2:32We are joined by Congresswoman out of the great state of New York, Elise Stefanik.

2:37She also has a new book out, Poisoned Ivies, the inside account of the academic

2:43and moral rock at America's elite universities.

2:46Just came out yesterday. Congresswoman, great to have you.

2:49Thanks for being here. Great to be with you guys.

2:52I've been looking forward to this.

2:54Thank you. Yeah. You know, I am a New Yorker, I think forever, because I

2:58lived there for so many years, born and raised.

3:00And so I'm always caught between loving the Empire State, and particularly New York City,

3:06and also watching from afar as it's turned into such a mess.

3:10So with that in mind, we're going to get to your book in just a

3:13second. But we were just talking about Momdani's grocery store in New York, and how

3:20this is just emblematic of another bad idea that's going to cost money, not help

3:25people who could use some financial relief.

3:28Does he really not know that this is going to be a mess?

3:31How is Kathy Hochul so incompetent?

3:33I have a lot of questions, Congresswoman.

3:35We have a lot to cover, because the rot is so deep in New York

3:39when you have a state, that single -party Democrat rule, and the Socialist Party has

3:43hijacked today's Democrat Party in New York, and frankly, nationwide.

3:47Today, on Tax Day, as Americans are filing their taxes, and particularly in a high

3:52-tax state like New York, what does Kathy Hochul do?

3:55She breaks her promise and says, oops, she's going to raise taxes higher, further forcing

4:00people to run away from New York, further forcing businesses out.

4:03And this is because she is beholden to the Socialists.

4:07On top of that, you have Momdani, who is celebrating his first 100 days, where

4:12he couldn't shovel snow off the streets, where he has been embroiled in huge political

4:17fights with the New York City Council, which is controlled by Democrats.

4:21And he put forth this grocery store plan that's going to cost the taxpayers $30

4:25million. But the kicker is, they're not going to open until 2029, which highlights this

4:31socialist insanity. You know, if we were to rely on government grocery stores, there would

4:36be hunger lines out the door.

4:39It is a total abuse of taxpayer dollars.

4:41And frankly, thank goodness for the free market in New York State that we have

4:46had that built up the city of New York that is crumbling under failed socialist

4:50leadership. We're talking to Elise Stefanik.

4:53You certainly saw and heard when Kathy Hochul told former New Yorkers, like Buck, just

4:59moved to Florida. Then the tax returns.

5:01So I did. I couldn't disobey Kathy.

5:04I said, fine, Kathy, I'm out.

5:06So the tax returns have collapsed, as many people, Buck, Sean Hannity, even just in

5:12this radio world, have decided to go from New York to Florida.

5:16And now she's begging Floridians to come back to New York.

5:20Meanwhile, they're talking about added taxes on second homes.

5:24I believe it is today.

5:25correct, that the budget for the city of New York is bigger than the entire

5:29budget for all of Florida.

5:31How much of this is just complete mismanagement?

5:34And how much is pushing out the people who actually pay the taxes blowing up

5:39in the face of Democrats like Mom, Donnie and Hochul?

5:42It is total mismanagement. And this is what happens when you have single party rule.

5:47Democrats in the state of New York control the state Senate, control the Assembly, control

5:51the governor's office as well as New York City.

5:54And it's not just a Democrat in New York City.

5:56It's a socialist, as we know, in Mom, Donnie.

5:58And, you know, Kathy Hochul and other Democrats have liked to say, oh, it's because

6:03of the weather. That's nonsense.

6:04It's because of the policies.

6:06And she encouraged people to leave this great state of New York.

6:09And of course, now they're begging them to come back.

6:11But newsflash, they're not coming back.

6:13It's going to be higher and higher taxes under single party Democrat rule.

6:18I've been proud to be the leading Republican fighting against this.

6:21And frankly, in this tax bill and people can quibble about this, but I represent

6:25New Yorkers. I raised that state and local tax deduction, which for a high tax

6:29state like New York, I needed to deliver a tax cut for my constituents.

6:32And I did. And that's something that the Democrats never will even consider.

6:37They're never going to consider cutting taxes.

6:38And if you look at Florida, a higher population, the entire the budget of Medicaid

6:44in New York state is more than the entire budget of Florida.

6:48It is totally mismanaged and a disaster.

6:51It's unbelievable. All right. We're talking to Congresswoman Elise Stefanik from New York.

6:55I still love you, New York, but you have to stop being insane.

6:57But there are many New Yorkers who feel the same way, Congresswoman, who are listening

7:01right now, and they're sticking it out.

7:03So I respect that. And you're one of them.

7:05You still have to live there, too.

7:07So you got a book, though.

7:08Let's talk about your book for a second.

7:10Poisoned Ivies, the inside account of the academic and moral rot at America's elite universities.

7:15Poisoned Ivies, for short. You guys can go get on an Amazon.

7:17Yeah, I believe my brother went to an Ivy League school.

7:20I went to work for Glenn Beck instead of going to an Ivy League school

7:24for an MBA. There's been a lot of lunacy on display.

7:27What are you getting into here in the book?

7:29Is this mostly about all the Hamas lovers running wild in the in the in

7:34the quadrangles? What's happening here?

7:36So as you remember, yes, the book is Poisoned Ivies.

7:39This was about the university president's hearing where you had the presidents of Penn, MIT

7:43and Harvard. It became the most viewed testimony in the history of Congress, more than

7:47Watergate, more than any other congressional hearing.

7:49And that was when I asked them a direct question.

7:51Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate your university's code of conduct?

7:55And they essentially equivocated and said it depends on the context.

7:59This was, of course, after the Hamas attacks against Israel on October 7th, as we

8:04saw universities in the U .S., particularly the Ivy League, be engulfed with anti -Semitism.

8:09But it's not just about anti -Semitism.

8:11This is a much broader moral and academic rot.

8:14If you look at the radical professors at these schools, if you look at the

8:18foreign dollars flowing to these schools, the percentage of increases of foreign students, for example,

8:24at Columbia, 40 percent of students at Columbia are foreign students.

8:28And that includes literally students who publicly chant not just death to Israel, but death

8:34to America and are affiliated with Hamas terrorist organizations.

8:39So the book goes into all of that.

8:41It's a behind the scenes look at the hearing.

8:48care about education because it's about educating our next generation of leaders.

8:51And I'll tell you, the next generation of leaders aren't going to come from these

8:54schools. It not only highlights the bad actors, but the good actors.

8:58And I know one of you will be very proud that Vanderbilt is highlighted as

9:02a positive example. And people are voting with their feet in their wallets.

9:06I was just going to say this because I think it's such an interesting example.

9:13I went to Vanderbilt and met my wife there.

9:16We love the school, but they had a protest after October 7th.

9:22Kids on campus tried to take over the main Kirkland Hall there.

9:26The Chancellor, Daniel Diermeier, walked in.

9:28He said, uh -uh. He called in the Metro Nashville police.

9:32They arrested all of the protesters immediately and they kicked the students out of school.

9:38Fuck. They didn't allow them to finish the semester.

9:41They were done. And something interesting has happened.

9:44I was talking with some of the top Vanderbilt administrators recently.

9:47I don't know if you know this, Elise, but they said that their yield, that

9:54is the kids that get in and invited to, uh, to, to come to Vanderbilt,

9:59get admitted, uh, get an admissions offer.

10:02They have a higher yield now than Columbia university.

10:05So Vanderbilt, not an Ivy league.

10:08Yeah. They now get, so if you have a kid and they go get admitted

10:11to Columbia and you have a kid, they get admitted to Vanderbilt.

10:14The kid that it gets admitted to Vanderbilt is more likely to go to Vanderbilt

10:18than the kid that gets admitted to Columbia.

10:19And I asked, I said, how's this happening?

10:21They said our, uh, applications from New York city, LA and Chicago skyrocketed after all

10:30of the protests on the Ivy league campuses.

10:32So there are real significant consequences that you are writing about that are potentially remaking

10:38where the most elite talented kids in the country decide to go to school.

10:44Absolutely. And to add further information on that, um, it is now more competitive to

10:50get into Vanderbilt than some of the Ivy league school.

10:53So not only are they highlighting the matriculation rates, so those that accept if they

10:57get into both schools, but the applications, as you point out, have skyrocketed.

11:02People are voting with their feats in their wallets.

11:04Parents are rightly scrutinizing it because when you think about it, and I'm a parent,

11:08my son is only four, but we think a lot about his educational journey in

11:12the years to come. I don't want him to go to college for political indoctrination.

11:16It should be about academic excellence and connections to good -paying jobs after they graduate.

11:23So the book not only talks about the institutions that are rotten, but it highlights

11:27places like Vanderbilt. One other example is Dartmouth, the sole ivy that actually enforced the

11:33rules, very similar to how Vanderbilt did.

11:35I highlight innovative schools like University at Austin, but it's a broader, really, indictment of

11:42these, what used to be elite schools, and what's really sad about it, I myself

11:46graduated from one of them.

11:47A lot of those schools, the Harvards, the Penns, the Columbias, predated the founding of

11:51our country, are older than 250 years, and were part of the fabric initially of

11:56our American Revolutionary War principles.

11:59It has fallen so far to the radical left, and it's deeply out of touch

12:04with everyday Americans. You mentioned your son.

12:07I actually met him in the elevator along with your husband at the Republican National

12:12Convention a couple of years ago.

12:13So hello to your husband.

12:15I'm presuming your son's not a listener yet, but your husband said he was.

12:18But you mentioned something there that I thought was super interesting about your own kid.

12:24A lot of times people would aspire, when I was a kid, when Buck was

12:28a kid, hey, you can go to Harvard one day if you just work really

12:31hard. And that was an aspiration in the 80s and 90s for a lot of

12:35people. Is that changing in your mind?

12:38And how do they fix it if it is not the same kind?

12:42I think there's a lot of people out there that listen to us that would

12:44have said, hey, in 1988, my kid went to Harvard.

12:47It would have been the greatest thing I could have ever thought of.

12:49By 2026, I don't know that the same desire is there.

12:53How do they fix it?

12:55Well, it's a good question.

12:56I mean, my family, it was an extraordinary achievement.

13:00I'm the first member of my immediate family to have the opportunity to graduate from

13:03college. I was very proud to get admitted to Harvard.

13:05I had a great experience there 20 years ago.

13:08Of course, it was left leaning, but it was not like it is today in

13:11terms of the absolute bending of the knee to this anti -Americanism and just the

13:16failure of strong leadership and a lack of focus on academic excellence.

13:20These schools are not going to fix themselves.

13:21What I realized after the hearing was, despite all of the public pressure, despite donors

13:26withholding their funds, despite these shifts in matriculation rates, they still don't get it.

13:31They are digging deeper and deeper.

13:33That's why the executive actions by the Trump administration that we have worked very closely

13:37with and the legislative actions and the leverage of taxpayer dollars, that's the only way

13:42to make them listen, coupled with the DOJ lawsuits.

13:45Those are all incredibly important.

13:47It needs to be multifaceted because they are not going to fix themselves.

13:50The schools that are smart are innovating and outgrowing, like Vanderbilt and others, who are

13:57understanding this is a huge opportunity and an earthquake broadly in higher education.

14:01I just want to say, Congresswoman, you said your boy, I believe, is four.

14:05Mine is one. And I've already enrolled him for Florida prepay down here.

14:09So I'm already taking the steps.

14:11You're going to have to get into the University of Florida, too, by the way.

14:16Like, state schools in the south, Elise, are skyrocketing since what happened post -October 7.

14:21UF, which my wife is an alumna of University of Florida, I think got over

14:26100 ,000 applications this year, Congresswoman.

14:30Oh, yeah, and the UF is highlighted.

14:33Oh, you did in the book.

14:35It is highlighted as one of the positives.

14:37Again, most of the chapters are the deep dives on the rotten ivies, but I

14:41thought it was important to end on a positive note that schools that are doing

14:45it right, and University of Florida is one of them.

14:47And, you know, particularly at the time when you saw these pro -Hamas encampments, Ben

14:52Sasse was head of the University of Florida system, and he took, very similar to

14:57Deermeyer, at Vanderbilt, they enforced the rules immediately, and they correctly focused on the academics

15:03instead of allowing this political indoctrination.

15:06And, frankly, it was criminal activity.

15:08That's why this DOJ lawsuit is so important to hold these schools accountable when they

15:14are not protecting civil rights of American Jewish students.

15:18And I, myself, am not Jewish.

15:19I am Catholic. I just, it was so unrecognizable to me, and we had heard

15:24from so many students these horrific stories that it was important to lead in Congress,

15:30and I think we did that in the hearing heard around the world.

15:33Well, Congressman, we'll have to have you back because you can answer the question.

15:36And Brown University, is it really a school, or is it just a commune with

15:40drum circles? But that will be for next time.

24:47Price of oil and gas has stabilized, backing up a decent amount in the past

24:53several days. We've already talked to Kash Patel and Elise Stefanik, as always.

25:15oil and gas, as it is up to around $4 .10 a gallon on average

25:29Peter Doocy of Fox News asked Scott Besant directly about that.

25:33When are we going to get back to $3 a gallon gas?

25:37Cut 27. When are we really going to get $3 a gallon gas?

25:41Well, I think that's going to be up to how the negotiations go.

25:47President Trump said this morning that he thinks we're nearing the end.

25:51The U .S. kept their side on the ceasefire.

25:55We've stopped firing. The straits of our moves have not been completely reopened.

26:00So we will see. And I'm optimistic that during the summer, we will see gas

26:06with a three in front of it sooner rather than later.

26:09So not by summer, like Memorial Day, but maybe by Labor Day?

26:14Again, I'm optimistic that sometime between June 20th and September 20th, that we can have

26:20$3 gas again. Okay, so that is a little bit of a prediction.

26:26Usually gas prices go up in the summer, starting with Memorial Day traveling season.

26:31But as we have said on this program, I am confident that gas prices will

26:36be back down very shortly.

26:39And that is Scott Besant answering that question directly.

26:52Yeah, we got you. So yeah, probably the last 12 to 15 years, I've paid

26:58into the federal government probably $2 ,000 to $4 ,000 every year.

27:02This is the first year in that amount of time that I'm finally getting a

27:06refund from the federal government, which kind of shocked me.

27:09So you got back how much?

27:12Right around $4 ,000. Well, congrats.

27:15Thanks for calling in. The Caroline Levitt said the average refund is right around thirty

27:20four hundred dollars. So you did a little bit better than than expected.

27:24So, yes, look, thank you for the call.

27:25I do think this is going to juice the economy in a big way.

27:29And you say, what do you mean, Clay?

27:30Well, thousands of dollars back, an average of thirty four hundred dollars back, in fact,

27:36is going to put a lot more money into pockets.

27:43And that is going to result in a lot of money being spent, which is

27:47going to juice the overall economy, I think, into the summer and the things are

27:51going to be going very positive.

27:53This is my prediction as we come up on the fall, that it's going to

27:56be hard for a lot of people to feel like the economy isn't substantially better,

28:01thanks to having thousands of dollars on average back in their pockets.

28:05Now, remember, half of the people out there don't pay a dollar in federal income

28:11tax half so if you paid one dollar in federal income tax this year, you

28:17paid more basically than the average American did because half of all Americans don't pay

28:23federal income tax at all.

28:25And so Democrats are continuing to say we've got a tax of the rich.

28:28I mean, that's the Mom Donnie plan.

28:29That's the Elizabeth Warren plan.

28:30That's the Kathy Hochul plan.

28:32The rich are actually being taxed at an incredibly high rate.

28:35I saw this this morning in response.

28:38I was sharing the data on who's actually paying taxes.

28:43And people say, well, the rich need to pay their fair share.

28:46And this was one of the comments I went in after I shared all of

28:50the data. Top 1 % pays over 40 % of all income tax.

28:57Top 10%, 72 % of all income tax.

29:00Top 25 % pays 87 % of all income taxes.

29:06That means the bottom 75 % of earners only pay 13 % of our total

29:13federal income tax. And people say, well, the rich don't pay their fair share.

29:16This is a great stat from the Internal Revenue Service.

29:21This is the IRS themselves.

29:23The top 1 % of earners make 26 % of all income, and they pay

29:3246 % of all federal taxes.

29:36Top 2 % to 5 % make 16 % and pays 20%.

29:41Top 5 % to 10%, they make 11 % overall.

29:44They pay 10%. So it starts to get to the point, and by the way,

29:48the bottom 50 % make 10 % of all income, and only pay 2 %

29:55of all taxes. So the rich, the super rich out there, make 26 % of

30:01total income and pay 46 % of taxes.

30:06That's just the top 1%.

30:08That's according to the IRS.

30:11We've got a couple of different calls.

30:13Actually, John in Sacramento, I want to get his story if he's still there.

30:16John, what did you have to say?

30:20You were out at a track meet in California this weekend.

30:24Hey, Clay, big fan. Yeah, so my daughter's a freshman here in Sacramento, a high

30:28school track athlete. So we were at the, it's called the Nike Arcadia National Meet

30:33in Pasadena, where they bring in the best runners and jumpers in the country.

30:38So the winner of the boys, of the girls, excuse me, long jump, high jump,

30:45and triple jump was a boy.

30:46Yeah. And I follow it because my daughter's an athlete.

30:50And I've seen this kid before.

30:52He won this California State girls long jump, triple jump, and high jump last year

30:59at the championships. So my ask to you is, you know, I know this is

31:04an important issue that you talk about probably better than anyone else in the country,

31:08is, you know, to publicize this.

31:11Because the championships are in six weeks, again, and he's going to win his fourth,

31:15fifth, and sixth championship over girls in a sport where clearly jumping is a, we

31:21don't even need to discuss it.

31:23So this, your daughter is how old?

31:26She's a 15 -year -old freshman.

31:28She doesn't do long jumps.

31:29She's a triple, she's a, she's an 800 runner.

31:32But if the boys were running in the 800, clearly she'd get beat in there

31:35as well. Yeah. This guy, this dude, his name is A .B.

31:39Hernandez, if I'm not mistaken.

31:40And he has won multiple California State championships and he's on track to win in

31:46women's, multiple more women's championships.

31:49I'm just curious. So I think it's an outrageous story.

31:52We're going to cover it aggressively.

31:53The state of California is going to try to protect this dude and they're going

31:56to argue that he should be able to win a women's championship because their argument

32:01is that he's every bit as much of a woman as your daughter is or

32:05any other actual woman that is competing.

32:08What do the girls say when you hear them talk?

32:11What are they saying about the idea that a boy is going to win all

32:14of these state titles in California?

32:17Well, yeah, let me answer that.

32:18But first, first off, last year they brushed it under the rug by saying that

32:22if anyone tied him, if he won, if a girl was second, she'd be given

32:25a first place as well, which is That's right.

32:28Obviously not a solution. Ridiculous.

32:30But number two, like my daughter is just kind of bemused by it because she

32:33hears me talk about it always because I'm not happy about it.

32:37And but her and her friends, when they hear it, they're just like shocked.

32:40Like even that it's happening, they're kind of like it's happening.

32:43It's happening. what can we do about it you know everyone says well what about

32:46the other parents come on you're a dad i think dad's out there just outraged

32:51by this in general but are there dads and moms do they have private conversations

32:55because they might be concerned about saying stuff publicly i appreciate you calling in what

32:59are the private conversations like so so i come from you know i'm a politically

33:03active person so i come in republican circles and know a lot of people and

33:07obviously they can't stand it but as an example clay i was sitting in the

33:11stands obviously so i'm amongst amongst the parents and i slowly start to talk to

33:16them about this and i can't tell you one of them who didn't think it

33:19was completely ridiculous yeah so you know it's just it's just it's obviously it's unfair

33:25but i'm asking you guys to publicize this come do your show there tell harmeet

33:30dylan to be there because it's happening still president's done a lot but it's happening

33:34and this kid's going to take three more state championships from girls yeah thank you

33:38for the call it's absolutely outrageous we probably should cover it at outkick um again

33:44this happened last year in california this same boy won all of the girls state

33:49championships in many of these different track events and now he's back to win again

33:54and i just for all the people out there who claim oh this is not

33:59that big of a story okay then end it right uh my wife was fired

34:05up about this recently because she said you know that this is an outrageous and

34:11indefensible perspective that they're arguing right that a boy is actually a girl and should

34:16be able to win a girls championship because they never defend it right they just

34:21say i don't know why you want to talk about this well the reason we

34:26want to talk about it's because it's happening and the way to solve it is

34:29to stop it from happening and i always like to say take it outside of

34:34gender i loved it some of y 'all are listening right now cooperstown new york

34:40major league baseball's hall of fame is there it's a beautiful area they have a

34:45great little league competition in cooperstown new york all these boys teams from all over

34:51the country 12 you that means you're 12 and under you show up and compete

34:57and i've said this before but i think it's significant you have to bring your

35:00actual birth certificate for your son to be able to compete to prove that he's

35:06eligible in 12 you because obviously if you have a 13 or a 14 year

35:11old kid he can dominate every actual birth certificates and i know because i lost

35:17the birth certificate but that's how much they're paying attention to this because they want

35:21to make sure competition is fair every single parent that is at that 12 you

35:26championship would be furious if somebody showed up with a 14 year old and dominated

35:32the tournament wouldn't be allowed if they found out they were doing it the whole

35:35team would get kicked out and everybody would be furious about it what do you

35:40think is more valuable being 14 year old competing against 12 year olds or male

35:46testosterone competing against girl contenders is there i mean is there any doubt i mean

35:54this is just a basic issue of fairness so the way they respond is they

35:58say well it doesn't happen very often i don't know why you even want to

36:01talk about this is this really the most important thing going on no but if

36:05you responded in that same way and you said well okay there's not that many

36:1014 year olds playing 12 you baseball it's only happening every now and then there's

36:16only four or five of them yeah but they would dominate and they destroy the

36:20entire purpose of having 12 you competition to me this is such a no -brainer

36:26issue and they know they're wrong on this because they won't even debate it they

36:32know it's absurd but i appreciate him calling and this is a real issue that

36:35continues to happen everywhere and i think president trump should weigh in again aggressively on

36:39this harmeet dylan if she and her team are working or listening to some of

36:43this i think they should weigh in i believe harmeet is a california native so

36:47this would strike her even more than than usual we'll get to a bunch of

36:51your talk backs we'll get to your emails we'll finish up the program when we

42:16It's tax day. What is the impact of the tax cuts meant to you?

42:20Really quickly, I just came out of my accountant's office.

42:22I pay a lot of taxes and I expected to pay almost, you know, $45

42:26,000. He showed me the thing, gave me the clip of what I got to

42:28pay. It was $15 ,000.

42:31I almost kissed the man and I can't believe it.

42:33Isn't this what we're supposed to be doing?

42:35Isn't this the help? The great plan was supposed to help.

42:37And yeah, I'm going to spend that money.

43:44that the president proposes to pack the court to get all the democrats to come

43:58a ton of uh serious talk but that is a uh sorry of fun talk

44:05but that is a serious take there uh uh kimmy and suffolk yesterday we were

44:10talking about smart appliances and how they don't work as well as the old ones

44:14did g talk back man you struck a nerve i am so tired of these

44:18smart appliances i want a stupid washing machine i want a stupid refrigerator i want

44:25a stupid thermostat and regular light bulbs so please make stupid smart again that's so

44:33well said i don't even get me started on light bulbs you can't even see

44:36from some of these light bulbs now i i read like my old print newspaper

44:40we got a light bulb in the bedroom i it might as well be just

44:45it is the dimmest light bulb that has ever existed in the history of mankind

44:49i basically have to put the entire paper next to the light bulb to even

44:54be able to see it it's utterly ridiculous um let's see i said that the

45:00fork was vastly superior to chopsticks rich in wisconsin was not happy about that cut

45:07k you're wrong about chopsticks the best way in the world to eat ramen noodles

45:13or yakisoba noodles is with chopsticks nothing else even comes close a listener asked me

45:19that well first of all i don't eat that stuff very often but a listener

45:22asked me an interesting question do they use forks at american restaurants in japan because

45:29obviously we try to show off here by using chopsticks in japanese restaurants for instance

45:34if you go i've never been to japan if you go to japan and you

45:37go into an american style food place which they have tons of in japan do

45:43they use forks as an interesting cultural experiment so that you feel like you're in

45:47america because you're using a fork i don't know i'd be actually curious i've been

45:51a bunch of you've been to japan know the answer to that all right super
