is killing everybody.

1:40:56There's a lot of people that were saying that in those single digit ones.

1:40:59Oh my God. So then what number UFC did you first commentate at?

1:41:03UFC 12. Damn, dude. That's a pretty quick.

1:41:06Well, they probably were doing less frequently as well.

1:41:08But that's a pretty quick flash to bang.

1:41:09Yeah. Seeing it on a VHS.

1:41:11That was 97. So by 97, I guess I was 30.

1:41:18Yeah. I guess I was 30, somewhere around there.

1:41:21So that was the first UFC.

1:41:23And I was already training at that time.

1:41:25I was training at Carlson Gracie's with Vitor Belfort.

1:41:29Vitor Belfort was there. Marillo Bustamante was there.

1:41:32It was amazing. Just stumbled upon that place.

1:41:36I actually went to Hickson's first, but I was so ignorant.

1:41:40I thought Carlson Gracie, Hickson Gracie.

1:41:42I thought it was the same.

1:41:43And Hickson was further away.

1:41:46And Carlson's was closer. I was like, oh, I found a closer Gracie Jiu -Jitsu.

1:41:50I'll go here. And then it was also at the time where Extreme Fighting was

1:41:55out, which was John Peretti, who was one of the commentators for the early UFC,

1:42:00was now doing this. And it was really good.

1:42:02Like Mario Sperry was fighting, Igor Zinoviev.

1:42:05And these guys, a lot of these guys were from Carlson Gracie's.

1:42:08So I saw the Carlson Gracie, the two Bulldog logos, which is fucking dope.

1:42:13And then I found out that it was on Hawthorne Street in L .A., which

1:42:16is like really close to the comedy store.

1:42:18I was like, oh, this is perfect because I was living in North Hollywood.

1:42:21I would just drive there.

1:42:22It was much closer. Yeah, efficiency, yeah.

1:42:24It was much closer. But I just got there at literally the perfect time because

1:42:28it was right before Vitor was making his UFC debut, which was UFC 12, which

1:42:33I commentated at. So I was literally training at the same school as Vitor, so

1:42:37I knew what to expect.

1:42:38I'm like, these guys don't know what the fuck this guy is doing.

1:42:42Because everybody thought he was just a jiu -jitsu guy.

1:42:44And meanwhile, he had lightning hands.

1:42:47And, you know, it was a slimmer Vitor.

1:42:49He was only like 200 pounds back then.

1:42:52He just moved like a fucking panther.

1:42:54And I got to see this sport just sort of emerging where really it was

1:43:00becoming something completely different. Like at first it was just a bunch of people that

1:43:03didn't know anything. And, you know, there was – or they didn't know anything about

1:43:07mixed martial arts. They either know judo or they know karate.

1:43:09And then there was hoist.

1:43:11And hoist is just tapping everybody.

1:43:12And everybody's like, oh, my God, jiu -jitsu is the way.

1:43:15And then when I went to Carlson's, I was like, jiu -jitsu is kind of

1:43:18the way. But look at this guy.

1:43:20Like you got to take that guy to the ground.

1:43:22And that guy's hands are like a fucking professional boxer.

1:43:25This is crazy. Yeah. Jiu -jitsu is awesome.

1:43:29It's not complete. No. You can have a nice black belt and end up in

1:43:33an ambulance if you can't get through a striking range.

1:43:35Well, not only that. There's a lot of guys that were really reliant upon the

1:43:38gi back then, unfortunately. Because this is all you got to realize.

1:43:42This is all before Abu Dhabi, right?

1:43:44So this is before Abu Dhabi Combat Club came out, which was an amazing organization

1:43:49that paid real money to grapplers to compete but made them compete without a gi.

1:43:54Which was like for a lot of guys, they didn't know what to do.

1:43:58They're so used to grabbing sleeves and grabbing collars and grabbing pants.

1:44:03And the one guy who had figured it out was my eventual instructor, Jean -Jacques

1:44:08Machado, because Jean -Jacques was born with essentially one hand.

1:44:12His left hand is just a thumb.

1:44:15He just has a thumb.

1:44:16He had a birth defect.

1:44:17And because of that, his game was all overhooks and underhooks and gable grips, which

1:44:23was he wasn't relying on collars and all this other stuff.

1:44:26So his game was very different.

1:44:28He just dominated in Abu Dhabi.

1:44:30And that opened up the door to Eddie Bravo.

1:44:32So Eddie Bravo, he learned a lot of his techniques from Jean -Jacques as well.

1:44:36And a lot of his style was based around Jean -Jacques' principles, which is don't

1:44:41rely on the gi because you don't always have the gi.

1:44:44It's a good tool to use if you have it.

1:44:46If you're fighting a guy who's got a winter coat on, it's awesome.

1:44:48Like the last thing you want to do is fight a judo guy if you're

1:44:51wearing a winter coat. So not optimal for how your head's going to feel when

1:44:55it hits the concrete? And you ain't going to be able to do shit to

1:45:00stop that. I asked you early on.

1:45:02I think we had linked up when I was – it was actually – it

1:45:04was right at the beginning of COVID.

1:45:05I was a white belt.

1:45:06And I asked you how you train and manage grip stuff.

1:45:09And you gave me a piece of advice that I still utilize, and you said

1:45:13whether you have a gi on or don't have a gi on, just focus on

1:45:16taking no -gi grips. I was like, son of a bitch.

1:45:19Yeah. That's what I always did.

1:45:20Yeah. The only gi technique that I really love is the clock choke.

1:45:24You know, when you get a deep grip on the collar and you funnel that

1:45:30left arm underneath and spin, oh, my God, that's instant death.

1:45:35That clock choke is so nasty.

1:45:36I prefer the cross collar.

1:45:37That's great, too. It's available for more areas.

1:45:40Oh, for sure. Just pop that head right off.

1:45:42Just cross collar is nasty.

1:45:44There's a lot of great, great gi techniques that are super effective if someone's wearing

1:45:50clothes. I mean, you'd be amazed at how durable T -shirts are.

1:45:56You know, you could really choke the fuck out of someone with a T -shirt

1:45:59on. Henner has a video where he'll get.

1:46:01first hand in he's got him in closed guard he reaches over and he grabs

1:46:05the bottom of the shirt pulls it all the way up and then wraps that

1:46:09around oh yeah it's got to feel like a garrote yeah just horrible yeah horrible

1:46:14and especially if they're wearing like a strong shirt like a flannel shirt or something

1:46:19like that something you really grab yeah yeah but but that was john jock's style

1:46:25his style was use no gi grips even with the gi so for me it

1:46:30made me concentrate more on defense because you couldn't pull out of things as easily

1:46:35yeah but i never felt lost going into no gi so i would go back

1:46:39and forth all the time so you know i got my black belt from eddie

1:46:42first but i got my black belt from jean jacques right after that because i

1:46:45was training at both places that was also a beautiful thing about eddie being jean

1:46:50jacques student and them having a very close relationship it never felt like you were

1:46:54a trader that you left schools because i never really left schools i trained at

1:46:58both places i always trained at john jock's and i always trained at eddie's you

1:47:03weren't a crionche yeah is that what they call it yeah i think so yeah

1:47:06so it was it was that was very nice that they had that amazing relationship

1:47:10where there was no static at all it was like i would go to see

1:47:14jean jacques i'd go train there a couple days a week i trained at eddie's

1:47:17a couple days a week it was awesome yeah if i had a time machine

1:47:20and if my younger self would listen to me which i don't think i would

1:47:22i would say two things one buy bitcoin obviously and two maybe get into jean

1:47:28jacques a little bit earlier yeah but i think you what you did was pretty

1:47:32impressive because you you got through it very quickly like i remember you first started

1:47:37training and you know you got a black belt in like what four years five

1:47:41years five and a half that's amazing that's quick well i think it depends on

1:47:46how you view the time so i think the standard 10 year uh window is

1:47:51usually somebody trains about an hour a day or two hours a day twice a

1:47:54week i had the ability where i was living i could train 10 times a

1:47:59week for as long as i want to right so the math still maths at

1:48:02the end of the day right but that's still very hard on the body at

1:48:0540 years old it's very hard on the body vitamin i also known as ibuprofen

1:48:10comes into the training model that shit's terrible for you yeah but it makes you

1:48:13feel better it's so bad for you though also bad for your gut i will

1:48:17say this one thing about my previous job is it teaches you how to learn

1:48:21it rewards it rewards your ability to be coachable be coachable and people ask me

1:48:27you know how do you how are you how can you be a good student

1:48:30just in general i'm like listen how about this do what your instructor says and

1:48:34nothing more right if they say put your hand here and you ask them do

1:48:38you mean always put it there and they say yes just put your hand there

1:48:40yeah if you want to and you know people there's the internet's an amazing thing

1:48:44right and there's a bunch of ability to go out and look for techniques and

1:48:46stuff but i can't think of anything more disrespectful to a coach to be told

1:48:50something and then you are offering them something that you saw on instagram while they're

1:48:54trying to teach you like that's how that relationship is going to end up breaking

1:48:57if you really want to accelerate your learning focus and honor your coach actually focus

1:49:02on what they are trying to tell you to do do only that and no

1:49:05more until you have that mastered and then you can move on top of that

1:49:08absolutely that's great advice yeah you have to just listen you have to listen and

1:49:13never question and then if you unless you have a bad coach then just get

1:49:18a good coach that's the solution to that which in this era you have choices

1:49:22the era that you were starting in there weren't as many choices right yeah well

1:49:26i realized that when i went to john jock's place that there's levels in teaching

1:49:30and you know obviously hickson's school was very high level and carlson's was too but

1:49:35carlson's went under pretty quickly they weren't around that long but then when i went

1:49:40to john jock's i was like okay this is a completely different level like john

1:49:44jock is so detail oriented i was also very lucky that i started doing taekwondo

1:49:49when i was a child so that i always listened yeah you know and the

1:49:55the the traditional martial arts environment there's no room for questioning they don't allow any

1:50:01question and i was also very lucky that the school that i started at was

1:50:04one of the best schools in the world i just got lucky i found this

1:50:08this jay taekwondo jaeon kim taekwondo institute in boston just happened to have multiple national

1:50:14champions like really elite competitors and so i never questioned i always did and i

1:50:21i never did anything half -assed i always did it exactly that's how you develop

1:50:25the right technique yeah you have to well it's how you accelerate learning too i

1:50:30mean because again people ask me about my old job like well how do you

1:50:34how do you guys do all this stuff that you do well you learn it

1:50:36a piece at a time and honestly it's the mastery of fundamentals even at that

1:50:40it i i think what i determined the most when my coach gave me my

1:50:44black belt was that i don't know a goddamn thing about jujitsu and i can't

1:50:49keep up with all the flashy sporty stuff but the better fundamentals get the better

1:50:53you can tolerate a lot of that stuff it's just the the mastery of the

1:50:56fundamentals is just so essential well some of the elite guys of all time never

1:51:01did any of the flashy stuff like hickson hickson was just the fundamentals honed to

1:51:06a razor sharp edge yeah you don't see hickson doing some stuff you're like oh

1:51:11i've never seen that before it's all triangles arm bars renegade choke and just done

1:51:16to perfection yeah done in a way that black belts can't stop it no i've

1:51:21heard stories of him lining black belts up telling them what he is going to

1:51:25catch them with yep and then having like 10 of them watch him catch everybody

1:51:30before them with the same thing and them having absolutely no ability to stop it

1:51:34yep that's what i'm talking about yeah well that's gordon ryan too gordon ryan one

1:51:39of the things that gordon did i was there when he did it one of

1:51:42the times he did it he did it multiple times he would write down on

1:51:45a piece of paper how he was going to submit his opponent and sealed in

1:51:49an envelope and before the match started he would walk over to the commentators and

1:51:53say open this when it's over and then you know you would see him catch

1:51:57somebody in a triangle and then he would open up the envelope and showed a

1:52:00triangle and he had multiple opportunities to catch someone in different things he's like no

1:52:05no no see i could do that too but it would be what i'm going

1:52:08to get caught with here's the most likely thing that i'm going to mess up

1:52:11and get caught with well that's the thing about starting when you're 40 Versus starting

1:52:16when you're 12 or whatever it is.

1:52:18It's like you're only going to be able to get to a certain height, you

1:52:23know? Well, also, I recognize that I'm an aggressive hobbyist.

1:52:26I have competed twice only because my wife was coaching at tournaments.

1:52:30I was like, well, I'll go spend time with you.

1:52:32So here we are. I think once when I was a white belt and once

1:52:35when I was a purple belt, like that's it.

1:52:36I don't care about the competition.

1:52:39Shockingly enough, I'm not looking to have a violent confrontation with anyone ever.

1:52:43Totally have filled my cup up with that one.

1:52:47Probably has spilled over a little bit from time to time.

1:52:49Like I just do it because I really like the community.

1:52:51I like the fact you can't master it.

1:52:53So you can keep your brain young with your body young or young as young

1:52:56as possible. And, yeah, it's just fun.

1:53:00It's really fun. It's so addictive, which is to me was the problem with injuries

1:53:04was that I would always find I'd go, I'll work around it.

1:53:08And I'd just go in with injuries and then they get aggravated to the point

1:53:12where, you know, I remember one time my fingers were getting numb because my neck

1:53:17was so fucked up that my fingers were numb.

1:53:19And then I'm like, okay, I've got to do something.

1:53:21Was this from you head and arm choking people?

1:53:24It was a lot of that.

1:53:25Yep. I remember you telling me your affinity.

1:53:26You're like, you've really got to just drive your head.

1:53:28You've got to use your neck.

1:53:29And also not tapping. Not tapping to certain neck cranks and different things that fuck

1:53:35your neck up. Neck cranks are very real.

1:53:38Yeah. I also didn't work my neck enough back then.

1:53:41I didn't have an iron neck at that machine.

1:53:43Do you still use that thing?

1:53:44Oh, yeah. I fucking love that thing.

1:53:46Is it forward and back and turn or all those things?

1:53:49So it's a halo. You sit it on your chest and you pump it up

1:53:51like the Reebok pump. And then the chin strap, you tighten that bitch down.

1:53:56And you can adjust the tension that's required to spin it.

1:53:59And it has this giant bungee cord on it.

1:54:01And so the bungee cord is like 50 pounds of resistance.

1:54:04So you back up with the bungee cord until it's like fully taut.

1:54:07And then you go like this.

1:54:12I swear by that thing.

1:54:13All right. It keeps your neck strong as fuck.

1:54:15And I don't have any neck problems anymore.

1:54:17And I had a lot of fucking neck problems.

1:54:20So the thing that saved me, though, was Regenikine, which is like this PRP, platelet

1:54:25-rich plasma to the next level.

1:54:27This treatment that a lot of guys were having to go to Germany to get

1:54:31in the early days. They would go.

1:54:34I remember Kobe Bryant went to Germany.

1:54:36I think Peyton Manning went.

1:54:38A bunch of guys had to go to Germany to get this treatment.

1:54:41And it's like they take your blood and through some process, I forget exactly how

1:54:47they do it, it makes this fluid that is like this radically inflammation -fighting fluid.

1:54:55And they injected it into my neck and it cured my bulging discs.

1:54:59And all my numbness went away and I got to start training again once I

1:55:03got back. But, again, I didn't have a fucking iron neck back then.

1:55:05If I had that machine back then, I think I could have avoided a lot

1:55:09of the problems. Like a lot of the problems that people have with lower backs,

1:55:13I firmly believe it's a lack of building tissue and strength and mobility around your

1:55:20lower back. And I do a lot of lower back exercises, too.

1:55:24I do a lot of rotation exercises and a lot of, like, reverse hypers, like

1:55:29that machine. That machine's awesome.

1:55:31Oh, I did that today.

1:55:33That fucking keeps your back so strong and healthy and it decompresses at the same

1:55:38time that it strengthens. And, you know, so many guys just go into the class.

1:55:42That's their workout. Their only workout is training.

1:55:44And those guys are always hurt.

1:55:46They're always getting hurt. I think strength training and mobility training is essential if you

1:55:51want to have longevity in jiu -jitsu.

1:55:53I really think that. I would agree.

1:55:55Yeah. Yeah, for the first couple years it was a workout in and of itself

1:55:58and I finally have started.

1:56:00I think I'm done with barbells just because I've never seen a linear object equally

1:56:04loaded in real life outside of a gym.

1:56:06So there's some things with barbells, though, like Olympic style stuff, like cleans.

1:56:12I can get all those kettlebells, though, too.

1:56:14You can. Zurchers, though. Zurchers are only available with a barbell.

1:56:18Yeah. And I think Zurchers are very, very important.

1:56:21I think that's a big one.

1:56:24I'm willing to accept. Jefferson squats.

1:56:27There's a bunch of different things.

1:56:29But Zurchers in particular are really good for grappling.

1:56:32Yeah. You know, because you've got that barbell that you're holding inside the crook of

1:56:36your elbow. Couldn't you use a sandbag?

1:56:38You could. Yeah. You definitely could.

1:56:40Yeah. I love goblet squats.

1:56:44Yeah. Goblet squats are phenomenal for that.

1:56:45Yeah, they'll tear you up for sure.

1:56:46Especially on a slant board.

1:56:48You know, when you're holding like a 90 -pound kettlebell and you're doing those deep

1:56:52squats where it's knees over toes on a slant board.

1:56:54And your whole core is just so activated when you're hurt.

1:56:59I mean, that's phenomenal for just strength and stability.

1:57:04But I agree. I think kettlebells are the best.

1:57:07I think it's the best also because there's so many different things you can do

1:57:11with them in terms of there's rotational exercises I do where I pick it down

1:57:16on this side and I swing and clean it and I press it on that

1:57:19side. Let it swing down.

1:57:20And I do those things where you lie on your back with your butt, with

1:57:27your legs up in the air and you do those twists where you take the

1:57:30kettlebell and put it at each side.

1:57:31You can absolutely demolish yourself with a single kettlebell.

1:57:34Yeah. Which is kind of awesome.

1:57:36Especially like where I live too, traveling with a truck.

1:57:38Like, okay. Yep. Put one of these bad boys in there.

1:57:41100%. All the excuses are gone.

1:57:42I had a bowling bag that I would carry a 50 -pound kettlebell with me

1:57:45on the road. I just put it in a bowling bag because it fits in

1:57:48a bowling ball bag. Like, all right, people are going to look at you a

1:57:51little awkwardly, but I'm here for it.

1:57:52But if you have a 50 -pound weight limit, if you check in luggage, like,

1:58:00there you go. Whatever works for you.

1:58:02Yeah. I appreciate the enthusiasm for working out on the road.

1:58:06Well, back then, the thing was you would never find them in a gym.

1:58:09And now they're in most gyms.

1:58:11It's tough not to find them now in a gym, yeah.

1:58:12Hotel gyms is like, why do you have a 1 .5 -kilo kettlebell?

1:58:17Like, is this for children?

1:58:18Like, what the fuck? The little micro ones, like, okay.

1:58:22Some people like to pretend they're working out.

1:58:24Sometimes that's me. Just go through the motions.

1:58:27Yeah. Yeah. They're good for wrists, too.

1:58:29Wrist curls. You know. Bye.

1:58:30What? You take a kettlebell and you, like, reverse it, or you have it this

1:58:34way, and you do these.

1:58:36Like, put your forearms on a bench.

1:58:38Oh, yeah. And you hold the handle in your hands and you just let your

1:58:41wrist curl. Because it puts you in this, like, weird angle.

1:58:44It really strengthens your forearms and your wrists.

1:58:46There's so many things you could do with those things.

1:58:49Things that aren't sexy, like Turkish get -ups.

1:58:53Phenomenal for you. So good for stability and core and just overall body control.

1:58:58Yeah, I need it now.

1:59:00Croaching towards 50, still enjoying jiu -jitsu.

1:59:04Yeah. Yeah, you need a little bit.

1:59:05You definitely need something. Are you taking any peptides or any of that stuff?

1:59:10I played around with peptides.

1:59:12Finally, two years ago, I got my endocrine system checked, my hormones checked.

1:59:15Oh, man. It was a nice little gauge that had red zone, yellow, green.

1:59:24Upon first looking at this chart, I assumed that my life was going to end.

1:59:28In about 36 hours. What was your number?

1:59:32Oh, fuck. Two something. Oh, Jesus.

1:59:35I had never had it checked.

1:59:36That's crazy. I didn't feel awesome.

1:59:39But I also... There are people who played around with an immense amount of performance

1:59:45enhancing materials in my previous job.

1:59:47Which, live your life however you want to.

1:59:49Just understand maybe the long -term tail and the consequences of the choice you want

1:59:52to make. Right. I wanted to avoid that for as long as possible because, as

1:59:55you know, once you kind of go on that train, it's a lifelong journey.

1:59:58Yeah. But once I finally saw that piece of paper, I'm like, oh, boy.

2:00:03I bet you could attribute that to the volume of your training.

2:00:07That's also part of the problem is if you're training 10 times a week, you're

2:00:11probably in a constant state of overtraining.

2:00:15Oh, for sure. Yeah. Yeah.

2:00:17Probably for the vast majority of my life, that's been the state that I operated

2:00:20in. If I'm being honest, I mean, the answer was always just more.

2:00:24Like, if you want to get better, do more.

2:00:25Right. You want to be stronger, go harder.

2:00:26Go harder and do more.

2:00:27I'm like, okay. It took me about, so I've been, I started taking TRT about

2:00:31two years ago. I am just now finally slowly dialing it into where I feel

2:00:36a difference, recovery is better, but also, I mean, I try to set realistic expectations

2:00:42for who I am and what I'm trying to do.

2:00:43Like, I'm just, I want to have the healthiest lifespan that I can.

2:00:47Yes. I'd rather live to 80 and be doing awesome stuff to 80 than live

2:00:50to 90 and spend the last 10 years eating Jell -O in a nursing home.

2:00:53Right. Right. So, that's what I'm going for.

2:00:55You could do, as long as you're smart with your training and you don't get,

2:00:59like, catastrophic injuries, you could be very physically fit deep, deep into your 60s and

2:01:0670s. That's the goal. Which is nuts.

2:01:07This is nuts. And that's, I mean, I don't know.

2:01:10Nobody knows how much time we have, you know, and how much, how long your

2:01:13lap is going to be.

2:01:14My goal is just to fill it up with awesome experiences between here and whenever

2:01:18that is. Here, here. Just stay out of that fucking flying squirrel suit, will ya?

2:01:22You know, Cam just said the same thing to me.

2:01:24And if enough people keep saying that, I'll put that fucking thing back on just

2:01:27to piss you guys off.

2:01:28Well, it's kind of amazing that you're still here.

2:01:34I mean, you broke the world record at one point in time.

2:01:49life, people will pull me aside and be like, hey man, what the fuck?

2:01:56I had been skydiving for like 16 years at that point, you know?

2:01:59And, you know, something like when I would go over to...

2:02:02I remember I'd go over to Switzerland and I would do a flight in the

2:02:06wingsuit and get, you know, you're like you're playing tag with your shadow on a

2:02:10steep cliff. And I would send it to you and one day you were like,

2:02:13I just had to throw my phone across the room watching this because it was

2:02:16giving you anxiety. So then I'm like, clearly I'm sending you more of these videos

2:02:20for sure, right? Because now I got the hooking.

2:02:22I threw my foot into a couch.

2:02:23I was like, fuck this.

2:02:25What are you doing, Andy?

2:02:26But that was like one of many jumps in this, like the months of training

2:02:31leading up to that. I'm not going to sit here and say it's safe.

2:02:33I do think you can do it as safely as possible.

2:02:35And I don't have a higher risk threshold than other people do.

2:02:40I spend an immense amount of time at everything that I do looking at the

2:02:43risk and trying to manage it, analyze it, mitigate it as much as possible.

2:02:47And then you look at what's left.

2:02:48To me, that activity provided me enough enrichment in my life that it was worth

2:02:54it. I haven't put the suit on in five or six years.

2:02:58But I swear to God, if I get one more person telling me not to

2:03:01do it, I'm going to go back and just start sending you videos again.

2:03:04All right, well, I promise I won't be that guy that tells you that.

2:03:09I promise. But honestly, at this point, again, talking about risk, it's not worth it.

2:03:12I don't live in a place where I can stay.

2:03:14Because your currency in that suit comes from the skydiving world where you can jump

2:03:17it multiple times a day.

2:03:18In the base jumping world, there's no altimeter.

2:03:20You're just camera one, camera two.

2:03:25Face first. So, yeah, if you misjudge a tree or a cliff.

2:03:29It's probably fun as fuck, though, while it's happening.

2:03:32I don't know how to describe what it feels like doing 120 miles an hour,

2:03:43The skeleton? How close do you get off the ground?

2:03:46What's the closest? Probably not intentionally.

2:03:48The closest was probably somewhere right around the three foot range.

2:03:52120 miles an hour. So, three foot is like one, two, like that.

2:03:57Yeah. Jesus, dude. Yeah. That's insane.

2:04:01You don't do that for very long.

2:04:03And if you do, like some of those jumps in Switzerland, like you would hike

2:04:06for hours. And there's this one jump.

2:04:10It's actually one of the ones I sent you from.

2:04:12It's insane. You're just looking out into like this picture storybook of like where the

2:04:19Kabul giant or whatever he was would live.

2:04:22Kandahar. Kandahar giant. I think it's real.

2:04:24I hope it is real.

2:04:27I deeply, it's such a deep part of me hopes that it's real.

2:04:30But you're looking out at that as you're zipping up your ridiculous nylon suit and

2:04:34checking to make sure everything is there.

2:04:35And then you just rock forward.

2:04:37And at some point you rock to a place where you can't go back the

2:04:39other direction. And you send it.

2:04:41And the first few seconds, because you have no airspeed, the suit doesn't fly.

2:04:44So you're just falling. So you're just falling.

2:04:45and then it takes off.

2:04:46And it's just these right -hand turns and right -hand turns.

2:04:49And there are small sections where the angle is correct and you can kind of

2:04:53connect with the train and then get away from it and connect.

2:04:56The people who are able to survive it are not the ones that are flying

2:04:59three feet off the ground all the time.

2:18:03How remote is it? I mean, there's a large city there, town city.

2:18:12It's relatively built up. As far as southern Afghanistan, it's going to be, you know,

2:18:16you have Kabul up north.

2:18:17Kandahar is a little bit down south.

2:18:19Kabul in the north, you're going to start looking at the exterior range of the

2:18:22Hindu Kush. Kandahar still has some topography, but you're looking at more of like a

2:18:26high desert terrain. And so there's caves and things along those lines?

2:18:31This is the idea that this thing lived in a cave.

2:18:34Yeah. I mean, so, yeah, it's, it's, there is topography that is there for sure.

2:18:39It, uh, possible? I don't know.

2:18:42Well, the reason why, uh, people entertain this idea of giants at all is all,

2:18:48a lot of it's biblical.

2:18:49It's like stories from the Bible.

2:18:51And then also stories from ancient civilizations that talked about red -haired giants, which is

2:18:56the weird thing about this thing, had red hair.

2:18:59Like the Native Americans had tales of red -haired giants that they fought off.

2:19:05Like, there's a lot of people that believe that all these stories from antiquity about

2:19:10giants are all referring to an actual different race of humans.

2:19:15You know, like, we are one race of humans, the Homo sapiens, that survived.

2:19:19But then there's also races of humans that didn't survive.

2:19:23Like, um, the hobbit people from the island of Flores, that they found out there

2:19:27was a branch of the human species that was like three feet tall, covered in

2:19:30hair, real tiny heads. It's weird, but had tools and had weapons.

2:19:35I think some of that stuff's real.

2:19:37I think sometimes, though, the stories, they're intentionally nesting a greater message through the vehicle

2:19:43of that story. Um, so whether it's, like, accurate or not, it's more about the

2:19:51story that they are telling.

2:19:52And I'm not saying, like, the Kandahar giant has some story associated with it, but

2:19:55some of the older, like, the civilizations and the stories that they tell, I think

2:20:00it's just a vehicle. That they can nest something in there to create deeper thought,

2:20:06if that makes sense. It's what I see you guys doing as comedians.

2:20:10Um, I've talked about this recently.

2:20:12Um, it is interesting to me, and I never paid attention to it, but I

2:20:16know he's a good friend of yours, Dave Chappelle.

2:20:18I launched his last special.

2:20:20The ability for comedians to nest inside of your set pretty impactful and powerful, like,

2:20:28societal conversations and ideas and get people to laugh about it.

2:20:31But even when they're done laughing about it, they're going to be thinking about it

2:20:33when they're driving home. It's just the vehicle to get people thinking about stuff.

2:20:39Well, in terms of comedy, I agree.

2:20:40And Dave is one of the best of all time, if not the best at

2:20:43doing that. But what kind of a nesting would you, well, you're talking about giants.

2:20:50It depends on the morals and ethos of that society.

2:20:53If they want to be a warrior society, you have to have something that you're

2:20:55constantly fighting or protecting yourself against.

2:20:59Whether that's real or you are nesting the morality of your society in that story,

2:21:04both could achieve the same end state.

2:21:05If there really was a giant and they really did kill this thing and then

2:21:08brought it back secretly, like, what would be the purpose of that?

2:21:11Why wouldn't they – that's where I go.

2:21:15Like, what would be the purpose of hiding the fact that this thing existed?

2:21:18I don't see why the government would hide the discovery of a giant.

2:21:23Like, what military reason, what national security reason would you have for hiding that this

2:21:33thing existed? At some level of objective skepticism and criticism or looking into these stories,

2:21:39you get to that point of, like, who's benefiting from this and why?

2:21:42Yeah. Why would anybody actually go out of their way to put this much effort

2:21:45into obscure something like that?

2:21:48Yeah. That's how I feel about giants.

2:21:50But when it comes to UFOs, it makes more sense to me.

2:21:54Because then you have something that's insanely advanced, much more advanced than us.

2:22:00And so I had this guy, Hal Puthoff, on my show.

2:22:03He was a physicist, very brilliant guy.

2:22:06And he's been around forever.

2:22:08And during – was George W.

2:22:12or Herbert Walker? Yeah. One of the Bushes.

2:22:16They brought him and a team of specialists in, and they said, we are contemplating

2:22:23disclosure and that we have not just acquired crashed vehicles that are of non -human

2:22:34origin, but also we have biological remains of these creatures.

2:22:38We want you to write down pros and cons of the impact of these things

2:22:44and put a numerical value, put a numerical value in terms of impact on government,

2:22:50impact on religion, impact on all these different things.

2:22:53And universally, all of them came out with more cons than pros.

2:22:59The numbers didn't line up, and they made a decision to not disclose.

2:23:03This is according to this Hal Puthoff guy.

2:23:06I could see that being the case.

2:23:07I could see that being the case, too, if it was true.

2:23:09The UFO thing, there's just too many stories for me to openly dismiss all of

2:23:15them. Even though I have had no experiences, there's too many stories.

2:23:19There's too many – there's too much weirdness to it.

2:23:21How about just given the size of the known universe and the fact it keeps

2:23:24expanding, what is the mathematical odds that we are completely the only – out there

2:23:29exactly so this is like sort of the same argument that people used to use

2:23:34for bigfoot like the wilderness is so vast the pacific northwest is so dense there

2:23:41could be something out there that we haven't documented well the problem is now we

2:23:44kind of have and now we kind of know that with all these camera traps

2:23:48and all these different things it's very very very very very unlikely that any of

2:23:52these stories are true but when you get to the universe it's like come on

2:23:56it's way more likely that we're not alone than we are alone if we are

2:24:01alone that's kind of insane i mean it kind it's kind of incredible if this

2:24:06is the only place where intelligent life is formed i think if that's the case

2:24:11we're missing something we're missing something about the nature of consciousness we're missing something about

2:24:16what consciousness actually is like what is our actual role in the universe it might

2:24:21be more complex than we initially believe i think disclosure that we aren't alone would

2:24:30have a net benefit to society globally we spend a lot of time pecking back

2:24:37and forth at each other and fighting each other if you got sat down and

2:24:41be like listen um we have a global issue now that everybody is impacted by

2:24:47this as big as as much of the biggest swing and dick you think you

2:24:50are on this planet guess what you're nothing in comparison to this i think it

2:24:54would have a net calming effect maybe not instantaneously but overall i think that that

2:25:00would be the net effect of it perhaps the the real problem is like all

2:25:04things someone's going to take advantage of it but i think that if if so

2:25:08let's just say it is real i think that's already happening like the us if

2:25:12that's real the us is not the only country that has agreed not to disclose

2:25:17because it is to their benefit not to do so like these things uh russia

2:25:21has a crash program i'm sure china does as well too and i'm sure that

2:25:25everybody to include the us is trying to reverse engineer these things for our benefit

2:25:28as fast as humanly possible yeah so i think of that if it is true

2:25:33that is the case and that's the bob lazar story there's a great documentary that's

2:25:37out now called s4 that's about bob lazar i had him on again for the

2:25:41second time i don't want to believe him i want to think he's a bullshit

2:25:46artist but i believe him there's there's something about one guy who's a clearly brilliant

2:25:53guy who's been telling the same story since 1988 yeah you know and like you

2:25:59said a volume of other stories some of them i think you can completely for

2:26:03sure right off but other ones pretty tough from pretty credible people who aren't making

2:26:09claims like hey i sat down and had a beer with this thing but like

2:26:12right i was in an aircraft that has a certain performance envelope and we understand

2:26:16the performance envelope of what humans are able to fly at this point and yeah

2:26:20this thing did things that i don't understand sometimes the videos get i mean i

2:26:25was talking with uh well you know bill thompson you just had love that dude

2:26:29he is like he's one of my favorite people you got to be cautious how

2:26:35deep of a question you ask him right because he has national defense level autism

2:26:40at times defcon five like bill what's your favorite colors like oh what is color

2:26:47like that's not what i meant but we were having this conversation and his background

2:26:53is fascinating and what's even more fascinating is what he's done with his background and

2:26:57what he built from with spartan forge with yeah which and his ethics correct but

2:27:03he was talking about some of the videos he understands technological things and he can

2:27:06look at stuff and be like that's the parallax of two moving objects and how

2:27:09a lens works not many people understand those things to include myself many times when

2:27:14i'm talking with mr you know mr bill but i mean he god he's a

2:27:18national treasure he really is he is he that was one of the ones where

2:27:22i dipped into the comments on youtube because i just wanted to know how people

2:27:26were going to react to him yeah what'd they say loved him loved him as

2:27:31universal praise for how brilliant he is and i'm like there's only one way they're

2:30:25Well, my operational experience was at a low – meaning on like – so there's

2:30:29strategic war, operational war. But that's air I never was in the room for.

2:30:35I'm not having – I wasn't invited, rightfully so, to planning meetings where they were

2:30:39talking about the defense policy of the United States or going into a country.

2:30:43I was down like, hey, we found this dude.

2:30:47We know where he's at.

2:30:48Go get him. We can't figure out how to go get him.

2:30:50Why don't you guys go give it a little look -see?

2:30:52That was the level that I operated at.

2:30:54Yeah. Well, one of the things that was discussed was sending a bunch of operators

2:30:59in to go retrieve depleted uranium.

2:31:03Yeah. Do you think they tried that?

2:31:08Yeah. There seems to be a lot of ships, a lot of crafts.

2:31:13Well, okay. So, yes. But – okay.

2:31:18So, we can unpack this one a little bit.

2:31:20So, this is back to the F -15 weapons systems officer that ejected.

2:31:24That was a C -Star or combat search and rescue operation where they surged forward

2:31:28a lot of stuff. And then operation – or the ghost murmur?

2:31:32Stop it right now. You stop it right now, Joe.

2:31:34You don't know what that is?

2:31:34I know. I know. Do you believe in that?

2:31:39Right. Me too. I want them to be able to identify somebody from a heartbeat.

2:31:46If that technology existed and we're not using that to help our own populace find

2:31:50people that are lost in the woods, we're a bunch of fucking assholes.

2:31:53Right. So, like, let's not maybe tell people what we're doing, but you could have

2:31:56a specialist in a search and rescue helicopter that could maybe use that and be

2:31:59like, oh, we saw them in a field when you didn't actually see – right?

2:32:02Right. So, because that doesn't happen, I think the – it's plausible.

2:32:06I don't – it's possible.

2:32:08I don't know if it's plausible.

2:32:09That's how we felt. Me and Jamie were both going, oh.

2:32:13So – but then you can go old school, which is sending in monkeys with

2:32:16machine guns, like what I used to do with a PJ or multiple PJs, pararescue

2:32:21jumpers, because those are the guys – this is the way I describe PJs.

2:32:25If you want to put a hole in something, JSOC guys are great at it.

2:32:27If you want to plug a hole, PJs are the guys that you want on

2:32:29top of you just stopping hydraulic fluid.

2:32:32They're medical, just absolute badasses.

2:32:35Nothing but immense respect for them.

2:32:37So, the two cargo aircraft came in.

2:32:40They pulled the Little Birds out.

2:32:41I believe that there was four.

2:32:43You could only fit probably – man, even if they were super light on fuel,

2:32:47probably three guys on each pod.

2:32:48So, six guys per helicopter, 24 guys.

2:32:51Some of those are going to have to be PJs.

2:32:52I don't know if that's enough to go into a hardened facility in the daytime

2:32:58also, which is not when you would do that for retrieving depleted uranium.

2:33:03Because, by the way, to do that, you're going to be in full protective equipment

2:33:06very likely, which you're going to be moving incredibly slow.

2:33:10I just – I know it was – I know that geographically it was proximal

2:33:14to one of the locations that they thought that that was what was going on.

2:33:17I think more – I think it probably was a rescue of the weapon systems

2:33:20officer is my guess. And then, you know, they're like, well, we can't get the

2:33:25aircraft because they got stuck in the sand, like, okay, the Little Birds don't have

2:33:30the fuel storage and ability to get across where they needed to go, so they

2:33:33had to bring in other aircraft, and you don't want to leave that stuff.

2:33:35Right, so you got to detonate it.

2:33:36Yeah, they bip it or blow it in place.

2:33:38How many aircrafts did they lose?

2:33:42So, what has been, I think, disclosed was the four MH -6s, which are the

2:33:47Little Birds that carry the people, the two aircraft that brought those in.

2:33:51I think there was some version of a C -130, and I think that was

2:33:55it as far as that operation.

2:33:56There might have been a Predator or a Reaper drone that was shot down.

2:33:59I think some A -10s were damaged.

2:34:00And then, of course, the F -15 that was ejected from.

2:34:03Wow. It's a lot. It's a lot of stuff.

2:34:06It is a lot of stuff, but the military asks people to do exceptional things,

2:34:10and it helps you if you know that they are going to send everything that

2:34:15they have to come and get you if something goes wrong.

2:34:18It has to mean something to be issued a flag on your chest, in my

2:34:22opinion, at least. And as far as those operations go, there's basically two where you

2:34:25are going to absorb as the people responding an immense amount of risk.

2:34:29One of them is going to be a hostage rescue, which I was a part

2:34:32of. We talked about that on a previous episode, the Jessica Lynch rescue.

2:34:35The number of people we thought we might encounter was a way bigger number than

2:34:39the number of people that we could get there in the helicopters.

2:34:41But you go anyway because of the chance of rescuing somebody.

2:34:46Combat search and rescue, kind of the same thing.

2:34:47Maybe it's not a hostage situation, but it could be building towards that.

2:34:51I mean, maybe you don't have time to go at night, which is when you

2:34:54have all the tactical and technological advantage, right?

2:34:56The night vision goggles. It's like, hey, we got to go now in the daytime.

2:35:01We're going to level the technological playing field, and you guys are going to go

2:35:04fullback dive and get... That's very high risk.

2:35:07Those are about the two times that you are going to accept that level of

2:35:09risk, and you go when you go.
